      Perhaps you could combine two resistors such as two 0.33 ohm in parallel.

    • @MARCSLASH
      @MARCSLASH 27 дней назад

      The resistor is 16 ohms actually ( 5 bands: brown, blue, white, gold, orange. I've used a 18 Ohms 5 Watts resistor, but with higher tolerance and it worked. If you find a 18 ohms with correct tolerance (+ - 0,05%), 2 or 5 Watts (the original is 2), it should be better.

    I'm glad to know your video, I have same problem with the PSU, but in my case, I have 5V standby, and when I'm contact to trigger 12V, there is no 12V output, which components do I check?

    • @ToltecMerc
      @ToltecMerc  Год назад

      That was the case with this supply. 5V standby was present. It could be the PFC circuit or the 12V generator circuit. There are lot of parts between the two. Start by checking for shorted MOSFETs.

    Why did it only show 12 volts when you plugged in the connector?

    • @ToltecMerc
      @ToltecMerc  7 месяцев назад

      Because the 12V output has to be enabled. It is normally enabled by the PS4 main motherboard when it is time to turn on. I am manually enabling it with a special cable that has two of the wires connected together. The cable is connecting 4.8V standby voltage to the 12V enable line which caused the 12V part of the supply to start running.

    I came back to this video because i had a similar power supply problem, just like the second model you worked on. Changing the mosfet and resistor had the power supply turn on for me, and i thought the problem was fixed until the next day i found out they were shorted again. I am suspecting the zeiner to be the problem, but looking on another working board that ZD804 beeps normally in continuity mode, which got me really consufed.
    I am hoping to get a little explanation on that situation and what to do next.

    • @bazzi4711
      @bazzi4711 Год назад

      Update: i noticed the 2R40 resistors were giving different values, i thought maybe they were faulty, and i might fix it by changing them. But, after the change, they gave the same value due to the zeiner diode ZD804 turns out it was shorted. In conclusion, the power supply is fixed yet again, and hopefully, someone will benefit from my comment and notice the little details.

    • @ToltecMerc
      @ToltecMerc  Год назад +1

      Yes, often the zener shorts when the MOSFETs short. Some people may not notice because of the low value resistors in parallel with the zener. You should measure about 1 ohm across them. If you get zero, your zener is shorted. I find it helpful to have a multimeter that lets you zero out your lead resistance. It makes such measurements easier.

    32:03 - In case that you do not have very sharp tweezers, you can use simple paperclip , sharpen it using a sharpening file , then bend last milimeter using pliers. I used this item and cheap usb soldering iron to remove chips without hot air station. Put it under chip leg, and gently press to lift leg.
