Loving this channel. So glad you’ve broken away from Hoonigan. Love seeing Zach too. Always thought that he was a criminally underused host. Y’all keep the great content up.
Zach did speak on it briefly. Probably pretty hard to organize/drive all the categories. and he probably would've said the grandsport was a better deal anyways
@@toddbrown4185grandsport is the better deal, but Z06 weighs less and is more attractive for race use than me to the LS7. But it is also the problem child of the group.
Vin, idk wtf some ppl are saying this is such a perfect series and I see these getting the views and bringing more ppl to the channel with is the goal. Keep killing it!
Being from the uk, i think I've seen 2 or 3 corvettes in my lifetime, but i do remember the first time one went past me. Loving this series keep killing it
Great video Vin. I'm on my 3rd ownership of a daily driven C5Z, current one is 434rwhp and is about all I need for daily driven fun. Also had a 707rwhp C6ZR1, and planning on looking for a C6Z next year.
The base C6 you had had the LS2 but in 2008 they received the LS3 which is a little more sought after due to slightly higher displacement plus horse power. Great video nonetheless keep it up Vin!
So I'm Scotto's age... I have kept most of the 1/64 Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars. I've pruned them down over the years, but one thing I noticed is that I kept almost 20 C4 Corvettes... I keep coming back to C4 Corvettes as a future car for me. It was the "cool car" of childhood. A ZR-1 would be awesome, but any of the final 6 speed ones would be a dream car.
Great seeing Zach on the channel this week. I never miss an episode on Zach's channel, Hert's channel or yours. Love all the videos you guys put out and it makes me happy to see you all thrive. long may it continue. It would be nice to see Ron make a few more appearances too, I miss seeing him with you guys. He seems like such a cool Geezer. Big Ups Vin and thanks for another top video. Much Love
As an African we are exposed to European cars and that’s what we are more akin to like but my word a Corvette is something fantastic and that sounds is Godly, que the ChopLord
Quick note on the C4 ZR-1. Its not exactly the fastest car nowadays but it has a special quality to it. The LT-5 engine revs high and pulls way harder than its rated HP. Aswell its the kind of car you buy for the story that surround the car and i guess the 90's performance. I say that because i own a 95 ZR-1 and it rocks for what it is. Now if your goal is best of the best Corvette hands down any C6 or C5 is a better choice performance wise. You cant beat the value just buy one!
Vin, i don't know if I've mentioned it before but your ability to shift gears is top notch. No matter what car you're in and what equipment is bolted on, you hit those shifts perfect. I imagine you could float gears if you wanted to. I've tried helping Damon on DDE a few years ago writing in the comments but he still struggles a bit. Thanks for continuing to make the great content👍 glad to see your merch is selling, it's a great way to support your channel.
When you have a great episode & the Shopify ad is still the best part, then you know that you have an adorable dog! “Can I pet that Daaaawg?” Happy to see you and the old Hoonigan guys make content they love and reaping ALL the results from it. Much respect guys! 👍
I’m liking how you review and rate in this new series because I like your opinion on how and why you buy car for investments. It’s good for average car guys like us to know what value we are getting and what the future holds for these values, thanks! 🙏🏽
should do a show on salvage, rebuilt, and insurance salvage cars. A lot of people get put off on insurance salvage cars when the only issue they had was because insurance didn't want to pay for the overpriced OEM parts. - either way, keep up the content. always look forward to thursdays!
Down the road when you do a WRX STi episode, I hope you do give some love to the NA Imprezas too. As a broke ballast boy with an 05 RS that isn't fast but having it manual makes up for it to have some "fast" fun in a slow car.
This was great video bud. Informative, well put together, decent music and good videography. Anyone who thinks this isn’t journalism can suck it. Keep rocking dude 🤘
Jolly in the background at the end 😂😂😂 what a guy 🤙 love these series episodes, being from the uk i know fuck all about the American market cars amd ive always loved the corvette 💪🤙🏴
Base/GS is best. Can boost and get some great gains. Z06 LS7 not so well for boost. ZR1 is king but some don’t modify because some believe it’ll lose value
This is a good series as the 997 video. it gives a good primer for different trim levels outside of “this comes with chrome delete” like that was a thing.
No love for the C4 ZR1? Yeah it's an odd car, lol. But it's crazy how the body is way wider. It's not just Flares, the body itself is wider. Freaking LOTUS developed the V8 in it, and Mercury Marine built it in their MerCruiser factory. It's an insane car for it's time period. 405 horsepower isn't crazy now, but in 1993 it was insane. a V12 Ferrari 512 only made 420 horsepower at the time! The Mustang GT made 235 horsepower, lol.
C6GS is the sweet-spot for a "normal" person who would mod the base model. $90-100k is way too spicy for 99% of folks with a mortgage. Keep it up, great video!
C6 GS Centennial edition is the sweet spot similar interior to the ZR1 but way cheaper at around 50k. There was a period about 5 years ago where you could get into a GS between 25-35k and a Z06 between 30-45k but people have realized their value and there’s a slight influencer tax on them. Great video Vin would love to see you and Zach do more together.
C3 and C4 were both Slappy sports cars, C3 LT1 would kill a 911 of the era on the street and track. C4 was so good it got BANNED from showroom stock because it was dominating Porsche 944s and other competitors so hard, and this was a base L98 car with a 4 speed doug nash. "how do they sell cars like this to normal people" Bruh are you forgetting the NEW ZR1 is gonna have 1064 HP
No Vin chill on showing people how sick the Vette market is right now compared to other used sports cars!!!! I still have a year before I graduate college and can afford one! I don’t want to pay 50k for a z06 I want to pay 40k or less for one with less than 40,000 miles on it! All jokes aside the c6 is such a sick car right now for the money. It’s really hard for me to think of any other used car with comparable performance out of the gate for the same amount of money? First gen mustang GT350 I guess but even those don’t handle like the Vette does. I can’t wait to pick up a C6 z06 I can take to auto cross days and rip it down canyon roads!!!
The C6 ZR1 is one of my dream cars! That car is just downright sexy in every way! I'd want one painted either Jetstream Blue or silver with the stock chrome wheels. Unfortunately, with me standing 6'5", I really don't fit inside any Corvette comfortably, which really pisses me off because they're not exactly tiny cars externally. Zach's Grand Sport sounds great! The hood on his car looks like it was inspired by the hood on the Corvette C5.R. Sonja is my kind of girl. First and the most important mod? BOOM... exhaust! Gotta have a decent sounding exhaust rumble if you have a V-8 powered performance car. On a side note, you mentioned the horsepower for the C4 ZR1 was only 375, which is partly true, but for the 1993 - 1995 models, the horsepower was bumped up to 405.
I'm not a GM guy, but the C4/5/6 are the best budget sports cars out there, especially for getting in cheap and hotrodding to make your own. a stick hard top C4/5/6 would be go to choice if I were going to get way more serious in track days and grass roots competition. the parts availability is PhD level... Piled High and Deep.
Depends on what you’re using it for. If your drifting get a base and bash it then throw on wide body fenders. If you’re tracking it the GS or z06 for the dry sump and upgraded brakes
While the C6 Grandsport is awesome, its not quite the same as the C6 Z06. The C6Z is special, the LS7 (although a problematic race engine) is incredible. You should definitely drive and review one if you can.
I love all C6's. I do think it would be cool to build a regular Z51 LS3 car. You do not get the body , dry sump or brakes, but I kind of like the more simple lines on it. Lower it on a good set of coilovers, a nice square 18" set up and I think that would be the ticket for me.
First off, amazing video. It was refreshing to see an empirical look at what value the c6 offers. One note, the c6 GS is not "basically a Z06" as you are missing the famous LS7, the 7 Liter powerplant from the Z06. The Grandsport has the upgraded bumpers and wider fenders but shares the ls3 with the base corvette.
You should do an SUV Cherokee to Track hawk, BMW XM line, Benz base to amg/brabus, Durango, explorer base to st. An suv episode could be cool. You know what would be cooler would be something on the special models like Brabus or Alpina, lingenfelter or Calloway, rough or saleen. Maybe not so much in the worth it aspect but just these are cool aspect. Just my two pennys man. Keep it up!! Gonna go watch Dan clean his yard now.
I would really love this on the Audi/VW side, the whole Golf/GTI/ R,R32 from older genereations would be pretty cool to see. Even take a step further and start venturing into the lower Audi models with the 2.0 TSFI enginee ya know?
Would have been nice to see a heads/cam c6z in the mix. The extra 100whp/better gear ratios/magnesium subframe really bridge the gap to the zr1. The gear ratios in the zr1 are 🔥

I think a GTR episode in this style would be cool!
10000%
I have a c6zo6 and looking to buy a zr1 soon, it's the ultimate pair of corvettes imo, the only vetted I would take over them is the split window
Thanks for this video. The C6 zr1 is my dream car. They say don't meet your idols but damn I want one so bad.
I had a C6 Z06. I want another one. I would think the carbon fiber edition Z06 for 2011 would be one of the rare ones.
I don't know, the C2 Corvettes are pretty badass.
Z06 is almost its own thing, my favorite.
Great series! Nice analysis!

IIRC the LS3 in the Grand Sport is different from the base LS3 in that it is hand built, but you are correct that the LS7 is far more special

Great video! C6 is 👌 in black
damn, actually the first time I didn’t skipped an ad just because of a dog getting petted the whole time
IT WORKED HAHAHAH
It’s hard to argue with a base c6 (especially LS3) it is so much car for the money. I bought my 08’ in 2016 with 90k miles for sub $20k
I would definitely lean grand sport, would feel a bit bad modifying the ZR1 and hurting its value.
Don’t tell corvette owners how many they made 😂. They all have a special 1 of 1 that was built on Tuesday at 4:45
Would have been nice to see a heads/cam c6z in the mix. The extra 100whp/better gear ratios/magnesium subframe really bridge the gap to the zr1.
The gear ratios in the zr1 are 🔥
Now that you finally did something with Zach, you gotta do something with Hert or Scotto.
Would love to see it.
And as a side note, i personally would love to see a worth it video on the RX-7.
I'm going suggest the 1st or 2nd gen Mazda 3 because I'm convinced they provide the most complete driving experience under 10k, they are practical, reliable, fun to drive with a really capable chassis that it shares with the focus and some Volvos, They have really good steering feedback and a good shifter as well. You could do a comparison between the regular 2.5, the speed and maybe a tuned speed or focus rs.
Vin, I love this series. If you want to come to Jersey, I can organize a Dodge Challenger episode. Base - hellcat/redeye/demon. Hit me up bro.
Can you do Evos next?
I love these videos Vin...
