Thank you so much! My favorite theme song from my childhood. I had a crush on Steve - yes, I know he was a puppet, but the heart wants what the heart wants. :)
Fireball XL5 came to Bombay, my hometown when I was in my teens. Totally elevated me, especially the theme song by Don Spencer and music by Barry Gray literally transported us to the Fireball XL5 spaceship. This video is a great video presentation lending the much deserved nostalgia this show deserves. Kudos my kind man :)
Aaah mate you brought some tears to my eyes listening to your music, you brought back so many wonderful memories to an old 66 yr heart. Thank You very much mate from Sydney, Australia.
Thanks Allan, appreciate the kind words. This show was a little before my time but it is obviously very popular all around the world. This video alone from 2016 accounts for about 15% of the total views on my channel. Take care and best wishes from England, Neville
Thank you Kevin, glad you enjoyed it. Even though I have over 150 uploads this one from 2016 is by far the most popular. The show seems to hold a lot of special memories for many people. Best wishes, Neville
Myself and older brother Dougie watched this program back in the early 60s Magic, our Aunt took us out to buy any record we wanted Dougie got Fireball XL5 and I got the Z-car tune and 60 years later I still have it but Fireball XL5 flew away years ago, in Memory of my Brother Douglas Brown who passed away last night 5/2/22 RIP Big Brother love you to the moon and back
Fireball XL5 was my favorite TV programme when I was a youngster, and the instrumental version of the theme you played on this clip was the motivation to learn to play the guitar 45 years ago, still playing, still frustrated some times, but still loving it. Nice take on the theme! Thanks for posting.
Hi David , thanks for the kind words and great to hear from you. I haven't been trying to play for quite as long but not far off. Coming up 40 years. I decided to start playing again about 4 years ago after hardly touching my guitars for about 25 years. I was amazed to discover how much things have changed, the availability of backing tracks makes playing without a band much more enjoyable and the fact that you don,t need a recording studio , just a laptop..... All the best, Neville
It's Friday night and been on the razz after a long stress full week (retirement can't come soon enough) but this version always brings a smile to my face and such happy childhood memories
Hi Bob, sounds like a good night! I went to see a Queen tribute act last night at a local theatre, absolutely note perfect but it somehow left me a bit cold. Enjoyed the curry afterwards however...…. take care, Neville
Thanks very much Eugene, I think I used an Alesis Quadroverb GT on this upload programmed with "Echoes From The Past" by Charlie Hall. Best wishes, Neville
Nicely done . . . I loved Fireball XL5 as a kid, even was lucky enough to get the toy set for Christmas. Nice sounding Squier Strat you got, love the color as well.
Thanks! (Apologies this comment has only appeared this morning yet says it was sent 5 months ago?) The guitar is the Squire Hank Marvin Signature edition made in Japan in the 1990's. This video was from 2016 and this is the guitar before I later modified it. Best wishes, Neville
Excellent video Mr. Worthington . You have magic in your fingers . Brough back the school days memories . Love and Respect 💓 from Mumbai. I wonder why the 5 thumbs down for such a sweet video
Thank you very much for your kind words and also your subscription. This is an old upload from 2016, there are many more uploads since but none quite as popular as this one! Best wishes and stay safe, Neville
Hi thanks very much, I am not sure if the link to the tab still works (it was Google + which I think has closed down), happy to email a copy. All the best Neville
Cheers Mike, thanks for taking the time to comment, I missed this series and it was the later Gerry Anderson stuff like Captain Scarlett and Joe 90 that I remember the most. Best wishes, Neville
Other than the original, this is the best rendition of this insanely catchy tune I've ever heard. I particularly like the opening, before the main theme. Well done Sir !
Hi thank you very much for taking the time to write your kind words. I am interested to know how you came across this video in the first instance, it seems to attract a much wider audience than my other uploads which have a niche appeal to lovers of guitar instrumentals from the 1960's. It has puzzled me for a little while how this one seems to get more exposure. Thanks again, Neville
Well, I'm 53 and grew up with these shows. I have a 9-year-old son and was getting pretty disgusted with the quality of children's programming these days, so I introduced him to the Gerry Anderson Supermarionation series and he loved them. Found your video this way. I particularly loved your interpretation of this tune due to the very clean and minimalist sound that captures the essence of 60s retro-future sci-fi themes.
Thanks for getting back, appreciated. Great to hear that that your son is into these shows. It was more Captain Scarlett and Joe 90 for me!. Thanks again and best wishes, Neville
Hi Derek, thanks very much, appreciate the great comment. I never saw this one on the TV but I grew up with the later Gerry Anderson stuff like Captain Scarlett and Joe 90. All the best, Neville
I'm 66 just learning and I keep finding tunes I'd like to learn, then can't find the tablature, which is very frustrating. This is a fun tune, not too difficult and wow! There's the tablature too. Thank you so much.
Hi David, many thanks and you are very welcome. I only use tabs occasionally myself. What I do recommend (and apologies if you are already aware of this) is free software such as "Amazing Slow Downer" or "Chordify" which allow you to slow down melodies and gradually build up to speed. They also let you loop and repeat short passages at a time. It is all much easier than back in the day sitting next to a record player lifting the arm on and off to learn a song! I would also recommend Goran Tangring.com website which offers many free tabs and backing tracks for Shadows and Spotnicks instrumentals. I have about 80 videos on YT now and try to upload a new video about once every fortnight so hopefully you will come across a couple more to learn. All the best and good luck, Neville
Thank you very much Neville, I shall have a go at it this weekend. Tabbing it out by hand takes a long time, I very much appreciate you taking the time to help out. Thanks' again. David.
My sister and I loved this show. We would watch it on our familiy's blond cabinted black and white Westinghouse t.v every Saturday morning. I would sing that song all of the time in elementry school and around while riding around base housing on my bike at Stead A.F.B. in Reno Nevada in 1962 through 1963. I was 6 years old.
hi James, thanks for stopping by, I really enjoyed reading your perspective. This video and the two other Gerry Anderson themes I have uploaded seem to resonate with people. I just need to manage to achieve that with my other stuff...… Take care, Neville
Thanks for stopping by, appreciate the comment. I have recorded a couple of other similar TV Themes you may be interested in. These are the themes from "Captain Scarlett" and "Joe 90" All the best, Neville
Hi Randy, thanks very much, appreciated. I never caught this on TV it was more Thunderbirds and Captain Scarlett were my favourites. All the best, Neville

Thanks very much Ernie. An early post from 2016 and by far the most popular. I think the TV show holds a lot of memories for people. Best wishes, Neville
I've only seen this now. Either I was distracted or my account is playing jokes. It was supposed to be a good TV series for kids, and the theme song is very nice. Sometimes in certain programs the musical themes were better than those published as latest hits. Ciao, Neville, good evening and new week. Pino
Hi Pino, thank you. This upload from 2016 is by far my most popular video and provides over 10% of all my views. I Wish I knew how to repeat it's success.... Regards, Neville
Thanks very much, yes it is a Squier Hank Marvin Signature guitar made in Japan. This video was made in 2016 and at that time the guitar had the original pickups. For the past couple of years (and on a few more recent uploads) I have had it fitted with Kinman pickups. Best wishes, Neville
Great job, Neville -- Gerry and Sylvia Anderson were the greatest! Would love your tab, but Google Plus seems to be shut down. Is it available anywhere else?
Hi if you send me an email address I will forward the tab on, it is only a handwritten tab, originally done as a memory aid to myself, but hopefully of some use, regards, Neville
I'm 63, 64 soon and, this brought back a lot of fine memories, thank you, very much: a true delight. [I can still sing it... shhh.]
Cheers Neil, not far behind you at 61😊and grew up with probably the same TV shows... Best wishes, Neville
just did a vocal redition of the theme song, for the hell of it: it's here, under my name, as is other stuff... like aqua marina, my first love.
I’m 65 and this brought back magical memories. Beautifully played - thanks!
Thanks Kerry, appreciate the comment, regards, Neville
Thank you so much! My favorite theme song from my childhood. I had a crush on Steve - yes, I know he was a puppet, but the heart wants what the heart wants. :)
Thanks Rebekka, much appreciated, take care, Neville
Like we boyz had a crush on Marina or animated characters like Cheetara.
Rebekka , as a kid I had a big crush on Venus and always wished of dating her . A million thanks to Mr. Worthington for this melodious tune
@@Realmasterorder Marina was in Stingray.
Naw ... the best theme song was _Underdog!_
the second best was _Stingray,_
and the third was _Fireball._
