Please only send campaigns on the verge of defeat or battles you can't win. Auto resolve wins won't be accepted. Modded campaigns are not currently accepted. Please only send campaigns/battles on large or ultra unit scale. Normal and small unit scale will not be accepted. Not currently accepting Realm of Chaos campaigns/battles.

Not watching that Celestial Intervention go off was an agonising blue balling.

What made it worse was that in the time he spent explaining why he didn’t have time to watch it, he could’ve just popped over to watch it!
I added up all the kills that were registered to units at the end, the difference with the units lost by the greenskins is 614.

@@UsuallyDestroyer he has no mount so any lord or hero with a mount can distract. Man is just tanky with so much regen. Once army lost his ass and he was still fighting even while crumbling. We just barely managed to kill him and I still saw he had HP to regen. Man is a chad

Seriously. As if he couldn't spare the 10 seconds or so to witness the carnage which would've been 1000x more entertaining for his audience than watching some troops mope about.

Their army got about 2800 kills, but grimgor's took over 3300 losses. Can't believe we missed seeing that bomb.

It's not Ai, those are cheats that make your enemy a bit less retarded
Not really ai is generally super dumb
Not exclusive to Total War, I do play other RTS like Company of Heroes 2 (3 sucks) and WARNO and friendly AI is hit or miss, usually brain dead, doesn't send units and is cheating to win with extra supplies or line of sight.
Probably part of the problem is that you are the anomaly in the situation. Enemy AI can work together because it is all one brain, but your AI doesn’t know how you will act so it’s hard to work with
It's suspicious AF. My allies just charged their peasant archers (which are renowned for their "excellent" leadership) into a bunch of nehekara warriors.
CA: "AI is perfect, no changes needed, route mechanics working as intended!"
I’m guessing the script it’s to flee to the nearest exit point. In this case, they can’t go sideways as there’s a big fucking mountain so they go behind the enemy lines 😂

What I think is happening with the routing is related to them not being able to detect terrain obstructions well. The closest part of the map that they can escape to that isn't blocked by your units is to the left. It is blocked by the mountains, but they can't detect that properly. So they try to escape the battlefield to the left, but then realize that there's mountains, but are still dedicated to going off that side of the battlefield even if it means going through your units
Yeah I wish routing units would prioritize running away from enemies rather than towards the map edge.
It's even worse when they start to route into your settlement and they rally on top of your supplies and win con spots, so they can just take it unless you send someone after them, which in unfavorable conditions when you need every unit to fight NOT routing enemies, can be really annoying. x)
Not to mention routing units can walk through walls and closed gates. It's definitely not annoying how much this game favors the attacker, with the dogshit tower/wall placement, bad terrain etc. I like to be the defender in siege battles, because it's more fun for me, but on the other hand i still acknowledge how bad it is. I hope they will fix it, because there is no way it's normal that the attacker gets the upper hand in a settlement fight.
Les complex even then that. Its simply the closest battlefield edge that isn't Legends deployment edge. The mountains are irrelevant, its the closest escape they can path too without running all the way back to their own deployment zone. Its only a small bit, but its enough. The enemy hit it and rallied as they would normally. It makes that corner dodgy for camping.
You dropped one of the greatest bombardments in the history of Total War and just fucking walked away, lol.
Listening to you rant about the A.I. was like listening to John Stewart rant about Chicago style pizza. Made me laugh louder than I should’ve.
It was a pretty good AI roasting.
On display in this fight are the bugged Snotling Pump Wagons. They are basically dealing 3x the damage they are supposed to be dealing, due to a bug that's letting them hit multiple times when they are only supposed to hit once. Turin's tournaments currently has them completely banned for this reason but that doesn't stop the AI from accidentally abusing them in campaign. CA knows about it they are just slow to fix it like usual.
Also on display here, Cathay's desperate need for some kind duelist lord/hero. I hope they get some help in that department when they get their DLC.

The talk about AI stupidity made me curious, if you had two completely identical, balanced armies, one controlled by AI and one setup but stationary in a formation, which would win.
@@Malignard Well... AI often flank when flanking is one of the worst things you can do in a certain position.
The AI probably if by stationary you mean that the formation is not adjusted at all during the fight. The AI does make some questionable choices sometimes, but that usually is only on display when the player is manipulating them (like drawing the lord out). Then again, sometimes the AI just derps out for no reason
@@scarletcroc3821id say 50-60% moves the ai does is anti micro so it would probably loose against a stationary army if you disregard charge bonuses and similar mechanics
if someone makes a stationary formation made to counter the AI, it would win pretty easily.
A normal one the AI would win.
just did some runs and they just 1:1 did the same 2 cav when around the left into the other lines 3rd cav and archers, the frontlines were 1 to 1 matching when they clashed, but the defending arty attacked the attackers arty while the attackers arty would focus on the hero. Usually both dying at the same time. Armies were led by Balthasar Gelt and the kills were only ~50 in difference everytime, but that's just with the 5-6 i did and armies were only like ~12k so nothing super huge either
Looks like AI got dumb because you have hidden the horses in the forest, it looked like they went to scout the nearby ones to look for them

0:42 There is a slight chance what this guy might be thinking of when he says trying out turning large army off and AI control on is what this does with Greenskin Waagh armies. IIRC Waagh armies are, idk, coded to be a different faction that you control, so when you give them AI control they come in like a normal reinforcing army would, even if large armies is turned off. It's pretty neat-o if it still works like I remember it does, but it doesn't work when your faction properly owns all armies involved. Each faction can only have 20 units on the field at once with Large Army off, but this has/had a weird cheesy interaction with GS Waagh stuff.
This might be my favourite disaster battle I've seen of yours.
You don't see it, Legend, the Ultimate Strategos of the AI is so advanced that not even you can comprehend. They rout and run beyond your lines so they can rally behind you and smash you!

It feels like ai is devolving with each battle that Legend showcases lol.
Snotling Pumpwagons’ damage output is bugged. If I understand it correctly they hit 3x as often as they should. I saw the bug in a Turin stream.
The arty and missile units should have an emplace command that never lets the move forward due to LOS issues. Its absolutely bonkers that arty pieces would move out of their emplacement and out in front of the infantry line. No line commander in history would allow their guns to maneuver outside of the infantry lines. Same with Archer line commanders whom historically would be given targets during the advance but long before being in range.
Actually what you should do is have your artillery and ranged in front of your front guard that gives them more time and free reign to weaken the advancing enemy forces then either charge your front guard forward for the charge advantage if it's against like chaff infantry or pull the artillery and ranged back so the advance if it's single entity or large units get hit by a planted infantry wall either way ranged units are abusable in the fact many are cheap and op as hell and should be abused as much as possible

Yeah the checkerboard! Or manipular formation. Good for gunpowder based armies as well because it gives them line of sight. And the AI is not likely to go through the gaps. Making your units fire at their flanks when they're busy up front.
I have found that if you order a cavalry unit to halt while on top of/surrounding a single entity they will attack it as it makes its way past each cavalry model rather than them knocking it over.
Routing forwards? Now that is something I never thought I'd see.
And the Orcs realizing that they can hit their enemies from behind thanks to their routing and turning around and charging is so Orcy it hurts.

I think it would bee fun to have a way to download the replays of these battles for ourselves. Also, a way to download the disaster battle/scenario for us to give it a try within the community. See if we can do as good as Legend, or learn directly from his examples. Of course the replays would let us go back and catch the glorious moments like the missed out bomb hit here. :)

Small trick : You can use Guard mode on cavalry to make them more responsive when pulling out of a fight

it never ceases to amaze me that the bretonnian peasant system and the cathay peasant system work so differently like i’ve never been a fan of the bretonnian one felt too restrictive w early game army spam that most of the time is somewhat required to stave of minor or even major factions from declaring on you super early, i haven’t played a ton of cathay but the yin n yang system seems really well balanced overall forces u to balance everything out
you can always save replay and show us cool moment (like that bombardment) that way :)

The AI behaves weirdly sometimes.
Had a Hard battle difficulty battle recently playing as Vampire Counts attacking a Karaz-a-Karak army and hid my units in a forest. The AI didn't, at any point, come look for them like they usually do after being "activated" by damage spells.
Instead they milled about TW:WH2 style, clumping up and letting my flying casters leisurely bomb them with Pit of Shades until magic reserves ran out.
Had to advance really close to the enemy with my other units for them to even react to them too.
It was very strange.
I wonder if the ai gets better depending on the level of the armies commander?
Cathey's summon units should be unbreakable, they are ghosts called back from the deep, fleeing is not quite right.
Guys, how to move units already in formation to stay in formation like legends moves them? I'm looosing my damn mind I have 800h on whII alone and I just CAN'T FIND IT

Maybe I'm completely wrong about this, but it feels like the AI is programmed to run toward the closest edge of the map to get out of the battlefield. And in that case the closest edge were behind you since the left edge was block by the terrain.
Maybe they are routing that way cause its the nearest border to get off the map?
Apparently, pump wagons are quite overperforming now.
Maybe next time you can save the replay and just show us in the replay how that celestial intervention looked.

Restriktive Camera is pretty much the sole reason why I don't play legendary (without mods that remove it).
We really need a replay mode for campaign battles so we can see these things happening afterwards :D
You can save replays of your campaign battles once they finish.
There is literally a "save replay" button.

I’m going to say it until he does it ! Legend download SFO mod so you can make it unlimited armies because you need a challenge I wanna see what you do when the map is filled with full stack armies absolutely wrecking itself in talking turn 75 and most settlements are still tier 2 because of being swapped between factions so much
I'm assuming the routing toward the enemy line was the mountain obstruction, perhaps the ai identified that as the most prudent escape. Stupid either way.
They need to fix guard mode. Or add a different feature that does the legacy guard mode features.
it's always satisfying to see legend destroy an entire army of nazi skulkers.
Even with Xp on WH the starting army is not as good as the Reinforcements. Balancing open battles or siege. sets up a different composition. We travel with units in trail to swap over if a walled assaults' is needed. making it the light support force not a primary field one. Combine arms is Micro but most WH rome generals come over here forgetting how important the artillery axillaries were in a formed out Legion. Translating to WH monsters and magic dont always fill a role. as a ratio of foce to over come defenses and limit casualties. The tutorial for Napoleaon had a good take on Blitz and preserving xp units rotating damaged

AI control can be used to abuse reinforcements, ai contorl+not large army control, you have all army vs 1 stuck of enemy
Please do a video where you take "people off the street who've never played a total war game" and make them play some WH3.

Looks to me like what happened was the cavalry was between the enemy and where they wanted to run away to so instead they went for the nearest map edge.

@@jensonbarnes6478 My problem is that in late game when you want to conquer territories and I do not want to play every battle but I have to because auto resolve tells me that my Cathay army is 0.

Almost Intelligence (AI) has only ever helped me as more of a distraction if anything but I wouldn't ever trust them with one of my main armies.
Also i really hope they fix running down single units weather its hero or a basic soldier. They should just auto die or die very quickly at least if they have been fully beaten down to one entity and lost leadership. The horses should just smash the crap out of them.

I'm pretty sure this is on legendary, you know...The difficulty that disables giving orders while pausing?
@@ArctikToast You can still pause, organize your thoughts, unpause, and issue orders? I will admit that I don't play on Legendary, only Very Hard.

this shows exactly why I refuse to buy wh3 tw and other DLC. Very simple and basic things that have been a problem for many years like with the shaman at the end units just derping hardcore non stop and the outright stupidity of the AI have still not been dealt with.
