You are an excellent teacher, Terry. I appreciate all of your helpful tips & tricks, and look forward to using them all!! I'm watching these tutorials with the intention of assissting my lifelong friend who is recovering from an illness that has made it difficult to pursue her beloved quilting hobby. I was my 7th grade Home Ec teacher's worst nightmare, but my sewing skills have improved, and I believe I can lend my dear, scrappy friend a hand with a beautiful project such as this.🥰
I am absolutely loving the way you put together your blocks using the tube and the tablecloth and then just so he knows you go with it right here at your side. Totally totally makes sense. Thank you for that.
Thank you for this video series! I love your colorwash quilts, and you do an excellent job of explaining your methods to make it easier and more fun to put together.

Well, Terry, that is so darned smart, huh?! Love your work. Kate, with the Last Homely House said you were good and as expected, she was right. Thank you so much for sharing your wisdom. ❤
I’ve watched all 3 of your color wash videos several times. I absolutely love your colors & have never been so excited to start a quilt. I sorted my scraps into diff color categories & decided to start by making 20 blocks from ea group just to keep it fun. I h/b making 20 blocks ea day & in 5 days have 100 beautiful blocks & counting. I’m on my way! ❤
Thanks Terry. I forgot to mention I am using all Kaffe Fasset fabric so it w/b colorful. I am also working on my 1st temperature quilt for this year but using 2 solid fabric triangles (high & low for the day) to form a 4” block so it’s much quicker but also very fun. And lastly, I am machine quilting a beautiful blue & white quilt as a Christmas gift for my sister. At 75 I have to pace myself to preserve my hands somewhat! 😬 Happy quilting!
I finished my color wash quilt & machine quilted in the double bubble pattern. I followed your suggestion & nested the blocks & sewed the rows using your technique of webbing them together & that made it so much easier. It is my most beautiful quilt to date & I h/b quilting for years. Thank you for a great serIes of tutorials. Kate from “The Last Homely House” gave you a shout out on her channel when she made hers. So much fun to share ideas & patterns. Thank you & happy quilting. ❤️

Webbing the quilt in this way saves lots of time ironing. For a project like this I would have to set a timer to get up and stretch a bit b/c there wouldn’t be trips to the iron :) Excellent video. Thank you.
Thank you for sharing your technique for the scrappy colorwash quilt. I was encouraged to watch you from another RUclips channel. Kate @thelasthomleyhouse talked about your amazing idea for using up all of our scraps. I will say I LOVE colorwash quilts. The one Kate made for her granddaughter doing EPP hexies has now gotten me totally addicted to EPP and colorwash. I am always encouraged by quilters who have done them. It gives me the encouragement that I too can do it. Thank you again. Laura, Kentucky USA.

Thank you for the inspirational tutoriels. I am watching them for the third time and still learning! Can’t wait to start playing with my scraps. By far the best videos on how to use them
I like that you don't cut the threads between the blocks. It's a great idea. It makes for a stronger quilt. It's less likely for seams to come apart. The webbing/netting technique is smart. Your blocks stay in order. The stay stitching around the outside of the quilt also helps to keep it all together. I am going to use these techniques in my quilts and other projects.
Found out about webbing through Bonnie Hunter, had to read the explanation maybe three times and watch her demo it two times until I finally "got" it. Now it is the only way I join blocks. Even figured out a way to web on-the-diagonal quilts. I do use painters tape to label each row, in order that I can pull all the blocks off the design wall. Sometimes I break down the quilt into quadrants and web each quadrant, depending on the quilt, some quilts with bigger blocks(too much space btw the threads holding the blocks together) catch on the edge of the table when sewing. Love this quilt. You are a good teacher, very calm demeanor, quite relaxing and informative to watch. So glad I found your channel, thanks to Kate from The Last Homely House.
Thank you for the feed back I always wonder when I am rambling basically to myself if I am actually explaining it well enough for others to get what I am talking about thanks again enjoy your journey through your scraps

Thank you for your previous answer. Now I understand weaving! I haven’t quilted for so e time, but your videos are so clear and your quilts so beautiful, I will be sorting out my fabric scraps to make a start. I hope ican find one of those felt backed tableclothes in NZ, great idea. ❤

Oh Terry what a blessing you are. Great series of videos, I am going to sit and go through my scraps of an evening when I finish work ready for a sewing day on Saturday. Thank you once again, great teacher, very informative
Thank you for these videos and tips! I've been quilting and watching quilting videos for 5 years, and this is the first time I've seen 'quilt webbing' and the first time I've heard of stay-stitching the quilt top. Your design wall is so practical and solves my concern about a tablecloth not being big enough. I never thought to join two. I have pets and kids who walk straight over my design floor, so I will be adopting this idea ASAP!
Thank you Terry, hubby and I are travelling around Australia in our rv, I had packed a lot of my scraps and machine, not knowing what I’d sew, but I knew I wanted to sew on the road. We’ll I found your channel and knew this was the pattern for me, I’m doing 4 1/2” blocks, only started 2 days ago and having fun sorting and sewing, and dropped into a quilt shop in Queensland and picked up small cuts of different colours. Again, thank you.🇦🇺
Thank you,Terry. I watched all three of your color wash quilt videos. Brilliant idea for the webbing technique 👍 So many good tips for a successful color wash quilt, can’t wait to try it 🍂🧡🍁👏
Thank you so much for sharing your techniques with this type of quilt and demonstrating sewing on your tiny little table! I have a very small space in which to work and don't even have a table (I have to set up an ironing board, put my machine on that and sew on it) so It's kind of nice to see how other people assemble large quilt tops on small surfaces. I also love how you roll up your tablecloth design "wall" and then unroll as you go. I like to challenge myself to do some kind of weekly exercise for a whole year that pushes my boundaries and I think this will be an awesome project to do - 20 columns by 25 rows = 250 blocks. 10 blocks per week is totally something I can pull off! Also a great way to pare down the old scrap pile 😊
Your scrap pile will grow as you fluff it jut saying … I am pleased I was able to inspire you I also have a table I like to put my sewing machine on it is from Costco it is approx 16” x 24” and has a X leg system on it and is adjustable if you send me a message on messanger on either FB or Instagram I can send you a picture FB Terry Rowland T Row Studios Instagram Trowstudios
@@terryrowland398 Thanks, I've seen those tables at Costco and Walmart and I'd thought about getting one a few years ago, but my space is so small I don't have room for that plus the ironing board (even with everything folded up). Since the ironing board is good for pressing as well as a surface on which to put my cutting mat and sewing machine, that's my best option for sewing surface (at least until I get a bigger space in which to work 😉)
Thank you for this fantastic video! Love the colours and I’m a kaffee fan. Exactly what I would love to make. Your tutorial is so helpful and lovely to watch 🙏
I have been stuck, no creative urges, this is exciting and may be the very thing to pull me back to my delicious scraps. Thank you! Watching all of your videos now.
My husband and I are going to make this together. He is a 5x stroke survivor and is enjoying working his affected side to the best of his abilities. Your instructions are so detailed and the colors are fantastic. Thank you for sharing your talent!!
It is a fun low stress sew Nicola I hope you and your husband enjoy the journey together have fun and share yours with me when you have something to show
Use basket weave to use your blocks either without bumpy sidesteams- when sewing, roll out 2 and then put blocks on the piles- which is first- same with 2nd- short your stitch length- making shorter to 1.8 - not 2- Put1 and 2 sew- then 3 rolls- then sew
So excited! I have nine (9) 3&1/2" blocks left to piece and will get started on laying out a Queen size quilt today!!!! Woo hoo! (Almost stayed up late to complete the blocks and start the lay-out, but thought, I've worked to hard on this not to be fresh and have the whole day in front of me to enjoy the lay-out!) Sometimes, one's gotta discipline themselves in quilting!
@@terryrowland398 Update! Aunti Missi & Aunti Heather are going to become part of the entourage of the lay-out assembly! I've sent Video 2 of this series for them to review in order to see the layout process! I'm so excited! I'll keep you updated!
@@eleanorwittering3126 enjoy the process but do not over think it once in a while step back and look from a distance if something is out of place it will show up in a photo or by stepping back

Thank you. I could not grasp webbing before this visual and I have been quilting more than 30 years! Maybe that’s the problem, too set in my techniques.
Being a traditional quilter sometimes limits us from trying different techniques Georgia spread your wings on a small project and see if it something that will work for you
I LOVE this quilt. Such a stress free design to use scraps. I don’t have enough scraps to make a quilt like this, but have some panels and coordinating fabrics that I had originally purchased to make a kaleidoscope quilt. I’m now to use those fabrics to make a colour wash quilt instead. I also think that this design would be perfect for a temperature quilt! Thank you for sharing your design and techniques! I look forward to following your channel! Stay well! Muskoka ON 🇨🇦
just browsing through and came across you channel. I use the glannel back tablecloth in the same way. I can also put these quilts in a large tote for storage (temporarily) but another thing is this makes it easy to carry to a retreat. Have also carried this to a friend's house to get another set of eyes if i want. Grommets placed just so make it easy to attache to another friend's design wall. i have currently 3 quilt tops put aside to get to later.
Yes I have several rolled also for sewing together or on going projects that need to be layed out for designing purposes I love the grommet idea then I could take to a retreat and up up on the wall with command strips
Thank you so much. When I’m putting small blocks together I ALWAYS get confused as to which one goes where and what direction. This was so helpful. Watching from Texas.
Love the webbing technique, learned from Bonnie Hunter and use it for all size blocks when possible . Thank you for the video, also found you from Kate and am binge watching your videos.
I’ve seen webbing demonstrated before but your explanation nailed it for me. I tried it on a small 16 patch block to get the hang of it and it does help keep things lined up. Thanks.
Thank you for giving me the name of and showing me the Webbing technique for sewing my quilt together. I have done it and seen it done on the individual 9-patch blocks but rarely on the entire quilt top. I just tried it on a quilt and discovered a couple of drawbacks to it. I ended up twisting the sashing row at the beginning, a very easy fix. The second drawback was the struggle it would be to de-fur the back of the entire quilt before sewing the rows together and the pressing of the seams in the proper directions. I solved this by cutting one row & sashing (still webbed together) from the quilt, de-furring the back of both rows. sewing them together and pressing the seams in the desired directions.
Never heard of webbing a quilt - what a great method - looking forward to making one of these scrap quilts. Thanks for mentioning to shorten the stitch length when sewing smaller bits like in this quilt. And great tip at the end for the stay stitch to lock the seams together!
I just started mine but I have a flying geese quilt laid out on my design "floor." (No pets) I had thought of sewing those geese together with colour wash leaders and enders but now will do your webbing technique. Years ago I learned about stay stitching the outer edge and still do it when there is no outer border. Thanks Terry!!
The webbing isn't working for the flying geese as they are laid out in rainbow colours with each row going in the opposite direction. I gave it a good shot though.
I seen this "webbing" technique before, some years ago now, but no one referred to it as webbing. It is great for keeping blocks in order. Your explanation was very clear with good tips.
I absolutely love this quilt! I found your site looking for a temperature quilt. That will be my next one and then a colorwash. Great demonstration of weaving. Had not seen that before and wondered how to keep my blocks straight without having to take photos or go back to design board. Thank you!

Thank you! Very good advice.
Use basket weave to use your blocks either without bumpy sidesteams- when sewing, roll out 2 and then put blocks on the piles- which is first- same with 2nd- short your stitch length- making shorter to 1.8 - not 2-
Put1 and 2 sew- then 3 rolls- then sew
So excited! I have nine (9) 3&1/2" blocks left to piece and will get started on laying out a Queen size quilt today!!!! Woo hoo!
(Almost stayed up late to complete the blocks and start the lay-out, but thought, I've worked to hard on this not to be fresh and have the whole day in front of me to enjoy the lay-out!)
Sometimes, one's gotta discipline themselves in quilting!
Oh how exciting Elenor This is such a fun project and I have not seen. Colorwash I do not love please share a picture with me when you do it
@@terryrowland398 Update! Aunti Missi & Aunti Heather are going to become part of the entourage of the lay-out assembly! I've sent Video 2 of this series for them to review in order to see the layout process! I'm so excited!
I'll keep you updated!
@@eleanorwittering3126 enjoy the process but do not over think it once in a while step back and look from a distance if something is out of place it will show up in a photo or by stepping back
@@terryrowland398 I am thinking of it like an art class on hand painting with kids… I’m just gonna let them go with their flow… With a little help from their aunties!
@@eleanorwittering3126 oh how fun will this be
Terry. I just love this color wash so much, I have decided to make this for curtains in my sewing room. I have a long way to go. 😂
Excellent videos. You made it so easy and informative.
I love to hear that. Enjoy your journey through your scraps
Thank you. I could not grasp webbing before this visual and I have been quilting more than 30 years! Maybe that’s the problem, too set in my techniques.
Being a traditional quilter sometimes limits us from trying different techniques Georgia spread your wings on a small project and see if it something that will work for you
So many great tips … thank you for sharing 😊
You are welcome Terri
What a lovely concept for scraps. The color wash is gorgeous. Thank you for the great videos.
You are very welcome
Love your information and videos! Many Thanks to you and Kate at The Last Homely House for introducing you to me🤗
I LOVE this quilt.
Stay well!

I love your colour wash quilts.I may have to try it.
Please join in they are fun
Kate sent me over to watch the color wash quilt tutorial, to use my little bits and pieces. Thank you for color wash
just browsing through and came across you channel.
Just tried webbing the first time and it went pretty well! Thank you!
You are welcome
Thank you so much. When I’m putting small blocks together I ALWAYS get confused as to which one goes where and what direction. This was so helpful. Watching from Texas.
Love the webbing technique, learned from Bonnie Hunter and use it for all size blocks when possible . Thank you for the video, also found you from Kate and am binge watching your videos.
Thankyou so much for your tips and you´re explaining is so good that it makes me think maby I can do this😀🤗
Wow webbing your quilt...this will save me so much time with my seam ripper! Thank you Terry...awesome video!
Thanks Carolyn
I’ve seen webbing demonstrated before but your explanation nailed it for me. I tried it on a small 16 patch block to get the hang of it and it does help keep things lined up. Thanks.
I am pleased it makes sense Fran
Thanks to share your organisation 💕 it’s veryyyy good and I love it 😻
Thanks Cat
It is not for everybody I have a special way to add sashing to my blocks maybe I will add that to my future videos
Glorious quilt and astonishing web talent. Bravo.
Thanks for sharing this wonderful piecing method. I love the quilt. 😀
Thanks Margaret it is such a fun sew
Great videos! I’ve just discovered you from Agile Jack’s blog. I’ve learned a lot and will start out small to try this.
Oh my gosh. I LOVE your webbing technique. What an innovative idea. Can't wait to do it with my next quilt. ❤
I am happy you found me and let me know how the webbing works for you
Smart chain piecing! Thank you very much for this video!
Enjoying your videos.
Never knew there was a name “webbing for that process. Thanks
I’m seriously enjoying this
Awesome Yvonne enjoying enough to make one yourself
Never heard of webbing a quilt - what a great method - looking forward to making one of these scrap quilts. Thanks for mentioning to shorten the stitch length when sewing smaller bits like in this quilt. And great tip at the end for the stay stitch to lock the seams together!
The little things make a difference and I do that all the time automatically. I am happy my little tips can help somebody else
Awesome
I absolutely love this quilt! I found your site looking for a temperature quilt. That will be my next one and then a colorwash. Great demonstration of weaving. Had not seen that before and wondered how to keep my blocks straight without having to take photos or go back to design board. Thank you!
We can always learn something new enjoy your journey through your scraps
So so helpful and clear, thank you🌹
Lady you are a super teacher❤
Thank you for that I enjoy sharing my love of quilting with others
I just finished watching all 3 of videos on color wash quilts they are fabulous!! There is so much good information in the series that I will give be following your method to give this a try. Thank you. :)
Webbing a quilt looks incredible. Your sewing table looks too small. Love your tutorial. Thank you. Beautifully demonstrated
This is my travel machine and table I use because I can adjust the height so I can sew for hours
Aaahhhh I can understand that. You handle that bulk so easily on that small surface. Again I’m very thrilled to have found your RUclips. Thank you for sharing
Thank you Terry I am go to try to use up some of my loads of craps. I love this idea. 🙂
Excellent I am pleased I have inspired you to use your scraps
Love this and we all have plenty of scraps.
Great way to attach each row. Need to watch next one to see how you finish. I like QAYG so when I try this quilt will probably sew in group of 9 blocks quilt the block then finish as they are done. Thank you. Your instruction is very good
Terry, your channel was recommended by Kate at The Last Homely House. I’m thrilled to see your tips and techniques; so efficient and organized and very much appreciated. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge and ideas that you have undoubtedly developed over many years of stitching. Well done!
