BRILLIANT idea & Super Cute! It acts as a sort of catalog of fabrics, Dual Purpose. Sometimes when I love a fabric I love I keep the Selvage edge with that fabric's info so I can reorder.
That’s a good idea, however, it only works if your fabric doesn’t sell out or is a basic that’s on re-order. That’s the sad part about quilting, fabrics going out of print.👍🏼♥️🐥
Oh my! I love this idea... hmmm, I wonder how many yards of selvage that I have thrown away over the years. Well, won't do that any more. Thanks you for sharing your tips and the free pattern. Blessings to y'all.
Sashing first choice. Maybe can float blocks on the back!!! Maybe around your label... & certainly make 1 or 2 pillows ....then a tote bag for dry goods @ grocery store.... Maybe the back & inside back on a project bag... great ideas for keeper quilt blocks!!!
I like the yellow in between and being born in Açores-Portugal my favorite savage piece is you know it ( a little piece of Portugal. )but 🇺🇸 is my Country and very proud to be a American 👍😊
Hello Sister Chich👋. Good to meet you🤗. I have not come across many selvages, as I have not bought many fabrics. I shall keep your ideas in mind, when I start to purchase numerous fabrics☺️. Regards to you🙏
Love the block. Have seen selvedge projects for years and this is the cutest. I would float them all in white so each one stands out for what it is and tie it together with a colourful border. I would also not make a bed quilt out or throw of them because they are so interesting. 6-9 blocks in a wall hanging for a sewing room. Might even follow a colour wheel flow. I could even see embellished-embroidered needle and thread winding in between them on completed top prior to quilting. Lovely project! As you said, these selvedges are to be admired and appreciated for what they are. I would not draw attention away from them.
Love! Love! Love! I would put rows of sashing across to suggest shelves. On the top shelves all the spools are evenly spaced, nice and neat. Then the bottom shelves are Hazel's arrangement, some scooted close together, a couple knocked over on the side, just the way she would sort them.
And that’s how I finished the quilt, with sashing. I’m entering in a judged quilt show in September. It’s a first for me, I’m a a little bit nervous. Thanks for loving my spools 🧵 and watching my videos 😍‼️
@Conquering Mount Scrapmore, funny I should see you here, I was just watching some of your videos yesterday & truly loved them. But I'm here for Selvadge (sp) Sewing !! Loved your video & hope to make at least a few of those Spool Blocks. Thanks for the link to the pattern & love them by themselves !! 1st timer here !! Happy V Day 💖
Love the spools butt use the yellow fabrics. You have lots of left overs so make both. One can be a small quilt and the plain spool a wall hanging to give to your granddaughter who put on design wall.
I love your comment 😍❣️ You’re right, there can’t be too many. I’m going to use the sashing on my quilt, however, I plan several minis without sashing. My favorite will hang in the sewing room and quilty friends will get the others. Thanks for watching and ❤️ing my videos❣️
A low volume white would give you separation, but not take away from each unique spool. This is exactly what I have been waiting for! I've collected selvedges for a few years now, but other than a pin cushion haven't seen anything that made me excited to use them. This it! And my first time watching your video....I believe that's what I will be listening to in my sewing room today...more Sister Chicks Quilting episodes! Thank you for the pattern link!
I love this idea. in the past I thought keeping selvages was silly. Now I want to go and cut all of my fabric. I 'm thinking I would make different size spools and play with the design. I could make wall hangings for my sewing friends. (Great another project or my list. LOL)
Have never heard of selvage quilting I have been throwing mine away, not now going to start another scrap box just for salvages thank you for showing us this grand way of not wasting
It’s finished and going in a quilt show in September. However, I have several leftover 🧵blocks and am going to make a small one, 4 spools, for a mini wall quilt with no sashing. I have saved my very favorite selvedges for that one. Thank you for watching and commenting on my channel 😊‼️
I’m a little late to the party but such a cute idea. I’m definitely going to make this. I have been saving my salvages forever. Yea. I got tons. This is brilliant. Thank you for sharing!
Because you’ve missed out on all those selvedges?😂? They add up fast, especially if you ask your friends to save for you. Just don’t show them the quilt😂😜😂 Thank you for watching my videos, I appreciate you 😍❣️
You bet Anita. They are fun to work with. In about 2012 a designer from Australia I believe, made an entire dress from selvedge. I saw it at quilt market. They’re fun in just about everything ‼️
Loved your video with spools! I like the spools sitting on something, looks like a shelf or spool rack. Not floating or framed, white between spools and darker color beneath the spools. Looks great which way your choose!! Recently found your channel.. very fun sewing ideas. Thanks, LE

That Quilt is Amazing!! & I love the chickens on the border! I'm a beginner, but now I know what I'd like to do with selvages! & that zipper bag is adorable too!!! Thank you so much for sharing!
I may have misunderstood your comments. If so I wish to clarify. The chicken border is the border on the design wall quilt. I am so glad that I found your channel….you have a wonderful way of teaching and great sewing tips…….thank you!🌺 I prefer the floating blocks, I think it showcases the differences of the spool colors.

I gave away all my selvages, but I’m going to start saving them again! (It won’t take long to get more!) I love this spool block! Thank you! Your tutorials are very clear and easy to follow.
I love the idea of the sashing, but I would probably do black or dark grey so it would make all the blocks with those beautiful colors shine. I absolutely love the blocks. I am saving my Selvidge’s but none as cute as these and I love the ones with little sayings on them. 😍❤️❤️
I know that I am too late to vote, but I want to tell you that I don't typically like fabrics with sewing tools printed on them.
