Also I don't understand why they don't use the motherboxes to trace the apokopolis/new genesis tecnology, since in canon they have used the motherboxes to do just that. lol
i love that the last video ended with Ben making a "the screw" joke and then this episode starts with him, seemingly with no memory of the former, making the exact same joke again
They said there is no Cortana and Master chief, but what about Barda and Mister Miracle? The greatest Warrior of a planet with a super intelligent copilot living in her armor and who can be used to disarm a universe destroying superweapon. Haha
As a self-proclaimed Crime Syndicate aficionado, I find myself wondering why, given the apparent evidence that the Another Nail version of the Justice League had encountered the Syndicators before, why did no one have even a brief epiphany of looking at their new member, Superman, then at Ultraman, then back at Superman and going "Finally! I was always wondered who Ultraman's counterpart on our team was!" or something to that effect. That said, Alan Davis's art is just so, so good. Even though this particular story was so bat-shit off the rails, the art is just so superb. One of my favorite comic book artists.
Would the "Third Nail" be the "Final Nail" as in the final nail in the coffin for the Nailiverse? I would guess that Thomas Wayne is about to head out with his family for movie night, he steps on a rusty nail, which requires him to get himself a tetanus shot instead, forcing them to miss movie night and therefore, no robbery of the Waynes in the back alley, no murders, no Batman.
Marvel's The Nail, where The Burglar steps on a rusty nail while breaking into the Parkers' home, yells in pain, and is loud enough for Uncle Ben to hear it and call the cops, who arrest the burglar immediately. That would be fun because then Peter would stick to wrestling and become a pro-wrestling star and celebrity with all the power and none of the responsibility. Jonah would idolize the celebrity Spider-Man and use The Daily Bugle as a way to sing his praises. Aunt May would see Peter as a disappointment and look down on him for chasing fame. Spider-Man's rogues are still villains, but they would fight The Avengers instead and they'd develop more powerful technology to be able to fight against people like Thor and Hulk, so they'd be more dangerous. Maybe Norman Osborn would obsess over a different street-level hero and make it his mission to ruin Daredevil's life, which would see him killing Elektra and destroying Matt's law office. Maybe the story would end with Peter having to become a hero after Morlun shows up to hunt him.
Lois: "See, Superman? Humanity can handle itself! You don't need to be there for us all the time." Meanwhile, the Universe when he's gone a week: *_"Madness!"_*
Joker: Aw neat. I found this nuke in an army base. I'm sure using it in Metropolis won't cause a divergent universe that forms comics, movies, video games and negatively influence people's view on Superman.
Every once in a while I watch Back Issues and just stop to think "man, this looks incredible for a show on youtube". Comic Pop really has its production on lockdown. Hilarious episode guys! The manic energy from this story leaked onto the couch a bit I think.
There is already a Third Nail, sorta. it’s actually the second Nail, as it was made right after the original. Davis and Farmer made another series called Supeerboy’s Legion and is a take on what if Suoerboy’s rocket didn’t make it to Earth but was stuck in some asteroids and discovered hundreds of years later, so this Superboy grows up in the time of the Legion of Superheroes. And it’s just as damned good as the Nail and another Nail.
I really like Alan Davis's vision of a universe without Superman because it's a chaotic, more dangerous place without being a completely miserable nightmare.
If I were Mayor of Gotham and the joker died I would do every type of parade, and would be made a special holiday for the day he died and I would recommend for everyone to also celebrate the day he died, and the piñatas would be beaten with plastic crowbars.
The just goes to show you if you remove Superman, even for a brief time, from the structure of the DC multiverse, everything from time and space goes wonky. Either that or Alan Davis just wanted to get nuts. :)
Man these else worlds are neat. Sometimes they're goofy like the story of "what if catwoman was batman " other times they're amazing like "what if superman was Darkseids lt"? Can't wait to see what this is
Late but I don't care. The fact that a multiversal crisis can and does happen without Earth 0/Prime knowing about is pretty cool. Like, I think it would be cool if all of the Elseworlds teamed up and fought Multiversal threats. There pretty much isolated from all other stories, so writers could use them for some kind of advent that needs them. Like, if those worlds were on the DC multiverse map, I could see them being all grouped up in the corner, and if anything goes to attack them or something comes from within that sector (Like the Green Lanterns or NATO), they all go at that "thing" together. OH! Crisis on Elseworlds! The new earth would have coolest look to it. There are so many books with different ideas that the new earth that would be created at the end would have a look of something that got hit with the ugly stick. Future looking cities, modern looking towns, villages from Europe from the 19th century, post war ruins, animal-men societies, Nazi's in control of areas. Hell, this isn't taking into account the few characters that are going to have other versions of themselves living on new Elseworld. Superman: Last Son of Earth has a HUMAN Clark Kent that gets sent to Krypton, so he is own person, while there are other Kryptonian Kal-el's/-L running around that could be picked to live on Elseworld. Love the episode, hope to see more Elseworlds fro you guys. Keep the fun going guys.
I loved the story of the first nail. It really felt like a wild comic adventure from the silver and Bronze Age. Another nail is so buck wild I can’t help but like it too.
OMFG!! I was rewatching your episode of The Nail earlier today lol. Even wondered if y'all were gonna do this sequel anytime soon. Life is definitely full of surprises. Sometimes amazing ones!
These Elseworlds episodes are always fun! Would love to see Batman: Thrillkiller or Superman's Metropolis on the show sometime. I think a Multiversity episode would also be great.
I actually read this book first, before The Nail. This was forever ago but I remember enjoying Another Nail on its own merits. It was a confusing mess but I found it to be a fun ride. Then I found the Nail itself and realized oh this one is way better, but still I found Another Nail to be fun and interesting. Also the Angel and the Ape gag was very good.
I love this book so much. I first read it out of my dad's personal collection as a kid and it gives me the pure uncut "insane comic book bullshit" serotonin.
As listening to this video, I remembered that I have read this comic book. And for some reason, years later I thought was a sequel to kingdom come. (Honestly I only remembered from it was Joker being dead, him bringing batman to hell, and Oliver taking over Amazo's body, and sacrificing himself to save the day)
The Batman storyline was the coolest part of this book. The whole joker coming back from the dead to mess with him thing is brilliant. And it actually carries on from what happened in the previous story. Everything else is just a bunch of random shit lol
No doubt there are GLs needing to be fired lol Hopefully soon y'all will do the Just Imagine series where Stan Lee has his take on the DC heroes! I think it'd be fun to see Ethan and Ben's reaction and hear Sal's thoughts on those "green lanterns"
I would love a book called "The Final Nail" and it be something about Blackest Night but in that universe. Let "The Final Nail" be a reference to the final nail on the coffin or whatever.
40:28 wait, isnt Mister Miracle basically a Cortana in this? He lives in Barda's suit and can make it vibrate like how people joke that Cortana jerks off Master Chief in the suit.
the highlight of my wednesdays is to watch you guys making fun of this book that has almost 20 years, and my pitch title for the sequence would be "the nailless" because Alan davis run out of nails. and also can't forget to praise you all for the korok Legend of zelda joke that was amazing.

Also I don't understand why they don't use the motherboxes to trace the apokopolis/new genesis tecnology, since in canon they have used the motherboxes to do just that. lol
Is this the fastest we've ever gotten a sequel on back issues?? It's time for another tale in the nailiverse.
That's probably Donuary
i love that the last video ended with Ben making a "the screw" joke and then this episode starts with him, seemingly with no memory of the former, making the exact same joke again
"Is this like Halo?"
Its always funny when Ben or Ethan guesses the plot of the book in the beginning of Sal explaining the book.
They said there is no Cortana and Master chief, but what about Barda and Mister Miracle? The greatest Warrior of a planet with a super intelligent copilot living in her armor and who can be used to disarm a universe destroying superweapon. Haha
Sal's pause after that question was spectacular
As a self-proclaimed Crime Syndicate aficionado, I find myself wondering why, given the apparent evidence that the Another Nail version of the Justice League had encountered the Syndicators before, why did no one have even a brief epiphany of looking at their new member, Superman, then at Ultraman, then back at Superman and going "Finally! That said, Alan Davis's art is just so, so good. Even though this particular story was so bat-shit off the rails, the art is just so superb. One of my favorite comic book artists.
For that matter, why didn't they ever ask themselves "hey, why do these guys don't have counterparts for J'onn, Carter and the rest of us?"
The Nail who Hammers
After some thought, and input: The Final Nail: The Hammering? Too bad Justin Hammer is Marvel? lol
@@cheej5529 I love that pitch because of how grounded and focused it is. And then I love that end part with "And then Morlun shows up..."

Lois: "See, Superman? Humanity can handle itself! You don't need to be there for us all the time."
Meanwhile, the Universe when he's gone a week: *_"Madness!"_*
Jimmy Olsen when he's on the can and out of toilet paper: "This looks like a job for my best pal Superman!"
Joker: Aw neat. I found this nuke in an army base. I'm sure using it in Metropolis won't cause a divergent universe that forms comics, movies, video games and negatively influence people's view on Superman.

The just goes to show you if you remove Superman, even for a brief time, from the structure of the DC multiverse, everything from time and space goes wonky. Either that or Alan Davis just wanted to get nuts. :)
WB: Wait, I thought Superman was just a Batman side character?
*cough* THE FINAL NAIL!..? in the coffin? ..... ......a...a third nail a.k.a the final crisi- ...NAIL!!
Nailed it
Then there will be Identity Nail, Zero Hour: a Nail in Time, and the Dark Knights Metal Nail lol
Man these else worlds are neat. Sometimes they're goofy like the story of "what if catwoman was batman " other times they're amazing like "what if superman was Darkseids lt"? Can't wait to see what this is
The most anticipated sequel to one of the best Back Issues episodes in recent memory. This is gonna be good.
You guys NAILED this episode
You stole my pun.
Stole it, then nailed it.
Well looks like Nail is the Pun of the Week😮
@@daelen.cclark Sorry. I guess that pun was the last nail in my coffin
Love it when y’all talk about New Gods, Jonah Hex and the DCU as a whole! Such a great episode guys!!!
You've finally given me the phrase I need to start my cult, Comic Pop! " Your body is the final cage" MWA HA HA HA HA HA HA HAAAAA
An alternate title for this book, Superman: Rumspringa.

Ben's really firing on all cylinders in this episode
“Son of a bitch. They’re doing Another Nail… also over 90-minute video? Darkseid bless us”
I honestly love both of The Nail stories. I bought both series as they were coming out. Another Nail is bonkers in the best way possible.
The nail series is great and underrespected.
I want the duology as an animated movie series.
there's nothing more Kirby than a big complicated looking machine, used by a god
We live for the one, we die for the one.
1:25:50 I got a retcon for you, "The One" is actually an alternate form of the Black Winter
It feels like Mr.Miracle is the Green Lantern, and Barta is using the energy by through him
ethan realizing the similarities to halo and this story 20 minutes in, was so funny lol
I loved the story of the first nail. It really felt like a wild comic adventure from the silver and Bronze Age. Another nail is so buck wild I can’t help but like it too.
This is officially the greatest year of Comic Pop man
"Justice league: THE FINAL NAIL" by Grant Morrison
It’s funny every time I see this book mentioned online it is Always about Green Lantern Big Barda and nothing else lol
My brain hurts after listening to this one, Sal is a Saint for helping us understand this mess. 😂
OMFG!! I was rewatching your episode of The Nail earlier today lol. Even wondered if y'all were gonna do this sequel anytime soon. Life is definitely full of surprises. Sometimes amazing ones!
Mr. Miracle is truly the greatest escape artist
YEEES, I loved the video when you guys talked about the original! I’m so happy you guys came back to the sequel!!!
Tempus Fuginaut was killed twice over
1. Future State Black Adam
2. The one you said
Phantom stranger: well my work is done here
Wonder woman: what do you mean your work is done? You didn’t do anything
Phantom stranger: hehe didn’t I?
I had a feeling this would happen but not so soon, I agree that there should be a third book
Two hyped superhero sequels (Another Nail & Across the Spider-Verse) in one week, great timing.
If they ever release a third book in this series, they should call it Yet Another Nail.
Great title would be "The Final Nail" for a third.
Hey Sal let me know which issues of Eclipso you need & I'll send them to you if you want.
What if the real another nail was the friends we made along the way?
That’s the true third nail.
The other other nail, if you will.
These Elseworlds episodes are always fun! Would love to see Batman: Thrillkiller or Superman's Metropolis on the show sometime. I think a Multiversity episode would also be great.
Here's hoping DC makes a third book. Justice League: A bag of nails
Or Justice League: A Fist Full of Nails and it's a spaghetti western

Always a good day when I can watch Back Issues.
This is the five year old version of storytelling: "and then Phantom stranger and then the crime sydicate and then, and then, and then..."
I love this book so much. I first read it out of my dad's personal collection as a kid and it gives me the pure uncut "insane comic book bullshit" serotonin.
The Nail 2: Nailed Again 🔨
This has got to be the shortest time between continuations of a title on the couch.
1:27:21 😂😂😂 LMFAO. From now on everytime I see a tub of ice cream, this is going to play in my head.
I'm surprised they got to this one so soon after the first, but I did not expect it to be so *insane* by comparison.
Jla nailed it
Oh seeing that video length has me already more than excited
I'm surprised to see a sequel on the couch and so soon even!
Part 3 is just a comic version of the Penn and Teller nail gun trick
"Private Crisis" does sound kinda cool, but it also does sound like a thing you might need to get checked out.
I vote for the next one being called "Yet another nail"
Seems like this put the NAIL in the Crisis Coffin!
Now to actually watch the episode.
Can't wait for the Eclipso episode
I will never understand why the doom that came to Gotham was made before an animated nail duology.
They just didn’t think of it, I guess.
Can't go wrong with Alan Davis art....
Love Another Nail. But the tag line made me think about the true forgotten Crisis .....Infinite Crisis: Fight for the Multiverse
As listening to this video, I remembered that I have read this comic book. And for some reason, years later I thought was a sequel to kingdom come. The omega doom has to be made of materials from different planets to destroy them, it's like voodoo magic
"Another Nail... in the coffin of this universe I created."

Justice League: Nails in the Coffin should be the third book :')
I feel like ive heard that orb situation happen before on back issues and i love it

The amount of times Sal said "Slig" is way too goddamn many.
So the One is like a Langolier?
Was in the middle of the first video when this was posted
I was sure I was the only person who ever read this comic.
PS quickest back issues sequel ever 😮
Evil Ernie !! Destroyer , Youth Gone Wild, VS SUPERHEROES, VS MOVIE MONSTERS..... come on , cover them.
The third nail: the crucifixion
