Take me back to the 80's and leave me there.
Back to the 1880s it is
@doosin8696 with current knowledge I could change the world, I don't want that responsibility. Take me back to the 1980's when I was able to enjoy a great decade.
The Romantics are at this level of musicianship.

Just ask Our KIDS!
😅 ❤
I'm 60 and I'm going to see them live in Sept 2023 - decades after seeing them in 1986! Long live the Bunnymen!
Funny we just planned a trip to see them a couple hours ago, then I read this. I'm 45
Thats Awesome. Should be A Fun Night.
excited to see ya?ll there!
Where!

All I wanted to do in the 80’s was get to the future. Now that I’m here, I just want to go back.
Yeah, but its too late now I'm afraid. There is still a future. What it will be the choice is ours.
So true.
Great comment, and probably a sentiment shared by many many millions. Back then all we worried about was mutual nuclear annihilation, which turned out to be a hyped up threat. Now it seems that innocence is so rare it's all but gone.
@Brendon Walker I WOULD LIKE TO GO BACK MYSELF, BUT WITH WHAT I KNOW KNOW. CAN YOU IMAGINE? I LOVE SCIENCE. WHAT A BEAUTIFUL TRIP. I WOULD PLAY THE LOTTERY AND GIVE MONEY TO ALL KINDA OF CHARITIES. STOP AND GIVE MONEY TO THE PEOPLE THAT WERE HURTING. TO VETERANS JUST HAVE A BLAST HELPING PEOPLE.
We all wanted to grow up and have better technology... But now we wish we were kids... One thing about the 80s that nobody mentions thats different from now would be that in the 80s if you were a broke kid(like I was) life really sucked... These days lower class kids can afford all types of shit, youtube, video games they're never bored... In the 80s if you were broke you get nothing, the most boring life you could imagine, if you couldn't afford cable and video games you were really fucked in the 80s, it was more expensive and hard to make money with such low minimum wage, things have become more socialistic now with more govmnt programs to help, free phones etc...
One of the best songs ever. Long live the 80s.
This is a psychedelic song, thus deeply rooted on the Beatles' psychedelic period.
Nonsense, awful silly song ...
@@wweebbeerrnn Really? I think it is great. What song would you say is one of the greatest 80s songs?
@@davidcroberts8367 Pixies Where is my mind, XTC Senses working overtime, REM The end of the world, Tom Waits Downtown train, so on ...
@@wweebbeerrnn Yeah, you are not wrong with your choices.
The beat of the 80's will never be heard again I'm 52 years old and may the 80's music never die
60 here and still rockin' this and more
wes smith very true
Damm right. Nothing but good music, and grateful times
Same here
Well I'm here to tell you I'm 25 and still passing this music on. Love it
I feel so lucky to have grown up in the 80’s. I wouldn’t trade it for the world.
We were definitely a lucky lot
@@cpapafunk : Yep! I just wish I could go back and do it over again....
Me too!!!!! 🙆🏻♀️🌟🍀
I say the same thing every day loved my 80s life!!
@@Milesco so so agree 1000%
Absolutely listening now. Remembering my true loves lips.
This song still gets the Gen x kids dancing when this song comes on! A true 80"s classic!
The 80s were a magical decade to grow up in. This has been said a million times on RUclips, but it's just so damn true. If you lived it, you get it. If you didn't, maybe you can catch a small piece through the music.
+Infinite Shandy Not really I grew up in the 80's graduated in 88. Most of the music sucked, some was good like Peter Gabriel and a few others. But the great music came from the 60's and 70's.
Psychologitron The 60s and 70s had amazing music to be sure. I think our generation had a healthy respect for the music of our parents, unlike more current generations that seem to be largely disconnected from / disinterested in tradition. In the 80s, a surprising diversity of genres blended together to create a fun atmosphere.
Infinite Shandy Poison, Cinderlla etc etc...they just sucked. The whold galm thing was embarrasing.
Psychologitron Every decade has its crappy music. MTV facilitated the cheesier side of the 80s...and I wouldn't change a thing.
***** I always hated it, never seemed fab to me at all. I was and still am into Zeppelin, Floyd etc etc. Way better than Swisted Tister.
At 56 growing up with this music and likes of souxie , the cure , the smiths , killing joke , house Martin's etc ... ! I'm still a musician and am playing with a lot of younger guys and girls now who think their music is the bomb , sorry the eighties world wide created so many iconic acts that no one can hold a candle to even now !
Siouxsie
@Disband from youtube wait, what?
Preach !!!
@censortubenaut cringe
@censortubenaut very true
Born in 79 thank GOD! I didn't get the party life of the eighties, but I sat in front of the TV and watched video after video on MTV...THANK YOU MOM AND DAD!
I was born in 1970 and one of my younger brothers in 79 , I got him into this music 😊
Melody, lyrics, chords, voice, combination of everything that makes the mind travel, desires emerge, life is reborn, dreams return, memories resurface. Perfect and rejuvenating!
I'm taking the 80s with me into the future..To live on the vibrations in from the infinite
WooHoo! I’m 63 and still listening
64 & finally saw them May 2024 Brooklyn NY!!! Great concert!! Acoustics were awesome
me too!
There’s a HUGE demand and market for this style of edgy music today. We need many new artists to write in this mode. It would be well received! Cheers.
Agreed! The "rappin" style crap is worn out and old...80's rules, rap drools
Never get tired of this song.......
Hi there
Just thinking the same!!!! 😃
What a beautiful 1980s song. Doesn't get much better.
70s
@@TheWhale45 it was released in 1987. Think again
Saw 'em 3 times in the past. Including First Avenue in Minneapolis. Yup, was awesome. Loved it! Don't we all sing along?!
Echo & The Bunnymen have so many amazing tracks. Truly underrated in the pantheon of great 80s bands. Lips like sugar. The killing moon. Seven Seas. The Cutter. Bring on the dancing horses. Songs to the soundtrack of my life.
This song was my and my doggo's road trip anthem. Summertime, head out the window, just us. RIP Blacky
Aw, I’m so sorry for the loss of your buddy. Fare thee well, Blacky.
What can I say about this great track..... This is ECHO AND THE BUNNYMEN at their peak! Will's guitar, Pete's drumming and Ian's Vocals are simply brilliant! How I miss this 1980's Liverpool sound!
William H. Baird and the bassist
Les was incredible!
Ian Cisneros here...just saying...woooo
"Ocean Rain" album was them at their peak.
The Fab Four from Liverpool ?
This song solidified itself as an 80’s anthem. Ian McCulloch kills it on vocals. So many great times partying to this song back in the day. 😎🤙🏾✌🏾
little trivia.. the band was originally 3 members minus a drummer. they used a drum machine they nicknamed Echo and the three of them were the Bunnymen. Now you know the rest of the story.
Groovy man
Dear Mr Echo,
Echo was the best in genre. Haunting, original, beautiful.
Yes. ❤
it was impossible for the 80s to produce anything but awesome music and movies......greatest time to be a teenager!!
Seen them in the Glasgow barrowland in 84 , brilliant concert what fantastic band , who o loved then
I'm 35, and I lucked out that I grew up listening to a lot of these great bands: Echo & The Bunnymen, Siouxsie and The Banshees, Joy Division, Cruxshadows, Bauhaus - for a long time I didn't know the band names, I just was a little kid listening to cassette tapes having a grand time.
Echo and the Bunnymen, The Cure, The Smiths and the Stranglers What more music does anyone need.
Maybe the psychedelic furs?
The Butthole Surfers
Let's just sit back and appreciate the special telent displayed here what a time to be alive
This music is still awesome.........in 2021!!!!!!!!
also in 2022!!!
And 2022 what u think in we're not with / this is music/ real music 😎😎😎😎
2022.
And 2022! 😊
Still in 2022
There was a magic about this song and the decade of the 1980’s. Nothing has better since! I’m proud to be a part of that era.
Me, too. Among the American bands I am very impressed with The Romantics' "Talking in your sleep."
So innocent 😇❤
Gen X baby!
Crazy times, but I could do the 80'a again.
Yea Dude ! ! The early 80's, Post Punk era, NuWave music, baggy parachute pants with tight ankles, pointy shoes, skinny ties, crazy hair, MTV, 91X- San Diego, KROQ- LA, So-Cal, Max Headroom, Alpine car stereos. Matthew Sequoyah I listed a few too earlier in the Tweet, the 680 were my Teen years & there was so much fantastic music, why the 80’s has this “crap music” Decade handle is truly beyond me, but yeah the slaters were probably not even Born? ✌️😎
I wish I knew you then, would have hung out and clubbed and concerted.
The pants I remember fold pegging them. Lmao good memories! And creepers!
KROQ!!!!
80's music is the best era. These classics are timeless!
So is 90s and early 2000s music as well tho
God please take me back to the 80's.. such a sensational time to live, love and be free. Actually it's was quite an explosive yet innocent time of dreaming, doing and living for the moment.
Love that 80's guitar tone.
I grew up in the 60's and 70's but I LOVE the music of the 80' s as well. A great era for pop/rock music!

She floats like a swan
Grace on the water
Lips like sugar
Lips like sugar
Just when you think you've caught her
She glides across the water
She calls for you tonight
To share this moonlight
You'll flow down her river
She'll ask and you'll give her
Lips like sugar
Sugar kisses
Lips like sugar
Sugar kisses
She knows what she knows
I know what she's thinking
Sugar kisses
Sugar kisses
Just when you think she's yours
She's flown to other shores
To laugh at how you break
And melt into this lake
You'll flow down her river
But you'll never give her
Lips like sugar
Sugar kisses
Lips like sugar
Sugar kisses
She'll be my mirror
Reflect what I am
A loser and a winner
The King of Siam
And my Siamese twin
Alone on the river
Mirror kisses
Mirror kisses
Lips like sugar
Sugar kisses
Lips like sugar
Sugar kisses
Lips like sugar
Sugar kisses
Lips like sugar
Sugar kisses
Lips like sugar
Sugar kisses
Lips like sugar
Sugar kisses
KICK ASS......BROTHER!
Thanks for lyrics, underrated classic from Amazing 80😉
👍
Bomb!!!!
Gorgeous.
As others have noted, the experience of songs like "Lips like Sugar" etc. invoke deep-seated feelings of well-being and the desire to return to that epoch and re-live it all, increasing the fun, yields of feat, love , passion and much more 100-fold. I'm on the first flight back to the 80's. Who's with me?
Yeah, an opportunity to go back and do it all again exponentially better would suit me fine.
I'm with ya.
Loved those days. ❤
When i was a dancer i used to dance fo this....the days when i could still dance and they were all watching and i was losing myself in the music..And then dis ease crippled my legs but never my soul..ty for the beautiful memories
The 70's, 80's and 90's had great songs. This song is one of my favorites.
So excited to see them in 2024 in Charlotte, dreams are coming true
Best days of my life!...what a decade!😎
one of the best songs ever written.
and one of the worst music videos ever... but i love it.
I like the video -- quintessential eighties. It is all a high-watermark of modern music.
My uncle used to listen to them all the time. He got me hooked.
Ughh still love this song...a bazillion years later.
They were awesome in the 80s I saw them live great show still love their music 🎶 🎵
I used to blast this song driving around in my car in the 90s. It was a wonderful time to be alive.
It can be argued that Echo and the Bunnymen had other album/songs that were way more pioneering/influencial, but this is a great damn song.
Yup, this was kowtowing to the record company and putting out a song that would sell. At least E&TB sold out with a darn good pop song. Though the pressure/tension torn the band apart. Pity they weren't able to reconcile their artistic wishes with commercial demands.
Listening to this back in the day while loading Windows 2.0 on a computer with a floppy disk. 😄
Can we go back to THOSE days?
Essa música e esta banda, refletem bem oque foram os anos 80, um dos períodos mais criativos da música internacional de todos os tempos...Que saudade!!!...

Ohhhh yes I am 54 years old and rocken it.
How in the hell can 1.5k give this a thumbs down? No appreciation for the great music from the 80’s. I guess you had to be there, magical!
Idiots
So much good music from my high school years. The sound never dies. I still dance to these with my wife of 30 years. And sometimes by myself.
firdt time hearing this..i like that cinderblock wall..nothin beats the 80"s!!!!
Give me Siouxsie, The Smiths, Echo and the Bunnymen, The Cure and all the great 80's music over any of that manufactured crap they call music today... ❤ ❤
You and me both!
The The also...
Yep and don't forget Duran Duran, those first two albums are masterpieces.
Nothing like dancing to Blue Monday by New Order for 30 min straight....
Siouxsie _originals,_ yeah. Covers, not so much.
The 80's will live forever in our hearts! I know those days, years do in mine!!!
The 80's were the best!!! Great memories!!!! :)
Carol Luongo Yes Carol. Keep them in your heart always! Happy New Year 2017 to You!!! :)
This is on the soundtrack at work and needless to say the volume is at max!
I'm 60 and love this song, and so do my younger employees.
A gem from the 80s.
I was at the Greek in Berkeley 1987. Echo and the Bunnymen, New Order, and Gene Loves Jezebel. Fantastic show. All heavy rotation on KQAK "The Quake" and KITS "Live 105" Great period of time for music.
What a killer song and best of 80s bohemian vibe
Eighties music has that haunting beautiful sound that will never be duplicated! I am so glad I experienced it! Funny how my kids are drawn to this music too! Timeless stamp on these great songs!
*Vivi essa época...Não sei por que, mas dá uma vontade de chorar... Sensação de ter deixado algo muito bom no passado*
Tempo bom que ficou no passado, hoje em dia é só tralha.
Better late than never
I'm 66 and I listened to these bands. It doesn't matter how old you are to appreciate good music.
Easily one of the best songs ever
Back when my grandma was alive (she died in 2015, but im talking like 2005-2010)
My family was united, rly close
So they threw (a lot) parties, and this song was the opening...every... single...time
Now when i play it, i always remember
(I hope i am understandable, i'm from Brazil and never done any english classes, learned all by myself, maybe sounds bad haha)
Blaster San
what an awesome share! and your English is great!
God bless you and keep safe in this crazy year ... and keep that 80s music playing
and sorry your Grandmother has passed 😭💜 may such memories always make you smile! 🙏
I have heard this song a couple times before. But today I'm in love...The kind of song I wished would never end.
“ Just when you think she’s yours, she’s flown to different shores” - Story of my life.
What a bummer Mark !! I wouldnt have left you ! ! Xair
It sounds extremely painful Mark. But remember to love yourself. As Oscar Wilde says it is the only guaranteed life long romance.
Never date a bird that can fly bro. Penguins are the safe bet. 🐧
2015 and this song Still Rocks!!
this music so beautiful and poetic I luved the men that had that poetic edge and I loved hanging out with them to just hear them speak....
You look sexy. Take me to your heart ❤️
We had some awesome music in the 80s, and I can remember Dirty Dancing with every good looking GI that I could find too! The 80s were great!
Definitely an 80s song that desires more love!!!! :)
Wow, seems like I missed out on so much as I wasn't even born yet. Thank god for youtube

So many of my age who enjoyed this great time🎉
I am a 13 year old and my dad used to sing this alot when I was a kid.
Damn the Adam Sandlers songs in some of his movies include these songs.
You're dad is awesome. I do the same for my daughter's. They're grown up but they have a love for 80s music to pass along
I was 5 years old in 1965 when I firstly listened to the Beatles. Now, 2024, I just discovered this band and I love it deeply.
80$ rule cause we felt free to express ourselves thru the music, your clothes, make-up, etc. Going out was something to look forward to.
We all fee that with the shit that’s going on today
..and nothing degrading nor vulgar...crazy times then...
Yvette Marie G...but it did take the entire afternoon to backcomb your hair and slather on the war paint...aaaah...them there were the days...as long as we all forget the imminent threat of nuclear war and the giant hole in the ozone layer...caused by the fuckload of hairspray we used...but the music was magical 😷💕💕💕
One of my favorite late '80s tunes. 🔥
"Great Iconic Video Right There! MTV 120 MINUTES!"
I love this song. Sounds a lot like David Bowie singing. Does anyone else think so or is it just me ? Lol
It's not just you. It struck me immediately. A lot of those British bands in the '80s sounded a lot like Bowie. I read a little later that a lot of these bands were influenced to form their own bands when they first saw Bowie as Ziggy Stardust on the Top of the Pops. What a legacy he left.
Before doing my research, I thought it was David Bowie for years…😂🤦♂️🤣
I agree!!
For sure. Bowie influenced so many. Peter Murphy, Echo, Japan, Iggy. The list goes on.
Of course It has his influencie. Like Many other singers from the 70's 80s and even 90s. But Ian McCulloch has his own style and its not that similar to get confused.
Played this to the lads at work & they just looked at each other gone out. Some younger people just don't get lyrics & guitar.
I really loved this song by echo and the bunnymen
This Music is riding the wave backTHANK YOU
Just noticed they play Santa Cruz, CA tomorrow. Near here.
Born in 72 and we were fearless weren’t we 💪🏽The best music , clothes and hair . I dream of going back a lot ❤️❤️🙌🏽🙌🏽
I now understand this song now that I have lived it

AWESOME SONG !!!
This is the current (for 3 months now...) song stuck on repeat in my frontal lobe. My neighbors get to hear my awful version from the shower almost daily haha. Love it. 1987.. Freshman/Sophomore year of HS. Too many great memories!
Love the pure power pop sound.
Blitz ogle You can say that again, Echo and the Bunnymen, Duran Duran, Joy Division, New Order, Depech Mode, Talk Talk, The Fixx, Psycadelic Furs, The Cure, The Smiths, Simple Minds, Tears for Fears, Oingo Boingo, The Cult, Pete Schilling, and the Concretes were bands I loved in the 80's and I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one.....The 80's Music Ruled ! 3/4 of the bands came from the UK.....
