Low key kind of sad that Erik doesn’t reprise this song at the end. I think it so perfectly foreshadows Eriks final decision and character development at the end of the musical. He’s realized that their relationship was never meant to be and is willing to let her go, knowing that his time with her meant something even if it didn’t last.
i love how you see sierra styles her voice throughout the whole show. here she makes herself a little nervous and unsure but by the end she's like BAM and no one can ever compare
@@chummanki9711 what I think Alba Duran is talking about is In the book, while in her dressing room Christine tells Erik "I sing only for you. tonight I gave you my soul and I am dead." The most beautiful modern Opera since the 1950s. A sad reminder both classic rock and true opera music is utterly gone from the culture scene. These days indie pop and underground hip hop may be the best. What we need is a go back to the classic styles and a forward look to new talent and creative energy...
@Rayah Yehnert Actually, Raoul's redemption arc in LND was the only time I liked him. In POTO he was a pompous dandy (not to mention condescending, every time Christine voiced her concerns about the phantom), whom they try to portray as a knight in shining armor, but seeing him humbled and imperfect in "Why does she love me" really did it for me.
The only reason Raoul is seen as "bad" is because everybody feels sorry for the Phantom, yet nobody ever takes into consideration of how Raoul knew Christine FAR before the Phantom ever did, so it's no wonder he's so desperate when another man enters the mix. Then, throughout the entire show, Christine asks Raoul REPEATEDLY to protect her from the Phantom, which he tries his best to do. Finally, in the Final Lair, he makes the ultimate sacrifice in giving his life so that Christine can live her own however she pleases without Erik continuously tormenting her mind. Phantom recognizes this, which is why he lets Raoul go, because he sees just how in love he is with her and how much he cares. That being said, I've played Raoul before, so I may seem a bit biased xD it's fine to choose Erik if you so wish, but Jesus, at least don't hate Raoul for loving the girl. Can you really blame him?
Raoul only gets hated because he is overshadowed by the roles of Christine and the Phantom. A plain and simple case of "Die For Our Ship"... No matter that he genuinely loves Christine, tries her best to protect her like she asks him to do. Sad that so many fans does remember that amazing songs and a genuinely sympathetic freudian excuse does not change the fact that the Phantom is the VILLAIN of the play, and that the whole point of the story is that he eventually realizes that claiming her does not mean owning her, and that he is not worthy of her because of this. YES the Phantom is tragic, YES he is meant to be pitied in the end, YES he is a genius architect, musician and singer, YES he is a cool villain, but he is also an emotionally stunted, obsessive, unhinged, creepy stalker, who exerts an almost hypnotic sway on her, emotionally abuses her, and watches her every move. He is a stalker, an abuser, an extortionist, a vandal, a blackmailer, and a friggin' murderer, who kills two innocents in cold blood (three in the book). So NO, sorry to some fans, but someone like him, no matter how talented and tragic belongs in a psych ward, not a wedding altar. Ok, expecting shitstorm in 5. 4. 3. 2. 1...

Think of me, think of me fondly,
when we've said goodbye.
Remember me
every so often
promise me you'll try.
And on that day, that not so distant day,
When you are far away and free
if you ever find a moment,

And though it's clear, though it always clear,
that this was never meant to be
If you happen to remember
stop and think of me . . .
Think of august when the world was green
don't think about the way,
things might have been. .
Think of me, think of me waking,
silent and resigned.
Imagine me, trying too hard
to put you from my mind.
Think of me
Please say you'll think of me,
Whatever else you choose to do,
there will never be a day,
when I won't think of you . . .

Can it be? Can it be Christine?

Long ago, it seems so long ago
How young and innocent we were...
She may not remember me,
but I remember her...

but please promise me, that sometimes
you will think of me!
