Totally! I discovered this song a few days ago, and i think exactly the same.. Its such a cool song, nostalgic 80´s vibe yet so modern (in an alternative way). As a 80´s music lover, i couldnt be happier for discovering this gem :)
Totally agree Ryan, those synth pads are very ethereal and truly lasting......there were other beautiful new wave ballads from the mid 80's that are similar to this song in that they too express a certain sensuality; two that come to mind are Art of Noise 'Moments in Love' and Orchestral Maneouvres in the Dark 'Never Turn Away'.....
So I'm listening to this, for what the 10,000th time, yet still my hair stands on end. That says something about this amazing tune. Was surprisingly only a minor hit here in the UK but I'm so glad that didn't stop them!
For lack of a more lengthy summation ( and I resist the temptation to wax loquacious, here): This song, and the moment it captures in time, is PERFECT. Forever sublime, and an indelible stroke in music history; it holds a special place in my heart, that no other memory from those years ever will. ~CC.
In a funny sort of way it's a bit like Mama by Genesis in that the song starts off with a strong drum machine pattern, with that replaced by very loud real drums in the second half of the song.
@@monsterstage11 you mean if Blade Runner had a better night club scene than the Taffy Lewis Night Club scene. Although the Vangelis disco song towards the end of that scene isn't bad... Having an actual band performing like Freur could've been interesting. What other acts would have been fitting for Blade Runner? I can imagine Sigue Sigue Sputnik performing "Atari Baby"...
I discovered this on Spotify, and I was instantly blown away. The vocals, instruments, and production were all done perfectly! This song is an underrated gem ❤
Amazingly ahead of it time, with its sound and melody... It launches my mind into deep space with some scenes of other faraway worlds, inhabited landscapes with plants animals, ruins and odd civilizations, strangely beutiful views of undiscovered new horizons for mankind to explore. Thanks Freur! You influenced many, beyond mesure.
I was 14 when I first heard this song... It hit right on my imagination and dreaming about possibility and love. I was always a true romantic and still am This song puts me right back into 1983 and Vanilla Sky that makes me cry good tears of sadness but beautiful nostalgia.
This is exactly the spirit of the 80's - Always if I hear it, I'm still there, exactly WITHIN, in my first date, my first kiss, still in my first "lost in music". Thx a lot for this part of timelessness! No wonder that I became a fan of UNDERWORLD's Music - this are the founding people ;o)
1985. I heard this is in a friend's car on a night drive. A night drive back then was hours on back roads, windows open, heads hanging out as our music blasted on moonless country roads either to the lake or the beach. AMAZING memories. There was this [and so much more.] Then there was Underworld and "Under The Radar" which deservedly sealed my love for this collective.
Wrong. Music is how it’s made and how it’s performed. Music is art form and performance/mastery is most important. Because noise can also makes you feel. But it’s not music.

Remember these guys being huge on the live circuit in South Wales in the 80s, they were formed in my hometown of Cardiff and I used to see Rick and Karl out and about in the city centre back in the day... To think, over a decade after this song they had evolved into Underworld and released three of the best albums of the 90s, as well as the generation-defining hit 'Born Slippy'! Incredible! As far detached from 'Born Slippy' as synth-pop and New Wave may seem, you can hear the early hints of Underworld here on this song... Phenomenal talent
This song is sublime. Stood out then as it does now. Love that these guys would re-emerge as one of the most influential electronica acts of all time, Underworld.
I recall seeing this video and hearing this track for the first time in 1983 and thinking 'These guys have something' little knowing at the time that they would become Underworld. One of my favourite bands of the last 25 years.
I remember hearing this song for the first time while driving thinking it was a new OMD song. There was no Shazam back then. I even thought the DJ made a mistake naming the band when the song ended. Needless to say it instantly became one of my favorite songs of all time. It was the best decade in music. Tears for Fears , Ultravox , Icehouse , OMD, Yazoo, depeche mode, Roxy Music, A Ha, Blancmange, a flock of seagulls, The Fixx, Kim Wilde, and many more.
i used to fall asleep to this song, over ten years ago. fifteen years old and not sure what life would become. this song reminds me it's okay to be unsure of it all. this is not only the best 80s song but the best song of the century.
every generation say " my youth was magic " and this will happen again and again. The time is not the matter, but YOU. When you are 13,14,15...you live and you see the world with a young eyes.

Totally! I discovered this song a few days ago, and i think exactly the same.. Its such a cool song, nostalgic 80´s vibe yet so modern (in an alternative way). As a 80´s music lover, i couldnt be happier for discovering this gem :)
They recently had a concert with the Mars Rover....like right next to the Mars Rover
Toujours le même plaisir de réécouter ce morceau culte, le bonheur d’avoir vécu ces années sublimes..
V A N I L L A S K Y ❤️
LET ME IN
I have been chasing this video for some after a few decades. This song still sends chills and tingling in my soul. Thank you.
Saw them in London in the 80s... Brilliant... Great Memories
Lots of Marquee fun😂🍻
This whole song is fantastic, but that warm synth introduced at roughly 3:20 just makes the whole song work.
So agree with you! One of my favorite 80s songs
I agree. It's the precise moment when this song turns on its epic mode.
So reassuring
yesssss becuse of this genius ruclips.net/video/5OUDe36cF44/видео.html&ab_channel=ManilaErekt watch and you are gonna love it!!!!!
So I'm listening to this, for what the 10,000th time, yet still my hair stands on end. That says something about this amazing tune. Was surprisingly only a minor hit here in the UK but I'm so glad that didn't stop them!
These guys invented the Tetris and Rubik's cube combo. Genius.
For lack of a more lengthy summation ( and I resist the temptation to wax loquacious, here): This song, and the moment it captures in time, is PERFECT. Forever sublime, and an indelible stroke in music history; it holds a special place in my heart, that no other memory from those years ever will. ~CC.
Loquacious and verbose "that's ME" in a nutshell.
Stunningly beautifully layered song I love the keyboards and the quintessential stand up drums from the 1980s
In a funny sort of way it's a bit like Mama by Genesis in that the song starts off with a strong drum machine pattern, with that replaced by very loud real drums in the second half of the song.
I love how their look and sound feels like it's from some alternate future that could have happened
A lot of bands from early 1983 had this feel.
If Bladerunner had a nightclub scene
@@monsterstage11 you mean if Blade Runner had a better night club scene than the Taffy Lewis Night Club scene. Although the Vangelis disco song towards the end of that scene isn't bad... Having an actual band performing like Freur could've been interesting. What other acts would have been fitting for Blade Runner? I can imagine Sigue Sigue Sputnik performing "Atari Baby"...
An inmortal tune.
inmortal or immortal?
I discovered this on Spotify, and I was instantly blown away. The vocals, instruments, and production were all done perfectly! This song is an underrated gem ❤
This song is special.
There are a few bits of 80's electronica that are timeless classics, this is certainly one of them.
Few will ever appreciate the technical aspects of producing such a tune of this magnitude with what was available at the time it was cast in stone.
I was 14 when I first heard this song... It hit right on my imagination and dreaming about possibility and love. I was always a true romantic and still am This song puts me right back into 1983 and Vanilla Sky that makes me cry good tears of sadness but beautiful nostalgia.
I remember this song. I've had this song in my mind on and off for 41 years. It's a pity they weren't big here
Facevo il militare. quando girava questo pezzo di musica elettronica...bei tempi!!!!
Masterpiece 😮
Vanilla Sky ❤
music is not about how it's made or how it's performed, music is about what you hear and how it makes you feel.
Wrong. Music is how it’s made and how it’s performed. Music is art form and performance/mastery is most important. Because noise can also makes you feel. But it’s not music.

Einzigartige Klangfarben...perfekt arrangiert. Für mich der beste Song der legendären 80's ♥️
such a beautiful lost classic, glad to find it back here after +30 years!
Herinnert me aan vroeger 😊
14 y. o. for me in 1983...True beautiful Songs are for ever... Today's garbage immediately goes to W.C. ... GREAT FREUR.
The guy on the candy cane goes hard!
I recall seeing this video and hearing this track for the first time in 1983 and thinking 'These guys have something' little knowing at the time that they would become Underworld. One of my favourite bands of the last 25 years.
I have been searching for this version for 25 years ! Thank you for posting.
Best song ever hands down
Thank you for this song; Professor of Rock brought me here.
Best use of synth ever. Gives me the shivers!
Not only did my man play a wicked broomstick solo he smashed it at the end like a true rock star.
The funkier the outfit and the gear the better the track generally...weirdest movie Award goes to Vanilla Sky
So much is owed to Kraftwerk to break the mold and so many branched from the 4 chord world to a musical landscape.
Ce morceau me fait revenir des décennies en arrière, un résumé du bonheur que c’était de vivre ces instants.
i used to fall asleep to this song, over ten years ago. fifteen years old and not sure what life would become. this song reminds me it's okay to be unsure of it all. this is not only the best 80s song but the best song of the century.
Vanilla Sky...
Let's get the number of views to one million. ETA - we did it!
This song manages to sound very much of its time yet still somehow timeless.
every generation say " my youth was magic " and this will happen again and again. The time is not the matter, but YOU. When you are 13,14,15...you live and you see the world with a young eyes.
A classic - loved this song since I was a teen. I had the 12” version. This can often be found on compilation albums, it obviously has a following.
To me, the lyrics seem like an ode to the memories and fleeting moments of a better time, performances specifically. Which feels apropos when listening to this song in 2024. The 80s had such an amazing sound.
“Let Me In,” when Owen takes her to his hideout and they make the blood pact.
Yess 🥺🖤
I'm happy to see you are talking about this movie 🥺
Holy cow! L. Swoggs, I just commented on the same reference. (Wife and I watchin the movie [I've had since 2011] and I had to listen to it and the noticed these comments) that's cool!
@@steveussery7321 haha
I too was blown away by this song what a great taste of Welsh talent
This is still one of my favourite albums. This song is just mad good.
Musicians incredibly ahead of their time. I still listen to them regularly with the same pleasure. It was very strong but unfortunately totally forgotten in France today.
Marvellous is an understated understatement. What a brilliant tune
