    Terry, this technique is brilliant; I am also a selvedge collector for weaving rag rugs. Thank you for sharing your skills.

    What a good idea. Using every little piece of leftover scrap fabric for something is so much better then it ending up in landfills. Materials take a very long time to break down and believe it or not create a great deal of methane in the process. Besides I think the using of salvages is inspired and very interesting to look at.

    Great video! I like that you showed how to make the words go the right way on each side of the bag. I also found it useful to see how to add two short pieces together.

    Very cool. I've been wanting to do something similar with zipper cut offs as well. Whenever I shorten a zipper, I'll save the scraps.

    Dear Terry, what a wonderful video. Though I know how to sew with selvages in theory, I got some interesting and helpful tips here. Thanks a lot for that! 😉 I also noticed in the last minutes of the video that you are sewing on a Singer Featherweight. Such a charming little machine. Would love to own one some day as well 😍 Regards from Germany Stephanie

    I love selvedges too. I make my fabric by sewing the selvedges onto a light interfacing - the one I use has grid marks on it so I can keep it straight. You do have to line them up so there are no gaps, which is a disadvantage compared to this method. I like making it so that you get rows of the ‘fluffy’ edges of the fabric - it adds texture. I’ve made a book cover with mine - I love it, and it is great to see this tutorial too. X

    I am intrigued by using salvage. I’ve watched all three episodes so far and I like the idea and look of it. What a fun way to utilize fabric scrap especially considering how expensive it all is. So now I can’t help but wonder if I can purchase remanent salvage anywhere.?

    This is really interesting, so much selvage fabric is wasted and some of them are really pretty now. The quilt behind you is gorgeous. I’d love to know what the pattern is called? Did you design it?

    Hello Terry, could i use a muslin cloth for the background? Is that heavy enough?

    • @terryrowland398
      @terryrowland398  Год назад

      You can use muslin but it is not heavy I would put a piece of batting on the muslin then it would be a good weight for bags

    At what point do you cut off your salvage edges?

    • @terryrowland398
      @terryrowland398  6 месяцев назад

      That is a question If I am using yardage from and I know I will be cutting 1/2 yard and putting the rest in my stash I will cut 1 1/2” from the printed side before I cut my strips I will be using . I fold it out of the way and fold it into fabric until I use all the yardage. I like long pieces so try and figure out a way to achieve that.
