They have to be performed actively so that the muscles are strengthened, and if the muscles are not strong enough to do any of the exercises, you ask for someone to help you with them by applying some of their own strength to your movement. Lilianinafrica; this is three years later. But, I hope your hip situation has improved.
I’m week three post op. And still trying to manage the excruciating pain. Thankfully my surgeon hasn’t been stingy with the narcotics. Yep, I’m still taking oxycodone. I’ve never experienced pain this intense ever! And I’ve had some painful surgeries. Intestinal herniation that required a one week stay in hospital. Recently had kidney stone removal surgery. Still not as painful as this THR.

@@hoosierbaddy3052 sorry, to hear you have pain. My pain didn't go away and I went for an opinion from another surgeon and he looked at the X-ray and wasn't happy with it and on top my leg was a bit shorter but he didn't critizised the former operation but recommended a new one. That left me quite distraught and I didn't have the guts to undergo a new op. After some months I remembered that I went in 2013 to a wellknown surgeon because I had terrible sciatic pains and he recommended a hip replacement but I didn't listen to him. I thought, hip replacement is for very old people, how wrong I was. I looked through my notebook of 2013 and found his name, made a booking for an X-ray and he examined it and shook his head and said, they should have done it different, I made an appointment with him and had a revision op and was out on the 3rd day, walked one week with a crutch and never looked back. That was September 2020 and now my other hip hurts and it scares me to have another devastating fall and as a prevention I booked end of this month and hopefully everything will be alright. I let you know.

Hlw sir/mam...it's totally depends on which approach is taking during surgery....if we tallk about hip surgery...if it is cemented we can start physiotherapy with in 24 hr. Nd we also initiate standing....but if surgery is uncement...then wit fir 3-4 weeks...only ankle toe pump physiotherapist suggest.....and the exercises regime totally depends on your therapist...what they want to achieve in patient....

Exactly what I was thinking. Didn't mention how many reps and sets to start with and when to add sets. I have a masters in Kinesiology , a trainer 24 years, and owned my own facility. I went back and replayed the beginning again in case I had missed it. The information for exercises is well done. Explains the movement, body placements , things you should not feel etc. This is not my first replacement so I have an idea but that little bit of information that would have taken zero extra time because after 3 replacements and 3 spine surgeries I now edit. lol. Maybe Heartland could add the information down in the description?

FridayNightGlory I imagine it would be what you are comfortable with. You should have been given instructions upon leaving hospital from the physiology department as to how long per day you should exercise? I was advised 20minutes of exercises very similar to these. I broke the femoral neck on my right hip and also my pelvis. I didn’t have a replacement; I was ‘young’ (17) & I would ‘heal fine’...10 years of constant pain later - here I am. Starting at the beginning again.
