I was pretty bummed when I read that the JP version had some performance issues. However, I looked into it and some reviews said the performance issues got fixed in later patches. Great review, it's good to know the game ran great for you. definetly gonna pick this up since I enjoyed Memories of Celceta.
Totally glad I wasn't the only one who hated the controls. After playing 7 and celceta the new control scheme really messed me up. Especially having a jump and sprint button. I changed my control scheme 7 times before going back to default. I also loved that with Ys 8 they made it a lot more crucial to having the correct party unit deployed to fight weaknesses of enemies. In the previous games I would just use adol to muscle everything and only switch due to low health. Other than that adol always felt really powerful in 7 and celceta all the time. I'd say he was at his strongest in 7. His ultimate weapon gave him all attributes(slash,pierce,crush) so there was almost no need for any other characters.
Just great game. I just got a US version , and to my surprise , the EU and the US versions have separate trophy lists :) so I get to unlock another set it trophies for this great game

There is another Ys game on the Vita: Ys Memories of Celceta. I think the story is better than 8 but it hasn't certain things like camera controll. Anyway a great game too. There are allo the ones on PSP that I did't play, but they should be good. If you can play these games do it and you could allo do a review.
Hummm Celceta's story doesn't even comes close to 8... Like, doea Celceta really have a story to begin with? It's just a generic save the world stuff.... ys8 on the other hand, have some really outstanding story telling and fantastic characters. Tho that said, map design wise I do prefer Celceta...
It's a great game I'm playing the Japanese version and it's amazing how I've got the game. The disadvantages are the duration of the battery and the charging times in some areas

Does the vita version have dual audio or is it only the ps4 version that has it? I've already preordered the game and I'm really looking forward it but I hope the framerate isn't like Toukiden 2 on vita. The framerate in that game wasn't bad (it was actually decent) but I constantly felt it dropping a bit too often considering it's a semi-long game that it all added up and annoyed me a bit too much by the end (I still completed the story though). Toukiden 2 is also an ARPG and I really feel like this genre needs a good framerate above everything else. I do have a PS4 but the extra content on the PS4 version doesn't interest me that much and I really like the portability of the vita, not to mention I like playing at night or while lying down on my bed like a lazy bum... I'm having my fingers crossed here for a satisfactory framerate on vita!
+Ax Ky it plays much better than toukiden. I didn't have any frame rate issues. I don't think it has dual audio, or at least I didn't see the option for it in the menus. I prefer portability too. I do most of my gaming on the train to work. I would like t have more time with the PS4 but it doesn't happen. It's a shame we're not getting the extra DLC but it's just extra stuff rather than essential content
Yeah that’s so much. Even the regular version is expensive online. It seems like they didn’t produce many copies which is a shame given how good the game is.
I can see the Vita going the opposite way to the PSP and becoming incredibly rare and expensive to collect for within the next 10 years. It has a huge collectors appeal to it which I havent felt on a console since the Snes. All those limited run games and collectors editions.....need to win the lotto!
Not much easter eggs or anything. I played the PC version that has more content and I'm a huge Ys fan, I've played every single Ys game of the Remastered content since it have lots of old games that were remade not so long ago, and Ys foliage ocean in celceta (Vita Only) has some easter eggs about the first game, but there are too little on this one. Like Atalgo is the place where Ys Seven takes place, and Griselda is an important character on the Vita game I said here. And they did some comments about Esteria where the first and second Ys games takes place. But it's an amazing game and you never need to play a prequel to understand the sequel, except for Ys II, in this one you need to play the first one.
30 hrs in and I love it, Y's is my favorite RPG action game series ...I've seen Switch footage and heard complaints with the fps and slow down, I have had no issues with the Vita ?? I don't know who spread this lie cause it plays very smooth....I only have one negative with chareecter conversations being a bit off with the English comprehension making choices odd sometimes. That said this is the highest on my list for recommendations... Y's Seven is also a very good choice for those who want to try Y's out and with Vita Adrenaline PSP ports it looks really cool on the Vita .

I not sure this is true but i heard that the PS4/PC will have abit more of Weapons and Accessories, and the game has Inferno mode, which i guess it's harder than Nightmare mode. Ye might want to search info about this in GameFAQs forums.
Phantom Baphomet PS4 additions include: 1: a bonus dungeon for Dana. 2: in addition to the tower defense minigame, you get a monster nest raid minigame. (Think an offensive minigame in addition to the defensive one) 3: Inferno Difficulty. (I can see why this is locked to the Ps4 version. Your defensive game needs to be on point in addition to your resource management skills and Offensive capabilities) 4: Night time versions of some of the games dungeons Which feature different enemy placement. Different, harder enemies. Different item drops and no ability to use the stone monuments for fast travel. (Basically you have to run the night dungeons from start to finish) Those are the big 4 additions I can recall. Haven't finished the game yet so I don't know if there will be more surprises. But some of the 2 Minor quality of life differences i notices are 1: all armor have individual sprites instead of using palate swapped versions of about 8 different designs. And 55-60 fps vs 25-30
I'm really confused... These "comparison" videos always seem like to make the vita version stutter a lot but in your video the game seems to run pretty fine. I finished Origin on the Vita not long ago and it was a great game. Yes, there were some nasty FPS drops during boss fights but they didn't hinder my enjoyment... Great review overall!

Think I'll pick up this game. I have been looking for something similar to Toukiden 2, so this should fill that gap easily.
