I just have to add…Anna, I think you’ve done a fabulous job on your first quilt. Confidence will come as you do more. There’s nothing wrong with this quilt. If you know of any trouble spots or anything you struggled with, you’re the only one who does. It is lovely! You can be well pleased. I find the joy is in the journey.
There are about a million things I should be doing on this Sunday before Christmas but I can't tear myself from watching Kate and Anna quilt together. I am relatively new to this channel and I find it so calming and comforting.
Welcome to the the last homely house! I have room next to me on this lovely lime green sofa, grab your quilting a cup of your favorite beverage, mine would be coffee as I watch the video on Monday morning (5:25-6:00am CST). The first time as I watch the videos a couple times as I miss things. Anyway welcome!!
So peaceful. Reminds me of... I lived in a small town where most were employed by the same company. A beloved worker was retiring, and the whole town came together to make him a quilt. Just like a historic quilting bee. I sat next to a person who had never even held a needle. A day of coming together in joy and comraderie. Merry Christmas to all!
@@mvc9871Those little squares “postage stamp” style curtains, do you mean? (Yes, she made them. I’m hoping Kate does one of her “Frequently Asked Questions” video shorts she & Anna plan to make to address the many questions her viewers often ask, to discuss how she went about making those lovely curtains!).
Kate, you ARE definitely the mum and mum in law every female dreams of. Anna, girl, you are sooo BLESSED, as is Kate to have you with her. It is a blessing to be able to watch you ladies interact and get a long so beautifully as you ladies do. God bless you. It would be a blessing for sure to be able to learn right there next to you Kate.
I love to watch the two of you together and I always think what a blessing you are to one another. Anna just seems to be a gentle and kind young woman. Lovely Anna and Kate and lovely quilts ❤❤
So lovely to watch you both enjoying this quilting. As a small child I watched neighbors and my Grandmother and later in life I pulled from that to begin quilting by hand. My mum never did craft t things so watching you two is wonderful and heart warming ❤
How lovely to see you sharing your knowledge and experience with Anna. Anna is fortunate to have you teaching her quilting skills. You are always positive in your comments and suggestions so that Anna keeps her enthusiasm with quilting. Looking forward to seeing the completed quilts. Wishing you both a peaceful and lovely Christmas. Take care❤️
👍👍I enjoyed this very much. A tip for threading the needle. Wet the eye of the needle, not the thread. Moisture on the thread makes it swell, moisture on the needle eye attracts the dry thread.
Two beautiful quilts. Someone taught me years ago to thread my needle as it comes off the spool and not from the end you cut. That way you are sewing with the twist instead of against it. It was a game changer for me 😊
Good to know, I've always wondered if there was a difference. That may explain why sometimes it knots up more, and other times, it flows through the fabric.😊
Loved this video of you both quilting. I found the sound of the needle going into the fabric and the thread being pulled through quite calming. The microphone was amplifying that sound. I like your big stitches too, it’s good to know they don’t have to be tiny. They get the job done and more importantly you get the job done.
Words are inadequate to express the incredible joy watching the two of you brings me. I'm deeply grateful. I wish you and all those you love a beautiful holiday filled with love and contentment. I'm also looking forward to seeing your continued progress on the cabin. With love!
What a blessing you have in each other…enjoying quilting together! It is so wonderful to see you two doing something you both are loving. I am also a quilter and love seeing these videos. Thank you!
I think how brave Anna is to admit that she made a mistake well done! So lovely to see you both quilting together. I have an old quilt that I must finish started many years ago. I now have a quilting Sewing machine and I won it at a craft fair! I am very inspired to see you both finish your gorgeous quilts together. I am almost sewing along with you both on the Lime Green Sofa. Thanks for sharing and Hope you all have a very Happy Christmas!
Wonderful watching the two of you working together. I watched one with your son the other day and he was alot of fun too. I love, love, love the curtains!! Can’t wait to see these two quilts finished. I love big stitch Hand Quilting and your love of Hand Quilting shines through.
Oh Kate, what a kind, patient teacher you are. She is in the best hands to learn. You are so kind, and knowledgeable! Well done Ladies. This warmed my heart. ♥️♥️♥️😂🎄🕊
I enjoy your hand quilting, Kate. It really compliments your quilts. You are a great teacher too. It was nice hearing Anna's doubts on her quilt and how you made a few suggestions to help her and gave her her confidence back.
So glad Anna is saying ‘My next quilt will be better’ instead of I’m never going to do that again🎉🎉 Anna is at the start of a wonderful journey, she’s made a wonderful quilt and she’s got a great supporter 👍👏🇬🇧
I think my first comment had an error and did not move forward, because of the sincere thoughts I want to repeat . You and yours have brought such happiness to me this year, thank you. May you have a wonderful new year and joyful Christmas. Again, thank you and The Last Homely House.
I got so excited when Anna said that she didn't have Kate's confidence "YET." THAT means there will be more quilts to come from Anna. YAY! We have another quilter on the lime-green sofa. Congratulations to Anna for the follow-through and to Kate for passing on the expertise. You ladies are such a joy to watch. Happy Christmas to your entire family.
Having just discovered your channel I feel like I’ve found treasure 😂I’m pretty much a self taught quilter, much trial and sooooo much error! Thank you so much for passing on your skills, knowledge and the realisation that ‘having a go’ is not forbidden 😅.
Kate and Anna, I throughly enjoy the time you share with us. Since I’ve been watching “The Last Homely House,” I’ve learned so much and gained encouragement from across the pond. Today Anna was right on target about the knowledge gained and then the leap into the practical. I’m still on the fence watching and absorbing. Thank you both and have a Blessed Happy Christmas with a Joyful Blessed New Year.
Kate looks into the camera with a twinkle in her eye, says 'sometimes I make mistakes and I don't mind that' (or something like that) and what a relief! Quilters who do it for the joy and not for the perfect piece. Thank you Kate. My friend and I would like you to adopt us (really - however between her and I our hijinks would probably leave you in a spin) but if you are looking for a couple of Australian daughters to adopt - let us know, we are dead keen!!! Take care both of you xx
45 years ago when I first started quilting, I made a hexagon quilt for my husband. I did not know anything about the size of stitches that you should use to keep the quilt together. Nor did I know about the quality of fabrics. 40 years later, bad news. The thread I use was not quality thread at all it just shredded along with the ends of the hexagon because it was cheap Fabric. It was a sad day in my life I threw it out. I regret that, but I did could’ve just put it in a box or drawer and saved it for, someone who wants to see what not to do. Second quilt I made. I was very proud of that one. I sold it by the machine log cabin with stars joining the different blocks. The fabric was better than the first quilt I made, but it faded. All the black I had in the quilt, turned to brown. And then the stars with their points did not turn out right. But I didn’t know any better. I was so proud of that quilt. About 15 years after that, I was looking at that quilt one day, and I said to myself, what in the world was I thinking about those points did not do right with the seams or anything Pitiful. But I enjoyed being proud of it for those years. Am I still proud of it? Yes, I am why? Because I learned to quilt by myself, no one to help me no one to tell me the things to look for. as the years have gone by, I have made a hexagon quilt again it’s beautiful. And I’m still learning because I watch everybody tell about their ins and outs on how to make it even better. And as for my quilting, I have made several log cabin, quilts, and quilted it machines stitched it together and they’re beautiful. I called these beginner quilts of mine, my learning curves it’s made me a better Quilter. And I have learned one thing for sure. I never point out my mistakes to people that I have made on quilts over the years. They don’t even see it. So why even say anything to them. But I understand that video is for the purpose of teaching peopleand building up their confidence. Sometimes mistakes need to be said. So for the first time in 45 years, I am telling you my mistakes but I’m not showing the quilt. Thank you for your good videos that you make and sharing your experience.
Beautiful quilts. I would like to see how you bury a knot when starting and stopping your hand stitching by popping them to the backside of the quilt top. Might be handy to demonstrate for new quilters.
I absolutely love Anna’s quilt. The pattern and especially the colors. ❤️❤️👍 I have been inspired by Kate’s quilt. I am a fabric scrap hoarder and have now started sewing my scraps into the same kind of blocks.😊💕
Anna is absolutely adorable! What a blessing to have her in your life, Kate. The joy of creating a beautiful legacy is inspiring and exciting, even now in my 60s. I learned to quit from my grandmother (usually playing underneath the giant quilting frame and watching the needles poke through the underside) while the women worked above me. Such incredible memories and fabric is an enduring love of mine. Merry Christmas to you and your family and thank you for your lovely videos. 💗
Oo, Anna showed me and you use marakesh- in yr quilt! It’s my favorite and I love what you do! Thank you Kate- showing makes a difference ! Aurifil is what I started and is the best! I’m from Massachusetts-and fun various way to use-I had my stroke on my R hand so it’s great exercise for my R hand! Thank you, Kate and Anna!
Both quilts are beautiful. I am 74 and haven’t quilted for about 6 yrs because of husband being sick and myself as well. I can’t make the very tiny stitches anymore because my fingers are stiff so I will be doing your method from now on. I love it. I won’t use a hoop but quilt like you are doing. Thank you.
Kate and Anna your quilts are looking lovely. Both are quite colourful and unique. Take care, stay healthy, and enjoy this holiday time with friends and family.
I have always stitched in the ditch but after watching this, I am chomping at the bit to try a grid pattern on my present quilt. Really inspiring and wholesome video, great company for a winter’s night. Thankyou ladies ❤
I'm not a quilter, but as a creative person I find it a joy, and so interesting to watch what lovely things other people are doing. Thankyou! Merry Christmas along with love and blessingsto all for the coming year. 🙏🌈
I'm quilting along with you this afternoon. Lovely sunshine here also, at least for a couple more hours. I'm thankful God has blessed us with such a lovely day to sew.
Such a fantastic video. You are a wonderful and encouraging teacher to Anna. Every comment to Anna is so positive and you are giving her so much confidence in making her first quilt. Anna is doing wonderful and her quilt is so beautiful. Can't hardly wait to see your next video.
I so very much enjoyed watching the two of you working together and the conversations you have. I love how the microphone picks up the sound of the thread/needle moving through the fabric. Thank you.🪡🧵😊
Anna, thanks so much for suggesting the closeup of Kate stitching! I’m determined to hand quilt my next one and really needed the instruction from a pro.
Great job Anna, your quilt is very pretty. You will enjoy doing the quilting on this happy quilt during the winter months. You will really see a big difference when it is finished.
Anna, just want to say that I very made many quilts, not one has been made without its imperfections, I’ve ripped stitches out to match seams, corners or points. Sometimes I sew a piece in the wrong place on the block. I fix it and move on. Thats the beauty of any quilt, and when the binding is on I love them all. Have fun your quilt pattern and colors are gorgeous.
I watch your videos every morning with my morning coffee while crocheting. The music is so relaxing. What a great to have your video every morning. Thank you friend.
I think Anna’s quilt would look really pretty with a sort of half daisy quilted into the solid half of the half square. I don’t know if that makes sense but they look like baskets to me and if I did the design I would stitch the ditch on each stripe of the multicolor side and a flourish on the solid side. I’m sure it will be beautiful regardless of your choice.
What a wonderful relationship you and Anna have. It has been a delight to be apart of Anna’s journey to learn to quilt. You are so lucky to have Anna in your life!
I am so taken with you two and your relationship, enjoying each others company and sharing your quilting together. Its like you have been doing it for years. The gentleness and calm is a treat in a busy world and I watch you while I sew my own quilts. We are coming into summer in the southern hemisphere, but there is opportunity to sit outside in the morning and sew before it gets too hot. Enjoy your quilting and have a great Christmas and New Year, may it hold new projects and exciting times.
Merry Christmas and happy quilting. It's fun to see you "in stitches" while stitching (and threading the needle). Beautiful projects and lovely smiles.
I love your channel.........and my very favourite feature has been Anna's first quilt, therefore, last time when you said it would be finished next time I was disappointed that it would soon come to an end. Selfishly, I am now VERY happy that the finish is still to look forward to. My fingers are also crossed that we'll get to see some of Anna's other quilts in the making. Thank you both so much.
It's heartwarming to watch Mother & Daughter in Law working sweetly together. I have 2 dnlaws but neither like doing handwork. I love watching how you talk and work together. Love from Alabama...USA.
You and yours have brought such happiness to me this year , thank you . May you have a wonderful new year and joyful Christmas. Again , Thank a you and The Last Homely House.
How wonderful it is to have a daughter in law in yr life. Yr whole family is so family oriented. I just love it! What a special family. Can't wait to hear what John has to say about Anna's beautiful quilt. She should make him a quilt with all carpenter tools on it. I love watching u guys stitching. I love the hand stitching too. I was in a quilting group and was more or less put down bcuz I wasn't doing it all by machine. Then the day came that they had a quilt that needed hand quilting. Who did they ask? Me. Enjoy u so much. Bless u for taking the time to share yr knowledge. Delia, Oreo and me. Luv to all. 😊
What a lovely time you two have had, troubles and all. I love both quilts, but I especially love Kate's. E everyone on the LGS have a merry Christmas. Happy quilting!!
Compliment: yours is one of the very few podcasts I watch in real time! Almost all others get sped up, or I jump the chapters. ❤ Happy Christmas and new years to you both and your families. Grateful for all you offer us. 🎄 🎁 🌟
Kate I love seeing your Terry Quilt. It makes me smile each time I see your quilt. I love your quilting deign and thread you have chosen. I eel like a proud MoMA seeing your quilt come to life.
That was so lovely to see you both enjoying each other’s company and stitching. Anna you are turning into a true quilter planning at least 4 more quilts in your head. I hope that you will show them at FOQ and if you do I hope to have a photograph with you both. I enjoyed meeting you this year. Happy Christmas to you both. ❤️
I enjoy watching you and Anna work together. The relationship between you two is heartwarming.. I was fortunate to have a wonderful Mother-in-law as well and your show reminds me of her. Thank you both.💖
Your patience and encouragement with Anna, reminds me of my mom helping me with crocheting. I sometimes felt like just putting the whole project in a dark closet never to be seen again. Anna went from sad and discouraged to smiling and looking so pleased. Merry Christmas ladies and your loved ones.
How special is this! I love to watch the two of you together. Both of your quilts look amazing. Anna you should be very proud of your first quit. It’s lovely.
Merry Christmas to you, dear Kate and Anna. Thank you for all the lovely content on both your channels. I wish you and your families a peaceful and Happy new year.❤❤

This is a gorgeous video! Thanks for the close up Anna. I love the little 'plip plip' of the needle against the table top. That multi coloured thread is just so fun! Well done on these 2 beautiful quilts ❤

I have really enjoyed your journey together, Kate and Anna!! Anna’s quilt is just lovely and I love all your quilts, Kate. You are one of my online friends!!thank you so much for sharing!!
You are spreading joy, thank you!

I soooo agree!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year ❤❤
So peaceful. Watched this in January on a snowy weekend, just what I needed. Thank you.
As do I! It's very meditative, isn't it?
So peaceful. Reminds me of... I lived in a small town where most were employed by the same company. A beloved worker was retiring, and the whole town came together to make him a quilt. Hi, can you please talk about your curtains? Did you make them? They are so beautiful.
@@mvc9871Those little squares “postage stamp” style curtains, do you mean? (Yes, she made them. Great tip! Don’t know why I never tried that after all the years of stitching I ‘ve done!😳
it totally works for hand and sewing machine needles. i just learned this tip in the past six months - time (sanity) saver!!@@brittawrolson5936
What kind of needle is best? I want to try!
Two beautiful quilts. Someone taught me years ago to thread my needle as it comes off the spool and not from the end you cut. That way you are sewing with the twist instead of against it. It was a game changer for me 😊
Never heard that before, but will definitely give it a try. Thank you!
It was one of those aha moments when I was told, and it seems so logical when you think about it. I wondered how I got this old and never twigged 😂
Good to know, I've always wondered if there was a difference. That may explain why sometimes it knots up more, and other times, it flows through the fabric.😊

Anna, You are so lucky to have such a good teacher. Both quilts are so pretty! I'm looking forward to your next quilt.
Hi Kate and Anna
Anna has done marvellously. She will soon be a prolific quilt maker like yourself 🌟🎄💞

Quilting is such a metaphor for life. Problems which can consume us as we focus on them eventually fade into the tapestry of our lives.

I just LOVE to see the dynamic between the two of you so very much. I love your quilts and quilting also.
Anna's quilt has an 'old fashioned' charm. It's lovely.
Seeing you two work together is so heart warming
I'm quilting along with you this afternoon. Lovely sunshine here also, at least for a couple more hours. I'm thankful God has blessed us with such a lovely day to sew.
Love the relationship between Kate and Anna❤
Such a fantastic video. You are a wonderful and encouraging teacher to Anna. Every comment to Anna is so positive and you are giving her so much confidence in making her first quilt. Anna is doing wonderful and her quilt is so beautiful. Can't hardly wait to see your next video.
I would love sitting with you two lovely women - talking and laughing ❤️ love from Denmark 🙋♀️🥰
I so very much enjoyed watching the two of you working together and the conversations you have. I love how the microphone picks up the sound of the thread/needle moving through the fabric. Thank you.🪡🧵😊
What a marvelous quilt Anna has made. Bravo!!!
Anna, thanks so much for suggesting the closeup of Kate stitching! I’m determined to hand quilt my next one and really needed the instruction from a pro.
Anna has done a wonderful job also 👏👏👏
Great job Anna, your quilt is very pretty. You will enjoy doing the quilting on this happy quilt during the winter months. You will really see a big difference when it is finished.
I love watching you, Kate, quilting with Anna. Your interaction with each other is so sweet!
Where is the love button?!? I enjoyed this video so much, it deserves more than a like. Thank you both for sharing your quilting journey with us.
Love watching you two working together!!
Both quilts are gorgeous!
Oh, this is the best! Sewing, laughing, learning, talking! What pure delight! Thank you.
Anna, just want to say that I very made many quilts, not one has been made without its imperfections, I’ve ripped stitches out to match seams, corners or points. Love your curtains they look like glas pieces 🥰 and love your two inspiration. 🥰
Thank you all very much for making and sharing this marvelous episode! Beautiful 💜 quilts! 💖🥰💕💜😊
Thanks so much for suggesting the close up Anna! It was really helpful to see closely how Kate does her quilting stitches ❤🤩
Super bonitos los dos❤❤❤❤❤
I am so taken with you two and your relationship, enjoying each others company and sharing your quilting together. Its like you have been doing it for years. The gentleness and calm is a treat in a busy world and I watch you while I sew my own quilts. We are coming into summer in the southern hemisphere, but there is opportunity to sit outside in the morning and sew before it gets too hot. Enjoy your quilting and have a great Christmas and New Year, may it hold new projects and exciting times.
You two have so much fun together. I love how you enjoy each other.
Merry Christmas and happy quilting. It's fun to see you "in stitches" while stitching (and threading the needle). Beautiful projects and lovely smiles.
Anna is so sweet, I love how you two get along
I love your channel.........and my very favourite feature has been Anna's first quilt, therefore, last time when you said it would be finished next time I was disappointed that it would soon come to an end. Selfishly, I am now VERY happy that the finish is still to look forward to. My fingers are also crossed that we'll get to see some of Anna's other quilts in the making. Thank you both so much.
A lovely way to spend an evening watching these two work so wonderfully well together.
Brilliant to see you both starting the quilting on your quilts! 🎉
You two ladies are so blessed to have each other. ❤️
Anna, I LOVE your backing! It’s perfect for your quilt top. 🎉
The togetherness of making quilts warms my heart!!❤️
Luv to all. 😊
I especially love the banter and giggles between Kate & Anna. Keep having fun and enjoying the process together xx
What a lovely time you two have had, troubles and all. I love both quilts, but I especially love Kate's. E everyone on the LGS have a merry Christmas. Happy quilting!!
You guys are so darling together! It’s so fun to watch you both.. . . . . Lol💚
Compliment: yours is one of the very few podcasts I watch in real time! Almost all others get sped up, or I jump the chapters. ❤
Happy Christmas and new years to you both and your families. Grateful for all you offer us. 🎄 🎁 🌟
Kate I love seeing your Terry Quilt. It makes me smile each time I see your quilt. I love your quilting deign and thread you have chosen. I eel like a proud MoMA seeing your quilt come to life.
What a wonderful scene, the two of you sitting and quilting together. Merry Christmas to you both and see you at New Year 🥰
That was so lovely to see you both enjoying each other’s company and stitching.
