Frostpunk 2 is the sequel to the highly acclaimed, BAFTA-nominated society survival game that blended city building, strategy and management gameplay, creating a brand new genre. Its successor takes place 30 years after the apocalyptic blizzard storm, and Earth is still overwhelmed by the neverending frost and harsh, icy climate.
You play as the leader of a resource-hungry metropolis where the expansion and search for new sources of power is an unavoidable reality. After the age of coal, conquering Frostland for the oil extraction industry is expected to be the new salvation of what’s left of humanity. However, change does not come easily, and not everyone in this new multi-layered society will welcome this new direction.
Demands and expectations of various factions will raise tensions and evoke conflicts, but will a cold-blooded rule and a machiavellian approach to politics be necessary? As the everlasting cold continues its grip on the city and outside threats arise, you’ll need to make sure your people are united, driven, and ready for difficult, unavoidable sacrifices!

As someone who works in the oil industry and deeply understands oil history, seeing the oil in the snow and on the guy sent chills
And the blood, don't forget the blood.

I do not work in the oil industry and am completely ignorant of what oil history means. It gave me creepy vibes but I wouldn't say chills. Can you elaborate for an idiot? I even googled the term and didn't get much that made sense to me.
@@SisuTheShattered during the early years after the American Civil War, oil was quickly becoming a booming industry. Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas were quickly becoming oil boom states. Lots of competition, dangerous conditions, men would come home caked in oil according to some. Actual violence sometimes. Basically, seeing the image of the man caked in oil and the old oil rigs reminded me of the surprisingly dark early days of the oil industry here is the US

11bit, I'm so happy to see your success.
I played the original in 2018 before leaving for post-secondary. A year later my parents disowned me and my education bankrupted me. While I was living out of a tent and working two full-time construction jobs I'd listen to the frostpunk soundtrack, especially the bonus track with the electric guitar. It gave me hope. Three years later I have a big enough nest egg to finish my post-secondary and am restarting this week.
Frostpunk is more than game for me: its a symbol. I feel like I lived Frostpunk: 16 hour shifts, emergency overtime in the lumber yard I was working in, struggling to survive the winter in my tent, but always saying to myself, "those who make sacrifices today will reap the rewards of tomorrow". Now I have a roof over my head, a mattress with sheets, a pillow, and a comfy job I can work until I finish my bachelor of science.
Thank you, you helped me survive.
I'm looking forward to frostpunk2 very much.

They used a typeface similar to the one(Futura) that began to be made in the early 1920s and It was when oil began to be actively used. I love that how they design every detail of this game and form a brand so that gamers immerse in the game without themselves knowing.
Even the graphic design bits in this games are great, I can't wait to buy it!

Oh God, how long has the winter been
Honestly, 11 bit studios is one of the few game developers that I actually trust to nail every aspect of a game. The music, art, mechanics, and feel of the first frostpunk were all incredible, and the way they handled the choices you made was quite thought provoking. If you went full dictator or full zealot, it let you, with just the occasional feeling of "is this really what you want?" Then, when you've reached the end, survived the storm, you look back, and think of all the atrocities you committed in the name of survival, and wonder "was that really the right thing to do?"
All that to say, I really liked the first game, and can't wait to see what they do with the second, and how they evolve their gameplay from the first.

Nope not just 1 month it's longer if you include all the extra content.
I like the imagery of the blood transitioning into oil, most likely trying to convey how invaluable it will be in the game. You could even say it’s “your lifeblood”
The generator Mk 2 doesn't need those old dusty black rocks! It now runs on efficient oil! It has nothing to do with us burning most of it during the storm or anything...
@SephirothRyu Alternatively, the Coal Mines of New London were bled dry, so it's people were forced to find an alternative fuel source to power the Generator, the only thing keeping them alive.
The most stressed I've ever been was when I played frostpunk for an entire day and beat it. I was knackered by the end of it, sheer exhaustion. Sigh, sign me up for the sequel.

I remember the first time I 'beat' the game. I was so immersed that I played until my eyes and back hurt and the pain forced me to sleep. Then I woke up, I went straight to playing, not eating and only stopping to use the bathroom like once every 7-8 hours. In my mind, I thought, "these people need me! There's no time for food and sleep!"
I bet. Just got this game yesterday as I was sick this weekend so I just chilled in a blanket at my desk logging 17 hours in just the last 2 days and jeez was I surprised when they tied me up to the generator just to steam me to death..everything was going good untill all those refugees showed up with sick people then the snow storm hit..

Despite the bleakness and depressing atmosphere this and the game reeks, often showing us that our attempts to survive might be all futile in the end. It also shows us to have hope, a motivation to push forward, to never loose our aspirations as we go through all the hardships they decided to throw on us, as the proverb says “There’s always a light in the end of the tunnel” and i can speak confidently that Frostpunk resonates that in great effect. Don’t loose hope, and perhaps…

I recently picked up Frostpunk during the 2022 Steam winter sale (how appropriate) ... and my life was forever changed. As many others have said, Frostpunk is an outstanding game in so many regards. If you are reading this, 11 Bit Studio, I want you to know that I am someone who wasn't interested in city-builder games ... but you have fully converted me to the genre and I can't get enough - Thank you, thank you, thank you !!!

They didn’t just release a few dlc and call it a day, they released dlc that introduced new challenges and mechanics in a fun and interesting way, so excited for the sequel cuz I’m 100% for whatever these guys make

Yeah, the description does say that Oil is now "The Next Big Thing" in the Frostlands. Whether it replaces Coal completely or it's a special fuel remains to be seen.

Well if you think about it the main stories took place months before the Great Storm so they did not have that much time to explore the landscape for oil and shit.
But now it seems like they're going towards the direction of resource wars between Generator cities, which I'm fond of.
So basically, the society that thrived on coal will inevitably clash with those that have a desire to upgrade their source of fuel production. Oil is a big step and not so different from our history despite their endless winter debacle.

5 hours into the main campaign, I already thought this was a good game. After reaching the end and seeing the timelapse, together with the messages from the actions my community made, I honestly teared up and decided this was a GREAT game.

I always had an idea that some meteorite that possesses the temperature of Absolute Zero or a temp. close to it hit Earth and is absorbing all of Earth’s heat as a result of it coming into contact with matter warmer than itself.

This War of Mine & Frostpunk were both masterpieces in writing, atmosphere, music and gameplay. Incredibly fun time-sinks and I can't wait to see where they take the sequel. Very few games make me feel like I'm truly immersed but 11 Bit achieve this seamlessly on a relatively simple platform.

11 bit studios, this is a dream come true for me. I do a lot of Winter camping with my Huskys and Hilleberg tents and i love Snowboarding and Skiing here in Switzerland.
And I absolutely *love* Frostpunk and the art-style, feeling and emotion i get from the first one!

The first game is one of my personal GOATs. Nothing matches the bleakness of the setting and the sense of involvement in surviving the brutal winter. Thank you 11 bit studios for continuing this franchise!

This concept always felt amazing because you can literally explore a frozen planet and see what people came with to survive: huge generators, maybe digging closer to the core, maybe fleeing South thinking the frost won't reach there or perhaps building gas pipes that burn until the gas runs out. So many ideas to play with so many places to visit and stories to tell.

Ты снова хочешь спасать поселение борясь со временем (которое у них в играх обычно кончается) использую везде и всюду одну и ту же выигрышную стратегию? Тебе это доставляет удовольствие, играть в стратегию без возможности идти своим путем и развивать свою стратегию? Чему все так обрадовались? Игры еще не видели, а челики походу поставили на конвеер идею и будут ее досуха выживать меняя лишь малые детали и делая ролики дороже чем потратили на саму игру.

Если у тебя получалось выживать одной стратой, это не значит что все остальные делали так же. Игруля ещё не вышла, а у тебя уже полыхает о том, что она будет конвеерной. Инди студия делает конвеерные игры, ты сам веришь во что говоришь то? Только в ру комьюнити есть такие люди, которым надо свою чернь выплеснуть наружу. В других комьюнити тоже есть такие, но в процентном соотношении они мизерная часть по сравнению с ру. Дождитесь релиза геймплея, прежде чем вонь свою распространять. Гг

I have been a huge fan of 11 bit studios ever since i was a kid! I remember the reason why i started enjoying such grim,atmospheric, morally questioning and yet incredibly realistic games and stories was because of The War of Mine. Both The War of Mine and FrostPunk is such games that you can play again and again with some breaks and get the same goosebumps as you first started playing.
You guys are one of the rare studios that i *know* will deliver a truly passionate games! Keep up the good work, i want to be thrown into another dystopia with incredible soundtrack!

Брат а подскажи у тебя игра не вылетает ? У меня 7700к 32 Гб оперативной 1080 все на ссд и творится какая то жесть, напомню до какого дня доиграл но не так долго
И стало вылетать через минуту игры. Все советы в интернете не помогают

Т.е. ты раз за разом выполнял одни и те же действия что бы добиться победы? И в чем смысл? В первом фростпанке была только одна выигрышная стратегия приводившая к победе, отклонения от нее приводили к поражению. Как кто-то приписывает слова Эйнштейну, но это не так, так было сказано что выполнение одних и тех же действий в надежде на иной результат - это безумие.
@@-Zhora_Kornev- ну там есть минимум 3 концовки (они немного отличаются) + Last Autumn + Падение Винтерхоума + On the Edge 2 концовки.
@@-Zhora_Kornev- Я заходил играть в разное время, а те же сценарии играл на на разных сложностях, потом была цель - пройти каждый режим на максимальной сложности. После этого я перестал играть. К примеру в бесконечные режимы играть неинтересно, там через дней 30-50 ты выходишь на стабильное плато обилия ресурсов и проблем как бы нет.

Got the game for free, never really had any plans to play it much less buy it, but honestly I played about 30 min and it seems like a great game, I think you guys put a lot of thought and care in your game and that's a big deal these days

Please take your time you guys and release a finished product. The most refreshing game I've played in years has been Frostpunk mainly because the game felt finished at launch, which sadly is becoming a foreign concept to game developers and publishers.

So, as a long time frostpunk player I feel like i have a good grasp of the gameplay and strategies.
My question then becomes, what are you doing in order to make the game a challenge to those who are familiar with the original?

Well it seems we were on the mark with the 1916 year from after On the Edge! Still, looking forward to this alot. I had tons of fun with the original, and I am sure it will be no different with this one.

and then there are another 8 people needing treatment. And another 6. And then your infirmary closes down because temperature dropped by 3 because why not
And you can do nothing than smiling while your beloved colony falls to chaos as the coal mines stop working as nobody is healthy enough anymore to do something
(honestly if you ever find out how to get these archievements, please tell me. To many colonists died at "new Vienna Mark 1-24")
@@andrefasching1332 I know all of those feeling far too well. There’s always that point we’re you think “I’m doing ok” and the moment later. Temperature drops , building stop working, food production stops and you think “it’s happened again” hahah. I’ll definitely come back to post if I manage to do any of them 🤞🏻
I hope we get to experiment with more political standards. The last autumn did that really well.
Personally I'm thinking more Lasse-fare approach could be introduced less optimal/ stressful work environments make people happier or something like that. Let them sort it out.
I'm hoping this might introduce something like combat into the game, having to keep your city from freezing to death while competing for resources in wars with branch cities
Sometimes life has great surprises. Just yesterday I was talking to a friend how I have the random urge to play Frostpunk again and that I hope 11 bit studios will continue to do thought provoking, mature, unique games like this war of mine or frostpunk. Now I see there will be Frostpunk 2. Although I would have liked to see a new IP and direction, I won't complain! Frostpunk is a wonderful game in so many regards and also may have some food for thought and value for us in real life considering the challenges we face today like climate change.
It was only natural that a sequel would come for Frostpunk and that it would go into dieselpunk (oil) technology. Frostpunk is 11bit studio's most successful game, This War of Mine got them noticed, but Frostpunk turned everyones' heads like a beacon in the Frostlands. The lore and setting they have cultivated with the expansions deserves to be fleshed out even more. I've been waiting a long time for this. This game will help them do even more games like This War of Mine, the smaller deep dive stories.

i have 370 hours in the first game but honestly i can't squeeze even a single more moment out of it because its a type of game that has limited replayablity, so i'm super hyped for more content
The MUSIC is just so AWESOME!
Ever since I got a computer that could play this it has been played at least weekly. My son loves this game even more than me, he is 8. When I showed him he could zoom in and really SEE the details of the buildings and people he was zooming whenever he was playing. Watching as the buildings change as you upgrade them.
We are having a hard time waiting. So more trailers would be awesome!
Literal chills... I am so excited for this sequel. The first game is one of my all time favourite strategy/resource management game and music insanely good.

What i'd love to see, is the ability the erect a MASSIVE dome over the crater that the town is in, and while it largely solving the heat problem, it creating a fresh air problem.
Obviously it'd be an endgame upgrade costing MASSIVE amounts of steel and stuff
Frostpunk is so immersive I play it in the summer to cool off.

AMAZING. I only discovered the game a few months ago, but it's easily one of my fave games of the past decade. Amazing mechanics, and incredible art, music, and theme as well. Cannot wait for this sequel! :D
11 Bit, I hope you know that all of your games have transcended the very medium of video gaming. A video game allows us to interact with a virtual world for the purpose of user engagement and entertainment, but your games manage to do that AND far, far more. While I interacted with Frostpunk and This War of Mine, so too did these games interact with me. I now wake up every day being thankful for the warmth and shelter I enjoy. I take extra time when taking stock of food and gas I have in the real world because I’m acutely aware of how precious they can become in a crisis. I always prepare for storms, no matter their size. I make sure my family is alright on the off chance some external force causes things to suddenly go wrong. Your games, while enjoyable and fun in their own right, have imparted new lessons and self-awareness of my own human condition that have kept me coming back time and time again for new perspectives. And now with Frostpunk 2, I am excited to see what new artistic gameplay you’ll present to us players. Good luck with the last legs of development, ya’ll. We’re all rooting for you.
The Prince Of Egypt did this for me too, I love things that remind us just how hard some people's lives are by actually putting us in their position, charities would do well to do this.

When I first saw a frostpunk ad I thought I’d be one of the workers and it was some kind of action game. I was misled, but not disappointed.
