still so wonderful in 2020, im a widower now, i've had two wives pass in twenty year and we loved this and i still do, it such a great love song thank you MP,
I always thought this band was stunningly good. One night after one of their performances, I accidentally ran into Dale Bozzio. I got a chance to talk to her for a while. I found her to be a highly intelligent, super nice woman. She did not have to talk to me for so long, but she did anyway and she had wonderful vibrations. Because it was an accidental meeting, I had nothing for her to sign after the show and she knew it. So she signed my T-shirt that I was wearing. She wrote: "Thank You for Being Such a Great Fan, Love Dale Bozzio". When I got home I immediately placed the T-shirt on my living room wall and I never wore it again. She is a kind woman and so talented. I will never forget that.
Couldn't agree more very underated band I bought the single words and destination got limited air play in Australia I reckon they should have been a lot more popular sydney Australia 4)6/2023
"Surrender Your Heart" is Missing Person's most underrated song of their entire early career, as far as I'm concerned. A simple masterpiece really showing off what they could do. the sad thing is I think it was never performed live. Can anyone dispute this? This is the song that hits me in a soft place, part of the soundtrack of my life. I can't give them a greater compliment than that.
This is the song I like the most from Missing Person. The instrumental part fascinates me. I can listen to it while I'm driving... It calms me down, it makes me feel... I don't know! It is very good music. Besides! The singer's voice fascinates me. The instrumental part and her voice blend into a beautiful melody. The lyrics won't say much. Even so, this is still a very well done song. This song is on the very select list of my favorite songs. I just love it.
That lush and simple repetitive synth refrain has a lot to do with it. Once heard, never forgotten. That and Dale's great sincere and pleading like vocal (natch). What more do you need?
Dale is the one of the flyiest ever to strut across a stage and burn the f'ker down. Such an insanely original vocalist and her image is soooo strong. Totally capable femme bot proto. LOVE HER and the band is kick ass too!! MP forever!!!
No puedo dejar de reconocer la buena musica que hubo en los ochentas, como ejemplo esta cancion en especial, de lo mejor de missing persons...Saludos......
Lyrics: It's not my imagination It's a no win situation There's no way to get away from >From my love I've got you cornered with my devotion I've got you captured by emotion It's impossible to go on Without love Surrender your heart to me Surrender your heart to me Surrender your heart why can't you see It's the only way that it can be Surrender your heart I don't know why But you never give in to me My decision is a strong one And I know that I can hold on How much longer can you go on Without love
this is a creative person's dream... the music, the lyrics, the direction of the video, and most importantly Peter Max's artistry... one of the 80s greatest
I think Dale Bozzio was a great performer, is an icon of the music of the eighties and will always remain as current as ever, forget my amazing friend, thanks for having been Missing persons. atte. pepe chuy obregon, sonora
1983 ....In the transcendence of everything for nothing, with the sentence of surrender, surrender your heart, the hope of the unattainable .... Missing persons, is a musical idea
One of my favorite songs by The (Original) Missing Persons...!!! Teri & Dale should have never broken up...!!! I Miss Missing Persons...!!! (Teri & Dale)
Saw Missing Persons live twice in Santa Cruz, CA in the early 80s. Some of the best shows I saw during that decade... She had a tremendous stage presence and voice, plus the band was quite tight and strong... Just awesome music...
"Wow" they were the first to have this before the original "Sony Plastation" came out in (1995) . "Missing Persons" were some kind of inovatoers of some unique kind.
This is the song that introduced me to Missing Persons; I remember seeing it on VH1 “Totally 80’s” back in 2012 & being immediately captivated. Just recently, I met Dale Bozzio after one of her concerts & I can attest to the fact that she is one of the nicest & most beautiful individuals with whom I have ever been acquainted! Who would have guessed that seeing this video all those years ago would spark my interest in the band & ultimately lead to this lovely encounter?
don't remember hearing this when it came out when I was 14, but could be I heard it and was disappointed that it didn't "rock" like Words or Destination Unknown. now, I really feel it.
I find this song sort of tragic... In a lovely way... As for the music video, I could watch it a hundred times (atop the hundred I already have) and see something new with each. Raw beauty. I've a new found dept to the Missing Persons. We've much to owe to them, based on how much some modern artists have taken from them and branded as original work.

i love this group i remember when i was about 17 years old living in nyc ,i had this girlfriend who was into gothic ,she took me to the village gate to see the grp. i must admit i had a great time. to this day i still have their greatest hits cd, and as i mentione i still enjoy thier music.im 47 yet still into it.
I remember when this video premiered on MTV in the 80's. I loved it and got their album Ryhme and Reason-excellent album. Should have been in the greatest hits cd.!!!!
This is one of their last releases. Off their album Rhyme & Reason. Recently remastered and so I had to buy it again..this time on CD. The album is still great. I love this group.
Thats what i love so much about the internet, i am discovering great 80's songs that i never heard back then because they got no airplay in Australia or maybe not anywhere else for that matter (although their song Words was a bigger hit here than anywhere else reaching #9). This is a really nice song that really should have reached at least the top 20, a shame it didnt make it,
I've liked them since the "I Like Boys" and " Mental Hopscotch" EP. Spring Session M was the height of their popularity but this is my all-time favorite of theirs. As someone stated earlier - this song is so "pure".
Surrender your heart is so haunting
Sometimes a song goes way beyond the sound and music... Surrender Your Heart 💓

That sounds awesome
All I've ever heard was that she was super nice to fans and just a really sweet and nice girl to everyone.
The best song from their album "Rhyme and Reason"....gives me goosebumps every time I listen to it..
AGREED
This album had many great songs, this certainly being one of them😊
Dale Bozzio's voice has such emotional pull in this song. That's why this song endures.
Perfect tune. This video was top-of-the-line back in '84. Peter Max did a great service to the visuals!
Missing Persons is criminally underrated. There music is just art!
Only started listening to their music back in January. Shame thry didn't make any impact in the UK . I absolutely love them .
So is this video. :o)
Her brother was with Zappa great drummer
I mean her husband
You are so right. These songs could still be hits today if they were released today.
Couldn't agree more very underated band I bought the single words and destination got limited air play in Australia I reckon they should have been a lot more popular sydney Australia 4)6/2023
I couldn't believe I found this. This was my favorite song back then and the art of this video just gives me goosebumps.
For my 25th wedding anniversary I chose 25 songs for my wife, this is one of them❤️😊
I did the same when I turned out 53 yo. This is my number one!!!
I met Dale many years ago and found her so warm and welcoming and snuggly and witty and down-to-earth. A great lady, no mistake.
🍻

80s in the blood forever.....
God , this song totally reminds me of my ex back in 84, 19 years old. How times have changed......
Had this on LaserDisc back in the day when i was over in Germany in the Army (Karlsruhe 83-86). Such a great band!!

Was performed live in san diego sdsu i was there in June 1984
Was performed on rhyme & reason tour but sadly only audio recordings seem to exist to the public
Well said its one of my favorite songs of theirs
I Agee 100% , always thought it was there best song!
Yup its your opinion alright.... This song is not very good.

one kick ass band back in the day. very 80s feeling.
All very talented musicians. They are one of the reasons to miss the 80's.
First time I heard this. Fantastic aura... I remember those days of my youth in the 80s. I tell my three kids you missed a wonderful period in time.
Why does this song have such an emotional pull on us? ❤️😢
Reminds us of a simpler, carefree time in our lives. Does for me anyway........ 😞
Magic

@@musicnerd72 The same for 99.9% of us, I expect.
The same reason The B-52’s “She Brakes For Rainbows” does.

Love this one. The warmth of Dale's presence on the chorus.
Why oh why wasn't this a hit? It's beautiful!
