I got to see this performed live when it was new. Robin Tower was not a Jimi Hendrix imitator. If you know guitar, then you recognize the genius of Robin Trower!
Trower's style, however somewhat reminiscent of Hendrix to many people, had his own primal spin and twist to his guitar virtuosity ... unique, powerful, and spellbinding ... he is, was, and will ever be one of my inspirational Guitar Gods ... :D
Robin was playing while Jimi was but Robin sure turned it upa few notches after Jimi passed.And yes although compared in ways to Jimi had his own style which to me was better! Another one compared to Jimi is Frank Marino who also had a style all his own.Robin and Frank took over big time in the '70's.
I can't believe you're playing Robin Trower, one of my all time favorite guitarists ever! I got to see him in a small venue downtown St. Louis, Missouri and even though James Dewar was no longer with us, they had a young man who killed it! Robin is coming here again this September and I will be there no matter what! He's in his 70's and it may just be the last chance I get to see him again. I wish you bros. could come! Tammie I was lucky enough to see them in St.Louis,Mo in '74 at the Kiel Auditorium and again in '75 at the Fox Theatre and Jimmy was so great on the vocals and of course Robin and Bill Lordan were on fire as well.

I've seen Mr. Trower live 9 times! Legendary and my first guitar god when I was first starting to play blues lead guitar licks. Robin is the master of blues guitar. I'm so glad you praised Robin bcz he's been my guitar hero from the early 70's.

For the record, Robin Trower was not with Procol Harum for "Whiter Shade of Pale." Now that I've gotten that business out of the way, I've got to say Trower is still one of my all-time favorite guitarists. His first few albums were all terrific, especially the iconic second album, Bridge of Sighs. He kind of lost his way a bit in the '80s, but he came back strong in the '90s and is still putting out great albums and live shows now in his 70s.
Robin didn't play lead guitar on the track because there was no lead guitar. However if you watch the original promo music video Robin is there, so he was with Procol Harum.

Robin Trower was a member of the Paramount's along with Gary Brooker, the Paramount disbanded. Gary Brooker wrote the song Whiter Shade Of Pale after leaving the Paramount's but didn't have a band to put an album together. Brooker called his old friends to join him in making the first Procol Harum album. yes, Robin Trower is on that first Procol Harum album, he didn't play guitar on Whiter Shade Of Pale because no guitar was required, but Trower was definitely on that first album and a member of the band for the next 4 albums they released.

I saw Robin Trower in 75` at The Warehouse in New Orleans. Golden Earing opened. Saw him again in 85`. I met and spoke with him backstage at The House Of Blues.
Robin Trower should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. This was my 2nd concert ever after Rush at Cobo Hall In Detroit. Ex Procul Harem guitarist and went solo in the early 70's. He filled the gap after Jimi Hendrix died and boy did he. Robin is known as the King of the Strat and stil is today. This album should be listened to in it's entirety not a bad song on it. We were so lucky to grow up in that generation of music Queen, Rush, Stones, Who, Zeppelin, Sabbath, Uriah Heep and Robin. This opened up a whole generation to the blues , James Dewar was at the top of his game and was one of the best Vocalist/Bass player of all time!!!! RIP JD

So an unassuming guitarist with a group called Procol Harum from the 60's was to one day go solo and become the son of Hendrix. Who knew ? His albums featuring bass + lead vocals the late James Dewar are among the best. His 1st live album from the 70's when he played at Stockholm Hall is a corker. Enjoy discovering this amazing guy and James Dewar was the perfect match for Robin's guitar. Brilliant ! Nice one guys. Too many superb tracks to recommend so I'll just give one - " Daydream"

One of my favorite concerts in 1975 was this tour.....Trower had two walls of Marshall amps. My bother smuggled in a telephone lens and camera and got some great pics of the band. They were fantastic and LOUD. Love Trower....and Dewar....he was a very underrated vocalist.

Also, I get Jimmy Page vibes in parts of the long solo in the second half of the song..LOVE this song and this album and this guitarist! Next song could be the title track Bridge of Sighs....although it is a much “spacier” and more mellow vibe than this song.

Great song , great reaction, The Bridge Of Sighs was the first Robin Trower album I ever bought, the title song Bridge Of Sighs is amazing. I'd also like to see a reaction to Jimie Hendrix, Machine Gun , off the Band Of Gypsies album. I really think that was Hendrix at his best.

You guys NEED to check out the Allman Brothers.... They have a more bluesy feel to their music than Trower but the guitar work is just as good. Check out Whipping Post live at the Fillmore East.. You'll want to hear more after that...
Great song , great reaction, The Bridge Of Sighs was the first Robin Trower album I ever bought, the title song Bridge Of Sighs is amazing. I'd also like to see a reaction to Jimie Hendrix, Machine Gun , off the Band Of Gypsies album. I really think that was Hendrix at his best.
I have been waiting for this one! One of my favorites! Trower plays a killer guitar. Very influenced by Jimi Hendrix and right up there with him.
