When I was growing up on this I always heard Hendrix in Trower. When I first saw Stevie Ray Vaughn in '83 I could hear Trower and Hendrix in him. And so it goes.

SRV loved the Texas shuffle, and played in 4/4 time a lot. Not so with Trower. And as Trower's life and career progressed, he turned more bluesy and drew from his personal experiences more, such as "Good Morning Midnight", where he lamented his late wife. There's zero Hendrix in that. Jimi didn't live long enough to express his personal life in such ways. We must remember not to over-generalize.

Bridge of Sighs, I can't wait any longer, About to begin, Daydream, Too rolling stoned, For earth below and Bluebird. Just some of this amazing tracks this unbelievably underrated band has to offer. James Dewar bass and vocals, Robin Trower Guitar and Reg Isidore on drums.

Robin Trower is the guitarist and he's still active today, I believe he is in the neighborhood of 80 years old and he just released another killer album. He is still going pretty strong. The bassist and singer in the video is James Dewar and he passed away in the early 80s unfortunately, and I think Reg Isadore the drummer may have recently passed. Robin has continued on over the decades and even put out three albums with former Cream bassist and singer the late Jack Bruce. Robin is an underappreciated guitarist and did receive some criticism in the early days for his similarity to Hendrix but he carved out his own sound. If there are Trower fans that stopped listening after James Dewar, I encourage you to check out some additional albums. My favorites post Dewar albums are 20th Century Blues, Living out of Time, Seven Moons, The Playful Heart and his latest No More Worlds to Conquer.

so who knows? I'm hoping he lived to be a ripe old age. but as I was scrolling down I left a video playing and it sounded a lot like Stevie Ray Vaughan. so there's a good thing right there!

@@johnanderson4132 who passed in 2002? Reg Isadore? That’s probably right. I know Bill Lordan played drums with Trower and Dewer for many years as well. Lordan is still alive.

Heard him live in Dallas in '85. Dive bar...the kind where they check your boots for knives. This little white girl was scared, but the people there were only about the music. Amazing night,. Lesson learned.

I was expecting to see Bill Lordan on drums, but this will do. Excellent band live, I'm glad I got a chance to see their show. This song might have been the hi-lite of their late 70's live album.

Robin Trower is the lead guitarist. It's his band. He's originally from the band Procal Harem who are very famous for their song Whiter Shade of Pale among other hits. His most famous song might be Bridge of Sighs. Obviously he's a legendary musician.

Hey Mojo and uncle Ted,this was a great one by Robin.Your uncle Ted nailed it,as Robin was influenced by Jimi, but Robin was in Procul Harum before Jimi passed.Robin started his solo stuff after Jimi left us and carried the torch for him.Try Daydream from the '75 Winterland concert,he dedicates Daydream to Jimi by calling him the Man.Thanks guys for this!

The Bridge Of Sighs title tune and tune that one follows it on the lp .In this place. Were both influenced from the band WAR. Thier 70's lp The WorldIsA Ghetto . Bridge Of Sighs/Four Cornered Room. In This Place/The World Is A Ghetto. Bridge was the best Trower made. Ghetto was the fastest selling lp in the decade of the 70's.

1st of all im glad to see the Brother on the traps(you see how Trower looked at him after he tapped that cowbell probably improvised.) Now back to Trower when he hit the scene a little bit after the death of Jimi Hendrix. The people wete claming Rip-Off. My suggestion is listen to the song Straight Ahead from the 1971 released Lp : "The Cry Of Love".
Which was released after his death.
If you listen to Trower 's 1st lp Twice Removed From Yesterday with drummer Reg Isidore. BOS had Isidore .For Earth Below had Bill Lordan whose Drumming style was more like the Straight Ahead sound.
Tale a Listen To Straight Ahead From Hendrix. Make your call.

One of the many great guitarists that has many great hits and somehow even classic rock radio stations never play any more.
After hearing this again after many years I can't help but hear the influence he put on Stevie Ray Vaughan.
Many people talk about Jimi Hendrix influence on Stevie Ray Vaughan but I hear much more Robin Trower influence/ similarities.

My main men Mojo and Uncle Ted! Welcome to your first dose of Trower Power! (Trower does rhyme with power) Robin Trower is the guitarist, and does have a Hendrix-like sound. The vocalist and bassist, the late James Dewar, had an awesome blues rock voice, all sandpaper and soul. Both backed on drums by the late, great Reg Isidore. Robin's still going strong in his mid-to-late seventies as well. Lesser mortals may knock his facial expressions, but that's just pure intensity: The man feels every note he hits. There's plenty of material to find here, but if I may be allowed to present my next "joint", how about trying out arguably his best known track, "Bridge of Sighs", the title track of an album I have personally worn out three copies of! I assure you, "Bridge of Sighs" is a big slice of psychedelic blues rock Heaven! Until next time gentlemen, thanks again, and I'll stay groovy and eager for more. One last thing: Few things will make me happier than to help make you both fans of Rory Gallagher AND Robin Trower!
