- Anna and I each worked in our own houses, stitching towards a finished quilt top, both of us used that cool webbing technique to construct the tops and in this video I'll explain to Anna how that's done. It's not my idea! I've seen it in lots of places, Bonnie at Quiltville is a master of the technique as is Terry, who's quilt I am making
• Color Wash Quilt Scrap... here is the video from Terry that inspired THIS video • A lovely way to use yo...
I am really grateful to Spoonflower, they have been so friendly during this whole process. A real joy to work with. Visit them here and start your creative journey

Rosemary's Garden, The Soul & The Magic of Dawn.
Next time you see this project, each of us will be quilting our finished quilts - the end is near - I can almost taste it!
Thank you so much for watching, liking, subscribing, sharing and commenting. I really do have the best people sitting on my Lime Green Sofa! Peppermint tea and Apple Cake heading down in both directions - help yourself!
Take care

I'm glad Anna changed the colours of her quilt, it's very clever. Kates postage block is fabulous. Anna turning into Kate, is not a bad thing ❤
Love watching Anna willing to learn to quilt its a wonderful place to be music is absolutely lovely!
I love your quilt.
Love Anna lying on the floor to see if her quilt fits! I love seeing you two together. Wish you were sewing together.
Actually there are two heartfelt moments in this video: Anna lying down next to her beautiful quilt (being kissed by Frank) and Kate multiplying using her fingers. You are such wonderful and creative people. Thank you for sharing❤
Yes! I'm glad to see this in the comments.
You are so right!!
And still getting the maths wrong!! Thank you - I'm so pleased you enjoyed it xxx
I think Anna’s quilt needs a border
@@thelasthomelyhouse yes. I was trying to tell you ‘63’ Kate. Couldn’t you hear me? Only a few days and half a globe away.😉
I love to see you how well you get on with your daugter-in-law & how much more Anna is at ease now in front of the camera. I cringe when you have your tea-filled mugs next to the fabric but I'm very accident prone !!!! Love from the French Pyrenees. xxxx
Oh, yes, I was in such suspense waiting for her to move that tea! I couldn't concentrate on what was going on. Finally she moved it. She must have heard me gasping. I was thinking, Oh No, Anna's fabrics!. She often puts her tea right next to what she is doing, but I have never seen her spill it!
Thank you so much for taking your quilt out to the tree house --- what a delight to see if flutter in the breeze and listen to your lovely garden alive with bird songs!!! It must feel like you are in the Garden of Eden .... Thank you for sharing 😍
Kate, you made me giggle. I have never heard the phrase of "sewing fresh air" when your bobbin runs out. LOL. Love it. And Anna, it is a woman and a quilter's prerogative to change her mind. We all go through that quilting. I have so many UFO tops because I changed my mind. Happy quilting.
Thankyou Kate for everything you share with us, for your wonderful talents, for sharing your family and stories, for your beautiful home and garden. Thank you for the outings and thankyou for taking me home when I watch your videos. God bless you and your family. ❤
How lovely to see it hanging over the rail, with a gentle breeze.
You two ladies are busy bees with your work and progress on your quilts. How much fun that the two of you can share with each other a love of sewing quilt tops and the progress you make. How blessed to be able to do that. I envy you both. ❤
Women like you two are gold dust. With everything going on in the world right now it is life affirming and soothing and inspiring to see you being creative and calmly positive. Sanity!! ❤
I just have to pause this video and tell you how thoroughly I love you two and your videos. In a world of chaos and suffering and uncertainty you bring health and joy and strength of character. We need to remember that there is amazing good in the world as well and it’s ok to enjoy our lives. Doing positive creative things like quilting and knitting and cooking and gardening….laughing and loving each other. And thanking the Lord each day for another day to enjoy the abundance of His blessings.❤️
I actually watcherdTerry make her quilt back in 2022 and decided I wanted to make one, then watched you when you started and vowed in 2023 I would start mine and here it is December and I have yet to sew one block. So my goal is to make this quilt in 2024. Thank you for all the inspiration to get it done.
Kate and Anna I have enjoyed this series and I like that Anna laid next to her quilt! My dog loves to help out with the process too! Thank you so much for sharing your journey with us! Maybe if there are other leftover scraps can make pillow cases, something for your nightstand to set a lamp on or a wall hanging. Looking forward to seeing the finished quilts!
Dear Kate, you have a great vertical wall! - you can see what’s going with your patches or anything! Your design shows and you like it or not- Styrofoam for walls- wonderful with yr sewing right in front of yourself- thank Kate! Great with a Styrofoam!💕
Oh Kate, what a masterpiece!!!! And Anna’s quilt blocks turned out sooo, sew lovely!! 🧵🪡✂️💕
I love it when Frank makes it into video ❤
Anna is such a great partner. She matches your personality and she loves working with you. You are perfect together !
Thank you so much for this visit. I sat folding the laundry as I watched. I finished that chore, and had a lot more to watch........but all too soon it ended. Lovely watching the two of you quilt together..........passing on the passion. NICE. At one point, I clicked on the time to see how much was left in the video. OH MY........not much. I was wanting more. It's always such a nice pleasant visit sitting on the lime green sofa, one that I cherish and don't want it to end. Blessings Kate.........and thanks again for sharing your life with us.
The tree house! The birds song! The webbed quilt in the breeze! Oh my, so beautiful!
Just love watching you two workin, plotting together. I‘m now 69 but had also a wonderful relationship with my mother in law! She was a marvelous seamstress for custom made dresses.
Wonderful to see the Terry quilt top come together! And to see how well Anna is getting on with her quilt as well - it's been a lovely morning on the Lime Green Couch!
Anna and Kate, I had a mother in law who was tge same kind and generous teacher that Kate is for you.
It is really bringing tears to my eyes (happy tears) to watch you two. Cherish these moments as they are truly a gift❤
I laughed out loud when you said, "why did I start this". Anna and you make such a lovely team. I love that you both are soft spoken and so calm which makes me want to stay and watch the whole video. Thank you for such a nice visit.
I agree! A rockin’ team!
Oh my goodness! So many pieces of great tip for me to squirrel away. But the absolute game changer is the tip to sew a little scrap piece to the end to keep the thread on some fabric. So simple and yet SO profound! I love your channel.
Way to go Anna! I’m loving your quilt. It’s going to be lovely. I’m so glad you changed out the other half to the same fabric. It’s much better! And Kate your Terry Quilt is gorgeous! I loved it flowing in the breeze from the treehouse rail! ❤
Yes, it’s so lovely there!
Now you’ve got me wondering where on my property I could build my own treehouse!
Да! Чудесное покрывало 🤗. И ещё птички поют, 🤩😍💖
How exciting, especially for Anna. The first quilt will hold a piece of your heart. The "Terry" quilt looked so cool hanging from the tree house. A special relationship you have with each other. Just wonderful.
What a joyous video. How I would love to visit that tree house, to sit awhile, listen to the birdsong, and some of Kates favourite stories, and do a bit of handstitching..bliss! ❤❤❤
It's evening here in South African. It's relaxing watching the both of you. Always interesting in the way you chat. We drink a lot of rooibos tea around here. Thanks and be safe
Wonderful to see the webbing stage moving in the breeze.... thanks so much for doing that🥰❤👏🙏
It was a rather beautiful moment.😊🤗👍
I loved this too! I'd love to make a webbed door curtain that just hangs like that
That was beautiful.❤
@@Betsyboo1883aaaw, me too!😍😃
Love Anna's quilt and so enjoy your relationship with one another.....I get lonely .... but viewing this makes me feel like I'm there with you both ❤
Anna, you will always remember and cherish your first quilt. Mine is over 40 years old now, with the fabrics beginning to wear badly, but my hand stitches are still holding it all together. I hope that in 40 years time, your quilt will bring back great memories of your times stitching with Kate, who warms all our hearts!
Thanks to you both for a lovely and colourful Sunday afternoon!
Anna's first quilt is going to be perfect! Thank you for sharing the method of webbing for your quilt making, Kate! I have always wondered how to no loose track of the many squares and never imagined there's so much planning. Wow, look at this quilt! It's so, so, so beautiful!❤
Kate, your quilt is going to be BEAUTIFUL
Thank you! xxx
What a wonderful exciting happy video, I love to watch you both. The two quilts are beautiful and so colourful in their own right. I love Anna’s dress, she really suits the style, I wouldn’t mind one myself. Looking forward to seeing the final result. Thank you both and take care. xx. 💕xx. 🧵🪡
I enjoyed seeing you and Anna working together, My favorites.
Kate, I envy your relationship with Anna. True friends with John the common thread that binds you. Thanks for this video.
What a wonderful video! I agree with all the comments already here...i esp loved the quilt fluttering from the treehouse... i had the very same thought about making curtains like that! Congratulations, Anna, on getting to this stage on your very first quilt.... it is beautiful!!
❤this was a lovely video, I smiled when Kate measured her quilt by laying down and her “puppy” thought oh play time! Both quilts are going to be wonderful!! I love watching it sway in the breeze, a peaceful moment. Thank you for sharing 😊
The Terry Quilt…Wow, lovely! And Yay, Anna! It’s great to see a young person learning the joy (and challenges) of quilting.
Oh, I am going to have to try the webbing! Seems like it would not only make bringing the quilt together easier, but a little more substantial as well with leas clipped threads. I have a Terry color wash in progress, too!
Kate, I have also not mastered the ‘more’. I call it the too-much gene. LOL
Anna, I agree with Kate. You are utterly adorable and I have loved watching you fall in love with quilting.
Your relationship is wonderfully sweet. You really are a lovely family. Both of your quilts are just beautiful!
That 'colourwash' effect is wonderful. Have just watched Kate's hanging over the tree house railing.
I made a quilt for a friends very tall husband who was undergoing chemotherapy. I had my equally tall brother lie on the floor and his wife sent me the measurements. It was a perfect size. Love your videos
Anna your quilt is stunning. Your eye for color is impecable. Brilliant😊
Dear Anna and Kate, what an inspiration you both are. So much so that I've taken my sewing machine in to have it serviced, not having used it for several years and I can't wait to get it back. Thank you dear ladies for the inspiration; stay well.
Well, we’ve waited a long time for Anna’s quilt and it was worth the wait. I love it! About the webbing: I just made a large Irish Chain (I’m naming it “An Irish Lullaby”). Sewing the 81-patch scrap blocks using the webbing was great. Then I used the same method to sew the 25 18-inch blocks to each other-which was fine until it came time to press the whole 94-inch square quilt top. OMG, a MILLION seams and massively heavy quilt top. Ordinarily I would press rows as I did them; but with everything strung together, that was really hard. The good news is that out of 1000+ squares, I think I wound up with only two of the same fabric touching each other. The bad news is that this quilt top is just not as flat and neat as I would like. I intended to piece a backing so that the entire quilt would be from my stash. But in the end I ordered a wide backing just to get it DONE!!! So-I think this means “everything is a trade off”!!! Quilting is a joy but it requires some stamina!!! Thanks so much, Kate and Anna! This was a fun episode!
Thank you again for these lovely, peaceful videos. They make my Sundays sweeter. I loved seeing Anna checking her future quilt top for size. 😁 And wasn't Frank well behaved, bless him. Kate's color wash quilts are always beautiful .
I smile so much when I view your videos that my cheeks hurt! 🙂 It's a good thing, trust me. Color makes me bubble over with Joy, cannot image life without it. Thanks Kate and Anna, x's lj
As always I enjoyed watching your video Kate! In this one I particularly enjoyed watching Anna. She's such a sweet girl and there's a very relaxing aura surrounding her while she quilts in her home. Thank you both Kate and Anna! ❤
Anna, I love how you spoke of how the "funky colors 'sing'". I'm so tired of hearing quilters talk of colors that 'pop'. I think I'd rather have my quilt 'sing' any day! Blessings 💜🙏💜
Two,wonderful ladies, making two beautiful quilts! You made me smile and my heart is happy. Always great to see you on a Sunday on the Lime Green Sofa.❤ “Sewing fresh air” is something I will remember now, because it happens to me so often…😂😂😂
I love watching this quilt move in the breeze. ❤ I am not a big fan of scrappy quilts but Kate always has a way of putting them together so the colours flow from light to medium too dark and look beautiful.
Oh my Kate, that quilt is glorious! And Anna, yours is beautiful....you must be so pleased ! Well done ladies!
Lovely seeing Anna talking from her home. She is even prettier close up. You have an enviable MIL/DIL relationship.
Thanks Kate and Anna. It was good to watch the webbing process of both quilts. I think with Kate’s Terry quilt backing, I would make one large Terry block to cover the back. That way it wouldn’t need joining. Anyway, it will look magnificent, I’m sure.
87 looks at this but only 24 thumb ....i think the 63 dont have hands ?? ....sorry its a little thing but it helps Kate so much .....
I’m the 174 person to hit the like button 😮and over a thousand one hundred sixty some views likely the numbers have changed since I started writing. . I wonder if people think they have to pay to hit the like button?😢
Many people refuse to “like” to avoid the algorithms programming what they see, which is easier (ie more narrow) when you have a bunch of “likes.” 🤷🏼♀️. I do the opposite, so I keep seeing things I like. 😂
@@jamiethrogmorton2540 thank you for the explanation. When I find a RUclipsr I like I subscribe select to get all notifications and usually write comments and often read the comments other write and then write a comment for some , many also receive a personal 👍. Thank you for another great video. Love the idea of webbing. Both quilts oozing fabulous - love the vibrancy of yours Kate and well done Anna
Kate I am so pleased you joined my challenge and share with all the people on the lime green sofa. I love to see each and every one of their creations because they are so unique to each quilter. I will continue to follow you on your journey . Take care my quilting friend
I loved both of your quilts ladies. I totally loved when Kate’s quilt was hanging on the railing of the treehouse. I hate when I stitch fresh air😂😂😂 Thanks beautiful ladies for a wonderful video.
Absolutely love that quilt, Kate! Anna has a pretty one too.
A huge thank you for your wonderful tutorial. Your extra large quilt surely caught my attention Kate. It is pretty special to watch you and Anna get on with your projects. I now look forward to catching your next procedure in laying out the sandwiches. This is so much fun. Thank you from Auckland New Zealand.
Kate, I just found your channel a week ago, and you are so likeable! When I saw the name I knew we could be friends. I’m loving the style of your videos, the calming music, the honest, real-life footage, and of course the fun quilting, and gardening on your other channel. Hopefully I can be you in several years 😊
As another Terri, my ears were ringing the whole way through! 😂😊 I really love both quilt tops, but that webbing stage fluttering from the tree house was just beauty beyond compare! ❤
I'm eating breakfast in Southern California, enjoying the quilts and your sweet, quiet voices.
Have a blessed day! -Daphne Clarke
Hi, I am from South Africa and rooibos tea is the best - tasty and healthy. Love both your quilts and cannot wait to see the finished products.
It is the best isn't it?? I drink it every day! xxx
I just love how much you love Anna!!! I also have a great relationship with my daughter in laws !!!
Thanks Kate and Anna for a lovely Sunday visit. Both quilts will be beautifully delightful and have inspired me to get myself sewing this afternoon. I love the term "sewing fresh air" when the bobbin thread runs out! I'm sure I will be sewing fresh air sometime soon and must remember the term. ;)
I love both quilts. The Terry quilt looks so lovely on the treehouse.
Hello girls! Both of your quilts will brighten any room!! Be well and enjoy finishing up the quits!
Anna, it is so delightful to watch finish up your quilt. It's just beautiful. Kate I've watched you start with your first scraps to over 600 blocks. WOW‼️ Great job. Your friend from New Mexico, Carla 🎶💐💖
What a delightful video. I really love you putting the quilt in the tree house to see the wind blowing through the breeze. Love Anna colors.
Vielen Dank für eure kreativen Ideen mit den tollen Stoffen Gute Beschreibung der Arbeitsschritte, da hat man sofort Lust sich Stoffe zu kaufen und selbst anzufangen
I love you Kate. It's always so enjoyable spending time with you and your daughter-in-love Anna.
What comes to mind when I watch this video of Ann of Green Gables…. Your chemistry is so beautiful!!! I love seeing you both enjoying this craft!
Oh how beautiful the quilt top looked hanging from the tree house porch❤❤. Anna your quilt is coming along lovely.😊
So enjoyed this video. Anna is certainly 'coming along' with her quilting!
What a wonderful Vlog this one is! If you look at the quilt top while it’s on the treehouse, in this angle, you can see a red heart shape. There is love here and it shows ❤
I saw it too. ❤
Beautiful ladies, quilt tops and a wonderful relationship between you. I love watching and learning!
Anna’s design is just like the design I used for my granddaughter’s quilt 😊.
As you were sewing each block and showing how it looked as you chained pieced it, I thought that looks so beautiful it could be a flag blowing in the wind…and look at that …you show us. ❤️❤️❤️
Fabulous episode! Thank you all for making and sharing this lovely video!😊
Anna *is* utterly adorable!
What a wonderful relationship! Learning , and creating beautiful artsy tops! Talk about placement, between mother and son, Anna is bringing her desire, and taste into the mix, of family and love where they all blend together! What a beautiful site to behold,😊 all natural growth process! Yes! Thank for Sharing, yourselves and art with us! lis
Oh, how I loved this video (Thumbs up everyone) It was a sweet moment when Anna laid down next to her quilt - trying it out for size. ❤Anna, I've enjoyed watching your quilting skills and confidence increase in each video. Kate, your Terry Square quilt is lovely and I can't wait to see your finished product. Anxious to see what each of you choose for your backing. Thank you for another peaceful and loving video. Your channel has been such a lovely gift to many. Thank you.
Thank you for your video. This is lovely watching you sew together. My youngest daughter also quilts, so she and I get to share our talents with each other. It is truly a bond that grows. On another note, I have chain pierced block parts, but I haven't thought of chaining the whole quilt. That's a wonderful idea. ❤😂🧵📍✂️🪡
Absolutely loved the way Anna measured her quilt. Made me smile. Your Terry quilt is beautiful you have inspired me many, many times. Thank you so much 😊
Yeah, I did too-pretty sure I may have done similar! Anna-the trick is to keep in mind your height in inches. I’m 65”, so I know how much of me it will cover. We won’t discuss width… lol 😊😂
Beds are standard sizes, and the same applies to quilt sizes. That's the way it's done in Canada at least.....
@@evacourtemanche7408 yes, bedspreads & duvets are standard sizes (varies by country), but quilt patterns & certainly a quilt you’re piecing together without following a pattern someone else has made, depend on the person designing it.
I’m kind of surprised how many quilts/patterns wouldn’t fit a bed. I just think of quilts as something you use on a bed.
Thank you both for another wonderful video! I’m feeling a bit sorry for myself at the moment, as I had a fall last week, and have badly damaged my knee. Sitting quietly doesn’t come easily, so it’s been a real joy to have you both to distract me with you beautiful projects! I was particularly impressed by Frank keeping off the quilt arrangement when Anna had it laid out on the floor. Much as I appreciate ‘hairy help’, my experience is usually jobs being suspended as puss catches up with ‘beauty sleep’! I wouldn’t have it any other way though!
I so love visiting your home. Beautiful ladies doing beautiful quilts.
I bet Kaffe would love this!
I recently finished a kings sized Colour-wash quilt, following Terry Rowlands RUclips tutorials. All the material was from scraps, mine and friends. It was a joy to make. I really enjoyed watching your quilt grow Kate. Thank you.
Kate, you changed my life...
Love Kate's phrase. If the bobbin runs out, you'll be "sewing fresh air." Mind if we use that phrase, Kate? ❤
Thank you Kate and Anna you are so lovely!! I had to go and make tea to have while watching you. I must say I love the huge fireplace at Anna's house and hanging your quilt at the tree house was awesome! You have a new fan across the pond in Canada. Thank you for sharing your wonderful process of how you think things out and for the webbing tutorial I had not ever seen that one and will be able to use it in a stash busting quilt that I am going to be making!
“Stitching fresh air”; another Kate-ism I love!❤
So beautiful, the quilts, and soothing for my soul to watch your video’s, thank you Kate ❤
I'm sooo glad to hear you drink our South African ROOIBOS tea. You can drink it cold and warm.
I'm from the Western Cape not far from Clanwilliam where the rooibos tea are came from.
I love your video's and I learn a lot from you.
Best Regards

Such a great shot of the quilt on the summer house balcony. and Anna ... you look mint in that great little dress.
I just made my first quilt top thanks to seeing your lovely channel. What a blessing to discover a new passion that leads to endless joy. Thank you! ❤
The quilt tops are beautiful, you two are wonderful team. See you next time
Very beautiful quilt Kate😊 I'm sure it took some time but well worth it. If you put a small cutting mat on the left side of your sewing machine table your quilt will stay up on it while you sew your quilt top without it sliding off. 😉
