the psu has 4 pin. Vsb (4.8v), gnd, acdc_stby, acin_det. To my understanding on a good psu when ac is plugged in to the psu, Vsb should be around 4.8v and the acin_det would be 3.5v to 4.5v even without plugging to ps4. You can short either Vsb or acin_det to acdc_stby to turn the 12v on. Both these are essential steps to identify a good psu. If this is good then the next step would be to check the power button module. And if that is also ok, then most likely the southbridge area is the cause of the problem.

I did exactly what you staed, if your meter reads 12 volts while shorting TRIGGER and the 4volts. AND i got 0.00 that prob concludes my power supply is not working right. But it does show 12 volt when i put the leads in the the PSU and turn the PS4 button on. This is anothe rmodel but the same concept applies.

Everything was stock and I played it for many months. Before a full year I heard a loud pop and everything turned off. I didn’t know what to do but I didn’t want to throw it away cause one of my games was in there. A few years passed, I got the disc out and decided to try and fix it. I figured it was the battery supply so I switched it out and it started working again. A week or two later the exact same pop noise happened. I’m starting to think it’s my motherboard that’s blowing up the battery supplies but I’m no expert
You have roaches in your system they touch 2 points and that’s the popping noise clean your area around your ps4 make sure everything is clean take your console apart if you know what your doing and clean it out and make sure their isn’t roaches living In your system if your uncomfortable doing that then get some raid and spray it in a bag not to where it’s soaked but just in the bag good enought put your ps4 in it and make a tight knot so the fumes can circulate and kills any roaches inside leave it for Atleast 2 days!!!

If you're ps4 is turning on but randomly turning off by itself like mine is, that could an indication of a worn/damage/short in power cord or worn out extension cord. Since ps4 uses alot of voltage watts. Sometimes it could a faulty or old hard drive. If you're not getting any power consumption it could consist of a damage power cord, faulty hard drive or built debris in your fan. Try these methods. See where the problem is occurring from your ps4. Sometimes, it's a simple fix. Hope this was informative.

hye. I've tested the connecter on the board using my multimeter and I've found out that I only got the 5V on the fourth pin only. I got no reading on the first pin. What does that mean? I was hoping that my ps4 power supply have the same problem like your PSU. That way i could determine, the motherboard is not faulty. And i think, our PSU could not give 12V to the ps4.

Thanks. Can a power supply provide a good value for the first minutes or so and then suddenly start being faulty for some reason? I'm asking that coz my PS4 (12xx model) is starting normally and then always after 5 minutes the screen scrambles then it stops working. From that point on I have to unplug and restart again but won't work till it's cools off. It's a very clean PS4 as I did the whole cleaning and Thermal past application by myself two days ago. i've got a similar issue to this, i turned ps4 on the other day and was going through the menus and then had a scrambled screen and it powered off. Now it won't power back on. i keep trying it periodically and it has come on a couple of times in like 3 days but only for 15/20 secs and then powers off again and wont do anything

What if my slim ps4 turn on just for a second a goes back off. No even gives time to boost properly. The blue light turns on.

I was hoping that my ps4 power supply have the same problem like your PSU. That way i could determine, the motherboard is not faulty. And i think, our PSU could not give 12V to the ps4.

@@DarkDezhel I sorted it in the end by changing the power supply and the power button. Not sure which one was at fault but it was one of the 2.
