Baška is a very nice town and also important in Croatia's history. Nearby the town there is a small medieval church and the grant to give the land was written on the Bašćanska tablet which is one of the oldest surviving artefacts of written Croatian language.
We read up on that when we were in Baska. The tablet has been moved though so we didn't visit the church. Unbelievable history Luka. We've been really geeking out over Croatian history to be honest 🤓🖤
A huge missed opportunity, you went to the home of šurlice and didn't even try it, I mean you can find it in other parts of coastal Croatia, but that's like trying Maine lobster in North Carolina or trying a French Shepherd's pie. It doesn't hit the same. As for the stone cold mugs, yes that's a normal thing in most of Croatia, people don't smile because they don't feel the need to and staring is common place, but you probably got more looks because...let's just say us Croats aren't exactly used to seeing black people. You are like an unicorn to us (we do like a double take), I'm just keeping it a buck, no offense. The charm has worn off for me considering how many dark skinned people visit Croatia nowadays, we have really become a popular tourist destination. Most of my heritage actually comes from Krk and I live pretty close by so I'm glad you visited the underrated island. Now onto Senj/Velebit National Park ? More islands ? Knin ? Zadar ? Šibenik ? Split ? Trogir ? Ston ? Makarska ? Dubrovnik ?
Hey Kristijan.. 👋. Yeah I don't like to assume it's because of my skin colour but it makes sense 😅. Everyone we've met have been amazing... very polite and helpful and generally pleased to interact with us. It's just people walking passed that stare with a cold face. Good to know though ☺️. Losts of amazing things to come... Plitvice video should be uploaded tomorrow. All I can say is WOW!! Thanks for your support Kristijan 🖤
@@parttimetravellingfamily No matter, don't let it get to you, people here just have the natural resting face and they don't like to smile because of culture reasons. But the people are actually nice, you just need to get to know them. Can't wait for the Plitvice vid although I imagine it's gonna be crowded. Don't recommend eating at the Plitvice shops because they're overly expensive. But you already did the vid so it's a bit of a late warning.
People in Cro stare because they are curious and/or judging. You must have in mind we are racially homogenic. And until late 90s most people never seen another race than white (in RL). And also you are walking and talking to camera. So it's normal people are curious of something that's not common in their every day lives.
people here (especially in smaller places) are not so used to different skin color, so you are immediately a local interest and "attraction" if you see that they are without "expression" while looking at you, it means that they are evaluating you, whether you are "good or bad" once you become "good" you will receive more hospitality than you ask for
@@parttimetravellingfamily don't respond to this kind of people. This guy is well known anti- Croat. Jealousy and hatred is his thing. He often visits videos about Croatia and spreads hate

There were wowels before the ethnic cleansing against dalmatian italians. KRK was called VEGLIA, HVAR was called LESINA, DUBROVNIK was called RAGUSA.
Benito Mussolini ethnic cleansed ten thousands of ethnic croats and other non-italians from dalmatia
God bless you and your
family
Thank you Adeel 🖤
Sibenik is a must
Ston is a must
I know everybody goes to dubrovnik and split...but these 2 cities are better imo
Great recommendations 🖤

I love when non native speakers pronounce KRK, in English the R is mostly silent but for Croats its opposite xD
India Vs England Sami final T20 cricket today
Island of Krk.. Its like James T. Kirk from Star Trek :D
