So on the day i got home with the ps4 i used my ps3 cables to power it on and it miraculously powered on which surprised me as the controller was connected properly using the usb cable. But i saw the screen flash black then back to the home screen which i didn't know what is was then it did it once more and was displaying perfectly. After about 5 mins of waiting for it too show some errors or switching off because i did not expect it to work i plugged in my usb speakers to the other usb port on the front while the controller was plugged in. That was when the screen went black instantly. I didn't know what happened and pressed the eject button and a copy of GTA 5 came out which means the console was still powered on. When i plug the controller and speakers in on my ps3 super slim at the same time is says too many devices drawing power something like that. So i think it drew too much power on the ps4 and caused a wlod on the ps4. Could be crap stopping the laser move to read the disc, tapping it probably helps the laser dislodge itself so it can move to read the disc. so try cleaning inside the drive mate.
The solder balls cracking problem is common to all flip chips / BGA mountings (i.e. Xbox/PS2 onwards, strikingly prominent in the seventh generation with Xbox 360 and PS3) due to the redistribution of metals in the solder alloy and even on the copper pads themselves, that get sort of "eaten away" by solder to an extent. This thing is well known since the 90s in scientific articles, before even the PS2 came to be. Flip chips are basically time bombs likely to fail sooner or later IF serious heat sinking countermeasures are not taken. Redistribution of metal is faster at high temperatures. Board warping and solder ball cracking kick in earlier if the console isn't cooled down properly; this sort of design flaws contribute to the overall behaviour of the solder. Reballing isn't guaranteed to fix the problem; flip chips have tiny solder balls between the chip itself (that shiny rectangle on the smaller organic board) and the organic board, which is soldered directly on the motherboard. If those tiny solder balls fail, there ain't any "reballing" that can fix it, only a complete CPU/GPU/APU replacement with a brand new one.
The real problem is crappy lead-free solder. Replacing the crappy fake lead-free solder with real leaded solder balls makes for proper reballing repairs as long as the chip itself as well as the actual pads on the board and the chip are not damaged. Some of the chips on the older consoles had RAM chips BGA-mounted on the processor chip base itself, and more often than not those would get bad as well; the fix was to de-lid the chip and attempt to reball those, but at that point the effort and time spent was only barely worth it to save the one chip - and all because of inferior solder, and the environmentalist crazies who made it happen.

Actually that's where that term originated. Computers used to be mechanical. A bug in your program would literally be a bug in your program. When computers became electrical and more complex the term stuck with it.

Hi, I have a problem with my PS4. I searched my issue but never found anything similar. I bought my PS4 2 months after it launched. It was running smoothly until very recently. It started it kick me out of my games, not any game, games with high computing powers (that's what I noticed) such as MGSV, Mass Effect, The last of us, and Bllodborne. some other games, I play them for hours and it never kicked me out once. As most support specialists know, doing a complete format and repartition of a drive will most likely fix any kind of curroption on a disk drive. But the problem is how do you recover the lost data during this procedure when the PS4 drive is not recognizable to windows. How do you salvage the drive from a GPT protected partition that does not allow you to use any disk checking tools or any sort of diagnostics. That is the big 1 million dollar question that needs to be answered and I been searching and searching for hrs trying to find a damn resolution to this problem. Recovering the data > Reformated the hardrive > reinstalling the drive with the new firmware update > and finally, restoring all your data to the new formatted drive. Anyone have any solutations at all with how to perform these tasks.
Agreed, but it's probably going to take some serious reverse engineering workarounds to figure that out. If people could do it easily, Sony would lose out on all the money they make because people tragically lost a year worth of save data, leading them to buy PS+ for the save data cloud backups for the future. Make it easy enough for the average person to just pop it into their computer and recover the data, they lose out on all but the laziest of offline gamers' money.
After watching so many videos and experience that you have, I am writing to you With all due respect and love from India🙏. My PS4 just broke down 2 days back..it all started with a freeze in the screen while playing battlefield 4 campaign mode. Then wen I switched on the PS4, it said " checking system storage" and then it switched off again. After that they asked to reinstall the 7.55 update in USB and reboot.i also did that...since then I have been keeping on doing the same. Sometimes after initialization, system does turn on and wen I try loading games from cd or downloading apps, I have noticed that it takes alot of time to load a game from the CD which is very unusual. In a while it lags, system freezes or turns black automatically. Finally system asks for the 7.55 update in a USB again. With all hope I am writing to you and praying you to provide a solution for my above issue..Thanks bhaiya( Back in India it means elder brother)🙏
I need help I changed my thermal paste to artic 5 I blew out everything in the PlayStation and even the fan is spotless but it always overheats and the fan gets very loud
Three questions: How hot is the area where the console is? Also, how much thermal paste did you put? Lastly, did you tighten the processor clamp evenly?
when my ps4 is off it beep constantly like someone is pressing the eject button and when i turn it on the disc drive starts up like it's trying to eject a disk i have to unplug the the AC cord from the wall when i sleep or it wakes me up its so annoying .
LotsaLOUD it's the dodgey touch buttons try first cleaning it and keep it constantly clean. Remove the rubber leg under the button and if it still continues you need to open it up and disable it and eject thru the in game menu
Another common issue for random disc ejecting is the ps screw loosening, easy fix, remove the left top side of the ps4 (It slides off) and you'll see a very specific screw with the ps controller symbols, tighten that up a bit. Hopefully problem solved.
Thank you from a fellow pdx resident. I tore apart my ps4 to clean it out. I plugged everything back in and it gave the white light. I was already looking to buy a new one and tried a different HDMI cord and boom it worked.

What about your controller randomly cutting out and requiring a restart to get it to connect again? Usual scenario: I pause and have to go do something. Controller cuts out, I come back and press ps4 button but controller doesn't cut back on. The only way I can get it to reconnect is by powering off the console all the way. Controller reset doesn't work, connecting with usb wire doesn't work and using two other working controllers (one just purchased two weeks ago) doesn't work. The only info I can find online is it may be the Bluetooth antenna. Could you help a brotha out?
Well I came here to see if there was help.. but all 5 listed are not my problems. My issue with ps4 is the controller and ps4. Controller would blink and disconnect randomly when playing 30 mins to 1 hour or sometimes 10 mins online. Its weird because the controller blinks and disconnects online and unavailable to even turn back on until ps4 is reset or turned off. Regardless it keeps happening... and I know cant be the controllers.. because I used brand new controller still same problem. I updated drivers and everything. Bought a brand new USB cable and reconnected my controllers still same issues. I am not sure what " hardware" is it called for ps4. Maybe bluetooth for sure but not sure what the proper name is for it.... and I am struggling to find out how to fix that.
Old video but still gonna comment. The powerstrip issue could be due to a voltage drop. The longer the power line to the device is, the less voltage remains due to the resistance in the extended line. Now if it is a really cheap powerstrip, it could have really thin lines, which have a higher resistance. Or if you are far from the house / power net connection you also might have a voltage drop which adds to the power strip voltage drop. One could try to run the console on a regulated power supply and drop the voltage a bit. The US usually has 110V right? Maybe check how much you can lower it till you get that error.
lol I cant believe becoming infested with actual bugs is a legit problem xD Hats off to whom ever edited the video footage tho Question, I took apart my ps4 control to replace the x-axis switch on one of the thumb sticks, now instead of flashing blue when it (the controller) turns on it flashes red and half the time the light doesn't stay on even tho the controller is in fact on... what did I do -.- and is it fixable
I got the 1st gen destiny white ps4 and only problem i had was it spitting the game out while playing it in result you have to remove the bottom rubber bumper
darrell jamison put your PS4 on safe mode, then select option #5 which should be to "rebuild the database". That options fixes lag/freezing issues, corrupted data etc.
Such bad design. I mean, if it needs regular cleaning why make it so damn hard to fully access the heatsink, let alone have to break warranty to do so?

TronicsFix thanks for the response. But a lot of people got the same issue at the same time like a month ago . I’m just gonna find a store where they can fix it i will probably make it worse
TronicsFix , I have had my ps4 system since release. All of the sudden neither of my USB ports are working AND my storage is disappearing. (Max storage dropped to 360gb after deleting some data) I tested the USB with a brand new controller and got nothing. I tried resetting to default and now I'm stuck because it wants the controller plugged in and the PS button pushed to move forward. Is this a motherboard fix? Or is there a way to bypass this? I have a keyboard that for some reason did work before I reset to default.
I still have my old PS4 when it first came out still working fine for now. Might think about getting a PS4 pro later this year or maybe next year. Because I have decided that this is my last console ever getting it does not mean I'll go PC no not really. It's just that games in this generation have less great story telling less great gameplay and I grow up with the First Playstation 1 console I played the first playstation 1 and 2 and I can tell you for some reason they have more games that have great stories ok graphics and ok gameplay I didn't play Playstation 3 but I look at it and it was ok had great graphics and games but I noticed that there were less stories but more multiplayer like ever before. I started to think that maybe companies are more focused on online multiplayer at that time on oh boy was I right DLC, season pass, microtransaction I was like wow unfinished games more excuses just bad we need usernames and passwords all this garbage all I what'd was a console that play games without having usernames or passwords to go online and and pay to play online for $60 subscription fees I was like wow how much more do you companies need this is my last console ever sad so sad.
MyName AeV why is that I always thought that the PS4 pro would last way longer then my old PS4 maybe there's a problem in the system or the factory mistakes I really dont know why or maybe it just happens.
PS1 and PS2 have a huge game library and I still didn't touched some titles and I do play a lot sometimes so considering all that I wont be bothered for the next 20 years. For now PS4 is ok but this is the point where I have to stop buying new systems so I can actually play everything I wanted to play.
I've had my PS4 for over 6 years I clean it once a month. Never had any problems. Only thing I hate with this old model its very loud whatever game I choose to play.
TronicsFix Yeah From any distance, I would usually play games for about an hour and it would disconnect or it would move the character around constantly without me holding the controller I also thought it was the controllers but I got a new one and its still doing the same thing on that new controller
My ps4 does the same character just starts walking and control powers off and won't connect I have to restart all over making me lose all my progress due to non save

"there's bugs in the system" lol, and I thought bugs in software were bad.

Not on my PS4. My PS4 restarts and restarts again in safe mode. Doesn’t exit safe mode while turn on.
Just fixed my PlayStation4 with the help of this video. All I needed was a new HDMI cable. Whew

Hi,
I have a problem with my PS4.
I cleaned it many times, and opened it and cleaned the heat sink without any improvements.
any advice on this?

With all hope I am writing to you and praying you to provide a solution for my above issue..Thanks bhaiya( Back in India it means elder brother)🙏

ps4 random disc ejection
LotsaLOUD it's the dodgey touch buttons try first cleaning it and keep it constantly clean.
Remove the rubber leg under the button and if it still continues you need to open it up and disable it and eject thru the in game menu
LotsaLOUD look up David Rutledge. he has a video fix. pretty simple and works.
Another common issue for random disc ejecting is the ps screw loosening, easy fix, remove the left top side of the ps4 (It slides off) and you'll see a very specific screw with the ps controller symbols, tighten that up a bit. Hopefully problem solved.
The gold plate scratch fix is the only way to 100% stop the auto eject issue.

Could you help a brotha out?
charge it and keep it plug in
Same problem, thought i was the only one. Tried with multiple controllers but doesen’t work
Well I came here to see if there was help.. but all 5 listed are not my problems.

@@goldplex no still same problem
Old video but still gonna comment.
The powerstrip issue could be due to a voltage drop.
The longer the power line to the device is, the less voltage remains due to the resistance in the extended line.
Now if it is a really cheap powerstrip, it could have really thin lines, which have a higher resistance.
Or if you are far from the house / power net connection you also might have a voltage drop which adds to the power strip voltage drop.
One could try to run the console on a regulated power supply and drop the voltage a bit.
The US usually has 110V right? Maybe check how much you can lower it till you get that error.
