    Our 33 year old Worcester 35cdi finally died after years of leaks,fixes and replacement parts. Our local Boiler Engineer came out and applied a temporary fix but in the same process we have decided to go ahead with a brand new Ideal Logic Maxi 35HE installation, and we just cant wait. This video has been brilliant to help me understand and see what I am spending a lot of dosh on. Many thanks

    I never realised that those boilers were hung on small brackets like that, I always assumed that they were fixed to the wall with 6" rawlbolts or something like that. I have an old Vaillant Turbo Max, still working, but really noisy when the heating kicks in. Good video, very interesting. Thanks. I have read some good reviews for these Ideal combi's.

    Alan, you are a star !!! This video has helped me a lot. I'm now starting to understand my boiler functioning (Ideal Logic Combi 30) and how it works. Many thanks. By the way, I'm thinking of somehow running a heating plus hot water supply to my workshop which is located about 10m outside my home. I'd love to have hot & cold water in there, as well as a good means of economically heating my workshop in the wintertime. My wife has also commented that she would like some form of economical heating in her greenhouse in the winter. My Combi 30 would be okay to use, I think, because it's used now in my small 3 roomed upstairs flat, rather than in a normal two-level house, which I think the Combi 30 would normally be used for. Any advice that you may have would be much appreciated. Cheers! Riky

    Allen, great video and just the job for a new owner like myself. Just had 2 boilers ripped out and replaced by this wonderful piece of kit - deep joy, no more trips to the loft to re light a pilot light (age 79).
    Great fitter who serviced my other extinct boilers. Just tying to get to grips with the controls and I found a small (I hope) problem.
    The front screen will not go to sleep for me and will stay lit 24/7 cycling info. It did go to sleep for the installer on handover, but I now find it will not turn it's own screen light off.
    Have you any ideas or suggestions please, I feel sure it is only something simple (I hope), but it can never be right that this display screen stays on, albeit going off and staying back on again in seconds.
    It is a Ideal Logic Max C 24.
    Have spoken to installer, but he say it is normal for the info screen to light up if ANY actions are taken such as taps etc., but it should return to a blank screen shortly after.
    In my case it does NOT. Please help if you can before i have to make endless calls and searches to solve what should be a simple problem.
    Much appreciated, regards, Jim.

I've installed more of the vogue's though. I think they're quick neat little boilers, so far so good. I always recommend a shock arrestors installed with these, simply because of the plastic internal manifold. 👍

Designed with the engineer in mind for installation, servicing and replacement of parts. Only issue ive come across recently is poor ignition on minimum rate in service mode on acouple that iinstalled. Customers called Ideal who swiftly replaced the gas valve under warranty. I know the fittings are more expensive and the guns are not cheap and they require calibration . But the results look good and quick . But I don’t know if it’s your microphone picking up the press gun too much but they sound loud like my drill on hammer surely that can’t be good for your hearing ?? Great video. My view on these very long warranties is manufacturers know they will have to repair a few, parts are generally fairly cheap to them but the vast majority will fail to keep up the servicing schedule or will have installation deficiencies which will allow them not to honour the policy. Most (all?) seem to exclude damage due to hard water too.

    I read a lot on online reviews and pretty much all of them put the viessmann vitodens 100 as top choice but an engineer I’ve spoken to prefers these.

Issue I have is my present gas supply is 15mm and I really don’t want to rip up all my flooring to change it if any newer boiler has a 20mm requirement. This Ideal Logic looks like it has a 15mm gas supply !! Please tell me it has. If so, that’s the one for me. Thanks.

      Hi Stephen. Thank you so much for the question. Almost all boilers will need 22mm gas pipework, This will depend on a number of factors, Output of boiler, Length of gas pipe, You are only allowed 1mb drop over the pipework. Thanks.

      @stephenjnolan 3 года назад +1

      Thank you Allen for both a speedy reply and replying at all to my silly question. It’s just that the Ideal boiler review you’re showing does indeed look like it has a 15mm gas input, and if it does it may well be okay for me. Can you confirm this please. Thanks again, I’m presently watching all of your videos for more help. Ta.

    • @AllenHart999
      @AllenHart999  3 года назад +2

      Stephen Nolan you still need the correct flow of gas to the boiler, the ideal logic allows 1mb drop over the installation, just like any other boiler, you would need to have an installer do a pipe sizing calculation. Thanks

    Another great video Allen. One suggestion for another video, you touched on it here. Is how to correctly size a combi boiler, taking into account flow rates/gas pipe size etc. I get asked an aweful lot how it should be done by fitters who just install whatever they can 'get away with' or whatever size is on offer etc. Also on all our newbuilds we fit 35kw logic regardless but the builders wonder why there's issues down the line. Be good if you could put together a detailed video for 'installers' a guide to sizing correctly. 👍

    Do you find it’s quite a loud boiler? Mine is mounted on a stud wall with no insulation so it’s sounds very loud in the room next door that the boiler backs on to! So loud we are looking at soundproofing or moving the boiler.

      Most combi boilers need a 3 amp fuse but it is worth checking in the installation manual or give the manufacturer a call. Thanks.

    Hi Allen
    This might be a bit off topic but I would really appreciated any advice you may have.
    I have a Logic combi C24 installed 2018 with a remote thermostat. The boiler is fine but the thermostat is a problem. The thermostat needs 4 good quality batteries to function. When the batteries first ran out, I replaced them but the remote wouldn't pair with the boiler. Their remedy was to replace the thermostat with another saying it was faulty. I happened to replace the batteries before running out in subsequent years but didn't manage to this year (they run out before the time stated by Ideal). The same problem has happened again. I am doing all per instructions as I usually do but the thermostat just states 'pairing' and will not go beyond that. I have turned the boiler off and on at the mains (as per their troubleshooting instructions) before replacing the last battery.
    I called logic but they were unhelpful. There must be others with this same issue. Do you have any experience or guidance for me so I can solve this? Many thanks

On a small square not at the top of it. And outlet drain at the bottom. I think it maybe a water drain, like condensation or something like that?

    What distance from the boiler would you say is safe to solder fittings onto the pipework to prevent heat travelling up through the pipes and into the boiler connections? I'm guessing when you initially extend the tails with hot solder fittings you do it with them unscrewed from the boiler .

    I thought people might be interested in a customer experience of an Ideal Logic Combi boiler. You might say that if you'd known how I intended to use it you would have suggested another make - in fairness I didn't expect the price of gas to triple and be warming one room instead of three. To highlight the problems I'm comparing an Ideal Logic Combi coupled with the Ideal Halo thermostat to a Vaillant boiler using the supplied (Vaillant) thermostat.
    Both systems are usually heating one radiator with an output of around 500W.
    The Vaillant and (PID?) controller tops up the radiator with hot water roughly once every ten minutes with the result that the room temperature is virtually constant. The boiler makes a single burn of around 30 seconds and turns off [the pump runs on for a few minutes]. For most of the year the flow temperature is (manually) set to 45 degrees or less. The system works well with other radiators fitted with TRVs and just does what central heating is supposed to do.
    The Halo thermostat looks sophisticated but actually isn't. It turns the boiler on when the device is 0.3 degrees below setpoint and off when it reaches the setpoint - the device seems to have been designed more for appearance than function and the actual room temperature varies considerably before the Halo reaches either the upper or lower switching points. A typical cycle involves the boiler short-cycling for around half an hour finishing up with the flow at 70 degrees (which gaurantees overshoot) followed by a half hour delay while the room and the water in the central heating system cools down enough to repeat the performance. Radiators fitted with TRVs only work when there is hot water in the system so we now use fan heaters to heat up a room if/when required.
    The Halo controller is (apparently) compatible with weather compensation but Ideal have already convinced me I've bought a system designed by idiots and, well, more stupidity isn't necessarily better.
    One of the more obvious signs that the Ideal Logic is an expensive way to heat a house is that the fan in the boiler blows cold outside air through the heat exchanger continuously for the half hour that the boiler is 'on'. To the extent that Ideal Technical help are either technical or helpful this appears to be how the boiler is intended to operate. The Ideal helpline did suggest it 'might' work better if the Halo were in the coldest room but when only one room is heated this isn’t helpful.
    Taking into account the spurious fan cooling, the short cycling and the need for electric heating I would estimate the real efficiency of the Ideal boiler to be closer to 50% than anything the 'A' rating label is intended to imply.
    I am reluctant to scrap the Logic Combi after only 18 months but in reality this is probably the best option.
    Summary: I would not recommend an Ideal Logic Combi to a friend.
