Does anyone else feel like Steve Winwood has so many bangers, yet is somehow still underrated?
Yes...from clear lake Iowa
it may be true but higher love is a popular one by him
Go check out some Traffic
As a 27 year old...
The Maestro is indeed *underrated* ! 🤨
100% yes
This was me and my husband's special song and now I can't hear it without smiling/crying and dreaming of him. My love passed away 7 years ago but because of this song he will stay with me forever.
Beautiful memory, in fact my Mother loved this song and Valerie too
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
🙏❤️🙏
Sending love & Prayer 🙏🏼❤️
Im so sorry you lost your true love. But with every new day there’s a miracle. Because you just know that the lord has made it possible for you and him to have met and shared something so wonderful in this life together. And at least you can say you had it perfect for a little while. And there’s always going to be a place in your heart for him. But he would want you to live and listen to the song. To live everyday as if it were your last. And he’s wanted you to be happy. And you can also say this, the lord loves him so much he couldn’t bare to have him away from him any longer. God bless
If Steve Winwood doesn't touch your soul with his voice, are you even alive?
Already he touched my heart❤
Yes he does he touched my soul when he sang higher love.
If it wasn't for Eric Prydz, goodness knows if - and when - would I ever come across the Maestro. 😄
he's got some of the greatest recordings ever heard !
This man is long overdue for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a solo artist. Steve Winwood is in the Hall as a member of Traffic. Come on Rock Hall! He deserves this honor.
Marjorie Dieudonne that is ridiculous for sure....this man is one of the all time greats
Rock & Roll Hall of Shame ! How do u spell NWA ? Semper Fi.
Hell YEAH
He IS in the Hall!
Agreed. I'd also like to know why he's not a knight.
His lyrics make so much sense. We need more “Steve Winwood” today in 2024.
Agree
Who's out there listening to Windwood what a great singer
Is it just me, or does Steve Winwood write the most inspirational songs?
+Jennifer Clark A lot of the lyrics(some all or most) from this period are courtesy of his collaborator Will Jennings.
+Jennifer Clark just you! ;)
No not just you
+Jennifer Clark Insightful, Inspirational in the truest definition.
+Jennifer Clark no, not just you...he is a poet-musician of astronomical soul....
What a great time in music. I love Steve Winwood
Woke up smiling thinking about this song...I had to hear it....the 80s were some of the best years ever.
Absolutely even though I was only 13 in the year 1990 I love 80's music doesn't get any better in my opinion. I do love GNR which carried over through '93.
Victoria V couldnt agree with you more :)
I agree, Victoria!!
Minus the gay ass Glam bands of the 80s ...It was a good decade for music
hope you managed to get over your homophobia kyle mc
Induct this man in the hall of fame.
This song reaches into your heart and massages your soul.
❤❤❤
Beautifully said
true... so calm and peaceful
Absolutely!
sorry am late.... Truly a beautiful song🙂
One of the most beautiful '80s songs ever. That intro is just... *sigh*
Is it just me, or does Steve Winwood write the most inspirational songs?

My heart ❤️❤️❤️. So cute! Nobody could rock a mullet like Steve ❤️❤️❤️
While there is time
Let's go out and feel everything
If you hold me
I will let you into my dreams
For time is a river rolling into nowhere
We must live while we can
And we'll drink our cup of laughter
The finer things keep shining through
The way my soul gets lost in you
The finer things I feel in me
The golden dance life could be
I've been sad
And have walked bitter streets alone
And come morning
There's a good wind to blow me home
So time be a river rolling into nowhere
I will live while I can
I will have my ever after
The finer things keep shining through
The way my soul gets lost in you
The finer things I feel in me
The golden dance life could be
We go so fast, why don't we make it last
Life is glowing inside you and me
Please take my hand, right here where I stand
Won't you come out and dance with me, oh
Come see
And lovers try
'Til they get the best of the night
And come morning
They are tangled up in the light
So time be a river rolling into nowhere
And they love while they can
And they think about the night so sweet
The finer things keep shining through
The way my soul gets lost in you
The finer things I feel in me
The golden dance life could be
The finer things keep shining through
The way my soul gets lost in you
The finer things I feel in me
The golden dance life could be
this was my wife's favorite song by Steve Winwood god rest her soul she loved to dance and that line in this song gets me every time. wont you come out and dance me I miss those days and on the other hand I am so glad we got to dance to this song at home and when we saw Steve live cancer is a real beast it does not care who are what it kills, I am glad my wife is not in any more pain and in far better place than I ever be I loved her more than life itself rip Sharon I pray every day I will get to see you again thanks Steve for that great song
@Steve Winwood not the same game again really you have to have something better to than this right give me a break ok
...just like that, it is 1987, I'm on a bus in Cincinnati, the sun is announcing a new morning, and life seemed to have possibilities. Wondering now if hope is only alive in ones youth...
not only in youth, but more inclined to youth…….is hopefulness. A lot to look forward to when you’re young, not so much when you’re on the downswing as an older person, this sums up my take. Cheers
Its hard to not be in a good mood when listening to this song .
Leslie Craig yep its one of those feel food songs!!!!
Excuse the language but fu#k yeah 😃
Great Point Leslie, Cool funky song, very upbeat.
True!
That keyboard solo solo damn !!!!!!! Funky
"l love Steve Winwood's voice and songs. Always loved him. "How my soul gets lost in you" is the greatest lyric ever. ❤
One of the most talented people in music
Although there are many songs that I like by Steve Winwood, I would say this is my favorite.
Totally!
God bless this man. What a great artist.
I can't hear this song without thinking about the movie "Date with an Angel". I love that this song was in that movie. I so miss the 80's... It was such a unique and wonderful moment in time that I will always think back on fondly.
SIMPLY TIMELESS WIZARDRY
Stevie Winwood is a human treasure
no matter how down you might be feeling this song just makes you appreciate everything you have ..

Such a great song, can definitely see why this won a Grammy award 🥇
classic..will never be be nothing like this type again..this type of music lives forever.
It sure does!
This song has one of the greatest hooks ever!
Hey Valorieeeee. I'm not sure how you could not feel a Higher Love for Steve Winwood and not want the Finer Things in life.
Excellent.
Ha ha. That''s funny.
If all that happened, then one could end up back in the highlife again
Youll be in the high life again

This song & Back in the High Life really helped me when I was pregnant and running from an abusive ex. Thanks Stevie from the bottom of my 💓. The baby is 31. U helped me run and save his life😂
Sure Cupcake 👌
All of Steve Winwood's songs were huge hits in the 80's. Everything top 80's bands were singing all his songs. They were blended in with Billy ocean, Simply Red, Madonna, Michael Jackson all of the great 80's singers. Taking a walk down memory lane now
B J Tomas this gay in love with you
They don't make music like this anymore.
Yes. It's a different era, with different music, what did you expect.
They sure don't! That was a time when the "industry" didn't tell artists what to sing.....
@@davidwooderson8182 There was a time when songs had enlightening melodies.
Not at all 😞
I hear you music like this man it's jus the so genius and breathtaking I love Steve Winwood music
This song takes you on a spiritual journey. There are many memories with this one.
No social media hype, no crappy TV show - just raw 1960’s talent!!!
Totally not from the 60s but okay....
Wrong again! At age 14, Winwood (then known as "Stevie" Winwood) became singer and keyboardist of the Spencer Davis Group. So Winwood achieved fame during the 1960s as an integral member of major bands: the Spencer Davis Group (1964-1967), Traffic (1967-1969
@@venenareligioest410 I'm saying that this particular song isn't from the 60s.
@@terrigaines1812 I said ‘just raw 1960’s TALENT’, I never mentioned the song.
I was too young to understand this song as kid but I liked it and now I love it. This intro is so nostalgic, it makes me want to “go out and feel everything”!
Same here. Nostalgia is a powerful drug
has a whole new meaning post- ’rona
Same here!! My mom used to play this in the car 😂♥️
Oh!!!man, talk about memoirs, Stevie thank you from the bottom of my heart, The Finer Things, is all I need
He had all the hits. Musical genius
I'm so blessed that I was able to see Steve Winwood sing this at his Higher Life Tour. He sang right to me ❤
Oh I love this man and his wonderful music ❤❤❤ Thank you so much!
What do you admire most about Steve
No one sings em like Steve!
Is it just me, or is this song just too short? :)
Single edit version, that's why.
Actually, it’s the video version. It starts like the album version, but it ends earlier than the radio edit. I’ve only played this on the air about 1000 times and it never gets old! But yes, it does and more abruptly
Yes, I thought the video had a two musicians dancing at one point..
Fantastic.
One of his best songs!
I always found this song so haunting. I look back at those days as a 62 year old today, and this song helped me go through some really hard days back then. Comfort during challenging times is always good.
There's something exceedingly sweet about the moment at 2:33 where the one band member hears "won't you come out and dance with me" and invites the other band member over to dance. Yes, it's contrived and wouldn't actually happen in a real live show because, you know, the band has parts to play. But it's still a very pleasant touch. "Yeah, we're supposed to actually be playing behind Winwood and doing our job. But we actually like the groove and each other enough that we'll listen to the lyrics and enjoy the moment." That's what makes the video to me.
It's 2023 and this song still rocks Steve Winwood is still the MAN ❤
Something just occurred to me, and that's how many Steve Winwood hits begin with a keyboard chorale, and how damn effective this is.
This is when music was at its best, people actually made songs about happy things!
I am down a Steve Winwood rabbit hole and it’s so good!
Oh wow!! I sure do miss Steve Winwood’s music. So relaxing. Yet so upbeat. I love this.
My favorite Steve Winwood tune
leave no doubt, the 80's were the best
Yes they were and they still live on!
I can't go one day without listening to Steve Winwood!!! I thank God every day that he put Steve Winwood on earth to sing!!! There's no finer thing!!!
One of Stevie's best songs! - My fave album of the 80's! - Top brummie with the voice of a black angel!!! ❤❤❤ Nigel Wellski.
His voice sounds like Steve Guttenberg.. every time i hear this song i picture Guttenberg with that cheesey smile on his face .
Beautiful song.
One of Steve Winwoods best ever! 👍😎
I would even say THE best.
I remember this song growing up as a child hearing it played by my father and also from the movie “Date With An Angel” which I fell in love with as well as this song. Great memories
Yes!! You're speaking my heart!

honestly my favorite song in the world. it was used in the 80's movie "date with an angel" - this song forever reminds me of running through a forest barefoot with beautiful surroundings, skies and animals.
The Finer Things - One of my favorite songs collection's from Steve Winwood.
I'm gonna throw it out there. Maybe the Greatest Musician of the 20th Century.....✌
This song is really touching especially in these times!
Missing the 80s here in 2024
This guy is an immense talent- "Gimme some love" was recorded when he was 14
After all these years I am still in love with this song and the album. It never EVER fails.❤️🇬🇧
A musical era of competition who could produce a good album or great hit.. what a time of calamity and amazement.
Miss the 80's!!!!
My condolences! Amazing vocal & arrangement! - so underrated! - top brummie with the voice of a black angel! ❤❤❤
Dear Steve. I just saw this video. What a Sterling performance.

Thank you Brian, and I just want to say now that my 16 year old son and his friends appreciate Steves music I wouldnt doubt if the "hit" number climbs much higher. Actually my entire family loves Steves music, it is a "staple" in our daily lives! Could go without salt and pepper, butter and milk but not Steve Winwood! Still listening to his Dear Mr. Fantasy,Gimme some lovin, and all his songs from 60's til now. If youtube was around in the 60's- 90's Steve would have a billion hits at least!!!!

Greatest musician should be in the hall of fame
He did get inducted his band Traffic😊
I absolutely adore this song. I was maybe 6 when it came out and my favorite movie was, "Date with an Angel." If you saw this movie, this song was in the movie.
+Evolved Rabbit The movie was made in the mid eighties. It may be hard to find... Cute movie though...
Stacy Korinek I was also about 8 or 9 when I first heard it as a kid in Date with an angel. I think the song is a year older than the movie, but I remember from the movie (when the movie was new). LOL. Shit I'm getting old remembering 30 year old movies. Even if I was a child! still makes me almost middle aged!
Evolved Rabbit if you liked Date with an Angel, I was able to buy it on DVD off Amazon a few years ago. I doubt if it's on BluRay, but you can get it on DVD.
YES YES REMEMBER THAT MOVIE!! SO MANY GOOD MEMORIES !!
Same!!!! ❤️❤️❤️
🎉Happy Birthday Steve Winwood
What do you admire most about Steve
I married my high school sweetheart shortly after graduating boot camp. I'm sure being married to me is not easy. Some consider me an asshole. Through deployment after deployment she has stuck with me. We have had our share of arguments from money issues to issues with the kids. A few days ago I asked her why she has stayed with me all these years. Kierra just looked at me and said because even with my big kid issues she can always count on me to make the right decisions. She asked me the same question and my answer was because as long as I had her I could count on myself making the right decisions. You only get one shot in life, make it a good one.
+Gary Schneider Keep plowing the field the crop will turn out right, live life with love, all else does not matter.Life is good

The Finest Music ever written and made 🙏✌️🌍
80s all the way, best times of my life, nothing can compare to the 80s
The man wove a fabric of songs in the 80's that you just can't get out of your mind to this day. They were melodic and happy songs with catchy hooks, always found myself singing along with a smile on my face.
Thank you Steve
This is one of my most favorite songs. I first heard it playing over the sound system of the Burbank Airport. Perfect setting with the planes roaring off into the Southern California sky.

Love, Love, Love Steve Winwood. Roll With it Baby, Finer Things, Back in the High Life, While You See A Chance etc.... wore out the His CD during a down time in my life. His music IS an inspiration indeed.
The good ones make it look so easy.
2018! Such powerful soul in his voice. I haven't heard this song in more than a decade. It always makes me smile to listen to it.
The Finest of Things....from Steve Winwood....Simply stunning and touching, with magic to your soul to the finest of things.
Carefree days......young...great car.....good music
Song reminds me of being a newlywed. Still married 28 years later. :)
Bless U,ur wife n family forever!!! Let's keep listening to Steve Winwood!! Papa...
That makes me smile. Kudos
This song hit the radio when I was 13, and at that time, my first reaction to the dreamy 30 second instrumental intro was goosebumps. Something emotional. At age 50 my reaction is the same. I would love to have that part (of the music) looped and then expanded into something more.
This intro always stops me in my tracks. Such great song. Wow. What a talent :)
Lyrics are great! Like a love letter to living life to the fullest "while there is time"
This was on a CD that walmart used for the in store music shortly before they brought the walmart radio back. One of the few songs that i could stand listening to every shift
This is one of those songs I play when I am in a really bad mood and it picks me up. I was born in 85 but I remember my parents playing all this music on the radio back then. We had all these cassette tapes. I miss those days.
Me too…86
Steve comes from a soulful background with Spencer Davis and Traffic, playing the hammond B-3, so when he switched to synths in the eighties he still had that soulful touch. Such a legend!
Love this guy!!! ❤
