Hiii so I've been watching alot of your videos and they're amazing & super informative. I tend to get a bit overwhelmed with information sometimes and there's just so many skincare products I dont even know what to use anymore. This is my skincare routine at the moment: AM: - Pacifica vegan ceramide cleanser - Pyunkang yul toner/essence - The ordinary Argireline solution 10% - Moisturizer - elta md broad spectrum SPF 46 PM: - Heimish all clean cleansing balm - Pacifica vegan ceramide cleanser - Pyunkang yul toner - The ordinary Niacinamide 10% & 1% zinc - Moisturizer - The ordinary retinol 0,5% in squalane (retinol only 2-3x a week on days when I dont use salicylic acid) 2-3x a week when I dont use retinol: - Heimish all clean cleansing balm - The inkey list Salicylic acid cleanser (I used to use this cleanser every evening but I felt like it was too much?) - Paulas choice 2% salicylic acid liquid exfoliant - Niacinamide (?) - Moisturizer I do have quite a few questions now 😅 1. Is niacinamide better in the morning or the evening? Since I have an spf with niacinamide in it, I thought it be better the use the niacinamide in the evening? 2. Can I use the niacinamide when I use the retinol 2-3x a week or should I leave the niacinamide out on those evenings, what is good to use with retinol? 2. I've also read its better to use argereline in the morning since the effects may dont last that long! 3. I have issues finding a good moisturizer, I always thought I had oily skin but I also feel like its dehydrated, usually only my forehead gets oily fast, sometimes my nose or the parts beside my nose so I guess it's combination skin?? I'm 26 and my main issues are very visible fine lines on my forehead, tiny bumps/textured skin on my forehead and I have some pimples here and there, What kind of moisturizer would you reccomend? 4. Should I use more hydrating serums? I just started including the Pyunkang yul toner since it seems to have a lot of good benefits and is hydrating.. on days when I use the salicylic acid products what kind of serums can I use with them or do I not need any? Sorry for all these questions haha
Hello 🙂 1. The question is how much Niacinamide does the skin really need to show improvements, so nobody really tested this; therefore, it could be 😉. 2. From my experience, retinol works best on its own, so not using any products in the same routine, even a moisturizer, is questionable unless you really experience dry skin or if the skin becomes dryer with continued use. But better would be to reduce the frequency of the retinol to only a few times a week. 3. Yes, it looks like they are only temporary, so it may be better to use them in the morning. Still, they may show long-term anti-aging benefits. 4. Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel is great (available fragrance-free if needed), or one that I recently tested is G&G Hydration station which is one of the best formulations I have tried so far and very affordable. 5. Only if you feel the need; I mean, all of them contain hydrating ingredients already. So there is really no need to add more hydration or a moisturizer if you do not need it; skincare companies mainly do it to sell you additional serums/products you do not need. So it is primarily a sales pitch/marketing.
Hi Melissa ❤ I want to use cerave blemish control cleanser and gel in my skincare routine as I have acne and blemish prone skin as well as bumpy skin due to enlarged pores. What mosterizer do you recommend to be used along with these? And also please recommend a good sunscreen.
Hey! 😊 I recommend getting a gel-type moisturizer, like the new one from CeraVe or The Ordinary NMF + Beta Glucan. Also, how often you can use this cleanser and the gel depends on your skin tolerance. Therefore, I also recommend getting a regular cleanser like CeraVe Foaming Cleanser to alternate with the other cleanser when using the gel; otherwise, it might be too much.
Your gel doesn't just contain BP; it also contains Adapalene, right? If that's the case, I recommend using a non-SA cleanser, like CeraVe Foaming Cleanser. Use your SA cleanser + Niacinamide product + SPF in the AM and a regular cleanser + Epiduo Gel in the PM.
I am quite new to skincare but lately, I've been researching on CeraVe products that I can buy to use on my skin. I have "sensitive" oily skin, I usually get a lot of breakouts on my nose, mouth, and chin area. I have a lot of blackheads on my nose and cheeks and some in between my eyebrows, forehead, and mouth. I of course have white heads too. I think that this cleanser can help me out, but since you are experienced in this, can you recommend me a cleanser and a moisturizer? I am thinking of buying the CeraVe retinol too but idk. Thank you!
AM: Clean face with CeraVe Blemish Control Cleanser. Pat dry. Apply The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA (Hyaluronic Acid). Wait 1 minute. Apply sunscreen if exposed to sun (for example, NIOD Survival 30 or Good Molecules Mineral SPF 30). PM: Clean face with CeraVe Foaming Cleanser. Pat dry. Apply CeraVe Retinol. Wait 2-3 minutes. Apply The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA (Hyaluronic Acid) if dryness occurs, otherwise, you can skip it.
@@oibbyy7992It would be best to avoid using CeraVe Blemish Control Cleanser and Retinol in the same routine. I mean, it may work since it's not a low pH cleanser. However, using them together and/or too frequently can cause dryness and sensitivities. Still, it depends on your overall skin tolerance, so test it.
@MelissaVanDijkOfficial Retinol is something that I might buy later. At the moment I want to get the basics, a cleanser, a moisturizer, and a sunscreen.
@@oibbyy7992 Ok, that's fine. In that case, you do this: AM: - Blemish Control Cleanser - (Optional) Gel Moisturizer (like The Ordinary one with Beta Glucan) - Sunscreen PM: - Blemish Control Cleanser - Gel Moisturizer (like The Ordinary one with Beta Glucan)
Thank you Melissa for the video. I have oily skin with red acnes that tend in to black spots.especially if I eat oily foods like ground nuts, diary products immediately I got my face with full acne. It's been a month since I'm using the foaming cleanser AM and PM with the ordinary niacinamide 10%-zinc 1% and also SPF 30.But before a week my skin has gotten rough and dry.The worst part I have big acne as it is very painful, that I've never experienced before. What can you advise me for my routine care?
Hmm, ideally, you should avoid such foods entirely, if possible. That alone could resolve the issue. Are you using the cleanser that I featured in this video? What sunscreen are you using? Have you used any of these products before, or are they all new to you? If not, it might be a reaction to a particular product, or your skin might simply be overwhelmed! There are many possibilities. But if the situation is severe, it might be best to visit a dermatologist or doctor in your area for their professional opinion!
Hi, I don't really understand what's the main difference between this one and the SA Smoothing Cleanser. I'm looking for a better cleanser to treat my blackheads and I can't decide between these two, any recommendations? Thank you
This product contains 2% salicylic acid, but the specific amount of salicylic acid in the SA cleanser is unknown, although it's likely below 0.5%. If it were higher, it would need to be mentioned on the packaging according to regulations, I believe. Therefore, this cleanser would be more suitable. However, the most effective way to eliminate blackheads is by extracting them either by yourself or professionally (which is likely the best option, especially if you have a significant number of blackheads).
Hi, thank you very much for this. I applied it on my face to remove some blackheads and they havent come off after ive applied it. Does it come off eventually?😊
It's best to get your blackheads extracted from time to time by a beautician or do it yourself at home with a blackhead extraction tool, and then maintain it with this cleanser.
Where do you experience redness? Do you know what triggers your redness? You can try CeraVe's Renewing SA Cleanser, Smoothing SA Cleanser, Acne Control Cleanser, Blemish Control Cleanser, or a Benzoyl Peroxide Cleanser (4-5%). It depends on how your skin responds to salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide. For me, for example, benzoyl peroxide works much better for my acne. However, keep the frequency of use in mind when using such a cleanser. Still, I also recommend looking into the root causes of your acne, such as lack of sleep, stress or mental health issues, environmental factors (air & water quality, washing detergent, etc), and especially your diet (such as consuming too much added sugar, processed food, fast food, or any food intolerance; like soy, spices, milk, bread (wheat/gluten), eggs, chicken, etc). As for a gentle cleanser, Beauty of Joseon Green Plum Cleanser or The Ordinary Glucoside Foaming Cleanser are great options that you could use when not using one of the other cleansers.

It contains niacinimide but how much? Then Should I also buy the ordinary’s niacinimide serum (10%+zink) to use after the cleanser, so i can control my oil production? Or is the blemish control cleanser enough on its own?
While we don't know the exact composition of these formulations, it's unfortunate that most companies still don't disclose this information. The best initial approach is to use the product on its own to see how your skin reacts. Based on that, you can adjust your routine accordingly. A good next step might be to incorporate an additional hydrating serum, such as one containing hyaluronic acid, to balance out any dryness-especially if you're planning to use this as your only cleanser. Alternatively, I would suggest using it in conjunction with a more hydrating option. For example, you could alternate between the Beauty of Joseon Green Plum Cleanser and the blemish control cleanser for a more balanced skincare regimen.
I really really like the product, although it made my skin feel slightly tight after. My friend recommends using a moisturizer. What cerave or other brand moisturizers should I use to pair with that cleanser?

@@fflubble I just asked because the percentage is important, and since you have a 5% BP product, combining it with 2% SA might be too much for the skin. This could become too drying and ultimately lead to irritation. It would be better to combine the gel with the foaming cleanser and use the SA cleanser on its own, or possibly with a light hydrating toner or serum (such as hyaluronic acid). Alternatively, you could use a light gel moisturizer like Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel or G&G Hydration Station. Choose something not too heavy. If you have sun exposure, applying sunscreen would be a good idea.

@@fflubble Well, usually the irritation doesn't occur immediately, but rather becomes noticeable after a few days or weeks. And yes you can use the blemish control cleanser followed by Alpha Arbutin serum.
No, it contains Salicylic Acid, and combining it with PanOxyl can really cause issues when used one after the other. Please use one of the following cleansers: ruclips.net/user/shortsqMd1tWxPWLM
Hello, I just found your channel as I'm new to skin care routines and wanted to ask you if it's okay to use this cleanser with CeraVe moisturising cream as it has hyaluronic acid and ceramides. I just don't want to try to do something good for my skin and ruin it in the mean time 😅
Yes, that's fine. However, could you please let me know your skin type? The cream is typically intended for dry skin. If you have normal to oily skin, I recommend using a hydrating serum or a gel-based moisturizer instead. :)
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet I think I have normal skin, it doesn't peel or anything but I moved to Germany and it's sooo cold and dry here, I haven't experienced the complaints others did with the cream, it literally sucked it under 2-3 minutes 😂
I’m looking to purchase this cleanser since it’s easily accessible but i’m not sure because there’s also the cera ve SA soothing cleanser and renewing cleanser so I don’t know which one to really choose from.
I think it's best to get your blackheads extracted from time to time. Avoid using the Blemish Control Cleanser and The Ordinary Salicylic Acid serum in the same routine. Also, keep the frequency in mind-using them daily or even together could lead to dryness and sensitivities/irritation. However, I also recommend cutting down on added sugar (like sodas, fruit juice, candies, etc.), processed food, fast food, or things that are high in refined wheat/carbohydrates such as bread, pasta, desserts, etc.
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet Thank you so much, do you think it’s worth purchasing this cleanser for combination skin and just to reduce their appearance and reduce the appearance of pores, as well as pimples and stuff like that of course?
@@bangtanbella6901 If the root cause of your acne is your diet, then no anti-acne product will likely stop it from reoccurring. Salicylic Acid or other anti-acne products may lessen it a bit, but you won't be able to get rid of it completely because you are not targeting the root cause. Also, having pores is normal.
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet Thanks again. I don't really consume too much sugar and dislike sweets/sodas so this could just be genetics maybe? I think I will try out this salicylic acid cleanser anyways and see how it goes, hopefully in the future I can afford to get any blackhead extractions.
I’ve started using this product a week ago and right now idk if I suffer from purging or breakouts. Can I use this daily with the Cerave acne control gel and Effaclar cream from La Roche Posay?
If this is your first time using a Salicylic Acid-based product, it's not uncommon for your skin to need time to adjust. However, if irritation persists beyond a month, I recommend discontinuing use. Are you referring to the Effaclar DUO+? If you find that your skin tolerates that combination well, then yes, you can use them together. However, since the Effaclar DUO+ also contains Salicylic Acid, it may not be necessary to use both products simultaneously. In that case, choose either the cleanser or the cream
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDietThank you for the reply! Yes, I meant Effaclar Duo + because I used Cerave spf 30 in the past but I heard that it could clog your pores. That’s why I changed to the other product, but my forehead is still very oily. I have combination skin and cystic, hormonal acne.
@@ninamommaert4000 Have you experienced any issues with CeraVe SPF 30? If not, go back to using that one. Incorporating too many exfoliating acid products (Cleanser, Gel, and Effaclar DUO+) in the same routine can lead to sensitivities or irritations over time. This also depends on your skin tolerance and frequency of use, but it's something to keep in mind. If such issues arise, it's best to use them at different times of the day or week. Hii melissa I was recently watching your videos about the uses of cerave (which I really appreciate because I was very lost) but I have a question. You can use them on the same day, but I do not recommend using them in the same routine. Alternatively, using them on alternate days, as you have suggested, is also fine! :)
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet Alright ty! 💫 Btw if I use both in same day it can cause irritation? Like in the morning I use the blemish control cleanser and then in the night again the cleanser but with gel, I can do that or is way too much for my skin?

Hi! My The Ordinary Cleanser ran out and I've wanted to try a new one. I have hyaluronic serum 2% and niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% acid in my current routine. If I get this one, I don't have to use them anymore? (I also have a salicylic acid masque and a serum version) - I can skip out on these too? It is maybe important I mention I use a moisturizing toner after cleansing.
Hi Melissa. I recently got into skincare because my skin feels dry and has blemishes (little bumps, blackheads on the nose and some spots occasionally). I also get very dry small zones on my face sometimes which last pretty long. Overall, I would say my skin type is normal to dry. I prefer to have a single cleanser and moisturiser for both the morning and the evening. I used the hydrating cleanser with the moisturising lotion for two months. My skin feels less dry but the blemishes didn’t go away. Could I use the blemish control cleanser twice a day with the moisturising lotion or is it too much? Do you have any recommendations for a cleanser-moisturiser combination for both the morning and the evening? Thank you!

Hi Melissa! I've found this video because tonight I was using this Cleanser and after noticed that my pores werent really that clean (still some black dots, nose with too much sebum, big pores, etc). I got very worried, I dont think Im using it wrong, but I just recently started using Retinal (0.03% tho) Do you think that could be the reason? I know the skin has to adapt to it first (using it every 3 days), but its not that red or dry either so Im not sure. Im scared to stop using my cleanser, thats the only one I have! What do you think I should do? Should I not use my cleanser the days I use retinal (at night). I have a Laroche Lipikar Baume lying around, maybe I could use that to cleanse. Feeling indecisive :(
Hey! 😊 The black dots on your nose are pretty normal, and I don't think that you can entirely get rid of them, as the skin (which is an organ) cleans, hydrates, and protects itself over and over again. Over time, your skin may produce less oil due to the cleanser and retinal you're using. Still, the fastest way to temporarily get rid of them is to extract them. It's best to use a non-exfoliating acid cleanser when using Retinol, like CeraVe Foaming Cleanser. In the AM, you can use the Blemish/Acne Control Cleanser. LRP Baume is way too rich. If you want to use something, consider using a hydrating serum or gel-based moisturizer instead.
Technically, yes, but in practice, it may be a bit too drying. So, I suggest using a hydrating serum (such as a hyaluronic acid serum) or a light gel moisturizer along with it.
I use only cetaphile gentle cleanser in the morning for my skincare. I have been breaking out with inflamed pimples on my upper cheeks. I have sensitive and acne prone combination skin. Will this help clear my skin? Any tips and products that will help? Thankyou :)
The gentle skin cleanser is for dry to normal skin. So it is not ideal for your skin type; that may already be the issue. So I suggest buying the Cetaphil Daily Facial cleanser, the CeraVe Foaming cleanser, or the La Roche Posay Effaclar cleanser. That should solve the problem. Use it in the morning and evening. And if you like, you can follow with a non-comedogenic moisturizer such as Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel or G&G Hydration station.
Hi! I have an acne and blemish prone skin. I’m using the blemish control cleanser and after that the la roche posay effaclar +M cream, mornings and evenings and I feel my skin much better. And also is it okay if I use clean it zero purifying balm to remove my makeup or it will be too many active ingredients? Thank you in advance, I highly admire you!
Hey! :) If your skin tolerates this combination well, then yes, it can definitely work! :) As for sunscreen, you could try Eucerin Oil Control SPF or Good Molecules Sheer Mineral SPF. hello, if you dont mind me asking how do you know if a skincare product youre using is working or making you purge? ive been using this product for a while now but honestly i dont know if it is working properly or whether im not using it correctly.
Hey, Indeed, this can be quite tricky. To determine if the cleanser is working for you, you need to pay close attention to how your skin reacts. Purging usually improves within 4-6 weeks. If your skin doesn't improve, or if you have breakouts in unusual places, the product might not be right for you.
@@rbgarcia46 Yes, ingredients like retinoids or exfoliating acids can accelerate the skin's cell turnover process and bring underlying impurities to the surface. This initial purging phase should resolve itself as your skin adjusts to the new product. This adjustment can take one full skin cycle, which is typically around a month, though it could be a bit less or slightly longer.
@@rbgarcia46 The CeraVe Blemish Control Cleanser is an exfoliating acid cleanser. I would suggest giving it more time as recommended. Hi Melissa, I am new to skincare. I was wondering if it is okay to use The Ordinary Retinol (0.2% in Squalane) and The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% and the AHA/BHA chemical exfoliants with this cleanser? I also am using trying out a Vitamin C serum with Salicylic acid and Niacinamide for both AM and PM, however I’m not sure if it is safe. I also get a very oily T zone (hours after skincare), can I invest in Niacinamide and the other products I mentioned above? or should I approach this differently? Thank you🙏 :)
Hey! 😊 What are your skin concerns? Are you currently using the cleanser shown in the video? Do you use a moisturizer as well? Do not use your Retinol and AHA/BHA exfoliant in the same routine. Avoid using the cleanser shown in the video in the same routine when using your Retinol as it's also an exfoliant. However, you can use Niacinamide with Retinol. Which Vitamin C serum are you interested in using? Additionally, I recommend using either a leave-on AHA/BHA exfoliant or an Exfoliating Acid cleanser. @@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet Hi! :) I used to have blemishes on my face but they have been reduced with the Cerave blemish cleanser over the past 2 years. I also always moisturised after. I am indeed using the cleanser shown in the video and I do use a moisturiser. However, I have a very oily T zone throughout the day and in the mornings. I also have visible pores, uneven skin texture, skin dullness and forehead finelines. For my first serum, I tried out the "Garnier 3.5% Vitamin C, Niacinamide, Salicylic Acid, Brightening & Anti Dark Spot Serum". I have also invested in The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid. I would like to include other beneficial serums like Niacinamide. Should I switch to a non exfoliating cleanser for times I would like to use Retinol and AHA/BHA exfoliants? If possible, could you recommend moisturisers that are good for oily T zones? Thank you for taking the time to reply. your videos are very informative😁
@@MUMSHREY Ok, that's great to hear! What moisturizer do you use? Have you tried just using a moisturizer on the 'drier' parts of your face? Garnier's Vitamin C serum already contains a blend of Niacinamide, Vitamin C, and Exfoliating Acid. Do you still use that one, or do you want to move on to something else? Yes, I recommend using a non-exfoliating acid cleanser (like CeraVe Foaming Cleanser) when using your Retinol or another higher strength Exfoliating Acid Toner or Serum.
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet I use the Nivea Soft moisturising cream at the moment. I haven't tried using the moisturising cream on only the drier parts of my face yet, as I'm afraid that I'll miss out on the moisturisers locking in the nutrients. I am thinking of investing in matte lightweight moisturisers and oil free sunscreens. I am currently still using the Garnier's Vitamin C Serum and The Ordinary's Hyaluronic Acid. I am looking to invest in Niacinamide for my pores after I finish the Vitamin serum. I am also looking to get into chemical exfoliation, would a non-exfoliating acid cleanser be okay for that? :)

For example, The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + Beta Glucan or Beauty of Joseon Red Bean Water Gel are both good options. Hey! :) You're likely reacting negatively to the AHA and maybe PHA as well that is in those products. Still, the overall formulation plays a big role as well. So, you do not have any problems with Salicylic Acid. Why didn’t you continue to use your Salicylic Acid Gel if that product has helped you? Or do you still use your 2% Salicylic Acid gel? If you still use the gel, there is no need to use another Salicylic Acid product. Just use a non-exfoliating acid cleanser to wash your face before applying the gel :)
Hi, my skin is bery sensitive and whenever i took a shower my skin starts itching and my face becomes red and i have acne and acne scars too they also become red and i feel something is under my skin. I am also having boils. It never happens before but now i am facing this issue from 1 year now. I was wondering should I use korean products?
Well, have you made any changes during that time, perhaps to your lifestyle? Are you eating differently, experiencing more stress, etc? Also, what cleanser are you using? Are there any other skincare products you currently use? These would be the first things I would look at. However, I'm curious, why do you want to use Korean skincare products? That doesn't seem to make sense in this context.
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet I was using cerave oil foam as my skin is oily and Cetaphil daily cleanser with Neutrogena moisturizer and cancer council sun screen it's Australian sunscreen as I live in Australia. I am an international student when I first moved here. I was so stressed out and I had so much acne on my face but now it's better but now I got acne marks which get red or purple like colour when my skin gets oily while working. And my nose was very good before but I have acne on it too in the sides also and it is not going away. I thought Korean products are very popular and saw good reviews every where that it is cruelty free and good for sensitive skin. Like isntree tee tree toner, isntree water sungel as current sunscreen irritates my skin and it creates irritation in my eyes too. I have added some K products in my cart too. I'll tell you 1. Low pH cleanser coserx 2. Isntree toner red one 3. Dr G R.E.D blemish (I saw many good reviews of this moisturizer for red inflammation skin that's why I thought of giving it a try) 4. I already bought Paula's choice BHA salycalic acid I haven't use it yet . 5. Isntree water gel sunscreen. 6. Coserx acne patches. Excluding Paula's choice these are my carted list which I am thinking to buy. Let me know your thoughts. About my eating habit tbh I eat lot of fast food like burger, fries etc junk food. My cheeks looks swollen too it's kinda look someone slaps on my face. Lol
Okay, so the changes you're experiencing are likely due to hormonal imbalances and the drastically different food in Australia compared to your home country. This could definitely affect your skin for months or even years to come. I also lived in Australia for several years, and I noticed that people from Asia often tried to eat local food from their home countries, or went to places that sold such food. That is definitely something I would suggest. Overall, the most important thing you can do in Australia is to protect your skin with the highest SPF you can find and wear protective clothing whenever you can. If feasible, use umbrellas for sun protection as well. Of course, if you have an outdoor job, that might not be possible, but there are excellent sun protection cloths available. I'm not sure what they're called, but they can provide great protection against the sun. I would recommend a very simple routine: AM: Clean your face with a mild cleanser such as the low pH good morning gel cleanser. However, Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser or Cerave Foaming Cleanser might be better. Pat the skin dry. Apply your sunscreen (remember to reapply it when outside for several hours, after swimming, sweating, or when it has rubbed off). Ideally, use a mineral sunscreen from a reputable local brand. PM: Clean your face with one of the suggested cleansers. Pat the skin dry. Apply Paula's Choice BHA (every other day or daily if tolerated). Wait a couple of minutes. Apply a gel moisturizer like The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA or Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel. I would suggest not using other products, as you don't need them and overwhelming your skin can cause more issues.
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet Thanks alot I will start doing this asap after buying these products you mentioned. A big possibility is because of harmonal imbalance I totally agree on this one. Thank you for giving me suggestion. I have more questions should I use any moisturizer and if yes then which one should I use. My skin is very sensitive oily acne and it becomes red/brown scars while at work. And when it comes to sunscreen should I buy Isntree water gel sunscreen blue one or any other? give me any suggestion. And I don't need any green tea toner right??
I don't know of any good sunscreen brands specifically in Australia, but the best option is to ask for advice at the pharmacy regarding which one they would recommend. I believe a sunscreen gel might not be suitable for oily skin; instead, I would suggest opting for a fluid-like texture or a good lotion like mineral sunscreen. Regarding moisturizers, both The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA and Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel are light formulations that will feel very comfortable on your skin. As for a toner, it's not necessary, but you can use one if you like.
In skincare, the term "blemish" is often used to refer to any type of imperfection on the skin. This can include acne, pimples, blackheads, whiteheads, and other types of breakouts that are caused by excess oil, dead skin cells, and bacteria that clog the pores.

Thanks, and I hope my question wasn’t to difficult to answer 🙏🏻🙏🏻😅
Hey! :) Using multiple acne treatments in one routine can make the skin drier. Therefore you may want to change your routine to something like this: AM: - SA Cleanser - Niacinamide Serum - (Optional) Moisturizer - Sunscreen (if you're exposed to the sun) PM: - Non-Exfoliating Acid Cleanser like CeraVe Foaming Cleanser - Acnecide gel 5% - (Optional) Moisturizer This routine should balance out the dryness, however, if it still stays the same, I recommend using your SA cleanser and Acnecide gel 5% on alternate days or add an additional hydrating essence or serum to your routine! :) Also do you use your Acnecide gel 5% all over your face? If yes, I recommend just applying it on acne-prone areas and whenever you experience acne. This can reduce dryness and irritation significantly.
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet thanks I’ll try that and see if it works !! I only use the acnecide on acne prone areas like round my mouth and chin. But I mostly get pimples that are under my skin but I don’t know if that’s normal or not either?
@@meganpovall-jones4888 For how long have you been using your Benzoyl Peroxide gel? Has it helped you in any way? It can bring this type of acne to the surface, but you have to be patient.
Well, currently it is, but when I test many products, I do experience breakouts. But also, acne is a complex condition, and so far, I have not been able to get rid of it entirely. So, keep in mind, we are working with treatments and not with a cure. They help us to improve our skin condition but do not get rid of it entirely.

- The ordinary Niacinamide 10% & 1% zinc
- Moisturizer
- The ordinary retinol 0,5% in squalane (retinol only 2-3x a week on days when I dont use salicylic acid)
2-3x a week when I dont use retinol:
- Heimish all clean cleansing balm
- The inkey list Salicylic acid cleanser (I used to use this cleanser every evening but I felt like it was too much?)
- Paulas choice 2% salicylic acid liquid exfoliant
- Niacinamide (?)
- Moisturizer
I do have quite a few questions now 😅
Hello 🙂
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet ahhh thank you so much for the answer, really appreciate it 😊 and yes I only use retinol like twice a week

This depends on your personal skin tolerance. However, the cleanser could be used daily, both in the morning and at night (AM and/or PM).
Hi Melissa ❤
I want to use cerave blemish control cleanser and gel in my skincare routine as I have acne and blemish prone skin as well as bumpy skin due to enlarged pores.
What mosterizer do you recommend to be used along with these? And also please recommend a good sunscreen.
Hey! 😊
I recommend getting a gel-type moisturizer, like the new one from CeraVe or The Ordinary NMF + Beta Glucan.

@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet thank you very much, I will do that😊😁

Yes, that's fine. However, could you please let me know your skin type? The cream is typically intended for dry skin. If you have normal to oily skin, I recommend using a hydrating serum or a gel-based moisturizer instead. :)

@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet thank you!
Hii, Can I use 10% azelaic acid after this cleanser? Thank you for the video!

As for sunscreen, you could try Eucerin Oil Control SPF or Good Molecules Sheer Mineral SPF. However, I'd also recommend using it only when necessary, such as when spending extended time outdoors in direct sunlight with a high UV index. You don't need sunscreen indoors.

hello, if you dont mind me asking how do you know if a skincare product youre using is working or making you purge? ive been using this product for a while now but honestly i dont know if it is working properly or whether im not using it correctly.
Hey,
Indeed, this can be quite tricky. To determine if the cleanser is working for you, you need to pay close attention to how your skin reacts. Purging usually improves within 4-6 weeks. If your skin doesn't improve, or if you have breakouts in unusual places, the product might not be right for you.
@MelissaVanDijkOfficial oh, I see. I didn't know about the 4-6 weeks! thank you for the advice!

Hi. Can I use this with Cerave Blemish repair gel?
Technically yes; practically, it is often too much and could cause irritation or flakiness. So I suggest using the CeraVe Foaming Cleanser instead.
Hi
Can i use of my dry skin place i wanted to use this
This product is designed for individuals with normal to oily, blemish-prone skin. If you have dry skin and want to use it, make sure to follow it up with a suitable moisturizer. Otherwise, it can cause excessive dryness, which can worsen your skin condition.
Can you use it on your body too?
yes
Can I use it also on the body?
It is too drying on the skin. But you can, yes.

Do this really help for blemishes?
If your skin responds well to salicylic acid and the overall formulation, it may help. How old are your blemishes? Are they red or brown?
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet red and brown
@@Mark.7_Football If your skin responds well to Salicylic Acid and the overall formulation, it can be effective. However, for brown spots, you might have better results with an Alpha Arbutin product. Azelaic Acid may also work.
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet Thank you so much ❤️

yes

I'm not sure if I got it right. Can I use the cerave blemish control and then use their moisturizing lotion?
I have some acne, but my face feels quite stiff after blemish control. But it helps moisturizing it afterwards. Will the moisturizing make the acne worse?
Moisturizing after cleansing is important, but it's important to choose a moisturizer that's suitable for your skin type. If you have oily skin, use a hydrating toner, serum, or light gel. If you have dry skin, use a lotion or cream. Using the wrong moisturizer can worsen your skin condition.
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet okay thanks for the tip! I'll keep that in mind 😇
Okay, I have sorta oily skin.
Would a good routine be...
1. Wash face with water or micellar
2. CeraVe Blemish Control Cleanser
3. CeraVe Blemish Control Gel or CeraVe Hydrating hyaluronic acid serum?
Each morning and evening.
Anything you'd recommend me to change or add?
@@OrangeJuiceEnjoyer4444 If you have oily skin, I suggest using a gentle foaming cleanser in the morning and evening to properly remove the oil.
AM:
Clean face with the blemish control cleanser.
Pat dry with a clean towel.
Apply Hyaluronic Acid serum.
Wait 1-2 minutes.
Apply sunscreen if you have sun exposure.
PM:
Clean face with the cleanser.
Pat dry with a clean towel.
Apply blemish control gel (use every other day in the beginning to see how well you tolerate it).
Wait 1-2 minutes.
Apply Hyaluronic Acid.
Do not overuse the gel in the beginning, as it can quickly lead to irritation.

I need a cleanser for acne..right now i have tiny bumps on my forehead..
Hey! :)
You're likely reacting negatively to the AHA and maybe PHA as well that is in those products.
I'll tell you
1. Low pH cleanser coserx
2. Isntree toner red one
3. Dr G R.E.D blemish (I saw many good reviews of this moisturizer for red inflammation skin that's why I thought of giving it a try)
I would recommend a very simple routine:
AM:
Clean your face with a mild cleanser such as the low pH good morning gel cleanser.
PM:
Clean your face with one of the suggested cleansers.
Do you know how many % BHA it has?
2% Salicylic Acid
What is blemish what does it mean
In skincare, the term "blemish" is often used to refer to any type of imperfection on the skin. This can include acne, pimples, blackheads, whiteheads, and other types of breakouts that are caused by excess oil, dead skin cells, and bacteria that clog the pores.

Hi, I’ve recently started using the blemish control cleanser. I use it in the morning and at night.
In the morning I wash my face then apply the cerave moisturiser
And in the night I wash my face again, then use Ordinary naicinamide 10% + zinc 1%, then use the acnecide gel 5% w/w gel and finally the cerave moisturiser lastly.
However, my face is feeling dryer and some parts of my face has flaking skin. (I normally have oily skin too)
Could I be using the cleanser too much or is it the other products I use?
Thanks, and I hope my question wasn’t to difficult to answer 🙏🏻🙏🏻😅
Hey! :)
Using multiple acne treatments in one routine can make the skin drier. Therefore you may want to change your routine to something like this:
AM:
- SA Cleanser
- Niacinamide Serum
- (Optional) Moisturizer
- Sunscreen (if you're exposed to the sun)
PM:
- Non-Exfoliating Acid Cleanser like CeraVe Foaming Cleanser
- Acnecide gel 5%
- (Optional) Moisturizer
This routine should balance out the dryness, however, if it still stays the same, I recommend using your SA cleanser and Acnecide gel 5% on alternate days or add an additional hydrating essence or serum to your routine! :)
Also do you use your Acnecide gel 5% all over your face? If yes, I recommend just applying it on acne-prone areas and whenever you experience acne. This can reduce dryness and irritation significantly.
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet thanks I’ll try that and see if it works !!
I only use the acnecide on acne prone areas like round my mouth and chin. But I mostly get pimples that are under my skin but I don’t know if that’s normal or not either?
@@meganpovall-jones4888 For how long have you been using your Benzoyl Peroxide gel? Has it helped you in any way? how come with all those products you have your skin is still not flawless ?
Well, currently it is, but when I test many products, I do experience breakouts. But also, acne is a complex condition, and so far, I have not been able to get rid of it entirely. So, keep in mind, we are working with treatments and not with a cure. They help us to improve our skin condition but do not get rid of it entirely.
