Yeah I got one of the cheap bronze series warlocks back in the day. Definitely has its issues but it should at the price I paid. I plan to fix it up to a higher quality since I'm not willing to spend close to 1000 on a new one

Nice to see BC Rich guitars getting the spotlight, but I really do wish they would start making NJ 's in Japen again. These are ALL NJ Series? But yet again none of them are MADE IN JAPAN. Atleast I have an original 1984 BC Rich NJ Series (actually made in Japan), which has the original specially made Dimarzio PUPs.
24 5/8th's is the same scale Kerry King's BC Rich guitars also have, just FYI. Also $750 for a Kahler trem is for some really specific/rare finish, it's closer to $400 for a normal steel/nickel finish.

I've been seeing the USA custom going for around 3k. There's one on reverb right now for $2,800. Not the worst for a USA custom. But you can also just buy the standard series version of the guitar for under 1k.
A BC Rich Warlock was chosen because my brother Curtis (who is one of the writers and producers on the show) played a BC Rich Warlock bass when he was a kid in the 80s.

The first warlock ive ever seen was on a tv show called IM IN A BAND and fell in love with them then my dad found one in a house and gave it to me. play it non stop until it fell and the head broke off it. it had a crack in the neck when i got it.
In general I've always disliked the Warlock guitars and never became fanatical for Stranger things but a friend of mine got the $899 version of this guitar when they first released it in which I quickly learned the story behind it at my place of work where I'm a full time guitar repair tech now but I've also been working on guitars since the mid 80s and my clients tell me they love my setups and I love doing the work So that being said this friend had me set his up for him I was actually impressed with the look And straight out of the box felt the guitar was also not half bad as for a factory setup compared to most other guitars I see at even way higher price points and trust me I see many ever day I go to work The look & feel of this guitar is great imho regardless of what I'm hearing The neck, fretwork is nicely done with no fret sprout and the satin finish on the back of neck is a very cool touch The body has great mass with a super nice finish and feel to the finish The Floyd works fine just as it should which i see no issues with once set up It flutters & dive bombs very well returning to pitch with no issues but if you understand any decent locking trem there's no reason it shouldn't The fine tuners turn nice and smooth with no gritty feel which is more than I can say for so many others at a much higher price point The pickups sound great to me and have plenty shred power with awesome slightly scooped mid tone I'm actually impressed with this beast of a guitar Price wise when comparing to what I see everyday where I work there's really nothing to bitch about and it even comes with a very nice red & black gig bag made very well,has 3 nice sized pockets and custom to fit the contents To be fair and honest about the 2 that I've worked on at this point I think this is nice guitar regardless of what Im seeing and hearing in some of the reviews around the web I see so many guitars every day with ridiculous price tags way higher than this and don't even include any kind of carry bag or case Not to mention the storyline behind this guitar makes it even that much cooler
I thought BC Rich was defunct. It’s really cool to learn that they’re back and getting this sort of exposure. Now, I need to find the name of the black BC rich single-cut with a rotary toggle-switch, that my dad had for about a week in 1990. I’ve never seen another like it.
@@DoctorFish10 Just checked & nope. I have no idea what model it was. It was a basically a Les Paul copy. I remember it had a rotary switch, which I’d never had on a guitar before. My dad was a collector and sometimes a great guitar would only hang-out for a while before he’d move-it. This was one of those. He left me 74-guitars when he passed.
@@hailmaryrecordings8255 Since you said your dad was a collector, it's possible that the guitar had a previous owner and said previous owner maybe stole a rotary switch off of a Mockingbird or something like that and just wired that in instead of the regular Les Paul switch, since that was the only guitar I could find that came with a rotary varitone from the factory. Edit: I did find ONE BC Rich Les paul copy guitar called a Stryker, and it's signed by the Journey band members. Edit #2: Scratch that, I found two, both Black. One is a Stryker, other is just called a BC Rich LP, apparently made in 1991 that is also all black, but has the normal les paul switch down by the knobs, whereas the Stryker is a normal Les Paul button layout. However, I found a BC Rich Les Paul Bass that had the rotary switch, but it's not black.
*Disclaimer: I love "Stranger Things", I think it's one of the very few ONLY new shows that isn't garbage. Also I am a musician and been playing guitar for 23+ years. That said...I really like the character of Eddie Munson, the scene with him playing that song was so above and beyond pretty much ANY scene on any show ever where a character plays guitar. He was ACTUALLY playing the correct parts, even the lead parts we could see were correct. Which of course as we all know now...is because the actor can actually play the guitar. It was a great casting job and it brought my respect for the duffer bros to an even higher tier that they bothered to put that much attention to detail as to make sure the guitar playing looked real.... seriously...this is NOT something that EVER happens on shows or movies in general. It's so incredibly rare. Apparently I cannot give this enough praise to reach the level of praise that this attention to detail deserves.... Ok...that said.... ENOUGH already with the Eddie Munson fever lol. I was right there with everyone else and loved the scene, I loved the boost Metallica got from it, I loved seeing Metallica embrace it and embrace Eddie Munsons actor and even play with him on stage. Such a genuine cool classy move. But it's officially getting out of hand, or off the rails or whatever is the best description. An Eddie Munson GUITAR now? Come on...really? While I do love the idea of players paying attention to B.C Rich again...this just doesn't...feel quite right. It doesn't feel genuine and natural like all the previous things that paid tribute to one of the coolest scenes on any show ever. I'm very worried the pendulum is going to swing the other way and unfortunately it's already seeming to be happening. Metallica's "new" fans are discovering old AF footage and stuff about Metallica that they don't like...aww. Thru are trying to spam their "D n D" "Cancel" spell on them as we speak. Their are now bizarre "anti Eddie" tik tok phase emerging for...idefk why but it's happening. I don't know why our society is so horribly broken...but enjoy these guitars and things now because that pendulum is just getting started.
My best friend in high school had a 80’s Mockingbird. One of the best guitars I’ve ever played. Awesome rock and metal tones when plugged into the Marshall. Super easy to play.
You could argue B.C Rich we’re the first iconic guitar shapes in the 70’s and 80’s after the golden age of 1950-1965. I have a Korean Lefty Warlock that looks fantastic. Unfortunately it tunes like a rubber band attached to a cornflake box.
Honestly I just hope this means BC Rich is gonna start making a comeback because finding new ones is borderline impossible and the used market is so expensive, I’d kill to get a reissue of the Joey Jordison Warlock, even if I’ve gotta change out the pickups
So I can spend 4.5k on the custom shop one oorrrrr I can buy the Asia made one and replace the pickups/trem and tuners and have basically the same guitar for 2k 🤔

Bit gutted that when I pre ordered one it was advertised with a floyd rose original and they’re turning up with a special. When mine arrives I’ll see if I like it but if I can’t get on with the bridge I think it might be a return/sale job.
Try to get them to compensate for this. I've heard a few cases where people got either a part of their money back or got it upgraded to a 1000 series Floyd for free
in 1985 I traded in my first ever guitar (an Ibanez Roadstar II) for a Black NJ Series Warlock (im fairly certain it was like $4-$500 ) I bought a Kahler and my father installed it (slightly off center lol). Id like to be one of those people that reminisce about their first guitar, I honestly do not remember a single thing about playing it, it was decades ago. I sold it to a friend for 100 bucks and I bought a brand new Gun Metal gray Charvel USA with a single Hum and Kahler, pointy headstock along with a CRATE G40C combo. I will say I do remember how comfortable the Warlock actually was and I like the headstock of these NJ models.
My first guitar was a hand me down BC Rich in horrible shape but it still played and felt great. Not sure about these days but in the nineties they were definitely quality axes.
Same. My first guitar was a BC Rich Mockingbird given to me by a girlfriend. It had "made in California" on the neck plate and it was made in the 1990s. Sold it for next to nothing, wonder where that beast is now.
I don't want number 57, there's some kind of smudge or grease or finish flaw on the back? One thing I hate, is on the internet, ppl get brand new untouched guitars, but In the real world,many of us have bought "brand new" and been fucked over where you there's only a floor model that's been banged or dinged, and you just gotta kind of live with it.paying brand new price,for a not brand new guitar.
They give you the "we opened it to check if it was okay" when the reality is guys have been sticking their dirty hands all over it, hands that were recently down the front of their pants, unwashed from any trip to the bathroom or picked and wiped noses, ear explorations etc. Gross!

I'd be pissed getting a "USA custom shop" and getting that I just bought a blemished epi p90 Les Paul Jr and it just came in.and I was expecting blemished but this things all scuffed up all over the place. Not too happy about it

Crazy to think that that Bernie Rico designed that body shape back in 1969.
Bernie didn’t design it in 69 , he used the Bich body laid out on graph paper as a template and made some changes. That was in 1980.

Good luck with those, I had two warlocks, and a warbeast, the quality is not all that great, the warbeast was my favorite of the two.
Hope they do more of the Standard one or even a more budget one. I reckon they would sell through the roof. Missed opportunity I reckon.

My first guitar was a hand me down BC Rich in horrible shape but it still played and felt great. Not sure about these days but in the nineties they were definitely quality axes.
Same. My first guitar was a BC Rich Mockingbird given to me by a girlfriend. It had "made in California" on the neck plate and it was made in the 1990s. Sold it for next to nothing, wonder where that beast is now.

I don't want number 57, there's some kind of smudge or grease or finish flaw on the back? One thing I hate, is on the internet, ppl get brand new untouched guitars, but In the real world,many of us have bought "brand new" and been fucked over where you there's only a floor model that's been banged or dinged, and you just gotta kind of live with it.paying brand new price,for a not brand new guitar.
They give you the "we opened it to check if it was okay" when the reality is guys have been sticking their dirty hands all over it, hands that were recently down the front of their pants, unwashed from any trip to the bathroom or picked and wiped noses, ear explorations etc. Gross!
@@deaddoll1361 exactly.pretty sure that guitar in the video is scuffed in 2 spots, looks like something swiped it. The side of an amp, a broom handle or sumthing. I'd be pissed getting a "USA custom shop" and getting that
I just bought a blemished epi p90 Les Paul Jr and it just came in.and I was expecting blemished but this things all scuffed up all over the place. Not too happy about it
Shame people have still not guitars they ordered 2 years ago from them but have all the time in the world to churn these out 🙃🙃🙃
