as a 70 year old male first timer this was just what I needed. I went through numerous other tutorials but yours was the best at going over what I needed to lean how to set up and fly... thanks a bunch
How could someone down thumb this video? This is one of the most informative videos i have ever seen. Good job bro you have helped thousands including myself.
This is bar none! The Very, Very, Best Video of the “Exact” procedures you go thru from beginning to end of the DJI Phantom 3 Standard Drone setup, nothing...”I repeat” nothing else is needed or comes close to this instructional video, and it doesn’t get boring... I would like to Thank this gentleman for taking the time out of his day to put this out here, it’s perfect! I’ve watched this probably 3X’s and if I forget something...this is the video I Return to, to help clarify things I may have missed or forgotten. Respectfully, Jeff Mercer Mentor, Ohio
This was an EXTREMELY understandable video and learned more on your teachings than the dozen others I watched. I am a first time drone owner and have been scared to death to even try my Phantom 3 Standard. You gave me a lot of confidence watching you. Thank you
This is a very nice video for the beginner. I would like to mention a few things that might also help. 1. The app has a beginner mode which limits altitude and distance from the point of take off to about 100 feet. Its found under settings. This feature is set to default when you power the system for the first time. Verify this and leave it on until you're comfortable with basic navigation. 2. On the transmitter/remote. The toggle switch on the left is a emergency return to home. To engage toggle back-and-forth twice. This comes in handy should your phone or tablet loses Wi-Fi signal or other like error with your viewing device.
I purchased my Phantom 3 Standard a month ago. I was disappointed with DJI for not including a tutorial video (CD) in it's packaging. Your video is great for beginners that purchased the DJI Phantom 3 Standard. Thanks for your help in making me feel confident in flying this drone. Several flights and no crashes or mishaps.
I just ordered my Phantom 3 Standard and have been looking for a video like this. I'll probably watch this video 2 or 3 times just to be thorough. Thank you for taking the time to make this excellent video.
I absolutely love and appreciate how detailed and step-by-step you make this, never assuming we know something already. Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video!
Thank you. This is a superb and detailed guide to get anyone to set up and fly the DJI 3 Standard. Gives the first time flyer complete confidence. Excellent!
Great job! I'm a little gun-shy about flying my phantom for the first time, as my previous drone (Bebop) was horrible to fly. This video gives me more confidence to take my new Phantom standard out for its first flight. Thank you!
Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I am so intimidated with this device that I bought a $59 drone to practice with inside. Your video is the best I have seen period. You have given me confidence to move forward. I plan to watch this video over and over to know what I am doing.. Thanks again.
This is by Far the most comprehensive video I've seen on the internet. Although some of the glare and reflection's are somewhat Poor at times, YOU DID GOOD Thanks a MILLION!!
Great video! Ignore the idiots that want to simply make comments about where you are looking to read. Mine will be here tomorrow. I have spent hours reading and looking at various videos. I had pretty much mentally put them all together and knew what to do. I stumbled across yours and actually watched 90% of it, ignoring small stuff like connecting the phone or getting the app. I think it is an excellent video and appreciate your effort.
bigpapam109 Thanks for the kind comments. As for the standard emo teen troll mentality, I'm good at ignoring it. Some people have nothing to be happy with in their life and just want to being others down. I'm glad you found the video useful. That's the whole reason I put it up :)
Thank you so much me and Me and my brother have been trying to get my drone started for 3 days. My dad found this video and it really helped me out! Thank you so much!
I've watched this video about 4 or 5 times now and finally had my first flight with a p3 standard, I was surprised how good it flew. Thanks to this video I knew the basics of getting the drone ready for flight and then flying. I've watched a lot of unboxing videos and none have been this clear to understand. Thank you
What I liked best about your video, was that you talked about what was most important to get the drone's controls explained and how to get it off the ground.. PEOPLE! Spend 35 min and watch this video first!! (Dont bother with DJI tutorials!) :)
Yes, but thanks to those people, we know how to use our technology which may have otherwise ended up in the bin. I have been helped by you tubers on quite a few occasions, usually with cheap stuff from China with instructions in Chinglish. Big companies like DJI should do better though
A friend gave me his drone and a link to the instruction manual. I found the manual a bit disjointed, but now after watching this video, I use the manual now as reference. Good video thanks.
Great Job on the Video!I am a little older than maybe most of the people that fly drones and I needed the detail you offered. You answered a lot of the questions I had on this drone.I Appreciate you taking the time to go into the detail you did! A lot of the other videos, like you said assumed we knew might have knew more that we did.Again Great Job!
Thank you so much mate. this video was perfect, there should be a link to your vid on the box saying watch this. well done on taking the time to help us all out.
I just got my Phantom yesterday and I've been studying it so much and I must say this is the best and only video ill recommend to those first starting out. Very detailed and all. I also want to add as a tip for everyone, whatever you do, DO NOT pull your controller buttons inwards while in the sky. I have to keep reminding myself of that since sometimes I have a habit of panicking and using the wrong controls. I practiced with a cheaper drone and then upgraded to the Phantom.
Very professional. Try to look at the camera lens though. This video is great for the beginner. Thanks because I will be purchasing mine within the next month.
Just got my Phantom 3, and really grateful for your time in putting this tutorial together. I also had a communication failure with a firmware update, of which one of your other videos helped to resolve that issue. Hopefully, I can get to more flying soon. Many thanks!
This video is a godsend! Just got my phantom today so I read the instructions but proceeded to get frustrated at the lack of info. Downloaded the DGI app and that crashed on me a couple of times. Wasted 2 hours until I looked on RUclips and found your vid - should have come here first! Thanks!
Best video tutorial on phantom 3 so far. Got it last year , flew once and lost GPS connection while flying over a waterfall in Iceland, was scary experience, after that I decided to learn to fly properly and found great info here. Thanks
Very informative. I have had my 3 Standard for 3 weeks and have have flown it 5 times. I viewed this prior to my first flight as a buddy had bought the SE model a few weeks prior and I wanted to get an idea of its operation as he invited me to assist in helping him fly his. I felt like this gave me lots of info and when my turn at the controls came, I was able to get it up and flying. He crashed his into a tree twice over his first four flights, the first hitting a branch and falling with no damage. The second time happened the same time I took the maiden flight with my own Standard and his drone is still in the top of the tree 3 weeks later in a County Park. He bought another one. I learned quickly to not just rely on my judgement of the position of the aircraft to hazards by sight but use the camera as well to be sure it cleared hazards. I love flying mine and am getting better at smooth controlling my drone. I am watching this again and have learned new things, especially about the app, that didn't mean much the first time. So, before the next flight, I will be revisiting the app to make settings adjustment as needed and as I am flying. Thanks for your detailed presentation as it definitely helps me feel more confident. Dave
Because of your video I had my first flight applied everything you said and it worked ,I want to thank you again for videos like this it was very helpful and I had a lot of fun,I think anybody who wants to learn how to fly should view this video very close and you will have success.
Very well made video with easy to follow instructions for use with the Phantom (3) standard. Thank you. You've made it easier to learn for beginners like me. Kudos.
Got mine for 450 on amazon not on black friday. If you want it for that you're going to need to order it online then pick it up at the store. it will sell out quick!
My son found a phantom 3 and controller, batteries etc. in a box on the sidewalk. Although I have more modern DJI drones I wanted to learn how the Phantom 3 standard was set up. These instructions were super clear. Hopefully I will be able to get it in flying condition and get to fly it.
I have to say you are the best drone RUclipsr on RUclips you really deserve more subscribers I recently got a drone and I hate instructions so u watched loads of videos and none helped but then I watched yours and it told me everything I needed to know and it really helped.2 days later I had another problem with the aircraft and I looked in the instructions and it didn't help and then I looked on RUclips and no videos helped and then I remembered your channel and then I looked up the problem on your channel and bam I found the video and it really helped so I just wanted to say thanks for that✌🏻️😀
cillian meehan I'm glad to have helped. This video was amateurish and rushed at best but I covered a lot of ground. It doesn't tackle -everything- but it covers a lot of good starter info. I'm glad you are enjoying your drone :)
Thanks for taking the time to make a very complete and understandable Phantom 3 SE video. You brought your viewer from start-up to shut-down without a lot of needless distraction. It answered a lot of questions I had. Thanks again.
Bro I just got the standard 3 and I was abit lost but after watching this video iv got her up and running thank u so much buddy ur a legend Sammy from Belfast
I haven't flown my Phantom 3 Standard in about 3 years. This video reminded me of all the things that need to be done. I'll give it a try!! Thanks for the video.
Sammy Evans it's just an observation ... it's what happens when you post a video on a public platform ...you're gonna get people commenting on things that stick out, for no reason other than there's a keyboard in front t of us. Let's get used to it
Thanks for the video. I just got my drone today for Christmas and your beginner video is perfect. It was windy today here so I only used the "beginners " mode for a couple of short flights in the backyard.
Kamlyn Cooper I shown it at the very end of this video and also show the shutdown graphics directly from the user manual earlier in this video. When in doubt you can also read the user manual which I link in this video's description
Tommy Plata haha, I had that issue a lot at first too. RTH avoids that issue. What I do is bring it back in close to the start point so it's right in front of me and then initiate the RTH so I can avoid that issue
tripecollie Oh man you have no idea haha I havnt calibrated it once so when I do return to home it starts to fly else were haha for some reason my gps isn't really that consistent s7 active, plus poor signal bounces constantly. imma have to rematch your video again and hope to learn more
Melissa and Alex I made the video quickly for my dad. I'm reading an outline/script I roughed out real quick. While I could record the video again I think it is unnecessary since people can get the information needed from this video.
Nathan Marshall firmware through the app software is straightforward. I cover manual firmware upgrading/downgrading in another video I link in the one's description
It is, I was looking for it when you addressed it early in the video, I just needed patience :). Great video! I am going to go fly!!! I willl look for more of your vids. See if I can find out what these switches on the remote do.
Nathan Marshall I also mention in this video's text description above what the switches do and what pages of the manual to refer to if needed. I even link to the manual.
FANTASTIC! thank you so much for your help. We got my son a used Phantom 3 Standard and had no idea what to do. Couldn't have set it up without you!! THANKS AGAIN!
Dude seriously thank you for making this video. It was VERY informative and well made! I bought my phantom 3 today and was nervous to fly it because of lack of instruction on DJI's website and the manuals in the box. Again thank you friend!
Devin Brezgiel I felt the same way when I got mine! There's still more to learn besides what's in this video. This is just a good introduction. Make sure to read the manual I link in this video's description
Hi, Ive just purchased the Phantom 3 Standard and its being delivered Monday. So, in the meantime I thought I'd get all gen'd up on it. Been trawling YT for the right info, and I found it right here. Thank you very much for taking time to produce a very informative video. I've learned so much by watching it, but will watch it again and again. Looks a lovely piece of technology. Thanks again Peter
Ok I'm late to the party, just got a friend's old drone & this is definitely the best vid I've seen explaining how to use the Phantom. Thanks - now I'm flying!!
Great Vid! I just inherited a hand-me-down Phantom 3 standard when my son upgraded, and am in the process of learning how to fly. This vid was exactly what I needed! Thanks!
Great video best I've seen so far. Just remember folks that b4 you fly you will need to register your DJI Phantom 3 with the FAA, fee is $5 or your drone will not work for you. If you have another registered drone then you are all set.Time to fly, get good with it and upgrade. Happy flying
Thumbs up for this video. I don't the the chance to fly my drone much and this is my "Go To" when I need a refresher. This was the video I watched to help me when I first got my drone. Thank you!!
Well done! a very helpful video for any who has just purchased a DJI 3 Drone. Saves hours of searching different sites and books. easy to understand. Thank you.
Thanks for taking the time to share your information. I'm just getting started with the Standard as well. It is complicated at first look but now I have the confidence to enjoy my new drone. Your attention to detail is appreciated!
You made a very fine useful, keeper video for the beginner. I wish more folks would pay attention to how important it is to do a good job on "How To" videos. Thank you very much and happy flying
Thank you so much for this video. I've recently received my Phantom 3 drone and quite frankly, I was absolutely lost before I watched what you've done. I have a salt lake fairly close to where I live - I'm in Western Australia - so I think I'll go there and practice what I've learned so far in your tutorial. Really, really thank you so much. Go on ya!
as a 70 year old male first timer this was just what I needed. I went through numerous other tutorials but yours was the best at going over what I needed to lean how to set up and fly... thanks a bunch

I agree with this. Any one down thumb is a stupid ass punked bitch ..

My son found a phantom 3 and controller, batteries etc. in a box on the sidewalk. Although I have more modern DJI drones I wanted to learn how the Phantom 3 standard was set up. These instructions were super clear. Hopefully I will be able to get it in flying condition and get to fly it.
When calibrating the compass it actually tells you to put it "face down" vertical when doing the second part
Put your teleprompter over the camera to avoid the Twilight Zone eye look. This tutorial was very helpful and straight forward. Thanks!
That video was great learned so much thank you
Got a drone for work and it didn't have the instructions. this video provided everything I needed! super detailed and informative. thanks dude!
Thanks this video helped me on me and my dads drone
Thank you this was very helpful!!!
Thanks for taking the time to make a very complete and understandable Phantom 3 SE video. You brought your viewer from start-up to shut-down without a lot of needless distraction. It answered a lot of questions I had. Thanks again.
Very helpful thank you. Are you in the Bay Area (SF)? That area looks very familiar!!
Bro I just got the standard 3 and I was abit lost but after watching this video iv got her up and running thank u so much buddy ur a legend Sammy from Belfast
Great video 👍🏼
I haven't flown my Phantom 3 Standard in about 3 years. This video reminded me of all the things that need to be done. I'll give it a try!! Thanks for the video.

I am about to buy a Phantom 3 Standard. This will be my first ever drone. THANK YOU for making this video, it is going to help me so much.
Nice video was alot help
Fantastic Job , words cant describe what you have done for us first timers, Thank you.
Where is he looking at at the start?
does it matter,
it does.. begs the questions.
again does it matter why, just listen to him.
Sammy Evans it's just an observation ... it's what happens when you post a video on a public platform ...you're gonna get people commenting on things that stick out, for no reason other than there's a keyboard in front t of us. Let's get used to it
Generikid he's probably reading a script
Thanks for the video. I just got my drone today for Christmas and your beginner video is perfect. It was windy today here so I only used the "beginners " mode for a couple of short flights in the backyard.
if you are landing the drone standardly how do you turn propellers off after?
Kamlyn Cooper right above the home button it's the spot where you take off it says land once you have the drone on the ground
Kamlyn Cooper I shown it at the very end of this video and also show the shutdown graphics directly from the user manual earlier in this video. When in doubt you can also read the user manual which I link in this video's description
tripecollie I was trying to manual land in the other day and once it started it geeked out and started leaning to one side scared the poo out of me
Tommy Plata haha, I had that issue a lot at first too. RTH avoids that issue. What I do is bring it back in close to the start point so it's right in front of me and then initiate the RTH so I can avoid that issue
tripecollie Oh man you have no idea haha I havnt calibrated it once so when I do return to home it starts to fly else were haha for some reason my gps isn't really that consistent s7 active, plus poor signal bounces constantly. imma have to rematch your video again and hope to learn more
This guy explained EVERYTHING other people don’t explain everything they explain majority
are you talking to another person?
Melissa and Alex I made the video quickly for my dad. I'm reading an outline/script I roughed out real quick. While I could record the video again I think it is unnecessary since people can get the information needed from this video.
It was very helpful video either way Thanks spending the time and making it
Melissa and Alex's Family lmao
It’s called reading the instructions
Always one dicked comment. Ignore it. Good start up video cheers
I haven’t flown my phantom 3 for nearly two years so this video has been really helpful! Thank you very much!!
You skipped the "easy firmware update" on the video.
Perfect, Thanks for your patience. Found the "More" button on the description!
Thanks...I to have been annoyed at the lack of comprehensive instruction so Thank You for this video in helping me get started.
probably the best video for start up / beginners
Easily one of the best tutorial videos I’ve ever seen on any subject. Many thanks for this.
Excellent video for the beginner!
Really very very helpful lesson for the beginners... You have taught me much... Actually DJI company should pay you for this Tutorial video.
Best video out on Phantom 3 Standard!! Thanks!
FANTASTIC! thank you so much for your help.
Thanks again
Peter
Can't thank you enough for all the time you have taken to show all the beginners all of this info.
Ok I'm late to the party, just got a friend's old drone & this is definitely the best vid I've seen explaining how to use the Phantom. Thanks - now I'm flying!!
my phantom 3 is on its way . ive watched your video once im sure ill watch it a couple more times !!! thanks from wyoming
Great Vid! I just inherited a hand-me-down Phantom 3 standard when my son upgraded, and am in the process of learning how to fly. This vid was exactly what I needed! Thanks!
This guy literally should work for DJI, what an amazing informative video.
A very helpful and instructive video. Many thanks.
Thank you!!
Thank you for this video. I bought my Phantom 3 Standard a few days ago and took it for a first flight this morning. Well, explained!
thanks for posting. i'm a visual learner and your video helped me get up and flying in no time
Well done! a very helpful video for any who has just purchased a DJI 3 Drone.
Most informative video I have seen so far for this drone, great job, Just got one for Christmas and now feel I am ready for take off
The best video on setting up and flying the DJI standard 3
Thanks. This was a great refresher course after not having used my drone for a year or so. I appreciate you making this video.
Just got my hands on a DJI Phantom 3, this guy saved my life👊🏻
Just got the Phantom 3 Standard delivered yesterday. Can't wait to fly this machine. Thanks for the video.
I also ordered my DJI Phantom 3 Standard, and watched the video a few times as reference.
Thanks.
Go on ya!
