"So you want to hear another story...
    Let me see...,
    Ah yes...,
    How about this one...!,
    [chuckling] - heh-heh-he"
    [Spoken Word]
It was supposed to be a routine run
I had been a space captain for ten years, hauling cargo through the vast, empty stretches of space. Loneliness had become my companion, the hum of the engines my lullaby. Nothing surprised me out there anymore, or so I thought.
I was halfway through the haul from Alpha Centauri to Earth, a trip I'd made countless times. My ship, the Trojan Star, was humming along, and everything seemed normal. I leaned back in my seat, staring out at the endless void, stars scattered like diamonds on black velvet. Routine, monotonous, almost tranquil. Until it wasn’t.
It started with the lights. A soft flicker, barely noticeable at first. I checked the systems-everything read normal. Yet, the flickering persisted, growing more frequent. Then came the whispers. I thought I was imagining them, the murmurs of a language I couldn’t understand, echoing through the corridors. I searched the ship, but it was empty. Just me and the cargo, like always.
Then, one night-or was it day? Time blurs out here-I saw it. A shadow flitting past the viewport. I told myself it was space debris, a trick of the light, but deep down, I knew it was something more. The whispers grew louder, clearer, and I felt a presence on my ship, an unseen passenger.
I tried to sleep, but dreams and reality began to intertwine. I saw flashes of strange landscapes, alien skies, and then, I saw them. A creature, tall and ethereal, with eyes that seemed to pierce through my very soul. It wasn’t human, not even close, but its gaze held a haunting intelligence.
I woke up gasping, sweat pouring down my face. I rushed to the bridge, but the shadow was gone. The whispers, however, remained, now almost a chant, resonating through my mind. And then, it appeared. Standing in the corridor, as real as the walls around me.
The alien was translucent, shimmering, almost beautiful in a terrifying way. It spoke, its voice echoing within my skull. I couldn’t understand the words, but I felt them-an ancient warning, a desperate plea. Before I could react, it reached out, and I felt a sharp pain in my chest. Darkness consumed me.
I awoke back in my seat, with the Trojan Star approaching Earth. The whispers were gone, but a strange sensation lingered in my chest, a dull ache, an alien presence. I docked at the spaceport, feeling a mix of relief and dread. Medical scans have showed nothing unusual, yet I know something is wrong. As I step onto solid ground, I feel it-a ripple of energy, a shift in the air around me, yet I am strangely compelled to say nothing.
I have just passed through the immigration and quarantine checks undetected, the alien presence masking its influence on me. I realise I am a carrier now, infected, my thoughts no longer solely my own. Images of Earth’s cities, teeming with life, flood my mind.
The alien’s will is clear: to use me to infiltrate, to infect and spread whatever I have become, to destroy humanity from within.
    [dramatic instrumental]
I struggle to regain control, but the alien’s grip is strong. It whispers promises of power, of a new order, as it pushes me forward. I see myself, a puppet, moving through the crowds, unnoticed, undetected.
I am the harbinger of doom, carrying the seed of humanity’s destruction.
As I walk away from the spaceport, the alien’s thoughts and mine merge, a singular focus on the mission at hand. I can only hope for moments of clarity, brief flashes of resistance, but I know deep down, the battle is already lost.
The universe will never be the same, and neither will I…
I wonder who my first victim will be…
    [Shouting] - “Taxi!!.. “
