Robin Trower ... meh, he's ok I guess. You wanna hear some REAL blues guitar, try Roy Buchanan. His song Pete's Blue should set your hair on fire. By the way, why is Alex wearing two curtains? One curtain isn't good enough for him all of a sudden?
"Bridge of Sighs" is one of the few LP's I can listen to start to finish since I was 17 (when it came out). 65 now, still holds up. Saw Trower in concert at a small venue in 2010, James Dewar (RIP) (Scotland Forever!) did the vocals. Unforgettable. Keep up the Good Work Gentlemen.
I first saw Robin in 1974 in Milwaukee Wi when I was 17 yrs old.Have seen him 5 times since. There seems to be a bit of resurgence in him among a younger crowd and among young African Americans as I have seen on RUclips This heavy blues guitar goes right to your heart and grabs your soul and add James Dewars amazing vocals and bass and one of the first great and unknown black drummers Reggie Isadore.
@@thancrow There isn't a bad song on the album. Still, I absolutely agree the title track should be next, since I think it sets the tone for all the songs that follow.
Them scots can sing and play (write, act, et al). 😎 James Dewar just brings it perfectly with Robin Trower, they both are a tower of power (subdued as it is). Trower Power! ❤
James Dewar is one of the most underrated and unknown vocalist ever. I saw them live in 1976. great concert! Thought you might give it a little bit higher rating but fair enough. Lot's more to listen to from Robin! Enjoy the ride!
Don't ever expect a higher ranking, they really don't like blues/rock and always, ALWAYS give it a piss poor rating. I don't know why they bother to cover any of it.
Imagine growing up listening and seeing Robin Trower, Queen, Led Zeppelin, The Who, Uriah Heep, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, The Stones, ZZ Top and so on like us old guys did. Was the greatest music ever. No effect just plain rock. This album opened up the blues and that's a whole other story... The best time for music ever!!!!
For me, I have to add Jethro Tull to this list. I saw Trower, Zepplin, Uriah Heep, Richie Blackmore (Rainbow), The Stones and ZZ Top. Was an extrodinary time in music.
Omg...Made my day! Been waiting for such a loooong time for you two to experience this song. It is perfection... Down and dirty blues guitar (Trower) and vocals/bass (Dewar). So happy it melted your brains a bit. lol. The entire album is worthy of a listen, but would suggest "Bridge of Sighs" (recorded version - for full effect). Loved this! Have a great one you two. Later! ☺🙌👋

Alex! Diggin the outfit! And I wish I could remember just how many times I bought this album after wearing them out on the turntable from listening to it so often!
Thanks guys, I knew you would love TRS. If you are wanting a live number of his, I highly suggest " Daydream " from his RT Live album. It is my favorite guitar work of his. Be warned, " Daydream " is not a banger, but rather a masterful tasteful guitar blues piece.
React tp "Bridge of Sighs" and "In This Place" back-to-back. They flow together so well and belong together in my opinion. The wind will carry you through to the other side.
The singer was also the bass player in the band. James Dewar, that sadly to say passed at an early age from natural causes. Seems sort of unusual to have the bass as the singer too. But he was in good company; Geddy Lee, Phil Lynott of Thin Lizzy and so forth. Another slower syrupy one off of “Twice removed from Yesterday” is called “Daydream”. Good stuff. Thanks for hitting this one guys, knew you’d love it! 🎸
There are several videos of him playing this live. It’s fun watching him play - you’ll love his “wah” face and how he feels every note he plays. He also plays this song somewhat differently n each one. Love your channel, and I’m glad you got around to this killer song. Another great live one to check out is the live version of Bridge of Sighs (the title track of this album) from a 1975 British TV show.

Little Bit Of Sympathy, Caledonia, The Fool And Me, Lady Love, Alethea, Daydream, Twice Removed From Yesterday, Bridge Of Sighs. A lot of Robin Trower to dig in to and most deep cuts. You've got his biggest two out of the way.
This is one of those tracks I looked forward to hearing when listening to late night FM radio while in college in the 70's. It was like a reward after a long day of classes.
I'm in my mid 40s. Never heard of this band or song. Wow. This was some great music! Psyched to find something new. Thanks for reviewing this tune A&A !
Always drove me nuts when people compared him to Hendrix. A little similarity in the tone, but he has a completely unique guitar voice. It's instantly recognizable, which, in the huge universe of guitar players, is pretty hard to do. Check out his more recent live performances of Bridge of Sighs. He looks like the mummy of Tutankhamun with a Strat around his neck, and his guitar maturity and virtuosity has grown along with all those years. Best guitar face ever.
This was a 70's tune!! You know what condition our condition was in on this whole album!!!! Not to mention most albums back then!!! Woowee!! Giddeeup!!!!!!!

You gotta love all the spontaneous sub-verbals coming from the creatures who had somehow squeezed through the cracks in the floors and walls of the studio. The clapping also sounded unrehearsed and genuine. Refreshing! Somebody shredding to that extent will attract souls like cheap metal to their magnet.
I thought this was going to be S-tier based on their initial comments. If this doesn't get it, I don't think anything in discography will. Maybe Bridge of Sighs, but this is the peak in terms of the all around singing and guitar imo.

ROBIN TROWER LIVE...is the shit. The drummer on that tour brings a hard dirty pocket. Much more funk inflected. It’s an insane album through and through.
Even better is “Little Bit of Sympathy,” the closing track of the same album. For crazy pyrotechnics, “Shame the Devil,” from “For Earth Below.” It made my head explode, the first time I heard it.
Robin Trower is one of the great guitarists in rock history. The timbre he extracts from the guitar is unique. Thing of who is the master of the instrument.
"the takers get the honey....givers sing the blues"....classic line....saw Robin Trower live early 80s in Ottawa at Barrymore's on Bank Street! Robin played with Procul Harum back in the 60s (Whiter Shade of Pale 1967), ,.....and I think he is still touring and turning 76 this year! Insane!
So at a certain point Ian Stewart, the founder and architect of the Rolling Stones, was told by Stones' management he couldnt be in the band. He could play on albums and in shows, but he could not be in any pictures or be listed anywhere as a member of the group. He did nt project the right image. Robin Trower felt the label he was signed to, Chrysalis, was trying to do similar things to him, make him a 'guitar god' and a 'rock star' - he was noy interested. The biggest band on the label, Jethro Tull, was wild and flamboyant on stage and they wanted more of this kind of thing from Trower. Also they didn't want the lead singer to double as the bass player, they wanted a stand alone singer like Jagger, Mercury, Daltrey or Plant ( Trower and James Dewar eventually caved on this ) So being ' Too Rolling Stoned' means caving to the image makers rather than just playing music.
James Dewar was one of rock's great singers and hellova bass player. Doesn't get enough credit. I have seen Robin in concert many times and always a great show.
Great that you guys did Mr Trower! I heard this album just after it was released. My sister got it somewhere and told me not to listen to it. But boy I did. I love this album. (BTW Later my sister gave it to me) A & A thanks and keep up the good work. Enjoy.

Highly underrated!..He came at a time when the market was saturated with good guitar players and never got his praise!!
Bridge of Sighs should be the next one.
I saw Robin Trower at the House of Blues in Chicago. He was outstanding.
Robin F’n Trower 🎸🤘
I saw Robin trower open for Jethro Tull at the Portland Or Colisieum in 1972, Awesome
Lucky you
OK Rory is waiting for his turn ;)
This is an incredible tune
I concur
Fed up with telling them and emailing links, falling on deaf ears I believe
Yes! What tunes should we hit from him?!
@@derbyphoter do you know how many people are doing the same
@@derbyphoter Oh looky, they're asking for Rory suggestions. Get one in!
Robin Trower is one of the great guitarists in rock history. The timbre he extracts from the guitar is unique. Thing of who is the master of the instrument.
"A Tale Untold" or , of course their most popular song, "Bridge Of Sighs".
Did Alex lose a bet?
@TM Songvids Hahahaha! 😆
I think the Ringling Bros clown college is in Florida... maybe he got a scholarship! ;)
If not, he should lie and say he did lol
Maybe his girlfriend is dressing him!
Half his mom's pj's, half his dad's? I'm just glad he has enough balls to wear it, and not even address it! 👍😁
Great that you guys did Mr Trower! I heard this album just after it was released. My sister got it somewhere and told me not to listen to it. But boy I did. I love this album. (BTW Later my sister gave it to me) A & A thanks and keep up the good work. Enjoy.
"Bridge of Sighs" and "Little Bit of Sympathy" next please. ✌😁👍
It's always cool when you younguns hear a classic rock song before I do. What a banger! Never heard of this song, this group, anything.
I think I’ll just sit this one out .....but I’m too rolling stoned 🤘✌️
I've seen Trower 9 times live in concert. He used to play every year in Seattle at the Ballard Firehouse, where I saw him 4 times and Portland Oregon too. He used to play at the Roseland Theater on Burnside Avenue, downtown Portland every year too, I saw him there 3 times. This song totally rocks and he used to open up his shows with this one! TROWER FOREVER!!!!!!
