How to manually Update/Flash BIOS Firmware on ASUS ROG Strix B350-F Gaming Motherboard

Worked for me. The only tip I'd tell people is to make sure you get the right .cap file for you motherboard. I kept trying to get one to work for an x670E-I, but I have an x670E-E. Make sure you get the EXACT one so it'll work.

After updating bios … plug your HDD back in and then click boot override on your desired hard drive. Worked for me !!
This is still relevant now as I used your guide to update my ROG STRIX B560-F to a 2023 firmware, so many thanks :-) I recognised the music you used by the way. I bought a FRIDJA citrus juicer and their product video used the same music :D

You can update the bios from the internet too in the tools menu it is even faster.

Weird... for some reason it took me over 10 minutes to update, and then the screen went black idle forever until I restart again after "Update successfully! System will be reset!".
It seems to work now, at least I hope that everything is right. Still great and simple tutorial!

your motherboard was win11 ready before too.....
the only thing that new bios might have done for you when it comes to win11 is change 1 default setting: TPM. has to do with security.

Keep in mind. Some update automatically downloading correctly so just go into the folder and transfer the files. No extraction was needed for me (crosshair vi wifi ac)

What if I'm still Windows 10? Can I use this update? No plan to update yet to 11. I saw you just selected your ram frequency. Is it okay? I mean, is it much better than enabling the XMP profile?
When I do the update will all my overclocking setting be retained or will I have to do all the setting again? Update. Ran Bios update. All working but all my overclick settings gone.
But only the loaded parameters or also the saved profiles in " ASUS Overclocking profile " ?
When you update your UEFI("Bios") your settings will always go to a default. You'll need to change everything again. Including the your RAM settings in the UEFI.

I have attempted this exactly as described but the section to select "usb or internet" never appears. Just goes directly to the drives. No way to update it. B660a... HELP!
If anything happens during bios update motherboard doesnt die. In some boards is fixable in some you need a tool or need to take to service. Easy fix.

I know your comment is old but what issues where you having? I’m asking because I am having issues myself
@@leoh3319 when I enabled XMP the computer showed a instability error or it wouldn’t boot at all. I saw that doing a bios update solved the issue and that’s what I did and now no problems. Could also be your ram or motherboard. Get a replacement if updating didn’t help.
@@kRdimeguns my issue is a lil different, i am having memory errors that cause crashes randomly (could just be idle on desktop and pc could crash, not freeze just an instant restart) with xmp on. Ran memtest with xmp enabled and showed various errors on multiple passes, ran memtest with xmp disabled and results were sometimes ok with no errors. Tested each ram slot and all showed ok and had sticks replaced. New sticks came in with same issue, my only idea was that either mobo is really fucked, ddr5 is just shit (i had my sticks month of ddr5 release) or bios issue :/, never got around to replacing mobo cause that is a pain I have a lot of shit inside my case to take out the whole mobo

When I did the test I got no errors which made it more confusing to me. Replacing fixed it for me. Try a friends motherboard? Other than that yea replace it.

This has way more to do with the cpu's memory controller communication with the board. Update mobo bios and alot of the ram issues have since been fixed for amd.

I havent updated my BIOS for quite some time , im using ROG STRIX B360-G GAMING
My Bios version at the moment is 1202 and the latest is 3101, thats like 11 missed updates on BIOS
So my question here is should i upgrade it or not ?, If yes , can i just download the latest or i have to go all those 12 step by step ?

I did update from BIOS V0303 (first realse) to the latest version v3805
Reason : to be able to run 7th gen
It's said : SUCCEFULLY (....) will reset now !
Then it was still booting, and said :"BIOS is updating plz dont shutdown to prevent boot failure"
But just after two seconds : BLACK SCREEN ! NO POST

what if I can't enter bios? when u hit f2 or del in my case I got about a sec to react, my keyboard is still not powered so I finally cannot enter bios. when the pc is working and I hit shift restart, I go into bios and my peripherals instantly stop working. so how will finally get my bios update done when I got no keys and mouse working on both situations? thanks in advance.
i updated my bios once and when restarting i couldnt go further than my bios again so i had to change my uefi boot is that bad ?

The part of the video that describes that power needs to be stable throughout the process comes right after you've followed the bios flash instructions. I started laughing because I have a good UPS. But I know that people who don't have a UPS have done the same thing and they are freaking out because it is the point of no return xDDD
hey question aren't you supposed to rename the file to something? When I go to the asus official website it says I have to rename a certain file to whatever it says. there cant remember off the top of my head.
