Honestly, the most impressive thing isn't that the Sentinels marched all the way into Cathay, but that the AI actually decided to attack a gate of the Great Bastion instead of going around through the Mountains of Mourn (Looking at you, Curseling)
The tomb king's ego meant they wanted to be able to say they took it properly.
Tomb kings have honour.
That means, they came from the north. So they traveld from the black pyramid all to the north and then through the chaos waste to attack the great bastion. Thats a lot of effort!
@@hanspeter8982its a remnant of the great host that settra led into norsca to retrieve his crown
When Curseling does it, it feels like “You little RASCAL!”
If someone ever says there's no anti-player bias, just link them this video.
the tomb kings endgame crisis only starts out at war with the player. There's definitely anti-player bias but this video isn't a good showcase of it, this faction is only at war with the player and because of the Sentinel trait they will never declare war on any other faction, so they will only invade the player.
there is a huge anti player bias. even if the ai is at war with other people they will attack you first 9/10 times
No-one says there isn't. CA openly says there's anti-player mechanics to stop the campaign being too easy.
Anyone who says that is either a CA employee of hasn’t played the game can’t tell you how many times I’ve played as the empire and some far away person declares war on me such as malus darkblade gets pissed I’m friendly with cathay (meeting then from caravans) and marches his ass across the world to invade
@@npierce14 most impressive thing: you played the empire many times. How the hell can somone do that?
The Sentinel Diplomatic Trait:
Immovable - The sworn protectors of the Black Pyramid will never leave that settlement.
Very cool.
Maybe they moved the pyramid over to Cathay
Nothing more soul crushing than checking on your artillery and seeing them walking god knows where. Damn skeletons.
To be honest though when I saw him give an attack order on the extreme edge of his range it was obvious what was going to happen, also I wish they would allow artilery emplacements on the wall for your army's artillery units (but for the love all that is holy no ass ladders)
Can you just imagine the Cathayan peasant wondering who are those bone people and why they are attacking from the chaos wastes
To be fair, they are probably happy for a break from the normal hellspawn that comes from the wastes.
Legend advocating for holding the walls? How the hell did we get here?
Rarely happens XD
He explains at the end. The new capture point system almost insures that if you get breached by stronger forces, you will lose. Stupid capture the flag mechanics. never liked them.
@@SkottVFX You can also use them to your advantage.
Being an adherent of Tzeench, he often changes his view if it suits him better.
Walls have always been useful against mostly-large-unit armies, even in WH2, even at the height of Legend's disdain for walls
This is one of the coolest, most cinematic total war battles I’ve ever seen.
Zoro gave the tomb kings directions home
My pet hate for WH3 is the capping points. I despise this system. I also hate how they rout towards the center of this city and rally behind enemy lines. You usually don't have the resources to chase them down. If i can, i auto resolve every settlement battle because i despise this system so much.
Its the sole reason ive stuck with WH2. Love the sieges in that, hate them in WH3.
90% of batlles are sieges since AI is coward. Thats why Warhammer II is the apice and the rest is just hot garbage.
fk capping points... i shit on them with a mod that can make the arch have a range of a mutha fkn bazzoooooka! suck on my capture point CA..gimmie gimmie gimmie back my son!!
One of the best disaster battles I have seen. Great content.
I thought from the comments that the Sentinels had rolled their way over to the Bastion, which would still have been bad from an anti-player bias perspective. But nah turns out they bee-lined their doomstacks over there, ignoring absolutely everything in-between! Amazing stuff.
So this is what a Gate battle looks like.
What's this? This almost smells like an honorable siege battle.
A very well fought siege battle that is.
No anti player bias btw 💀💀💀
When playing a Nanman campaign in Total War Three Kingdoms, I got invaded by Gongsun Zan. The guy has enemies all around him, but hey, send a stack across the map. This "anti player bias" is exactly why the AI nations are always weak. Because they lose all their armies by throwing them at the player's wall, instead of actually expanding their own territories
I've had Khemri rock up and take a settlement in the middle of the empire on an ikit claw campaign, best ally I could ever ask for
This happened to me in tww2, except it wasn't the empire it was Tobaro, which was still my sack city, promptly ended all relations with Khemri after that affair.
This is known as the Jade-Sand war.
If the capping system is encouraging you to use the walls, an argument could be made that they are working as intended.
It's the wrong way to go about it though. Don't force people to use the walls that are so ineffective, make the walls decent so they're worth holding.
When cornercamping in a field battle makes for an easier defense than defending inside a walled settlement, an argument could be made that sieges are not working as intended.
Dude was persistent for a endgame crisis Tomb King. Anti-Player bias is real, and really stupid.
Great job on Legend for defeating those guys and driving them back into the desert sands where they belong.
This was a great battle to watch. Good stuff!
The sentinels are absolutely mad among all end game crisis. When IE just came out, I played Luther, he attacked me across the sea. When I play Karl Franz, he attacked me across the mountains when he only had three settlements and a bunch of enemies near him. When I played khatep, he attacked me all the way across the world. And these are all 10 turn crisis, so my territories were all near starting position. And now someone get attacked in Cathay. Impressive AI design, CA
I swear Belakor does this to me every campaign
The Sentinels or whatever does this, it's just unbelievable how far they're willing to go. And all their stacks are very strong.
Amazing performance!
Fantastic fight.
Ah yes, anti-player bias AI in a nutshell...
As another commenter stated, The Sentinels ONLY declare war on the player by design. It's not bias when you're literally their only target.
Holy cow i usually make Cathay my target with most factions just for fun. Reminds me when i went on a crusade with Settra all the way to the big wall. Amazing.
Great video! I love to see legend sweat for once!
That was a rare and wild battle. Well done sir.
When legend says crap over and over you know the battle is really not going well.
Fun one to watch, thanks legend
For endgame crisis, settlement taken by the crisis-enemies should spawn more stacks that can recruit any other unit at high rank
This is where the captions "I am on the wall here" would be appropriate.
This battle was I turn 57, so the player set a super early end game crisis.
The good old Chon Sheena battle
Asking as a new player but one with a fair amount of previous TW experience: how difficult is the crisis? I've been thinking of cranking the difficulty up to 200 because I want a real fight when it comes but I don't want to set myself up to get totally slaughtered 100 turns in.
Bare bones invasion
The capture point system would make more sense if they were only buffs and debuffs instead of a countdown timer to end the battle.
Impressive work Legend
Why do gate settlement like the cathay bastions suffer attrition when only besieged from one side? The game doesn't simulate the grind of attritional siege warfare and disease among both besieger and besieged anyway. Cathay would be able to reinforce the bastion with men and supplies, so the attrition is senseless
I downloaded a mod that basically makes the bastion unsiegable. (It would make the army have to siege for like 100 turns) but basically the mod maker said it's like hard coded for garrison to take attrition.
How come some battles you can see the balance of power and other times you can't? And did I just out myself as an easy-mode scrub?
Today is the day AI uses Legend tactics against Legend 😂 But then again, effective blobbing is an AI tactic Legend adopted, so what goes around comes around
i noticed that, the AI starting to be programed to be anti legend....like the Ai hero be running around expecting to be shot at by arrows but im just sitting there looking at my screen like what in the fk is going on
I was on the edge of my seat in this one 😅
Lore wise it makes sense
If legend says hold the walls you done goofed foreal
Insane defense! 😁
doesn’t matter where you are, nearly all end game scenario factions will eventually make their way to you
King Djokht, Mr World
I’ve seen ai maliketh march all the way across the map to fight kairos and Imrik, I’m not surprised if this is on hard difficulty or above
I played a kholek campaign and i found that the end game tomb kings use sea lanes they were every where except on the left of the map with lustria and where all the dark elves are and they had taken over half of cathay before i fought them
End game crisis, I was like how
This is some long ago problem then enemy AI ignores it neighbor targets and knows that he can win you will go straight to you wherever you are even if he loses all his settlements while crusade goes.i personally had case then AI declaras war to me instead of my enemy(rogue armys mostly.Leon.empire elector counts.kathay(their relations was worse to my enemy than to me and balance of power was 70% in my favor)
Thanks to CA, the sentinel are chaos related faction according to lore.
Are they really? I could've sworn they're for Nagash..
the womb kings 🥺🥺😳
this shit happened to me as well when i was playing norsca and had the tomb kings end game crisis on 200% trigger on turn 20...the fuckers spent 20+ turns fueled by anti player bias, marching 5 armies towards albion and 4 more armies towards uzkulak ...
damn fine fight
Legendary 🔥
Hey Legend, Warhammer 3 is on sale this week (40% off). Question isn't "Should i buy it?" questions is do you feel the bugs are fixed or acceptable now? Is the single player content balanced for most factions or are some unbalanced/unplayable? I ask, because I recall you were unimpressed with it at launch. Basically, have they resolved most of the issues you saw then?
its a lot better than it was before and with Immortal Empires now being out thats a big thing, its still not perfect but compared to release its a lot better now... as for the DLC's I'd reccomend the Warriors of Chaos one the most, the Ogres one is kinda 'meh' at the moment and Chaos Dwarves depends on how big the sale discount on it is.
I'm not legend but for the majority of the comunity The main issue was "realm of chaos" campain, now with immortal empires the game is better. All faction are adequately strong (some amazing like khorne others a tad weak like deamon prince or nurgle but all playable and enjoyable for me). There are some unrefined aspects that probably will get addressed with time (next patch in this summer should focus on improving the campaign ai) and some minor bugs (i suggest using the "comunity bug fix patch") but the game is still good tbh
what a fight
very impressive battle , as epic as the anti-player bias that totes does not exist, you guys ...
You do realise this is 100% not anti player bias? The Sentinels ONLY declare war on the player by design.
how did *we* get here?
Let's get back to business to defeat the Tomb Kings !
Tomb Kings wanted a Hierotitan Terracotta Sentinel 1 on 1 but forgot to bring it to the fight :(
No speedy units makes this so hard lol I was about to say this looks easy but your Frontline will be in tatters from artillery before the they can really defend for the archers. With it not being a field battle it really can't be that hard
Doesn't help that it seems they recruited them without any experience so no jade sculptors I guess since I generally find it really easy to get experienced Cathayan melee infantry by turn 10. and they did not research any of the boosts which are huge pluses for Cathay by the end of it. Jade warriors with halberdiers have gotten 10k damage for me in battles where I was ambushed by chaos.
In the Astrogoth campaign I am playing now it's turn 117 and Arkan the black is currently sieging Karaz A Karak and we are best friends. Also I just destroyed eshen but before I took them out they had 30 some odd settlements and seemed like dozens of stacks of skaven slaves.
I swear something is busted with Clan Eshin's recruitment. Every time I go to the Far East in a campaign all of Eshin's armies are just crap skavenslave stacks it's so weird lol. None of the other major skaven clans seem to have this bizarre pattern.
@@itchyfish2899yes its very weird I literally never see any of their death runners etc. I think its because their mechanic is designed for the player. But eshin always be running over everyone just with 30 stacks of slaves lol
Legend got mad stressed
So different to be in defense.. in the attack you have allies make them meat shields to soak up enemy ammo..
Очень интересно правда)) Классный ролик!))
this is what i hate about the end game crisis, they r not auto at war with everyone like they should be, just always u and maybe a few neighbours, and they will MARCH halfway across the world just to f u up, but this is usually true for all ai factions lol
edit: u just need to have one dude in the capping point and it will stop them from generating victory tickets
now i know, apparently army loss is as what it is, army loss.. if they lose a lot, even though the balance is not as different, they rout anyway
They got lost
They came from the north?!?!
I am sorry, is this turn 58 with almost all cathay under his holding? and making 30k a turn? with early end game crisis? excuse me?
This game is so insanely dumb. AI send 20 full stack armies just to raid your settlements which are 30 turns away from them without getting bothered by other AI factions.
I reckon the Vietnamese said the said thing when America landed on their doorstep!
how did i get here?
This isn't my beautiful house ! And this isn't my beautiful wife !
Did you ever lose one of these "saving a disaster battle" videos? Can't remamber seeing that
Back in wh2 he did, like one video is simply named "F" with archaon and the other was a empire siege vs lizardmen
The sentinels bringing the Bone-Zone to Cathay. Also lmao anti-player bias.
dude the sentinels have the MOST aggressive anti player bias out of all factions in this game! seriously I have, as grombrindal with end game crisis had the sentinels invade me by turn 40 with three armies, and then in 10 turns they have three more until you kill a faction thats on the other side of the friggin map
The Sentinels are hardcoded to be unable to declare war on anyone
But since the endgame crisis makes it so that they declare the war on the player when they spawn, they remain unable to declare war on anyone else and only ever fight the player.
Legend: This Point Capping System IS AWFUL!
Also Legend: Riding couple of heroes and a lord cycle-capping points is great!
I always hate defending the bastion with the LOS problems, this really was a disaster
why is people confused that this happened??.. its an AI issue ive had countless times, especially on normal.. no matter how far you are, if they are at war with you (player) they will disregard every other war, leave their settlements wide open and send wave after wave.
I used this to my advantage in a chaos dwarve campaign, took Karraz while they sent almost all their stacks at me
but its made me lose way more here lately, frustrating.. the strange AI is on 11 and causes burnout.
makes playing kislev impossible..
End game and still no Lv5 Wall?😂
Weren't Sentinels suppose to sit on their asses around Black Pyramid?
Nagash woke up and commanded, "go get me some sesame chicken!" 😂
All those diplomatic trespassing penalties and not a single faction just wiped them out on the way huh?
More like Huns kings
5:45 battle starts
@LegendofTotalWar-Te.legram Shut up, daemon.
Im glad somebody else hates the capping system
BOW BEFORE SETRA!
Sir, this is Cathay.
I RULE... EVERYTHING!
its impressive to me because that location has the curgans that are like a bad case of herpes
Just remove the capping point system completely, and just let normal army losses decide the match. Dont have to make any other changes. Its an OK mechanic in historical TW, but stupid in fantasy TW.
Anti-player bias... Should I commit 30 trespasses to get to my enemy on the other side of the world or attack the enemy on my boarder?
Anti-player bias taken to donkulous extremes.
Why can a wall gate be besieged? That makes no sense.
You mean they shouldn't get attrition from being besieged.
@@Red1Napoleon yeah, they shouldn't be able to cut off the supply because the gate isn't surrounded.
There is a Mod that fixes the problem. Without Mod I would prefer TWW 2.
Hey Legend can you heart my comment ?
