a blessed analysis would be him losing with 80%+ accuracy because he wouldn't nessicarily know how he was subtley outplayed.. rather than 1 move blunders.
Honestly, I do the same, or at least have a strong temptation to do the same. Analysing an excellently won game is just reliving your victory. Alas, analysing a poorly played and lost game is how you actually learn.
Just so you know the accuracy was way higher in games where your opponents were much worse, because punishing blunders are always 100 moves. When opponents get better you can’t really expect 90+ accuracy anymore.
When you're learning fighting games and you go from mashing to actually learning the moves, often times you get worse in the beginning. I feel like this is what's happening to NL and opening theory. Keep at it, man.
even tho nl says to take his analysis with a grain of salt the way he articulates chess stuff is the only way my smooth 800elo brain is getting wrinkled
He probably thought it lacked mass appeal. It seems that he’s wrong considering the reception that the series has been getting. Keep mashing that like button boys.
@@mp3545 I'd like to thank clubhouse games, he was kinda hesitant to even do clubhouse games chess, but when he did people gave pretty positive responses to it and it feels like it may have been the catalyst.
It’s not an NL chess video without a comment about the game being strange and a comment about being in time pressure with more than 5 minutes left. Gotta love it
"You gotta keep going 'till you win one" No that's the opposite of what you gotta do when you're on tilt. When you're tilting, the best thing to do is take a break and come back with fresh eyes.
This feels like all the Roguelikes NL plays, where once he gets comfortable, he starts rushing and making huge mistakes that he never made in earlier runs. Slow down Egg, we like you to walk us through each step
🤣😂 tilt? You were fully flipped! Flopped like a fish on the deck who is second guessing his decisions. Flailing engulfed in the turbulence grasping at air. That was throughly entertaining, even at 100% flopped level you’d still murder me. I am learning a lot I love this series thanks!
22:35 you were right, d5 is usually a pretty bad move in the dutch - d6 followed by e5 is usually a better long-terms strategy in this type of opening. unless you want to go for a stonewall dutch, but that would a completely different opening than Levy showed you
LMAO this episode was comedic gold! Especially that last game from 33:58 "YOU'RE PLAYING f4 now?? SEND IT! And it's working??" Something about this dude is just hilarious.
Watching NL fall into basic traps and get frustrated with the way his position worsens constantly in bullet chess is eerily similar to my experience playing the regular ten minute chess.
NL: "People might get bored with chess, let's play a bunch of meme games to spice it up." Also NL: "I don't know what's wrong with my brain, man." This is one of your most pogged series ever, you don't need to do anything to spice it up. The people love it.
NL if you play bullet again I would highly recommend premoving a queenside bishop fianchetto with the first two moves as black. It can respond to almost anything white does and throws your opponent off from book lines
Just for the record I am still enjoying the chess videos even though your having some off games. As a weird learning statistic that might make you feel better. When learning more on a subject they know well, they usually get worse for a small amount of time until they integrate the new information to the stuff they already know. Then they get better. So take the tilted play as an sign of coming improvement! Also at the very least it is enjoyable to watch lol.
i watched all the chess videos man :D they are great i found my self having fun and being entertained almost all of the time, but this video is the top :D Thank you very much for being so cool and funny, hope you have a great day
Hey NL why dont you try a time format with increment? my favorite is 15|10 so you can spend more time figuring things out, maybe less games in the video but maybe worth a try. Loving the content keep it up
"Push c, f, e, d" is a revolutionary new bullet chess strategy. The opponent will then just play fast as they are completely dumbfounded by the sheer audacity of you. Call it "The Eggsalted Opening".
I have the feeling that Isaac guy started using a chess engine to cheat near the end-game. His moves suddenly became perfect while he wasn't very good near the beginning.
Here is my analysis of your play this video, hopefully it helps you. I'm not a chess expert by any means, but I have watched every one of your chess videos so far, and I have a pretty good memory. You're tunnel-visioning your own plan rather than considering your opponent's plan, and when you do consider your opponent's plan, but they do something else, you just assume that they're being dumb instead of confirming that they're being dumb. You're not considering continuity, you're over-trading; remember, you *only* want to trade when you need to prevent yourself from being attacked, or when you're already up in terms of material. I would recommend re-watching your lesson with Levi, and trying to recapture the respect for your opponents that you had at that time. I think your main issue is that you're consistently underestimating your opponent.
Think queen side castle is good for very heavy attack type people. Opposite castling is really good for it after all. If you are on queen side with king then a pawn storm with the king side is effective
NL: *wins with 90% accuracy, analyses for 5 minutes*
Also NL: *loses with 15% accuracy, blasts through the analysis*
a blessed analysis would be him losing with 80%+ accuracy because he wouldn't nessicarily know how he was subtley outplayed.. rather than 1 move blunders.
"NO ANALYSIS, ONLY CHESS! WHAT'S WRONG WITH ME!"
Some serious 'see previous sentence to find answer to question' shit.
He's been telling you since the start that he doesn't really want to analyze when he blunders so bad.
Honestly, I do the same, or at least have a strong temptation to do the same. Analysing an excellently won game is just reliving your victory. Alas, analysing a poorly played and lost game is how you actually learn.
You've heard of speed chess, now get ready for speed analysis
This video should be called “Dan’s Revenge”
You mean Big Brother runner-up Dan Gheesling?
Just so you know the accuracy was way higher in games where your opponents were much worse, because punishing blunders are always 100 moves. When opponents get better you can’t really expect 90+ accuracy anymore.
"NO ANALYSIS, ONLY CHESS!"
That was pretty funny ngl.

When you're learning fighting games and you go from mashing to actually learning the moves, often times you get worse in the beginning. I feel like this is what's happening to NL and opening theory. Keep at it, man.
Ironically didnt NL try to get gud at MK11 when it came out? Or maybe Im misremembering.
all pros mash keys don't lie
Levy even said the same thing. Once you try to commit to learning a new opening, you get worse
I know you mean well by that but I think comparing NL's current play level to "mashing" is a little insulting.
@@user-vs6ck3ht5d It's probably closer to "he knows the inputs but not the combo strings".
You can turn off draw offers in settings, as some people use the popup to distract you and burn your time.
And let that last game be a lesson that NL NEVER loses 6 times in a row
Not on quarantine!
NorthernLion you are so good at chess, and you are very cool and have nice glasses and headphones.
Yes, Northernlion. You are a healthy human being whose vocal chords are functional.

NL could commentate paint drying and I’d watch it
He could just make a video where he silently eats a sandwich and I'd pog to the stratosphere... What the fuck is wrong with me?
Northernlion keeps forgetting his secret move, Grogs Gambit.

Levy Rozman: You trade too much for no reason
NL: I think i like the trade
Feels like NL has an aversion to taking the full center with both center pawns when the opponent allows it.
33:15 another good quote for Eggbot.
