Sorry guys, it was taken down and I had to repost it. Enjoy the ride.
I'm watching again. ❤️
Beautiful reaction - only just saw it today. This movie is one of my all-time favourites. :D
May I ask, would you consider reacting to TV shows? If so, may I recommend 'Westworld'? Again, it's a favourite of mine but to say that it has a AAA+ cast and a beautiful and thought provoking narrative would be an understatement. It's also written by Michael Crichton, the author of 'Jurassic Park'... ;)
Loved the way this film moved you. I had the privilege of seeing this movie when it was brand new, in the theater. During the very end during John's execution scene, the entire theater was awash with the sounds of sniffling, crying people. I have to this day never experienced anything like that in a movie theater.
A brilliant & emotional reaction. If you want a couple of great films that will get you laughing, please check out, Monty Pythons, Holy Grail. Followed by, Monty Python, Life of Brian. Two films that will have you laughing your butt off.
I have to say you did a great job editing this. Highlighting all the key moments. There are many movie reaction channels out there that should take notes from you on editing and being able to condense a movie into little clips that still reflect the essence of the film.
I have to say, your reaction was outstanding and real. I still cry watching this film, even watching people watching this film! It does stay with you forever. Stephen King is a master storyteller. And credit to all the actors in this film, they played their roles fantastically!! Even Sam Rockwell as Wild bill! You will be very hard pressed to find another film that will evoke the emotions this one did. But I would suggest "Fried green tomatoes at the whistle stop cafe." Or, "Intersteller." Keep doing what you do George, peace and blessings x
I STRONGLY suggest “Powder”. It’s just as powerful.
I would also give major credit to frank darabont for his exceptional talent on adapting Stephen Kings novellas into screenplays, and of course, his sensitive direction.
Fried green tomatoes please....so worth it.
just in case nobody's said it to you in a while, "Peace & Blessings" to you too! x
Don't worry brother, everybody cries at this. One of the most emotional films ever made. I was sure it was going to get you at the end. It got all of us. Just shows you have kindness and compassion in your heart which is never a bad thing.
Im from the US, 32 two years old born and raised in New Jersey and when John Coffey talks about people being ugly to each other all over the world, it makes me swell up with tears, and it does remind me to be patient and kind with people. We are all walking our own green mile, and some are more treacherous and painful than others.
25:23 he said "au revoir mon ami, je t'aime mon petit" or "goodbye my friend, I love you my little one"
David Morse, who plays Brutal, is one of my favorite actors. He is so underrated because he's usually in supporting roles. He was also in the Stephen King movie adaptation with Anthony Hopkins. "Hearts in Atlantis" is the name of the movie but the name of the story is "Low Men in Yellow Coats." Great movie. Another somewhat low supernatural movie.
And also in House. He was great in that although not liked like he was in this movie. Also in Contact albeit a small part but still impactful.
THANK YOU! I say this all the time! How has David Morse not become a household name? He is truly an incredible actor. From Green Mile to House.... and all of it in between, of course. He's absolutely brilliant.
One of the most underrated actors
And now Cabrini @@musicaddict5076
Not many movies have made me cry like this movie - and get teary eyed just watching the reactions to this movie - Stephen King is one hell of a writer!
I strongly suggest you watch “Powder”. It’s just as powerful.
@@eddietucker7005 is it powder from 1995..
@@kennethbrdk Yes! Have you seen it?! If you do, let me know what you think.
@@eddietucker7005 no but gonna see it now if possible 🙂
@@kennethbrdk I have it on prime and DVD. If you need me to send you money to get to watch it, just let me know. It’s that good.
I love how you let your emotions show. Such a touching movie. I never get tired of watching it.
I love your reactions, you don't talk over everything like some do. You watch and absorb it like the rest of us, that's what makes your reaction so special.
"He seems to have dropped from the sky." "They's angels ... just like there is in heaven." John Coffey's initials. Clues as to his origin and being? "I'm sorry for what I am", not "I'm sorry for what I did." Like you, I see the handshake Paul gave John at the very end bringing the story full-circle, as the two also shook hands when John first came to Cell Block E.
The experience of watching this in the theater was even more impactful than watching it at home. Everyone was openly sobbing. When Percy killed Mr. Jingles, their was an audible gasp, and when he told Dale there was no Mouseville, half the people yelled "you bastard!".
What about when he didn’t wet the sponge?
There are no vacalisations in the human tongue for what Percy did and WOULD have done...he was the OPPOSITE of JC....small white and unsuspecting but the Shape of Evil
This original publication of The Green Mile was released as a serial of 6 volumes, 1 volume a month for 6 months. I remember the anticipation waiting for each new release and how in the end it was all worth it. The movie is true to the book. Stephen King liked to do it different. Thank you for sharing your experience with us.
The script, production and great acting make it one of the very few films that are better than the book in my opinion. The only other one that springs to mind is the 1982 Bladerunner.
That was a GREAT REACTION!!! Thank you for watching The Green Mile!
Real men cry bro. Awesome reaction 👍
Before Dell's execution, he told Mr. Jingles "Goodbye my friend, I love you."
Thanks for watching this with us, George. That's a hard movie for me to watch, but I need a dose of it every once in a while. I wish everyone would see this and be affected by it the same way. The world would be a better place.
What a wonderful thought, Lloyd. I am strongly suggesting you watch “Powder”. It’s equally moving and has the same message. “Some people are just too good for this world.” Let me know what you think!
@@eddietucker7005 I've seen it back in the 90s. I remember it being moving. Thanks, Eddie!
When you finally let go and cried, that’s when you became a true man in my eyes. Please, don’t ever hold back your emotions. They are a part of life. Good feelings, bad feelings, sad feelings, love… they are what life is. Don’t miss a moment of it. ✨❤️✨
Every one of them deserved Oscars. Michael Clarke Duncan, RIP, especially. But every one of them. From Hanks, to the men who played Billy and Percy and David Morse who played Brute, who was also a wonderful man like Paul.
The entire film is a masterpiece.
"We each owe a death. There are no exceptions." I try and remember that every day.
Thank you !! That was the best, most real reaction to this movie I have seen. A lot of reviewers would have cut out the part of you showing a real reaction, real emotion. Thank you for being true to us, the film, and yourself, by leaving it all in .
Great reaction George. I can tell you have a good heart. Almost everyone cries for John Coffey, so you're not alone. Another great Stephen King adaptation with a character you will love to hate is Dolores Claiborne starring the great Kathy Bates. Check it out if you haven't already seen it. Take care until next time.
Technically, the movie is called Misery.
@@austingillum4807 No, Dolores Claiborne and Misery are two different movies from two different Stephen King books.
@@a.bevdfray6625 My mistake. Whoops.
One of the best reactions I've seen. You hit all the important parts of the story, no irritating blackout screen. It was perfect! 10/10
Amazing Reaction
You are absolutely right this movie will always stay with you...it doesn't matter how many times I have watched reactions to this movie or rewatch it on my own, I get emotional every single time...it is a masterpiece. The acting, writing music and special effects are some of the best.
Thank you for your reaction.👍✌
What a wonderful selection to watch for Good Friday, Smokey! I have made it a Good Friday tradition. Also, “Powder”. It’s also equally powerful.
Love the fact u chose scenes a lot of reactors cut out. Brilliant editing my dude. 👍🏽
Great reaction George. You are absolutely right about this movie staying with you. I've seen this movie many, many times and always have the same emotional reaction. The scene in the cell where Paul asks John what he should do gets me every single time. Such a great movie.
John Coffey was an empath, aside from a healer. He felt all people's pain, so the world was too heavy a place for him to exist. You can only imagine what it would be like to shoulder the pain of the entire world.
Forgive me for saying this if I have interpreted incorrectly having not read the book, even though I have enjoyed many of Steven King's novels. I am just going on the dialogue & storyline of the movie, which may vary from the novel as many screen adaptations do. I certainly WILL read the book when I get the chance.
I read this when it came out...in six seperate novellas, hated having to wait for the next installment 😬..and being an empath absolutely sucks 😐.
Much more than just an empath. Normal people have feelings and feel for others (unless they are psychopaths!). John saw the world through a childlike faith. It's not a coincidence that his initials are JC.
@@Fallopia5150 ...being an empath is not about having feelings for others, that is empathy...but an empath is feeling other's emotions.
Well said
I would add John Coffey was a Heyoke Empath.
So many films evoke an emotional reaction through the story telling, but this one is unique. Beautiful reaction from you
Thanks for re-loading this. It is a great reaction. And remember... try "Field of Dreams".
NEVER apologize for having genuine human emotions!
If more people reacted like that, there may be less hate and suffering in this world.
You will never forget this movie. Pass it on when needed
I've seen this movie at least a dozen times and I still get overwhelmed
The thing about life is that sometimes it seems so long at the same time that it seems so short.
So glad you've managed to re-upload this amazing, intense film, George. I enjoyed watching it with you earlier on today. I mentioned in my previous comment that Michael Clarke Duncan who played John Coffey, was friends with Bruce Willis (they were cast mates in the film Armageddon (1998) and it was Bruce's influence that helped to get Michael the role of Coffey in this film. Michael was just incredible in this film, so sad that he died in 2012 at the very young age of 54. Thanks so much for your great reaction, George, I know that I felt really emotional too, this film made such an impact and as you say, you will always remember it. Take care and keep strong.
The only other movie I've seen that makes me this emotional is we were soldiers. This film is an absolute masterpiece.
What is absolutely infuriating is... this film didn't win ANY of the Academy Awards it was nominated for
It lost Best Picture to American Beauty
Michael Clark Duncan lost Best Supporting Actor to Michael Caine in The Cider House Rules (no disrespect to Mr. Caine)
It wasn't even nominated for Best Director
It lost Best Sound to The Matrix (okay... yeah, I get that one)
It lost "Best Writing, based on previous publication" to The Cider House Rules
But seriously... to not win ANYTHING is an absolute travesty. At least The Shawshank Redemption was up against Forrest Gump.
Totally agree
Not to mention old Mr. Jingles makeup artist.
Perhaps, but the success of this epic movie certainly isn't anywhere near a disappointment. The real reward isn't being temporarily recognized by a specific group of people, but being written into history for your achievements. That lasts forever. Those awards are practically meaningless.
I've seen this movie 100+ times possibly, I watch it every time I see that it is playing. My reaction was much the same, I am emotionally moved every single time. Ironically, I have never seen any of the other movies that were nominated for awards at the same time as this one.
Shawshank is much better than forrest gump.
Before Del's execution, that French phrase he says to Mr Jingles is "Goodbye, my friend. I love you, my little one."
i love how everyone laughed at the guy doing the electric chair tutorial. even percy laughed, if you look carefully around 9:55.
Great honest reaction. This is my 7th reaction video from this film. Yours is the only one that made me cry. Now I have to subscribe to your channel and see what else you're watching. First of all, thanks for this good video. Especially that you didn't shorten it to 30 minutes, but included all the important scenes
That little bit of a French phrase Del says before his execution is "Je t'aime, mon petit" - I love you, little one.
Rudy (1993) is a great movie to react to after watching this. A feel good true story, and a tear jerker for the ones who love being inspired.
Rudy Rudy Rudy Rudy Rudy Rudy Rudy Rudy!!
'Philadelphia' is another deeply moving must watch movie. Philadelphia, Forrest Gump and The Green Mile are possibly Tom Hanks' best performances ever.
One of the best movies ever for sure, along with The Shawshank Redemption (also by Stephen King and director Frank Darabont)! Fine reaction!
Love your reactions. You always get it. Schindlers List is a movie that should be mandatory viewing worldwide. If you don't cry, you are a cold heartless person.
"1917" and "Dunkirk" are a few more emotional movies. They both display people at their best, in their darkest hours. It is a shame that we need war and tragedy to bring out the best in mankind. Great reaction George!
Amazing emotional dramas in my top 30 that rival Shawshank and GreenMile for feels:
1. Schindler's List
2. Umberto D
3. Grave of the Fireflies
Other awesome, more actiony/scifi films with big emotional moments, all good to react too:
1. Robocop
2. Goodfellas
3. 12 Monkeys
4. The Mist (by Frank Darabont)
5. Gattaca
6. Brazil
You cannot remain numb to this film; I have yet to know someone who has not reacted the same. Also, did you notice, John has the same initials as another angelic being? J.C. ? I think there is a point there that is in the book but left to arise by itself within the film. Also, John is covered in scars, from where? Who? When? Centuries? Truly wonderful film and Stephen King is truly, truly GOAT when it comes to original storytelling. Having watched you react to music so emotionally I knew this film would get you in the same way.
Well done on making it through. Would Patrick watch it? Even the ever cool Patrick would crumble, I do believe! x
I don’t know Patrick is, but I strongly suggest you watch “Powder”. It’s just as moving.
After The Shawshank redemption which is my top favorite movie and this one, new subscriber. Great reactions
I remember watching this when I was 10 and thinking how this is the greatest movie I'd ever seen. And it still is
Your reaction was i think what everyone felt. You said it yourself "its impossible not to feel in that moment". The actor who played Percy was one of the best villians in cinema history, he personified so many things in one character, a bully, a coward, a cheat, and worst of all, he had power. His quote of "i think of this place as a bucket of piss to drown rats in" perfectly symbolizes how he feels about the inmates. He does not see them as humans, they are vermin for him to torture and eventually kill. I think thats part of what makes him such an amazing villain. From moment 1, he is being a jerk, at times you even almost feel sorry for him, then boom, he goes back to his old self.
This was such a masterpiece of a movie, your reactions were great :).
Movies that evoke a similar reaction:
Sophie's Choice
Fried Green Tomatoes
The Color Purple
Graves Of The Fireflies
People never use the word ‘ugly’ to describe things. But it’s unbelievable well used by MCD (John Coffey) in this. Beautiful writing and one of the most amazing films that will ever be made
Don't EVER feel that you have to hold back emotions or your tears, when something moves/touches you, it is NOTHING to be ashamed of. I have watched so many react to this movie, and EVERYONE got emotional and some sobbed like I did the first time I saw it. Plus EVERYONE HATED Percy's character. I ENJOYED YOUR REACTION immensely. Your editing job was terrific and showed all the "key" scenes, that some reactors leave out. Most reactors do about a 30 minute reaction. That is not enough for a 3 hour movie.
When it comes to "QUESTIONS," MY question is, how old was John Coffey? Did you notice all the scars on his body from being whipped? Was he around during the time when slavery was common in the South? Was he whipped then? Was he alive when his powers would be considered some kind of witchcraft, and was punished for that? He had to be much much older than we could even think, and that would explain why he WANTED to die. As he said he was tired, tired of being alone with no one to travel with him, tired of all the ugliness people showed each other, and people in pain, etc.
I felt his execution was not as severe than as the first man, and certainly not the horrific one that Del experienced thanks to Percy. He had the typical (from what I hear) clenching reaction of his body . That is not to say that that it was painless, but again, not like the other two. Also, I feel that since he WANTED to die, perhaps he "went" much quicker than usual, which would be a blessing. I have seen this film so many times, and it STILL has me crying. But it IS such a remarkable, thought provoking and in a way, beautiful movie.
I wonder did you notice that there may be a metaphor for Jesus, in Coffey's character? His initials are J.C., he has been whipped, he has cured people ("Paul" and "Melinda") and raised the dead (Mr. Jingles)? After all that goodness, he is ultimately executed.
When he is found holding the dead girls, he says "I tired to take it back, but it was TOO LATE." That suggests to me that the girls had been dead too long, for his powers to possibly save them. When Percy stomped on Mr. Jingles, he asks for the mouse right away, as he said, "Give him to me, there may still be time, since it JUST HAPPENED. SO I wonder, IF he had found the girls immediately after Billy murdered them, would he have been able to save them? We will never know. I would like to know too, HOW he received those powers, was he born that way, did he have them as a child.....he had to have been alive for hundreds of years. I think it could make an interesting back story.
You are not human and you don't have a heart if you are not touched by this movie, The acting by all in this movie was incredible
I watched this movie in a theatre with a bunch of hormone-raging young adults yelling and having a good time. In the end, there was dead silence and you could hear a pin drop. It's one of only 2 times that I personally experienced a movie emotionally affecting an entire theatre. The other movie was "The Color Purple" which you must eventually watch. Great reaction...enjoy your channel.
Stephen King can sure write a story! Love the story series and the characters he creates! This movie is great too.
Thank you for appreciating this movie... I'm anxious to see more of ur movie reactions! 💚
Words are such meager things sometimes George...
There is a before and after I watched this movie 24 years ago in cinema. Still my favorite to date.
There are only a handful of movies that get to me like this: “The Green Mile”, “Schindler’s List”, “Hacksaw Ridge”, “Million Dollar Baby”, “Roman Holiday”, “We Were Soldiers”, “Taking Chance”, “To Kill A Mockingbird”, “Breakfast At Tiffany’s”…some in very different ways.
Goog Will hunting
Did you try "The Land Before Time", or "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind"? Those two got me the most.
When John arrives he shakes Paul's hand. I think that is why he told him that he tried to help, but it was to late. By shaking his hand he saw what a good man Paul was. Just like he saw what a bad man Wild Billy was when he touched him.
25:23 - He's saying : "Good Bye my friend. I Love you my little one"
Your reaction was so moving. It only proves you are human. We all felt that way. You are also so intuitive-Bless you. You can see why Tom Hanks is such an amazing actor.
🥺😭it's cinema like we don't do any more. that the director and the performance of the actors make us cry like this through a virtual work in 3 hours when we don't know these people personally, it's just extraordinary. It is certainly the most moving film I have seen. I'm crying just seeing your video is your reaction. thank you again for this moment and this video. and sorry for my english i use google translate. this film is a masterpiece💗
This and Shawshank are the two most jolting movies I’ve ever watched. I watched both with you tonight and it was a journey. Thank you
Another great storytelling by Stephen King is an older film, Stand By Me. Great watch.
Sam Rockwell (wildBill) is an absolute SuperStar! I have grown to love this actor, He is genius in everything.
It is the greatest movie ever
I guess this is a reupload? Watched your reaction last night 😉
This was your best reaction imo... I enjoyed crying along with you.
Masterpiece
I have watched your reaction to this movie and to The Shawshank Redemption. These are my two movies I use as a litmus test to see youtubers reactions and whether or not I will subscribe to them. Your reactions were spot on. Great reactions to both. BTW...A real man can and does cry. Keep us the good work.
I read the book before the film was made. There is an extended backstory of Arlen Bitterbuck's story as well as the other prisoners. The book is amazing.
Empathy is a great thing, it's good that you lost a little control it speaks to the state of your soul.
This film/book
Is one of if not the greatest creation ever given
I sobbed watching you watch this. This movie hits right in the heart and never leaves. To this day, I can't watch Del's death scene--even in your reaction, I had to skip past it. Subscribed.
When Melinda asks John where did he get his scars and he says "I hardly remember', that will help you at the end. How old is John Coffey? Maybe over 100 years old and got those scars as a black slave. Who knows how old he is. RIP Michael Clarke Duncan If you would like to see one of the last time we saw Michael, was when he paid tribute to Tom Hanks at a Lifetime Achievement Award to Tom Hanks. He does talk like John Coffey too. ruclips.net/video/47grTxhtN8o/видео.html
Edouard Delacroix said to Mr Jingles the mouse , in French : "Je t'aime, mon petit ", means," I love you my little one ".
Tom Hanks is one of my favourite actors. He excels in every role given. Please put these movies on your list, Philadelphia, Captain Phillips, Castaway.
And .. he's playing Cornell Tom Parker in the upcoming Elvis movie. Can't wait for June when it's released
You made me cry ,!I was holding my own till you ,cried, its a brilliant film,
It's not just an innocent and pure man being executed that hits so hard. The movie touches upon other themes that resonate, like how much pain and suffering there is in the world, and the power of compassion. This movie has the power to remind us of our empathy and compassion for the suffering of others.
25:23 TRANSLATION : _" _*__*_ Goodbye my friend. I love you."_
I think I have watched over 20 reactions and I still laugh every time : OH Lt. Dan ! haha
It's impossible to keep the tears from falling. This movie is brilliant---and Stephen King's gift for characters and plot-lines is top tier. I wonder if you have ever seen "One Flew Over The Cuckcoo's Nest" starring Jack Nicholson. It's a fabulous book and movie. It's from 1975, with tremendous actors; it's very funny and very powerful. Even if you don't do it for this channel, please find a time to watch it. You will never forget it.
You have the most authentic reactions and I just love your reactions. I have to say you're the best RUclips reactor.
I think the perfect film 🎥
Another great movie with a beautiful story that will make you sob (well, I did) is "Powder" from 1995 with Jeff Goldblum and Sean Patrick Flanery.
Thank you so much for being so genuine with your reaction.
Great reaction, George. I've been following you and Patrick on the music reactions from the beginning, so it's nice to hang out with you virtually and watch these cool films. Time for bed now, I'm tired boss, dog tired. ✌️🎬
Young Man I thoroughly enjoy this channel 💜 Thank you for sharing your honesty and emotion no matter what you're watching. You are a joy!
This is my favorite reaction of yours, and I come back to it every so often. You should do more reactions in general- you haven't posted in a while :)
Nice reaction. _I saw this the first day it was released in 1999. He should have won the Oscar-Michael Clarke Duncan. This didn't win Best Picture either. One of my all time favorites.
Great Reaction ❤ you're feeling just how we all felt watching this movie.. you're quickly becoming one of my favourite reactors 👍
This was during the great depression, medical treatments were often worse than the ailments, that’s why he didn’t want to go see a doctor. No antibiotics yet.
A good man never tries to hold his emotions and tears in. He shares them with the world, and that is his gift. Thank you for showing us your goodness…
I would suggest that you watch “Powder”. In my view, It’s just as powerful as this film. It has a similar message, “Some people are just too good for this world.” That’s how I try to live my life, knowing I will always fall short. I’m only a human… but I try.
It was amazing to had watch this movie tougher, it was easier to watch. Love you George. ❤️😇
"I'm sorry for what I am".... 😭
Perfect perfect reaction...God bless you for your empathetic reaction...
I'm glad you were able to re-upload the video...
When you see a Steven King novel/film always expect the unexpected...

The film "What dreams may come" is a great one to react too 👍
Bridge of Spies, an often overlooked Tom Hanks film. Was excellent.
For many, this movie need be viewed only once. It's FOREVER in your mind after. It was kind of amazing watching you have that moment....that moment forever changed you & further shaped your humanity. Thank you for sharing that with us! It was just beautiful. 🙂
