man just changed my lights. thanks for the video i was lost. and it was a PITA.lol. hands barely fit back there.
This video was a real lifesaver. I would NEVER have found those trim bolts, I was going about it all wrong.
Ok very good video and I have some information that I encountered. I needed a metric 11 deep socket to reach the nuts that hold the assembly around the headlight. Well had to removed both batteries, and then the battery bracket on the passenger side of the truck. Easier isn't the issue its the necessary. Took me 2 days to do this job. Oh yeah the clip issue they break off easy to get out with needle pliers and awl, nope didn't work. So ordered the clips from your company which I was so thankful that I was able to get them. But I learned a great lesson and if I ever have to do this job again or help someone will have some valuable information. Stuff is so hard to get too. But done it and so glad that I attempted it. The video was helpful I can say that.
Good video. I just replaced the passenger side turn signal lens/housing on my 96 F150. It's a very early 96 which was built in August of 95 and those nuts are 11mm in mine as well.

thank you for the video. bought the complete replacement set for a 97 f350 from you. those clips that keep the headlight in were quite a headache. had no clue how to take out the assembly until I watched this. thanks again.
+BrockL191 Thanks for watching. Hope the repair went well 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
VERY helpful video! Other diy videos I've seen they say you have to disassemble the whole grill and front to replace the headlights
Be sure to listen to these other guys and buy extra clips. They have been on my pickup for 23 years. I only got two off without breaking. Never would have found the 11mm nuts without this video. They are well hidden.
+JWelchon Thanks for checking us out. 1aauto.com
This job is very time consuming but i managed to get it done thanks to your video
Would have NEVER figured it out but for this video!!! SO GLAD someone went thro the effort to show this!
Great video. Never would have found those nuts. They were 11mm on my 96 7.3 f250.
no they wernet 11 mm nut that size isnt even used
My '97 F350 had 11mm nuts also. It's probably first time I've ever used any of my 11mm sockets on anything. They were definitely bigger than 10, and smaller than 12. Threads were rusty, cut one off on one side with a sawzall, broke another off on the other side with the 11mm deep dish socket. The clips were a pain. I was able to loosen them up with bent tip snap ring pliers and a small flat screwdriver.
I believe ford used both sizes. Depends on what assembly plant they were built at. Why that is idk but I’m sure ford isn’t the only one who does that. Odd inconveniences. I’m sure those nuts aren’t the only ones that vary slightly in sizes. Bolts are no different.
I did my F-150 the same way. Doubtless no different than the F-250. Thanks for the suggestion,
Thank you brother!! That was really helpful for me. I'm trying to ship this F150 to Tanzania and use it in my American farm Country in Africa. You are my savior for sure!

thanks so much for the video. I replaced the headlight assembly on my 95 f150. I just wanted to add that the bolts are 11mm on the 95. Don't know why they change from 94 7/16 to metric 11mm then 10 mm on the 96. video was very helpful. thankyou.
Thank you for watching. Please let us know how the repair comes out!

Thanks a lot !
You helped me also with this video !
Thumbs up for you !
Also 11mm on my 97 F250
The headlights on the 9th generation Ford Trucks are plastic. An otherwise tough truck, the whole headlight assembly needs to be replaced about every 5 to10 years. Ford engineers could not make it any more difficult. Great video. Thanks a Million.

Great video. Very informing. Your clips, however were much easier to remove than mine that had been the vehicle, untouched, since 1994. Wouldn't have been able to do the job without the video. Thanks
Great video, just bought a 96 f250 7.3. Low beam only reaches 20 feet. Was considering buy new headlights, now I know they're adjustable. Thanks again

Great video. Replaced mine in no time thanks to the info in this video. As for the truck in this. My God will someone please clean the battery terminal!!
+Scott Lindauer Thanks for checking us out! 1AAuto.com
The nuts on my 97 were 11mm if anyone is wondering. Got it done way easier thanks to this! My clips weren’t even rusted 😬
+Gabe Wall Thank you!
Thanks. Video helped a lot on my 94 F150. Only problem were the clips.
Thank you guys so much, great tutorial
Great video. Very helpful. Just a note, on my 95 F350, the nut was 11mm instead of 10mm.
+Joseph Mahaffey Thanks for the feedback!
Those clips were a pain in the rear!

a Royal pain in the (__!__) only a technician could make something so difficult
I just did mine and they sure were, the headlight wire was in the way for the outer ones and it's diffucult to get the socet on at a straight angle. Also mine actually loosened at the turn signal assembly. So now I have 3 metal threads that I'll probably have to grind out.
I tried to get those clips out.....used picks and needle nose...failed...so I removed the grill and plastic frame member to get at the lights' clips. Mine would not pull out...and impossible on the bottom clip to get access to spread the clips ears apart. So the grill and frame member removal only takes 20 to 25 minutes....a dozen or so bolts and you have easy access to the clips...my truck is a F250 centurion 1 ton dually 4x4. Thanks for the video..helped a lot ordered lights from you.
first take front grill off then take out headlights take out whole grill assembly flip inside grill down put in headlights snap clips then reassemble takes a little extra time
+Richard Crum Thank you for the recommendation to make access easier!
Thanks so much! And, by the way, that's a clean early '90's model truck!
Good job
Much learned. Keep up the good work. Thanks.

Was actually easier to remove battery and reservoir to reach the 11mm bolts and taking the grill and sub assembly completely off made reaching the bottom headlight retaining clips much faster. Seems like more work but the ease of reach made it well worth it.
perfect video for this job.
this video helped alot
On the driver side. I moved the coolant/washer fluid and i could only find one nut with the deep socket...cant find the 2nd.
Here's what worked best for me: Completely back out and remove the adjustment screw, leaving just the plastic nut and clip. Place a sharp flat blade screw driver right next to the clip and hit the screwdriver with a hammer to break off the end of the plastic nut. The plastic nut broke clean and easy on the first whack. The clip stayed attached to the broken end and was easy to remove with my fingers. The method I've described here is much easier than prying and incurs no damage or flying clips.
+Reevis Mountain Thanks for the feedback!

Thanks for the video! The guy who owned my Bronco before me (poorly) installed some clear aftermarket headlight assemblies. As a result of his poor install, the lenses were all out of alignment and the main headlights were loose (bounced around when driving). I corrected all the alignment (about six shims fell out from his attempts to keep the headlights stable!) but the wobbling headlight problems still persists.
Is this due to improper retaining clip installation? Your video seems to point to them being what keeps the headlight tight against the radiator support. Thanks again!
+Tony Farson Those clips should hold the headlights firmly in place. There should also be an adjusting screw on the backside of the main beam. Hope this helps you out. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com
i wound up having to take the whole grille assembly off in order to get the clips off in good shape using the tool specifically for them. it really is a pain in the ass, regular nuts would have worked just fine..
Do the headlights come with new clips for re-installing them?
+1quickgt Thanks for watching! Our headlights do not come with new clips, you will have to use the originals or purchase new ones. Here is a link to the parts: www.1aauto.com/1A/HeadLights/Ford/F150-Truck/1ALHP00024?RUclips&CTA+Comment&ExEJb9I
10mm 11mm?
How about that orange light. I need to know asap. Thanks

I have a question if you're still here.. I am trying to order a part for my husband online because he works non stop. He hit a deer and we need to replace the grill, lights and the part that goes between the grill and the radiator. On one site they call it a "replacement header" It's the frame for the radiator and headlights? Not sure how to describe it and that's my problem, I don't know what this part is called so I cannot find it on other sites besides the one that he ordered it on and that one doesn't fit, we have to send back. Also, it's plastic he says, and he wants metal. I have scoured diagrams and I cannot find that part. Can you help?? lol
+goldie nelson Thank you for checking us out. This should be called a header panel or headlight mounting panel. We carry the part using www.1aauto.com/ford-headlight-mounting-panel/i/1abhp00063?f=804947&y=1992. 1aauto.com
Does this lights fits the 1991 model?
+ambition guy These lights do not fit the 1991. 1987-1991 have the same headlights, and then in 1992 they were redesigned. Thanks for checking us out!
1A Auto Parts yes I knew that there is difference in the design but I was trying to change the front of the truck to the newer one but I am okay with that. Thx for the clearing.
What do I do when I break the clip
That can't be as old a vehicle as you claim. The headlamps on my 96 van do not have a little plug-in lamp, they are an entire glass bulb with three brass contacts sticking out the back.
11mm socket
SHOW us how to change the bulb!!!!!!!
I was gonna change all the bulbs to LED, but nevermind!
whats the part between the headlight/grill and the bumper? i need one for my truck
+johnny roten It sounds like you are referring to the header panel. Here is a link to them on our website. Hope this helps you out www.1aauto.com/1995-ford-f150-truck-header-panel/y-mo-c/1995-1521-53
+1A Auto Parts i just bought a new header panel. the part im referring to is an external peice. if you look at the front of the truck between the grill and bumper there is a thin white strip of what i assume is metal or maybe even plastic that goes with the rest of the truck.
+johnny roten We currently do not carry this particular part. Thank you for asking. 1aauto.com
+1A Auto Parts do you know what its called at least?
+johnny roten It may be referred to as a bumper to grill facia or trim panel
Mine yellow in Canada
The nuts that hold mine (1993 F150) are 11mm, not 10.
I had to remove all the front to remove those stupid clips. I guess the engineer who design that was a Volvo or Jaguar engineer. Also to remove the left headlight, you need to remove the windshield washer liquid/coolant reservoir.
Just needed to see the adjustment, and it was left out....
no puede en español x fabor
Mine has 11mm nuts.
Can't even see anything
This is a complete fail. TYC sells the assy replacement. It includes the turn signal and moulding. Goes in and out as one piece. has bulbs installed. About 150 bucks.
+rbigbore50 Thanks for the feedback! We also offer the complete assembly with turn signal and marker light. This specific video is just showing how to replace the headlight and bulb only. Thanks for checking us out.
Coming from a late 80s/early 90s dodge this is wayyyy to complicated that’s all I have to say lol
+@Ol-crusty-Cummins Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c

Typical Ford. PITA to work on. Take the whole front off to change the headlights
