    Nice install. Wish they were all like that. Spot on with the sections you highlighted in the manual Alan . Flues are rarely installed correctly. The rubber weathershield actually clips over the ridge in the terminal. Also the 1m of copper, rare but does happen. Can’t stress enough how important it is to get that x800 completely out of the system. Any of it left it turns the water a green colour and ruins the pumps. Can go through a pump every few days. (Talkin about you Greenheat)

    Nice job 👍🏻 I too well remember wacking the back of my hand on many occasions 🤬 I still use a tube expander but prefer the 'scissor' type. Great for extending tail pipes to radiators where needed. My tip is anneal the tube before expanding. I've known the tube to split on occasions, so better safe than sorry!

  • @mohammadalijamalan5377
    @mohammadalijamalan5377 3 года назад +3

    Apparently the swaging tool is prohibited by some authorities now. Best to check with your building inspector. The expansion of the pipe narrows the copper wall thickness at the joint. That's why it cannot be used on new water or gas installations!

    Hi Allen
    I watched this video and it came to the part where john was connecting up his pipework. He prefers swaging his pipes rather than applying fittings, be they Endex, Yorkys, push fit, or the crimp type you use.
    Myself I would go for swaging first. The reason for this is not just economy. By swaging which does look very neat indeed, it also reduces the chance of a possible leak by up to 50%. Obviously teeing and reducing would need fittings (hence up to 50%)but, a much neater look and a lesser likelihood of leaks is obtained by swaging. :-)

    Hi, I have an Ideal boiler 15 kw for a three storey with about 11 radiators. I got terrible bangs at the motorised valve for heating in one zone when the heating is turned on. I wonder is the circulator in the boiler too powerful for the house? Not sure if I need a special slow close motorised valve or an arrestor or can I can just slow down the pump.

    I was told some years ago at my gas Safe refresher that you were not allowed to expand the pipe anymore as it causes weaknesses in the pipe.

    • @hdhanji8006
      @hdhanji8006 4 года назад +1

      Yup, it thins the copper so shouldn't be used on gas

    • @craigwatson7692
      @craigwatson7692 4 года назад +1

      I'm not saying your wrong, but on that theory, you shouldn't use a pipe bender either as this also thins and weakens the copper.

    • @hdhanji8006
      @hdhanji8006 4 года назад +1

      @@craigwatson7692 tests show the burst strength of bent copper is more than straight lengths, theory being the inner edge of the bend is compressing the copper (to increase strength) and stretching on the outer edge of the bend. Swaging works differently as it stretches from all directions of the radial copper pipe, with no compression taking place compared to bending, hence why bending is allowed :)

    Hiya, am all new to this and just wondering:
    1. Approximately what price the Ideal Locic Max installation should cost roughly? (in € if possible, I am about to pay €2400, is this reasonable - includes flush of 11 heaters)
    2. About how long should the entire installation take including the flushing?
    3. In your opinion, Ideal Logic Max better than Bosh? Or are they similar enough? Any better on the market I should consider?
    4. I know there is a lot but is there any main points to check before my gas man leaves?

    • @AllenHart999
      @AllenHart999  3 года назад +2

      £2400 sounds a very fair price TBH, As long as you have the boiler serviced it will be under warranty so you will have total piece of mind. Hope this helps. Thanks.

    Hi Allen
    I feel so stupid as after repressurising the boiler i’ve got no water coming from the hot taps. Have I accidentally switched off a valve? 😞So appreciate your help

      i am guessing you have left the tap off that feeds the hot water. Very common

    I think it is OK, but i have always considered mounting a boiler on a flammable surface as bad practice. I alway insist on plasterboard layer over the plywood. I am a joiner though and am told i think too much 😮 I am very impressed with the swaging, never seen that before. It looks super nice. But i'll stick to end feed fittings as i have enough tools for my joinery.

      Appreciate your comment, I always do this on the job. It looks better and it makes it easier for me personally.
      It's around £25 for a sheet of plywood and with the off cut I use it to cover the old floor because we all know they are battered and broken boards.
      When the customer pops their heads in they can see I've taken my time and not only cleaned then system, I've tried to tidy things up.
      You wouldn't believe the amount of times a customer as complimented my work not just the boiler but the way I've tidied the whole cupboard up.
      They are the jobs that the customers want doing but dont like doing lol.
      I'll crack on this way as it works for me.
      Like I say, thanks for the comment though.
      Ps, the swaging tool is from Amazon 👍

    Hi, I have this boiler in my home. I have turned off the black valve of the far left underneath the boiler and it is now stuck and won't turn back on (the valve is stuck). Is there a reason for this and is there anything I can do to turn it back to where it was. Also, what problems would be caused if it is left turned off? Thanks

    • @craigwatson7692
      @craigwatson7692 4 года назад

      I agree. The worst thing I find with the logics is the service cost. The seal replacement kits are £50 and unless your just sticking your probe in the flue, you will end up replacing the seals, at least on every logic I've touched they've need replacing. Compare that to a baxi 600/800, the burner seal doesnt need changing unless it looks distorted and even if it does, so long as it's under warranty, baxi will send you a free one. So you've got 2 boilers with similar prices and warranties, one has a stainless steel heat ex, brass components and cheap service costs, the other has a heat ex which is no stronger than a tin can, plastic components and costs twice as much to service properly, which one you going to choose?
