- In this video we're checking out Robin Trower. We don't know a whole lot about Robin, except that he was once a member of Procol Harum before going solo. So, we're really excited to hear what he has to offer. Enjoy!

I remember when they started playing Robin Trower on the radio back then...it was like Jimi Hendrix had come back to life in the body of Robin Trower, so perfectly did he capture what Jimi did with his guitar. It was a delightful discovery.
I'll go ahead & recommend *Gonna Be More Suspicious* right now, which is my favorite RT song. It's wah-wah wonderful!
you all are in for a treat
I used to see him in both Procol Harum and Robin Trower Band in the 60's/70's. He was absolutely great!
Robin Trower was known as the strat king and still is today. Robin was my 2nd concert ever after Rush in 74 at Detroit Cobo Hall. He opened up the world of blues for a whole generation. He filled the gap after the death of Hendrix. I saw him 5 times at Cobo and he sold out every concert. James Dewar the bassist/vocalist was one of the best . A great time to grow up we had the best music ever. I don't know why he isn't in the Rock and Roll Hall.
I caught him in 74 also and then in 1975 on the For Earth Below tour at Masonic Temple......Deeetroit.
@@wpollock1 night at the opera Queen @ Masonic. From Windsor just across the river. South Detroit lol
I saw Robin Trower with Jethro Tull, Rick Derringer and Rory Gallagher at the Silverdome in 76! It was awesome!
I'm grateful my older brother turned me on to Trower. Top notch guitar work!
Killer 3 man band.
“ Takers get the honey
Givers sing the blues.” Good one, guys! Had Cynthia doing some serious groovin’! A rocker from Procul Harum with Robin on guitar is “Whiskey Train” from their excellent album “ Home.”
HOME is a great album by my favourite band of all time.
A great follow up would be Whiskey Train a Procol Harum song that Trower wrote along with Harum lyricist Keith Reid and Trower smokes on it.
Great track from a great album by my all time favourite band.
Amazing guitarist, great to see live.
Day Of The Eagle is another staple from Robin Trower
Yep ! Ace
Robin is it. Labelled the 'White Hendrix' which he hated. Only one Jimi as only one Robin. Great power trio with a bass player who had one of the greatest rock/soul voices EVER in Jimmy Dewar. This album sold over 3 million copies in the mid-70's without a single. The first three Trower albums are GREAT. He's still creating and playing today. A maestro in every sense.
Being a Scot, my favourite Robin Trower track is "Caledonia", please give it a listen.
There are a lot of other songs I like, but this whole album and the whole Victims Of The Fury album are golden
This was a huge Album Rock radio hit upon release. The Bass 🔊 Player , not Robin was the vocalist. A fantastic trio they were & Robin a guitar 🎸 virtuoso. Got Blues ? 👍
Very apt to put the 🔊 after 'bass', too! 😁👍
@mightyV444 Thank You ! 😆 🤣

Massive catalog spanning decades. Still tours today. He put out an Epic record in 1987 called Passion. On a very small record Label.
I used to smoke a lot of pot with my friends a listen to this whole album..lol...we loved this guy and i think hes still playing.
👍👍👍👍👍👍
i used to listen to radio caroline when i was young and they were always playing day of the eagle by rpbin trower so went out and bought the bridge of sighs album from which this track comes -- the album still sounds great and is definitely in my top 5 of all time
I do like what I've heard of this guy over the years.
Lol.. I was on the main RUclips page on Sunday morning and I commented on a short which I was enraged about ….. I must’ve used a phrase or word which triggered the “ hate speech/ cyber bullying 😮”bot and I was banned for 24 hours till just then … 😆… sigh..their interpretation of hate or bullying differs WILDLY from mine … hey ho

Not a bad song on the album. All bangers.
@@beatnpotatoes exactly the entire album is good.
Saw him live at Summerfest in Milwaukee many years ago. Third of fourth row. Great show. And this album is fantastic. So many great tracks on it.
I was at the same concert sitting next to the speakers and I still have the ringing in my ears since that day😀 Great concert
Robin Trower is such a groove. You gotta try Bridge of Sighs. Until next time stay well and poppin for fresh. Love you guys
He wanted to stop it to talk but he couldn't because it kept getting better lol
Vocalist for this whole album is bass player James Dewar. I've always thought that his voice and phrasing were a perfect match for Robin Trower's guitar virtuoso. The title track for this album, Bridge of Sighs, would be a great next listen from them. Robin sings in live shows and on recordings nowadays, but in the 70s and early 80s Dewar did all of the vocals.
This should be played loud! It’s a must!
Great choice, Graham. In my opinion, this is the best track on this channel in weeks
Cheers Col ! Cheques in the post .
Yay ! Thank you V much Chris and Cynthia for giving RT a blast , I have been a day out of wack Im starting earlier so I am hrs late on your Triffic Channel ! Cheers for a great reaction ! A very happy old Git I am !
Fantastic
Special next tune call outs - In this place, Gonna Be More Suspicious, Lady Love & Day Dream. Btw, Trower is guitar. James Dewar Bass and bad ass vocals you will come to love. Special time when talents came together to produce some amazing music esp first couple LPs as is common with many bands. Ex Dire Straights LP #1, #2, Master Pieces, but Trower LP Bridge of Sighs is EPIC entire LP.
Robin suffered a bit with the Hendrix comparison but made good records.Recently passed James Dewar was the bassist vocalist.
@GP-mw8ce. Dewar died 21. Years ago. I know !
Why? he literally was directly playing Hendrix style.
Thanks for the correction
Yes agree the style is similar but in the UK at least i believe that the focus was a bit too much on that and not on the fact he is a fantastic guitarist in his own right. My view only@@wendellwiggins2900
Not really my thing, but he is a ridiculously talented player
Hi friends over the water. Have you seen nick cave and the bad seeds live at Austin city limits. The picture is good. And the opening track- jubilee street is excellent. Hope you see this sometime.
He had a steady singer. Robin was heavily influenced by Hendrix if it wasn't OBVIOUS. It was great to continue to hear a side of Jimi through Robin after his passing.
sorry about my horrible misspelling. (corrected)
I love this, I'd not heard this for a while. Although very different in sound this always reminds me of another band (I'm not sure why) and that is, 'Suicide', they have an unusual sound well worth reacting to, I suggest that you start with the tracks, 'Frankie Teardrop', 'Ghost Rider' and 'Dream Baby Dream'.
Jesus no! Don't *start* with Frankie Teardrop, that's definitely a build up! 😂
@@Sandy-dd4le I can see what you mean. 😁
@@Adam_Le-Roi_Davis. Henry Rollins calls Frankie Teardrop, "The single most intense song ever recorded", I have to agree.
Really useful as a tool to make unwanted guests leave your home though!
@@Sandy-dd4le It definitely takes you on a journey. I personally love it, it's my favourite by them.
Did you catch Lydia Lunch and Marc Hurtado doing their Suicide set?
Nothing to say but brilliant....
Sorry to interrupt but in case you guys didn't know, Geordie Walker, the guitarist from the band Killing Joke died a day or so ago. His style and guitar sound is/was unique and suited Killing Joke perfectly. They were not just a post punk band. No chance. Killing Joke are hugely influential. I wondered if you guys would do me the honour if playing a song in memory of Geordie, and that summed the band up. Maybe Love Like Blood or 80's. You won't be disappointed. Thank you.
Yup that’s been brought up already Chris ✊.. I think that’s a great idea , either will do , though I very much lean towards 80’s myself . Cheers buddy
👍🏴
I wonder if you chaps are going to be doing any Christmas theme stuff- most are dreadful, I know, but there must be more to Christmas songs than Shane McGowan, who by the way is on the mend following months in intensive care.
So we all wish him well with his recovery.
We will definitely be getting into some Christmas stuff /winter stuff next month.
There are plenty of songs on the same album.
Please react to SAD SWEET DREAMER by Sweet Sensation. Amazing UK soul band.
Actually liked that song , 1 hit wonder iirc ? ✊

@@jaymacgee_A_Bawbag_Blethering Two hits. They had a big hit with "Purely by Coincidence,"
