Good Morning Kate I needed to make something else with these insanely easy fun and addictive blocks …Keep going on your blocks I can.t wait to see your put together. I joined the lime green sofa on FB yesterday and had a lovely time visiting with all of your friends
Hi Kate, thank you for leading me to Terry’s channel. I’ve been a subscriber and a Patron of yours for several years and love your content very much 😘❤️❤️❤️
Hi … I didn’t even know that a temperature quilt was a thing. Then I went down a rabbit hole and discovered yours. I am always so literal. Thank you for deciding to make your quilt a 2022 quilt in 2023 so that you can just get it done. I decided to do something similar, but choose a year that means something to me. This is going to be so much fun. I also live in Canada … and like that the temperatures are varied enough to make a really colourful quilt.
❤❤❤ thank you soo much Terry . I am so grateful for this tutorial. I absolutely love that you have made it simple enough for us beginner quilters. It’s so easy to understand, and you teach us all the tips and great plans and organizing techniques to help us understand and to be able to accomplish a beautiful quilt without becoming confused or overwhelmed. Thank you. ❤
I absolutely LOVE THIS QUILT! I have never made a quilt yet. Just cherished each quilt I have received from my grandmother, mother, and aunts. Now that they are no longer with us I have decided to learn to become a quilter. The past couple of years I have been listening to the quilting tutorials made by a few of my favourite quilting channels. I have 3 baby quilts I want to make, one king size quilt, and some quilts for my loved one's for Christmas. One day, I would love to make this quilt as a queen size wall hanging for myself! ❤❤❤ Thank you for sharing your amazing artistry!
I've seen pictures of quilts like this, but had no idea they're called Temperature quilts. I love the idea. I live in London, UK. We dont have such extreme temperature changes like you do, so it would be interesting to make one for a UK Temperature quilt 😊
By far my favorite video so far on temperature quilt! I'm thinking that I will start mine from June '23 through June '24 for my daughter and son in law's first year together.
So here’s how my “temperature quilt” is wiki g out in real life…I am calling my version weather window bc I am strictly delving I to the scrap bin so the colors are loosely assigned…it would confound someone trying to find an exact record of temps but it makes an interesting transition of colors and textures….really enjoying and I guess it’s sort of a hybrid between color wash and temp….but fun…and I plan to put wonky stars on the days of family birthdays

Terry, this is brilliant! I’ve been wanting to make both your scrappy color wash quilt and a temperature quilt. Now I can combine them in one quilt! Thanks for the inspiration! I have enjoyed all of your videos.
Wonderful variation of the temp quilt! Having to wait for each day’s temperatures would make me crazy. So glad you came up with the idea of using historical data I’m thinking I might use my birth year or another year that was important in my life. Will have to see what historical data I can find.
You can usually find historical data on the weather sites on the internet I used Government of Canada Climate weather site and looked for the Past weather and climate ,some site call it historical data then put in your location and the dates you want to search I searched the whole year by month
In the late fall I made a quilt in your way of using scraps, with the contrasting colour in the centre, as you've done with your temperature quilt. I wanted to use a lot of scraps, so I didn't go for colour wash, but I enjoyed it and like the result. Thanks for this great scrappy idea. Glad to see that Kate @thelasthomelyhouse is slowly gathering her scraps too.
I love this idea. Still early enough for 2023 to keep up😂. It will be interesting for me since I’m in Texas and temps can vary a lot one day to the next.
I hope it is spinning in a good way Donna …I do a lot of my best designing in my sleep lol. I love unique projects so yes I do a lot of thinking before I jump into a project. Is this something you think you will do?
@@terryrowland398 Hi Terry, before I start a design like this I’d have to finish the colour wash quilt I started. I’ve been a little undisciplined and need to commit to a number of blocks every day. I was thinking of your temperature quilt as a part of quilt history. It shows our obsession with climate at this time on earth and, if you could, would over a five year period show climate variation over time. I’ve often thought about designing a quilt which represents a particular meteorological moment in time. Our Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) depicts climate events in such a colourful way it’s crying out for a quilt. However, like lots of other ideas it remains in my dreams. Thanks for the inspiration .
Terry, you have totally inspired me to make one of these quilts, except, I am going to make a 2023 quilt - make the blocks as the year goes on. It will help me tune in more closely to the weather.
Finished piecing the last block of my colorwash quilt last evening--it is 23x25 blocks (4.5" square blocks). I made many "extra" blocks because all that delicious color was so tempting. Thank you, Terry for the fabulous videos and ideas...and thank you, Kate for introducing those on the LGS to Terry.
Great job Terry. I am sewing a temp with little house blocks (my own design) house is the highs and door are the lows). I chose 20 different colored fabrics. Highs are in the 90’s and lows, mostly between 10 and 20 degrees. It has been very fun. I’ve sewed Jan thru Mar. enjoying your colored blocks
This would be fun, to create this using your own birthyear instead of the current year! Or for a gift for a birthday...to use THEIR birth year to make it!
I had been somewhat interested in this concept but was afraid boredom might set in and if dug…another UFO but this makes perfect sense…no need to obtain new fabric…also gives some variations and keep up interest. Fortunately I have my scrappy stash color segregated recently so here we go…thanks so much for the inspirational push😄

I have never heard of, or viewed, a quilt like this. This looks like fun. I wonder if I could get a list of the highs and lows for last year (for my area of the country)? The quilt behind you brought back memories of my one and only night in Chicago (when I was 15 years old). It was colorful, beautiful, interesting, noisy, and very scary. I could cheat and just make it all up.
There are lots of weather pages on the internet I used accuweather once there you can plug in your location and you can search for different dates I did a history search for 2022
I LOVE this idea to use scrappy fabrics. On your color key, is that just to give a general idea of the color family to guide you in selecting the variety of fabrics for each temperature range? What color did you use for the break between months? Was it just a solid block? It appears that the centers are random in size and placement is that correct? I’ve been wanting to make one of these for several years now. I’ve started charting some colors and temps. Our temps are similar in spring and fall but I wanted to use different colors to represent the colors of the season. This has helped me figure out how to do it. Thanks.

@@terryrowland398 is that the sort of binding method where you use a big needle or pin and pull the fabric under it for quick and easy folding and pressing? I bet it is. I love that method.

@@terryrowland398 is that the sort of binding method where you use a big needle or pin and pull the fabric under it for quick and easy folding and pressing? I bet it is. I love that method.
@@renel7303 yes it is but I make it on a fabric covered board so I do not have to poke holes in my ironing board
My friend is doing her birth year.
Yes I plan on doing that also
Where can you get the temperatures for the year you are interested in? I would also like to do my birth year,,or maybe for my husband, but have no idea where to find the data…..any hints?
@@isewalot1234 this link is where I found mine but most weather sites on the internet you can find the temps by date in the history section Terry Rowland - T Row Studios , here is the link I use to keep track of my temperatures… climate.weather.gc.ca/climate_data/daily_data_e.html?hlyRange=2015-05-23%7C2022-01-08&dlyRange=2018-05-14%7C2022-01-08&mlyRange=%7C&StationID=53718&Prov=AB&urlExtension=_e.html&searchType=stnProx&optLimit=specDate&Month=1&Day=1&StartYear=2022&EndYear=2022&Year=2022&selRowPerPage=25&Line=1&txtRadius=25&optProxType=city&selCity=53%7C33%7C113%7C30%7CEdmonton&selPark=&txtCentralLatDeg=&txtCentralLatMin=0&txtCentralLatSec=0&txtCentralLongDeg=&txtCentralLongMin=0&txtCentralLongSec=0&txtLatDecDeg=&txtLongDecDeg=&timeframe=2&time=LST 😁🧵
