I'm a powerhead but I love watching Roxrite. Guy is amazingly clean, his name is fucking dope and you know bboying then you also know he fucking deserves that name. I highly doubt many if any non-bboys will even get through this video. Even fewer would even know that Roxrite started out in power and tricks when he entered his first comp and lost. What he does now is what every bboy should do... Learn all that you can do, memorize it all and do it as best as you can. Respect.
Rox, dude you're a boss. I used to be a hardcore powerhead and i've been working on my footwork, freezes, and transitions nonstop over the last few months and my style is so much cleaner and smoother. even powerheads should know footwork just to understand the origins of bboying. Thanx Roxrite for showing me the light.
Yeah if I was Rox I would be so tired of hearing that too. If you study the roots of bboying and how it was done by the founders, roxrite is pretty much the perfect bboy.
@Beanrocka Nah, they are our friends out in Barcelona, who we will be visiting in April. We will try and have Spanish subtitles for every major interview in the future!
Roxrite waking up the haters! Much respect to you, a true original bboy, that has always stayed true to himself and the dance and not tried to conform to a popular image of what a some people think is an dope bboy with flashy moves. Roxrite style is always smooth and clean but his real skill is in making technical and difficult transitions with freezes look easy.
Roxrite is not only footwork and freeze. He has mad power. And the fact that he is so well rounded is the reason why he won BC one. He's got mad flavor and he can get technical! Keep educating and rockin' right roxrite!
Are u kidding me? Roxrite has easy sets? He dances like a pro... His sets are beasts and his musicality is incredible. One of the most enjoyable bboys to watch.
@bboyariel1 Actually, that is how I thought, too, ten years ago first watching him. But like you said, the more we learn about this dance, the more we see how silly we were in thinking that way. Roxrite's dance is more complex than many people think. Thank you for keeping an open mind. -Daniel (strife)
today is a great day because I understood one more thing in breaking: it does mean a lot about the way you come into a freeze, transitions are very important I never considered that for all my 6 years of trainings and battles and realized it just now since 2007
this guy always inspired me to bboy since day one. and i liked the fact that he didnt like to follow the fad of how most people percieved bboying as a whole. rocking right 24/7 i wish that one day i meet this man in person. much love and respect - Neil Soulstice Philippines
Dope interview! "Where I come from, you had to be original. You had to come up with your own little moves. It doesn't matter if it's a big move. It has to be a dope original concept." Much props and respect to Roxrite. He's always been super-creative with his. -Midus
Thanks to Strifetv for doing this interview and posting it. I think Strifetv has provided a lot of the most meaningful bboy content on the internet. I really liked Roxrite quoting Ken Swift, I haven't thought of that before, but it is true. Bboy footwork are nearly exclusive to bboying, and therefore should be held in high regard.
This is mad inspirational, honestly roxrite is one of my fav bboys he has so much style and skill. and honestly ive only been breakin for 2 years but ive learned this lesson, and i saw my boy kid david getting it in there for a bit!
this is why we need to know our history. not just the OG's from back in the very beginning, but from the 90's all the way up to now. im still a young kid (only 17, about to be 18 in a few months) but how i was taught, i had to know the history and foundation first. i think its a matter of yourself growing inside the culture. strife.tv and roxrite are protecting this culture. respect to both! Bboy C-Rex Hometown Havex, Kansas City
Roxrite you the man bro, I use to be one of those dudes blinded by power & tricks but over the years i started to understand the foundation of breaking and began to really appreciate dance, music, and all cultures & expressions. Its a beautiful thing man
Are there really people that can't appreciate Roxrite's style. I saw him as a total scrub who knew barely anything about the dance and even back then, i knew he was something special.
What some people may not realize is that Roxrite has flares, halos, headpins, 90s, etc. He can do those things, he actively chooses not to, so he can do original stuff that sets him apart. A true master of the dance.
tell em ! tell em roxrite !!! man i hate how everythings power and flash now days mainstream crowd barely makes a noise for technical footwork i love that techy shit
Roxrite, much respect! been looking up to you since 2003. That's what it's all about is the execution of the moves and how u present it. you honestly did deserve the redbullbcone 2011 title...you brought out yourself in your moves naturally and not just the moves itself...that's expression! keep on rocking Roxrite and to all the other bboys too :)! Respect!
@SwirvCross It's hard to replicate the movements of any well known bboy; trying to replicate what roxrite does wouldn't necessarily help me understand the difficulty of what he does, when there are so many bboys that I would also fail to replicate; how would I be able to compare?
There is no bboy at all that is like Roxrite or has Roxrite style. I have mad respect and love for Roxrite. He's 30 and he's not gonna let his age affect what he loves to do. He's not like any other bboy. He doesn't always do footwork and he's not a powerhead. His style is so unique that no other bboy has. He's a true bboy. Being different makes you stand out. Being creative is what everybody in general should do. Think outside the box, break the rules , reach for the sky. Roxrite , mad bboy
Roxrite is the biggest inspiration! I started to bboying because of him and now i am a more complete dancer. HipHop with bboy elements. Big Respect Roxrite. Originality!
@TheRealness95 hey rox, being watching you stuff lately and at about 2 year experience im understanding and fully appreciating the original bboy foundation thanks to footage of your workshops because we honestly have about 40 bboys in ireland and i have had no teacher at all.. when i recover from my operation im going to work on what ive neglected.. if your ever passing our small isle man drop down to spread some knowledge would def get a great reception..peace man
Amen! im not goin to lie, this is gotta be the realest video i have seen by far. Much respect to roxrite doing his thing, and keeping the true foundation of a B-boy alive.
its not always about dynamic moves..its always about foundations, musicality and flow..all the others are just to make you more explosive and hard to beat for sure!! go roxrite!! cant wait to see you here again in dubai uae! peace!!
@toyzofzion i think people should do both. Question...a burning question from long ago. If enough people on youtube say the same thing, does that make it true?
@smeerios Lil G is at a respectable level and I feel he knows himself that Roxrite deserved it. The one dislike was clearly from the poster that Strife put on blast in this video. Great video! Always look forward to new Strife videos in my news feed.
@strifetv I suggest subtitles in What my grinds my gears, specially interview Dj Skeme, I think the community needs Know about it, I mean people talk in spanish, So I hope you can do it, please. Esto esta muy bueno...PAZ
I can't really see how roxrite wins so many jams, but ppl more qualified than me have said that roxrite is one of the greatest/ deserved to win the jams that he did. I will keep learning this dance until I can understand what he is doing. no doubt it is difficult.
@SwirvCross Roxrite also pointed out how coming up with original concepts is important. I think copying roxrite's sets would not help me understand the difficulty of what he does when the true difficulty of his movement comes from him having to think/create original concepts.
For me Roxrite is a awseom BBoy ! I don't know why there are so many People hatin on him but unlike other Bboys he have his own Style and this makes him so unique.
I never cared much for roxrites style, for me he lacked the energy that is essential to bboying. However watching this made me realize that he is orginal and that he has achieved all of his success with his originality and he deserves my respect. Much props
i hope you'll understand spanish: este es el comentario mas maduro que encontre en RUclips felicidades hermano y tienes mis respetos, greetings frm Bolivia
My bad i wasnt done with my class ;) foundation isnt the move it self .. there is basic fundamental moves but the move wouldnt be anytihng thing with out style and understanding of the music. When you combine the concept, style and understanding of the move to the music thats foundation. I my self am not a master but a student of the dance and im still learning every day .
Okay so i saw bboy roxrite for the first time today and i watch the bc one and i think he hella deserved his spot cause the footwork is how a bboy shows his creativity and its almost like his identity and the power moves an dfreezes show how much work hes put forth into bboying but thats just my opinion
can't master them new-school and power moves if you don't start with the basics. I was also surprised Roxrite beat Lil G, but watching him and Lilou more, I can see the style and power being demonstrated. They are both clean when executing the moves (e.g. footworks and freezes) and so perfection is always shown.
With the issue about crashing, I don't think we lose points because sometimes you crash, but you make the sickest recovery and it looks like maybe you meant to do it, so the crash could be seen as a transition in itself. Another case could be doing things that straight up look like crashes to a lot of people like a lot of Ray's stuff from Team Shmetta.
@aloteck Yes! like what bboy marlon said, he claims that bc one is just a flipping competition, when really there are a few bboys, like roxrite, who compete
People that rip ROX, and only want to see power simply don't understand this art... and that's not a dis on cats with dope power... most of the BBoys at BCOne level that have power have mad style too... but at the end of the day ROX is RITE ... Footwork, Tops, Funky Freezes, Flow... that's the soul of this dance. Thank God there are enough BBoys and BGirls around the world that get it and preserve it. Peace to the world wide B-People family.
much respect, and much love to BBOY ROXRITE. The bboy that proves we don't need to do airflares, windmill, or headspins. he makes the footwork is the main part of all. and that's why he wins Red Bull BC one
For a little wile i had bboy Ivan as my break teacher and always always he said to do your own thing, put flavor into your moves and be you in bboying. Show a little of the "ohhs and ahhs" but its about the basic moves which you innovate and originate upon. Roxrite, truly respected peace!
@bboy4life27 So you're saying you have more knowledge of bboying than Ronnie, Roxrite, Lego, Moy, and Wicked? Please let me know if you can step up to them. Since when did nobodies become qualified judges?

@bboykidyellow footage is from Outbreak 6, Claws Out Seattle, and BC One.
today is a great day because I understood one more thing in breaking: it does mean a lot about the way you come into a freeze, transitions are very important
I never considered that for all my 6 years of trainings and battles and realized it just now since 2007
True, my man. Very true.
I just love the way he plays around with the freezes, killing the beat and all that. This is a dance, not gymnastics.
@Dhampirito Hay subtítulos en español!

damn he even addressed the crashes? (8 mins in) this is beautiful. thank you.

I will keep learning this dance until I can understand what he is doing. no doubt it is difficult.
Sorry I need to post again.. people need to realize that bboying is a dance. That about covers almost all the confustion about it.
