This is one of my absolute favorite songs of all time, but it reads as satire to me. It seems like they are doing a send-up of love songs. It's too perfect, too on the nose.
This song grew on me after a few years. I mean I thought it was good already but one time with headphones was all it took for me to put this in their top 30. I especially love the guitars at the end.
It is such a sweet sentiment, but do you see Colin writing a straight love song?!? Isn't this just a joke on the one placeholder, hope-for-the-future love song in an otherwise cynical album?
Colin Newman's Spotify radio station is a life hack. I had no idea his solo album was so good. I already liked 80s Wire, but Colin Neuman's solo stuff (and their satellite band AC Marias) is bonkers, and I seriously think that every iteration of this band is better than the one before it. Loved Pink Flag, loved Bell is a Cup, loved the EPS, loved S/T, cannot wait for what's next
@@gongfarmer201 Thanks, man. Will do. I saw this iteration of Wire before COVID and it was one of the best shows I have ever seen, so I would encourage anyone to show up if they ever play again.
Now I am starting to think this song could be about benzo withdrawal............................................................................................................... :(
Could be age, something a lot of comments here betray, but I am so grateful for this song and being around to hear it. Is that ok?
Best band ever.

Great song. Great album. Hoo boy, this video! Lose the flame effect and just have a straight performance vid, IMHO.
Saw them on this tour...they are so good. One of the best shows I've seen.

I'm pretty sure it's about the pleasure of smoking (the final words make this clear, as does the video)
@@stephenharper5761 Holy cow. I quit smoking like 8 years ago but this take made me want a cigarette
