Great to hear someone calling pop, pop haha. But great creative ideas here in your Prius c camper, I love the spare tire area storage that’s genius. Just bought a 2013 C
I drove my prius C for a 1,800 mile road trip and was surprised how reliable my little car is. This video is great ! Nice use of space. Any modifications to the suspension?
THERE HAVE BEEN NO MODIFICATIONS AT THIS TIME. HOWEVER, I DID PURCHASE SPECIAL ORDER SPRINGS AND HAD THEM INSTALLED, BUT THEY WERE 3IN HIGHER THAN THE ORIGINAL ONES AND MADE ME NAUSEAS DRIVING THE CAR. THEY WERE ON THE CAR LESS THAN 24HRS BEFORE I PUT THE OLD ONES BACK IN. I CALLED THE MANUFACTURER, AND AM CURRENTLY WAITING FOR THE CORRECT SIZE SPRINGS TO BE DELIVERED. THE SPRINGS WITH THE CAR ARE ONLY 160LB SPRINGS. I WILL LET YOU KNOW WHEN I GET THE NEW ONES AND HAVE THEM INSTALLED. (SORRY ABOUT THE ALL CAPS, I DIDNT KNOW THEY WERE ON UNTIL I WAS DONE TYPING, UGH, LOL!)
@@travelingonadime2361 I'd like to know how your springs work for you . I'd like to lift my Prius c at least an inch higher. What company are you using ?
@@commandplay I have not received my replacement springs as of yet, but spoke with Bill today from Valley Spring Works in California. The number is 1-707-678-3944 let him know Robert Farrell referred you if you call. They make special order springs, however you want them. The 800lb ones were way to aggressive so he is sending me 250lb ones in exchange. The manufacturer springs that came on the car are 160lbs.
Rachelle, Thank you for your interest. I cut the foam insulation I bought from home depot to fit the trunk area. This raised the back so when the seats lay down, it is even and flat. I then figured out what space I could use and how deep I could go. I used a torch to heat a knife up and cut into the insulation board as well as the vehicles foam that is on top of the spare tire. This allowed me to maximize the allowable storage space available. The storage boxes have a lip on them and they rest on the insulation board. And yes, they sit easily on top of the spare. I hope this helps. Thank you, Bob and Candy
I want to camp in my 2013 Prius C model 4. I want to hook up my CPAP sleep apnea device. I’m 5’6”. I bought a 60x80 4 inch memory foam. I’m going to fold it over so it will measure 60”x40”. I might try to camp WITHOUT CPAP machine. I was going to 5% limo tint my back windows. Good? Or should I build shades to place in each window? How often does the car turn on at night while camping?
Yes it's for the cooler and any other electronics like charging phones. I bought a battery box to put it in with a cigarette lighter and usb plugs in it. The battery charges while we are driving with a trickle charger and inverter which is plugged into the car cigarette lighter. The cooler is a kooltron 30qt.
The hitch is called hidden hitch reciever and wiring harness and I purchased it online at Etrailer.com. Due to the basket sitting low I purchased a trailer hitch reciever adapter 11/4 inch to 2 inch, 41/2 inch rise from the same place. I did have to hammer out the stop on the receiver to let the 4 inch rise slide in enough. The trailer hitch and wiring harness was very easy to install. Also check Ebay seller Hitchmart for these.
hey Bob!! where in NY are you?? i’m in between Kingston and New Paltz in Rosendale NY!! would love to come see your Prius C and do an interview for my RUclips channel!!
Hi "Johnny"! I am from Greece NY, a suburb of the city of Rochester. I have only driven through your area on the way to NYC, but there are a few places near you we would like to camp at sometime, such as Big Indian and Slide Mountain, just to name a couple. That would be great, please let me know when you would like to come visit and we can set up a date and time. Thank you again for your interest and stay safe.
There are many free camping and parking areas for overnight. We use the free camping app (it is blue with a car towing a trailer) and just put in our location and all places come up free, paid, and permit required ones. Note that the permit ones may be free or charge a small amount you just have to go to given website or call the number to register. I think they like to do this so they can check on people's safety. If you need any help like us on facebook and we can help you immediately. We all run into some road blocks at times and just need a few more eyes looking.

Nice work 👍
Thank you
Does the prius c have the same climate control options that work off the battery at night, like the classic prius model?
Yes it does. It kept us warm on that damp cool night. It didn't wake me up when it kicked on either.

Hi, thanks for the inspiration for traveling in my prius c in July! Curious - I'm assuming those items in the back sit easily on top of the spare?

Non freeway is 63 mpg
Great video

The deep cycle battery is for the cooler? what model cooler ? cooler works well?

Yes the cooler works well but ice packs help keep things colder.
