it's because the bots move instantly. It provokes you to try to play just as fast and makes you feel like they're outplaying you even when playing dogshit moves.

the thing about playing against computer is sometimes it'll just make a completely random blunder that no 1600 would make.. like moving the king at 31:25. if you can get it in a position to repeat itself it will eventually just make some random losing move
On the counter-balance though they can also make unbelievable chains of engine-accurate moves that no human below 2700 would ever even consider, then give their rook away as if that somehow makes them a real 1200 or whatever.
@@mooncalf_4534 it is really hard for a computer to mimic human flaws. I'm sure they could do it better if they were programming their 1600 strength engine by using the games of 1600 humans but they might not have the money for that.
Hey! As a real-life 700, I promise you we aren't as stupid as the 800 bots. I pretty consistently beat 1000-level bots. I think they tend to go overboard when they decide to make a deliberately bad move.
True, and I feel it depends on the bot. I can beat Beth 2400, but I feel like Beth 2500 is way stronger than she should be. And Anna 2400 is way stronger than Beth 2500. Idk it’s weird.
I'm from the future. NL has become a solely chess channel. Here's a title from one of the future videos to prove it: Luna (age 5) absolutely destroys me in Chess
0:36 I have only seen up to episode 3. The first one brought to mind two great quotes: "Is drugs! (...) Drugs are bad. Not good for kids" -Costava, Jorji December 11th, 1982.
It is , the computers don't really follow a set plan like they should. I've heard they will start openings but will make a random move or leave hanging peices since the AI isn't very good.
As you can see on this video, when they get 1700ish they can start being pretty annoying. The first few levels (800-1300ish) make frequent blunders to give you a chance to win. At the higher levels those blunders turn into mistakes, then just mostly inaccuracies. They are usually a little easier than a real person for each rated ELO, but they never get tired or sloppy. I beat 2300 rated Stockfish on Lichess (level 6) once, and threw away a win (stalemate) by blundering a won endgame once, but that was a few hundred tries lol. Chessnetwork (he is a National Master) has video of him trying levels 1-8 Stockfish on Lichess. Level 5 almost beat him lol. (due to a blunder he immediately recognized, crushed it in a rematch) Level 6 pretty much had him but he won because it resigns after 152 moves. level 7 edged him out, and 8 crushed him. 2700 rated Beth beat Gothamchess (Levy), edged him out. So yeah you might have to crank it up slightly higher than your level, but the computer always has a level nobody can handle :) (the websites don't offer full strength, you'd have to download it to play it at 3600 ELO) st2udent the AI IS very good, it makes mistakes so you have a chance at winning. The higher the level, the less mistakes (number and severity) it makes.

I think if you get checkmated my the 15 year old her wining line is literally "You still have a lot to learn." or something like that. Would have been hilarious to for her to throw that back at him but when you resign the bots don't say anything.
Egg you gotta stop tossing your Queen out for the sake of the trade when you can eliminate the issue without the use of the Queen. Like you could’ve taken the knight with the Queen earlier, leaving your Queen out of the enemy queen’s attack range, and then their Queen would’ve been captured anyway. But you took the Queen with yours and got yours captured by that very knight
At 34:10 Queen to G5 prevents the pawn from capturing your knight via a discovered check. Edit: he found it AND he liked it! I'm so proud of myself lol

24:25 I didn't use an engine to check this but I think pawn take was better because it would pair up your pawns again and gve you a passed pawn that his rook would have been forced to block and maybe even sacrifice itself later on but when you simplified the position you lost that tension and allowed for less forced lines to develop. (Also you would have kept your attack on the then hanging g4 pawn )

At 33:25, couldn’t he have taken the pawn with the rook? Or is it bad to trade that at all? Sorry I’m really new to chess and that just looked better in my head
At 7:06 I actually had to pull up an analysis because I had an idea where you play Nd5 and if queen takes you have a fork between the king and queen to see if it was good, it's still playable if the opponent doesn't fall for it apparently so I felt good about that (I'm around 700)
