Good question. In the OUR System, there is a whole category dedicated to preserving the "RESPONSE" aspect in breakin, which is the Battle Category. The only way to achieve a "Perfect- 5 points" is to take what your opponent does, and do it better.

I can see where you're going with this, and I support you 100% Dyzee. Keep up the good work. IMO I think this will save our culture in the future. This system encourages me not to focus one aspect but to be a complete all around Bboy. Thanks man.

Okay, I felt that gave a nice insight into the intention and goals of the system and I can say that in the big tournaments especially I think it would be pretty appropriate. In smaller comps where the peeps can only afford one judge, then I suppose it would give some concrete criteria as well. Dyzee is a cool guy though, I met him years ago briefly and he is a genuine nice guy. I can understand his desire to give some direction to the scene.

This is the way to do it. The system allows for breaking to be more official and properly judged without providing any competitor with an advantage while allowing everyone to break in their own way. If anyone's unsatisfied with the results of a battle there's at least always proof that the judging was unbiased... and if they still aren't satisfied... just let them throw down in a cypher or something... Respect and props to Dyzee for his work.

What Dyzee said around 23:00 touched me, I lost my dad last year, and before he died I started getting into dance he showed me, his very own top rock that I do remember. I learned late on that breaking saved his life from gangs and drugs he lived in El Salvador, and over there all you see is gangs MANY people getting killed daily. To me breaking is my passion my heart to keep growing and show my dad that I could do it that I did my best. Much love Dyzee.

Opinion: man that was an emotional viewing, this vid. strong work. deserves more views. oh that judging system. The gift and the curse. Like any tool, many will love it and some will hate it. I feel it is necessary and I look forward to seeing it evolve across the planet.
Possible Fact: We got the most versatile dance on the planet. Most moves, most range, most personal freedom etc.( I look forward to it getting the respect it deserves)

I really have huge respect for dizzy and his crew for putting everything into a new judging system. you will be remembered in the future generations as THE Legend who has brought bboying into the next level. as the one who has revolutionized the art. I would love to meet you one day and just have a chat, or if I'm greedy - for a practice session, that would make me really proud saying: man, I've met dizzy!

We don't dance for money, we make money to dance and i think this judging system is very good because it's our duty to grow our community. And stop being so selfish and give the others a chance to feel what you feel... And if society sees us as a bunch of kids playing around , be sure that the community will start falling. A great documentary and I support you 100% , props from Romania! Keep up the good work.

For people who hate the OUR system, I don't understand. It is true that bboying started with cyphers, but battles have become more common and major competitions. Sure, if it was a cypher, there would be no need of judges, but if there are judges, it can't be a matter of who felt who won unless there are set guidelines. Judging with scores, people think its like a sport so its frowned upon, but it IS a competition. And you can't have a competition without rules.

I grew up in a rich family and talked to many well-paid, intelligent people and met a lot of great artists. And in my opinion, bboys represent such a great way of living a life... most of them are intelligent in a way that is important, they are creative, they are individual and I think they understand life in better way most of other people do.

I think this may actually be better for people with different styles as they can receive feedback on each of the 5 aspects of their style. I have fought battles where I lost and when I ask the judges for some feedback to improve, they tell me "well, the way I dance is...". I'm tired of feeling that I have to conform to the style of the judges rather than just being myself! Keep it up Dyzee!

It gives non academics a great creative outlet, as kids are always competing for things at that age and many feel neglected that they aren't good at something. That's why breaking is so beneficial because of what it offers which is a chance to be knowledgeable about something, generating a passion to educate others, an activity to do with friends and a cultural awareness and understanding among a myriad of other aspects.

About time bboying the judging system is being worked on this could prove another step for better bboying as a whole, I just hope bboys feel like they are being pressured to meet a certain criteria when dancing so its best to keep everything well rounded.

I agree with the R16 comment, when the competition is this big and alot is at stake, the last thing you want is the audience or other bboys thinking the judges were biased. So this way it helps prevent biasness in an effective way until a new system is developed that may be better or worser. But I do prefer the old system for smaller jams, which it is what I'm accustomed to.

Yo I support you dyzee! Nice video, nice info. I can see you put a lot of thot into this and I can see that this system will benefit bboying in a lot of ways. Make it less confusing. Make it big. And make it official. It can even help protect bboying from the media like Born said. I'm not anyone big but just wanted to put my thoughts of this video out there. I also think that if you get bigger people to support you like Skill Methodz, Pokemon, gamblerz, etc. More people would listen.

This system is best suited for the big battles where the skill level is so high and there is so much riding on the hard to make decision. Your local B-boy jam is fine with other locally sourced judges with decent experience to tell victors from losers. So I can see where this is necessary at the higher levels, it's not really relevant to the 'rawness' that is B-boying as an art, but rather a standard for organized competition. Thumbs up on from my 10+ years competing and dancing!

I wish bboying would get more respect. I'm the vice pres at my school's hip hop club and the school barely notices us. We were doing our prom assembly performance after 2 months and the day of the assembly they said we might not go on because they didn't plan for us to be in it. We only fit our performance in at the last 2 minutes. The club and our advisor and DJ BZBeats were very upset. When our school thinks of hip hop they think gangs and drugs and me and my friends are trying to change that.

but then the administration don't give us practice space as a club in school, and all the other organizations in our school that use the same space, when they want, like dance, sports
we just want a little respect for what we do for them...

This system is fundamental to the progression of the breaking community. I am a dancer but am also training to be a primary school teacher which is what I have chosen as my career so I can educate children about Hiphop and bboying as a dance (Which I have gotten on our dance curriculum now) Parents are always saying "isn't Hiphop that antisocial music/ ghetto culture?" and I constantly have to reassure them that their children won't grow up to be thugs ha.

thanks for the feedback, i;ve got your previous answers noted. how will you guys rate bboy Midus or Stuntmann with your system? I dont think they can win the dynamics category, but they are one of the most original and respected bboys which is true artform of this dance. People tend to think that the whole idea will kill the art of the dance and make sports our of it. Although i think it is happening already. Eagerly waiting for your answer...

I feel like that counts as what we call a "reset" in the bay area. If the elements of your set are not neatly juxtaposed or blended they will look "assorted"... Almost like ingredients lined up on a plate rather than cooked together and served neatly on a plate. So favor sets that do not include "resets".

I watched one of your videos on the solo R16 videos where one of the competitors lost but it had to be changed because of points. So the other guys won, because everyone thought he should've and yeah he should have. Just like how Pacqiao lost because of points. I find it great you want to make breakin a big thing, but I love it the way it is. But years and years and documents on a system just to choose the winners of a dance competition? Seems much more than it seems to be.

This could be very interesting if it sticks. One of the things that make any form of dance great is the way it constantly evolves according to the desires and context of where it's done. For that to happen, though, there needs to be a context, a box to think outside of. I foresee this establishing an excellent box for b-boys and girls to think outside of, and possibly producing things none of us can currently conceive. Should be nothing short of excellent, the more it takes off

  • @Yuri0i

I kind of share your vision, Dyzee. I am going to study soon and I want to get a great job, maybe in an office. But I always want to stay a bboy and show other people the meanings of being a bboy. So that we get accepted not only by the youth, but also by older people.
And I think, in Europe the last few years this is pretty much ongoing. Projects like Flying Bach and fashion labels made by bboys aswell as great video producers like JuBaFilms will get bboying big.
    And accepted.
