The DC Multiverse STRIKES BACK! | Infinite Frontier

- When our heroes saved the Multiverse from Perpetua in DARK NIGHTS: DEATH METAL, everything was put back where it belonged...and we do mean everything. All the damage from all the Crises were undone, and heroes long thought gone returned from whatever exile they had been in. Most of them, at least. Alan Scott, the Green Lantern from the Justice Society of America, has noticed some of his allies are still missing in action, and he’s determined to find them. There are others, though, who would rather remain hidden than explain themselves, like Roy Harper, a.k.a. Arsenal, a man who should be dead but is not. Plus, what does all this mean for the DCU’s place in the Multiverse? On opposite sides of a dimensional divide, both Barry Allen and President Superman ponder this question. Not to mention the Darkseid of it all! Or a team of Multiversal heroes called Justice Incarnate! Never miss an episode by subscribing today! bit.ly/2WYvgkt #comicpop

Will you ever do Dark Crisis or Justice League Incarnate?
@@vrajdesai3865 Yes
Yeah@@vrajdesai3865
I loved how Ethan instantly clocked Tiffany's reaction to the return of Pariah.
I sympathize lol
And he's even wearing a Wonder Woman shirt. That part of the War of the Gods episode clearly imprinted on him.
What's the time stamp on that?... I'm asking for an A.I. 👀
Remember kids, "the bleed" is a meta-reference to the layout of a comic page. Literally the unseen space that exists between comic pages.
That's a Doom Patrol reference.
Flash: “Who are you?”
Pariah: “I am Pariah, of course!”
Flash: “Okay. What’re you doing here?”
Pariah: “I’ve made many enemies. One such for was a powerful red-headed woman with glasses. She sent me here. She told me it was to ‘Think about what I’ve done’, but I think she just sent me here to be as far away from her as possible. I don’t think she likes me very much.”
Flash: “We just met, but I kind of get it.”
Oh you just wait until the Secret Crisis in 2030 when he teams up with Red Ghost. That'll get him some respect.
@@psychoknight3d106 And leave it in the hands of whom?
@@TheGreatDevlinthat’s who he should be combined with in the Amalgam universe
These back issues are genuinely the only reason I have any clue what the state of the Dc multiverse is rn 😭
Me too and most comics
Yeah Sal is my go to resource for what goes on in the DCU proper, as I dip in and out of DC constantly. 😂
I read up to Death Metal and then with Infinite Frontier to Dark Crisis I got completely lost in this huge multiversal stuff
@@flerken4233The whole Perpetua crap and then the dumb Scott Snyder world building ridiculousness just made me nope out of modern DC. Too convoluted, too much like Jason Aaron was given the keys to the candy store. Now I only hear about stuff when ComicPop covers it
Whenever anyone mentions Pariah, all I can think about is Tif bemoaning him and saying “I’VE SUFFERED!!!” 😂
11:23 funny thing. In the Wonder Woman comics after infinite frontier, after she leaves Valhalla and start exploring around with Siegfried, she accidentally lands on Earth 11 and the Martian manhunter of that Earth points out that they call their Earth "Earth-1" while they call the Prime Earth "Earth 11."
Oh, that’s funny.
Every Earth is Earth-Prime if you’re living on it, I suppose.
Also, unrelated note: I recall that Earth-11 is a gender-flipped universe, so would their version of Martian Manhunter be called “Martian Woman-finder” or something along those lines? I apologize in advance if this question sounds stupid, by the way - it’s very late, and I should be asleep as I’m posting this comment, and yet here we are.
@@halfmettlealchemist8076I don't see why manhunter has to change, it's not in reference to his gender, but the gender of the hunted, it's not manhunter as in a hunter that is a man, it's manhunter as in a hunter who hunts men, so a female J'onn, J'aynn if you will, would still be a manhunter
I started reading this and was, at first, pleased by how ordinary people remembered the most recent crisis. Then I realized how messed up most people would be by that knowledge and began to see the wisdom of the magic memory wipe of previous crises.
23:45 I love how Ethan’s knowledge of comics makes him correct himself after realizing he went over 52 lol
20 years from now this book will be a really distinct time capsule. The perfect storm of several different failed initiatives and major power shifts at the company create a lot of jump off points for learning more about the 2020s at DC.
So Wonder woman became the secretary of the quintessence like she was originally for the Justice League lol
Darkseid's chasing crack? Oh thaaaats why Speedy's an omega lantern
Reminds me of Superfriends Darkseid
34:30 "But Calvin Ellis doesn't like launch drone strikes on people"
I genuinely feel like I would not understand anything happening in this book, so I really appreciate you guys keeping it all together lol.
I don’t know why, but I am in belief that this is the greatest Back Issues of all time. All the boys are on top of their games, super funny and engaging. Thank you lads for the fun times❤
I have a feeling that the episode where they’ll do DCOIE will be their best so far
This coming out right after Rogues is perfect. Same writer, same one name artist conversation😂😂😂
"Darkseid just kills them"
Much like Obi-Wan Kenobi!
Dark Crisis on the comicpop couch is coming.....
Justice League: Oh boy it's a great thing we got Wonder Woman back. Now the Justice League is truly invincible.
Joshua Williamson: Heh
Joshua Williamson: 😏😁
Joshua Williamson: "I'm gonna do what's known as a pro gamer move"
Alan Scott on the couch you say… time to grab my popcorn, cozy up on the couch, and enjoy some Comic Pop talking about the most underrated Green Lantern goodness
Man this Frontier sure if Infinite. Just like the Infinite joy that would be produced by a new episode of Harbor Patrol!
the starwars council reference was on point
You know it’s great to come home after a long day of work & just watch the weekly back issues episodes. 🍿
Another time Pariah was used was during the build up to Infinite Crisis where he was kidnapped by the Secret Society of Supervillains under the direction of Earth 3 Alex Luthor who ended up killing him. He then appeared as one of the black lanterns in Blackest Knight but after that he didn’t play much of a role in DC save for the New 52 cameo once
Here’s how I interpreted Machine Head’s hate for Barry Allen: Machine Head’s Marvel-esque universe became darker and more akin to something like the Ultimate Universe, and that’s why it, like the Ultimate Universe died
Can't wait for the next Marvel event have the main villain be the Red Ghost.
At 27:47, you say he makes constructs of the arrow family but Williams and Xernanico are doing something much cooler here, He makes constructs of Him, 4 times he's died before. Great video for an amazing comic loved the whole Dark Crisis Trillogy
Being a DC fan in 2020 was freaking weird.
Somehow ComicPop Returned...
The Star Wars quotes were strong this episode :')
Ah, the multiverse. As complicated and messy as always.
I hope you guys can do Alan Moore’s Swamp Thing someday (maybe Halloween season?). Seems like the perfect Tiffany book.
Seconded. I hope they also do Scott Snyder and Charles Soule's run on Swamp Thing after covering Moore's.
Since Moore had a fairly long run on that book, it might just be a retrospective. But, I agree. Big fan of it.
I love how sal mentions the crossover initiative.... because I'm looking at all the crossover books behind them and wondering why those! Genius.
Tbh, Infinite Frontier seemed to have better concepts than some of the other DC modern DC events, the execution cud’ve been WAY better of course
Roger Hayden, the Psycho Pirate, evaporates into the 12-issue weekly story "Shadows of the Bat" which was a big story in Detective Comics about not Batman. I did not like that book, but I really dug the back ups by Matthew Rosenberg.
"pirate spawn" 😂😂
Are… are they prepping to do Dark Crisis? Oh dear lord…
Ahh man, where's the "I'm Sal, I'm Ethan and I'm Ben"
Elseworlds SHOULD be a wholly different multiverse, that is separate from the "main" multiverse. Any world that doesn't have a number that is between 0/prime/New Earth and 52, gets added to the Elseworlds multiverse.
It should be a trinity of multiverses; Main multiverse, Elseworlds, and the Dark multiverse being the by far the largest. All three of them would have their own "sphere" to house all of their Earths (Dark multiverse having a near infinite multiverses for each Earth it has). Multiverse-2 shouldn't be a thing. It sounds like a second try at the Dark multiverse, and I don't think it's necessary.
Machinehead is interesting because we see someone call out Barry (Manhattan should as well but isn't) for his actions. Because Earth- 2 was VERY much changed because of Flashpoint. It's sad that most people seem to hate/not like N52 Earth-2 for whatever reasons. There should be 2-3 different versions of the Earth-2 characters running around in the multiverse, and we only just back Val and Red Lois for a little bit. Crisis/War of Earth-2's lol?
Ironically I just finished rewatching your video on Death Metal.
Not gonna lie, Earth-Flash sounds like Westview from Wandavision, but on enough steroids to kickstart an entirely new multiverse.
39:06 That reminds me, everyone band together and beg to get Tom King's Omega Men done on the couch.
I miss the intro melody 😢 🎶
I just read this and incarnate, so seeing this video pop up on my feed gave me that warm fuzzy feeling. Love y'all ❤️
Its cool hearing Sal say me name, Calvin. Thats a rarity fo' a comic. :)
I dropped this book after 4 issues because I just couldn't figure out wtf was going on. Excited to finally figure it out!
I think I figured out who made the Multiverse Map, Grant Morrison, not Grant Morrison the real world comic writer, no, Grant Morrison, The DC Character who joined the Suicide Squad!
You'd think Roy Harper would be better at finding "the crack". Boy's got experience at sniffing it out.
I didn't hear anything the guys said for the first 3 minutes of this episode because I felt so unsettled about missing the introductions at the start of the show. We've already lost the piano intro/outro.... you leave those damn intros in there Sal.
Director bones has flesh, it's just invisble
K
Infinite Frontier is the equivalent of Marvel's "What If" tv show. 1:18:12
wait alan scott green lantern protected gotham before batman huh I love learning fun things like this its alot of fun
Cpuld you imagine if there was a big "Earth 7" in the sky and we all just went along without questioning it?
Making Joshua proud lolz!!
So Pariah's plan it basically black mercy everyone?
Yes
Kurt Busiek was smart for creating a war to stand in all the jungle wars of through the '50s and '70s in _The Marvels._ DC should do one for WW2 to explain why the Justice Society members aren't over a 100.
Wait, I thought Magog was a good-ish guy, then again I literally haven't saw him since Kingdom Come
Millennium (1989) is the movie he was thinking of.
I was an hour into this video thinking why they haven’t mentioned stuff like Doctor Multiverse until I realised that was a completely different book
I’d love to see Christopher Walken play Mr. Bones in the DC movies
I want him to sound like Roy Brisby. But higher pitch. Because skulls look like they're screaming.
Great ep! After a certain point I lose track of whether the Multiverse exists, so this is a welcome catchup. BTW, Justice Incarnate form at the end of Morrison's Multiversity in 2015 (Highly recommended though it's somewhere between a singular story and an anthology) , so they're not a new team here.
Just finished Gotham Central by Rucka and Brubaker itwas really good would be cool to see you guys do an episode of it
Injustice animated movie, they refer to themselves as Earth-1 until main universe Superman comes over to fight Injustice Superman and tells them they are 22
Idk what to do. Sal didn’t tell me to keep reading
Does this mean we can expect dark crisis next on back issues ??
Did you stop doing introductions for algorithm purposes? Because I miss them 😢
Whaaaaa this is cool i actually recently finished this cause yall said after death metal infinite frontier connects to dark crisis.
Goddang i just love this show to death. Yall are just the bloody best!
3:05 the Xermanico conversation kills me
I watch Off The Rack, they reviewed this book. I bought the book. Read it. And here it is. I. Love this channel.
So this book was kind of like the Loki show

#RespectforRoyHarper
Darkseid trying to get Crack 😂😂😂
I would buy the hell out of a black lantern core lead by roy harper.
Dc needs more down to earth stories. Batman vs mobsters, is more interesting than vs cosmic stuff
A good balance between the two.
@@daelen.cclark How about just this a blond woman has been kidnapped by mad matter, Superman goes batman will find him and save the girl, I will stop cosmic world eater. The Rouges can go with the justice league and world governments distract now its the perfect time to rob the bank. Batman and green arrow do not need to get involved all other problmes on earth don't go away because of the world eater attacking kids are still missing floods still exist
This is why there’s a whole family of books about that. So we can have it all
Thanks for the video, ComicPop!
Did this include the Justice Incarnate mini too? It and IF we’re basically one book
I haven’t thought of Freejack in years. It’s free on RUclips! Lol I’m going to attempt to watch the whole thing right after this.
Wooo! I missed out reading this because it seemed too confusing, so glad ur covering it!!
Each universe vibrates at a different frequency so I’m assuming Barry Allen or any speedster technically would be the only ones able to tell the difference between earths. 20:10
It’s a little late for the JoshuAugust but early for WilliamSeptember
Going thru a lot rn and needed this back issues
I enjoyed the comic - it was a good read … not much happened really but it was a fun ride while it lasted
2 Joshua Williamson books in a row? That’s awesome
Ah cool! Here we are!
Black light constructs cool, wow there are a lot of glowing puddles everywhere
GREEN FLAAAAAME...lol we come for sal (pause) but we stay for Ethan and ben. Loveyall brothas
Two Joshua Williamson books in a row Hell Yeah!
Eh if Sal and his sidekicks like find it good enough then I'll check it out.
“Sidekicks”?
That's what happens when the intro is taken out. Lol.
I really enjoyed this miniseries, but i was really hoping Roy Harper would find happiness at some point 😢
1:02:18 I’m so disappointed I lost. Now time to go show a bunch of old friends this clip and ruin their days 😂😂😂
I'm two hours early for a doctor's appointment. Your timing couldn't get more perfect.
Green flame!??!?!
Ok but even if calvin ellis doen't do drone strikes he interferes directly in foreign policy with the justice league, in N52 action comics is implied that not all the League members are confortable with that.
This book set up a lot which I was looking forward to, but only Williamson seemed to care about
I love that Fated Four shirt.
This version of darksied is gonna be retconned to be just all of the avatars of darkseid coming together into one being who thought he was OG. Then grant Morrison final crisis darksied is gonna step in and be like "I don't normally lower myself to such actions, but you've grown too BWAAAA-"and just omega beam the imposter back into himself of some shit
Still waiting for DCeased Dead Planet.
Yeah... I just read Garfield comics
Small reccomendation for Future State: Batman, please? Maybe consider it?
Can someone explain to me how the public doesn’t know about the multiverse when evil versions of the justice league came and took over in forever evil?
Lex probably said it was evil clones or something.
Um wasn't Psycho Pirate killed by Black Adam in Infinite Crisis. I distinctly remember him pushing his fingers through his skull
Wasn't the entire multiverse and everyone in it killed at the end of Death Metal?
@comicpop not going to even lie I checked out on Death Metal as i had heavy Batman who Laughs fatigue. Gotta go rewarch ya'll video.
My theory on how the multiverse works is that the earth that superboy prime was shown in after his fight with the darkest night is that main universe but I also believe that both the marvel and dc heroes all exist on that earth and then after some years a child was born that was so powerful that when it cried it erased all of existence leaving 3 survivors super boy prime, the child, and Franklin richards prime. And Franklin and Clark are able to survive because they are essentially god powered beings and they decide to divide the powers of the child into 2 entities the phoenix force and anti life equation. And due to this Franklin took half of the pantheon of the heroes and villains and made the marvel multiverse and Clark made the dc universe. And the separated the force and the equation in their multiverses so the child could never become whole again and destroy existence again and the reason they don’t just recreate their universe is because it would eventually end up with the child being born again.
