Thank you.
Love the cheeky drain off down the bottom Allen
You can just do it from filling loop but I didn’t want to splash the boiler too much. Thanks.

Another great video Allen. I’ve bought myself a Vogue Max System 26 which I’ll be installing once the heating season is over. I can finally retire my faithful and reliable 30 year old Potterton Netaheat. Hoping to donate it to my local Assessment Centre as it’s a positive pressure fanned boiler as you will know.

Brill boilers. Just had one installed and got to say the Ideal Vogue is a quality piece of kit and worth the extra over the newer WB Geo line.

Good video appreciate it Allen. You’re diamond.
Hi Javid. Thanks.
Hi I saw your videos and I really enjoyed it keep up the good work.
I have a Main Eco 30 Combi boiler I was fitted about 7 years ago, the whole pipe work is new and radiators.
There is one thing that annoys me on my boiler is that when ever is ignites it makes a small tiny explosive noise you can hear it from far 😫
I have so far replaced the electrodes since it was old and bent (it was working but I wanted to avoid it failing), the heat exchanger was hoovered and the seal was replaced, the diverter valve and actuator was replaced (since a small leak damaged it).
I have regularly flashed the water out using the drain point and running the boiler and keeping an eye on the pressure (the water is never too dark and flush it until it is clear water, I added some inhabitors, clean the filter out and took the air out of the rads, it is well balanced too.
I had to pressurise the extension vessel which is good now, on the same time I took the prv out and cleaned it very little dirt on it it’s working good, I also cleaned out the part in which condensation and other dirt accumulate.
There is one thing that annoys me on my boiler is that when ever is ignites it makes a small tiny explosive noise you can hear it from far 😫, you could describe it like a small delayed ignition 🤷🏽♂️
What would you recommend to check?

I've got the 458, my analyser probe looks much longer 🤔. Nice simple boiler to both service and install. ✋ Allen 💪
I noticed that.. stumpy probe!?
Allen you said about efficiency level you can get that High by lagging all that press fit you can also get it higher by range rating it but I'm not sure you can with vogue
You cannot range rate a Vogue unfortunately.
Hello to all engineers out there, and again a massive thank you to Allen for an amazing and thorough video. I have a quick question how long does it take for a engineer to complete a full service? thank you for all your answers
Anything from 30 mins upward
There’s some boilers we work on regular and can have stripped down and cleaned in no time
Nice to see a full service. I recently used a Kane 455 and found the printer was very slow. Your 456 seems much faster.
My mates 455 started slow came back from a service alot faster. I have a 458 was fast has slowed right down, but I am brutal on the batteries...

What a piece of cake to service and a user interface that’s easy to understand, if the ratios need adjusting, is that done via the gas valve or board?
Not sure you can adjust these. Thanks..

Great video Alan. You seem to really like this boiler, did you not fit a baxi in the new house? May I ask why?
I really do like the Ideal Vogue, I installed a baxi in my new house as it's smaller and more compact. I also like the brass etc in the baxi, Thanks.
Brilliant video Allen. I've got an ideal ISAR, it's nothing but trouble. I don't think I could ever go back to ideal. No matter how good they are now. Never in a month of Sunday.
Lots of really good boilers these days from all brands. They just need a good installer. Thanks for watching.👍
The ISAR was awful, fitted one in my old house. Ideal are good now, every manufacturer has a bad boiler somewhere in there history. That ISAR was bad though 🤣
Hi Allen Great video. Did i read your anylizer correct as it appeared to show (21:44)on Max fire 159ppm of CO. Is 159ppm considered acceptable in the UK?
As long as its less than 350ppm, Thanks.
Great vid. Would be good to see servicing vids on other brands as well.
Which brands would you like to see? Thanks.
Baxi, Worcester’s, Vaillants, common ones really or just anything you have access to. Looking forward to a mini series on servicing the different makes. Thanks
@@IbrahimAliSapnin I have already done a few of them but i will try and add more when possible. Thank You👍
Alan you mentioned that the Vogue has all brass fittings. Is that the case with newer vogue boilers? I had a Worcester and the failures I have experienced are with plastic components. I will buy a vogue if hey still have all brass fittings.
GREAT VIDEOS

Alan, i have messaged you before, about boilers, and the extension that we are having built right now, anyway the builders said to me you pick any boiler you want and we will fit it for you, so i chose the ideal vogue, i hope that your ok with that one as it now comes with 12 years warranty i am told,it will connect to 10 rads ,but we are just a 4 bed semi, and as a fan of you and your work i thought i would check out my decision with you before buying, Ps its not a combi, we have a 36/18 prelagged, Thanks again for all you video,s
peter ryan The vogue is a very good boiler in my personal opinion.

I wanted cordless, I also have a Henry. 👍
Really informative videos.do you do a earth loop test at the service?
Get yourself a regin pump for the vessel's they have a really long hose on them.
Thank you Gary.
Hi Allen, have you had any issues with rain water in stormy weather being blown into the outer section/air intake on the flue on ideal boilers? I have an ideal vogue, with a horizontal flue. There is no white showing, it's all fitted correctly. It's just seems to be in high winds in a certain direction the rain is blown into the flue and drops to the bottom of the vogue and drips out via one of the holes at the bottom.
Any ideas on what we can do to resolve, installer installed a cage over the flue which improved it but when really stormy we still get rain water in. Thanks - love the videos!
Hi Rob. I have heard of this but it’s normally when the flue hasn’t been installed correctly . As you know the flue needs to be level. Thanks.
Nice boiler, great informative video. When buying one or these boilers do you need to specify Nat Gas or LPG so it’s fitted with the correct injectors? Or will it be self modulating?
steroy69 I am not sure tbh, if I was installing an LPG one I would check with ideal., Thanks
Morco make LPG combi boilers which are an ideal boiler with a morco badge on. Made in Hull.
Is there such a thing as Standard service vs Strip down service? If yes then what's the difference
Don’t know about you Allen but I love ideals for servicing there so easy also where did you get that tool bag from I want one hahah
Thanks very much for your comment, please consider subscribing to support the channel 🙂
New Engineer here, does the boiler needs to be firing to put in service mold or just calling for heat? Great video!
Yes, you need a call for heat. Thanks
just curious ,do you not check the new combustion seal for leakage with the analyser and ldf the gas seals that you disturbed and do you not use a torc wrench to re tighten combustion door to MI Tolerances ?
I have never met anyone who uses a torc wrench, do you know how tight they need to be?
Thought the whole purpose of these boilers was not to need an annual strip down unless you had a problem? Seems a bit overkill, and the cost of replacing the heat exchanger seals an unnecessary cost to the customer. That's what Baxi taught me.
Thanks very much for your comment, please consider subscribing to support the channel 🙂
Great video. Good for new gas engineer like my self. However on the reading the boiler ratio was 0.0017 and the max should be no more then 0.0008 can you please explain. Thanks Allan
Always read the manufacturer's instructions dude. They are your bible.
you've got one to many o's. 0.0080 or with a air/gas ratio control valve it's 0.0040 Alans got 0.0017 so it's far below action levels
@@bamjonny was about say that too. 0.008 is classed AR I believe, but 0.005 is the limit for an overhaul. Tbh I'm yet to see a reading that high
Hi Allen, It shows very good customer after-sales service, but if I had been you I would have asked for two seals so that I had a spare in case another seal failed at a later date.
John Fithian-Franks I will buy some from merchants for van stock. 👍
I still use my masters bag ever since I saw your video, changing from your little blue bg box, mines no where as clean as yours tho. Quality bag tho 👌

is 1 bar for the expansion vessel normal for every combi boiler of this size or there abouts? i have performa 28 and needs pumped up as pressure needle goes up when heating on
I normally do them to 1 bar Thanks.
I have just had a gas service engineer at my council property ( a ground floor flat ) to conduct a service on my gas boiler. One of the first things he did was go into my bathroom he had something in his hand I asked was he looking for a plug socket? he replied no I’m looking for a window I was in the kitchen by the kitchen window he asked could I put a probe through the kitchen window. I did and told him that is the first time a gas engineer from his company and the previous company had asked to or did that. His reply was that they should. Put a probe through a window. Then moaning about the poor access to the boiler in the cupboard. he was going to report the poor access to the boiler. He proceeded to take the cover off the boiler and as far as I know, serviced the boiler. I was not paying much attention but did not see him check gas supplies to my meter as other engineers have done. The previous gas service company, engineers, would clean the boiler with a vacuum. The present company that service the boilers does not clean with a vacuum. On previous visits from this company, they have gone into my kitchen and checked my gas cooker This time he did not. While I was stood at the sink doing the same dishes, he came behind me, and I believe he took some pictures of the appliances I have in my kitchen. He was at my property, no longer than 40 minutes as I had time to do some dishes, boil the kettle and use my toaster he sent all done and left could I have some feedback please?
Is pumping to 1bar always enough for heating circle's expansion tank?
I normally do them just over 1 bar. Happy new year. Thanks.
These videos are great! I was curious what was inside the boiler and how it worked. I have a Gloworm one, what is the buzzing sound it makes when you run the hot water? It sounds like a fan or maybe it’s the pump. It must be normal as British Gas service it every year!
Do they strip the boiler down like this ?
Can you press straight on to a drain off? Or is there actual press drain off fittings?
tyrone Sylvester That’s a very good question, The speedfit drainoffs have a longer tail so you can press onto it 😂👍
Hi ! I truly like your videos. Just to know do u work individually or with a certain company ?
I work for myself. Thanks.
@@AllenHart999 Oh, that's awesome. Thank you for the reply. Really appreciate it.
Nice video. Are you 100% sure they'll change all the parts for 10 years if you have it serviced? Pretty sure they'll change all parts for one year due to boiler warranty but after that any part will be changed unless its general wear and tear which absolutely ridiculous as what else can it be to cause part failure?
I have never had any issues. Thanks.

Hi Allen. Great videos mate. I’ve seen in a few manuals they recommend using white vinegar on that heat exchanger. Have you tried it? I’ve had a few of them heat exchangers recently that have been really dirty. Just wondered if it was worth doing?
Not yet
Most engineers I see even on large contracts with councils. Never ever take the boilers apart like you are doing ,, most stick an analyser in flue nothing else. Job done. . No other tests at all. No wonder they do 15 a day.
Thank You
The vogue is a great bit of kit! Always seem to get a higher co reading on them, any idea why? Have one in my own house set up with a nest very good modulation
I must agree, These are very very good boilers.
Quick question. Should you of done a gas test because a seal was broken on the gas inside boiler. Thanks
no requirement to test the gas, just needs spraying
Hi Allen, do you gas rate on a service and if so do you put it on high fire to do that
yes
Hello Allen, I have watched your video few times, is this seal like G10 seal or not?
All the best.
No it’s a different seal on the ideal vogue. Thanks
@@AllenHart999 thanks.

Thanks very much for your comment, please consider subscribing to support the channel 🙂
Interesting that they use what looks like a rubber seal when I've had to change a good few vaillant/glowworm and they're graphite seals but using the same HE
Yes it’s a rubber seal. Thanks.👍
The way the vogues introduce the gas/air mixture into the burner keeps the burner door cool when burning - think that’s why they can use rubber and they last longer.
In terms of the building regs, would the boiler service requirements on a lpg static caravan system be similar to the boiler service within a house?
Yes i believe so but it would be a good idea to check with the boiler manufacturer. Thanks.

can you use press fit in inaccessibly locations
Yes, Depending on the manufacture
Have you noticed the brown debris "coffee granules" are ferrous ? Also I have noticed haveing lower return temps seem to accelerate the build up. What's you thoughts on what it could be?
Dan Moreton I haven’t really noticed but not sure what it is. Thanks 🙏
Explains the rusty looking trap
Dan Moreton no idea why though. Have you ?
Allen Hart maybe the it’s the quality of stainless being used. Iv also noticed the welds on som of the bigger stainless hex are ferrous to. Condense definitely speeds the forming of the debris up tho. In some applications we have boilers that see a return temp of 60+ regular are clean as a whistle
Dan Moreton same happens in the Viessmann heat exchangers
Hi Alan great video. Isn’t a tightness test and gas rate required? Did you do this off camera?
Matty Power you are not required to do a tightness test on a service.
Allen Hart thanks for your quick reply! I see, I thought it would be good practice, there’s usually a section on the cp12’s. What about gas rate? Or because working pressure is good and ratio is good no need?
Matty Power I Always gas rate and do inlet pressure
@@AllenHart999 but you should test the safety device, which would be like a mini soundness test on the boiler only... to prove its working and gas valve not passing
Nice and precise.
Was the Orange water from the rads internally rusting? If so would you be tempted to put a magnetic cleaner on the system
The orange trap has no connection to the heating, Its for the condensate water. Thanks.

Yes
ruclips.net/video/yqAXdhsTHjM/видео.html

Because it looses its charge.
Considering the vogue c40 for a 4 bedroom detached house, 1 bath, 1 electric shower and 14 rads. Will the c40 be more than adequate?
Depends on a number of things really, Do you know what your cold water flow rate is at the moment? Also how far away is the gas meter. 40kw is normally way too big for most people. Thanks.
@@AllenHart999 the gas meter is approx 5 metres away from the boiler, not exactly sure on water flow rate but the flow is quite fast. Only considered the c40 as it has a high flow rate
