    Great explanation. I've no design wall or floor space that big (living in a typical small English semi detached house), but your method is adaptable. You've given me idea for EEP shapes I'm gradually gathering. I'd a bit of an idea of moving from hue to hue but think I've now got a better grasp on how to do it.
    I've not got a volume of scraps as not been quilting very long but I like how your blocks are made and put together. I came to you via Pat Sloan, I'm glad I did. Thank you

    Kate at the Last Homely House also directed me to your channel. I love what you're doing. In examining your beautiful quilt I noticed the way the colors seemed to reflect light and shadow in interesting ways. So, for example, it reminded me of a big city as the sun was rising or setting. Some buildings would be lit sooner (or later) than others. Some windows were lit and others were dark. It gives my brain a lot to think about! I am retiring at the end of the year and I will have more time to devote to my quilting. I will look forward to making a quilt along these lines. Thank you for generously sharing your ideas and methods! Keep making videos! You do a great job and I expect you have much more to share...

    So many good tips! Thank you!! I don’t have a big design wall either. I put jigsaw puzzles together on a large piece of felt, that I roll up, to get it out of the way when I’m working on it. I never thought to do that for laying out my quilts. Fabulous idea! Love the layout of the new quilt. Tfs!

I've been English paper pattern, hand quilting since 1972 and it was only during COVID lockdown here in Australia, that I took to the sewing machine to piece together my very first scrap fabric quilt - out of frustration! Wonderful tips! When you sewed them together, did you do sets of 16 in a block?

    Terry, I’ve started my Scrap Color wash quilt and I’m curious, approximately how many blocks does it take to make the sized quilts you are showing us?

    • @terryrowland398
      @terryrowland398  Год назад

      I made about 700 blocks that finish at 3”

      @@katrinaallen3266 I am working on mine right now and will have about 950 blocks. I will need about 840 for the queen quilt but wanted to give myself some buffer, so I can play a bit within each color if some don't want work as well with their neighbours. I figure I will use the extra to put together a couple of pillow shams to use with the quilt.
