    Just found these. 6 weeks post anterior approach. I can do most of these. I definitely will keep them in mind. The chair is hard when doing it the proper way he said. The straight leg gave me stabbing groin pain so i will have to work up to that.

    I am doing the leg lift on my back right now, along with other exercises. However, I'll be adding the other 3 into my daily routine. I'm months out from a hip revision and am still working through pain and strengthening muscles. Thanks, guys!

Stairs no problem and doing a lot of leg exercises similar to your demonstrations. Three weeks in just can't wait for my limp to go away I imagine the swelling still needs to subside? Pain after surgery wasn't more than a 2. I've waited for oil changes longer than it look them to replace the joint and I went home the same day. Good point about the flexion hip precaution when standing up from the chair. Although, I'm not too convinced on the hip abduction exercise as the eccentric phase involves crossing the midline of the trunk (which falls into the adduction hip precaution). Don't get me wrong, it looks like a great exercise when the patient is at a phase with NO hip precautions... but not while there are hip precautions in place. (< maybe needed to reiterate that in the video)

    Im just over two weeks from a bilateral total hip replacement. I'm 49 years old and have been working through pain for years preop so I was able to get pretty far along with therapy quickly. I ditched the walker about a week after surgery and was up and down my stairs three days after the operation with the handrails and cane of course. These are great exercises and I can do them all already but wanted to ask just because I am able to, should I be doing them at this point?

    Had bi-lateral hip replacement about a month ago, posterior approach. Doing well, so far no complications. Is it safe to do the hip abduction exercises (where you lay on your sides and raise your legs)? I'll be seeing the doctor for my 6 week checkup in two weeks. Once he clears me I would like to try this exercise, but worry about rolling over on my side, when I don't have a good side to roll over onto.

    1.5 to 2 years into a Hip Replacement and PAIN. Promised I would have no pain and I have had the most ever in my life since my surgery. ??? Just is. Not sure but I sit all day in traffic in NYC and I have a nerve issue, stenosis in lower spine now. Didn't before have an issue but was on meds. Wonder if you have more Long Term exercises to get rid of pain. I know exercise itself loosens it and helps but can cause irritation later on that day. ???

    I got a hip replacement 11 month ago. Since 4 month I notice a “crock crock” sound when I move my leg with the hip protesi to the side or to the front.

    What should be done if the exercises for the replacement hip aggravate the other hip ??
    Had a right hip replacement. Ortho Doc says both hips are bad so did the worst hip first. Rehab was going well till I advanced to the lower body exercise machines. Exercise really aggravates the left side, especially when lying down trying to rest. In addition to walking, I'm mainly focusing on the right side only. Not sure if this is good or not - may cause an imbalance ???
    My right hip was replaced 4 months ago and plan to do the left hip - probably in the Fall. Is there a recommended time span between surgeries ??? Thx !!!

    • @hesj67
      @hesj67 8 лет назад

      +physicaltherapyvideo Thx for your kind response. I was doing water therapy before the Holidays which worked pretty well till the PT added lower body exercise machines which really aggravated the left side. Plan to go back in the pool as probably won't do left hip replacement till Fall. Primary Care also suggested limiting walking and to focus more on cycling.

      +physicaltherapyvideo Thank you for replying Dr. I am actually 10 weeks post op but my PT with a professional only started last week. I have stop that particular exercise and scared I may have fractured something as walking is painful again since that exercise. Funny as I was doing the first exercise you demonstrated and was getting on well with that but the side one just proved way to much I guess. Thank you once again for replying. God Bless.

    Worst they'd ever seen, surgeons did both my hip replacements same time and i was back to work on 4 days, modern technique is amazing.

    I am 3 years post op full hip...can I dance?

      I'm three years post-op as well and I practice salsa on2 and tango argentino every week. I've practiced ballroom dancing too. I think that dancing is a great way to regain some of the perception of your body in space lost due to thr. I usually feel better after dancing :-) Unfortunatelly my thrs give me a lot of pain, but at least they let me move quite freely...

      It sucks but it will get better. Just keep doing the PT religiously. Even on days when you really don’t want to just try and do a little or at least do the stretching exercises
