Me when play disaster battle: AI is an inseparable juggernaut, ignores distractions, always waits for its artillery and protects its backline, enemy heroes chase down my value like usain bolt Legend when play disaster battle: AI drops an automatic flamestorm on its own units 5 seconds into the battle
isnt this generally the reason the battles get sent to him in first place? so its kinda redundant and besides, if all mailed in battles say "unwinnable" it will sort of defeat the purpose anyway! Also, to actually send legend a truly unwinnable battle that even he could not win, the battle must consist of 100 Armies of all Factions and your Army consisting of one gobbo with two chopsticks that are not sharp! that might do it....although I mean....he gets a gobbo with TWO Chopsticks!
Few years ago I send disaster save to him, and he rejected it with saying it does not look winnable! It was a good weapon team with low-level heroes against LOTS of elite high elves.
Very well. A half health, 12 unit garrison versus two stacks of decent army. You have no lord, just a unit of infantry with encourage. Also it's Lizardmen, your single playmaker type unit are cold one cavalry.

Eshin gutter runners are legit insane. Usually it gets kinda exhausting rather quickly to constantly micromanage skirmish armies like this, but when you see them rip elite units to pieces like that its absolutely worth it.
I dont think that CA is even remotly intersted in making a better AI. After all they would have to Invest ressources into a Feature that very well could be disliked by a lot of Players because it would make the Game more frustrating 😉😅

I mean General AI models are beating the best human players in all kinds of games from Dota (old news I know) to all kinds of games, even racing games like Trackmania (newer and more interesting development). I wonder what stops companies like CA from taking general AI models and training it on battles from good human players. Maybe an AI that is too good will actually turn off players?
@@NatrajChaturvediyeah it would probably make some doomstakc not viable and would be annoying. Things like archer spam would probably get cooked by a really good ai with good micro. 1 man doomstacks may still be good, although ai would not cast spells on there units and would probably try to single cycle charge and the battle would be long and boring
Astrogoth sprinting down the field to wipe your commander out of existence might be one of the most horrifying images I've ever seen. I'm not even skaven and I felt like routing. Can't believe your leader didn't shit himself and immediately run off the field.
That battle against Zhatan might actually have been winnable if that was a minor settlement. I've noticed that in skaven minor settlement battles, if somehow you manage to stay alive and them not entering too far into the city, they just turn off and stay outside, letting you kill them with the towers
And here i have trouble playing "normal battles" i guess ... knowledge is KEY and priceless. Knowledge of map, units, game play ... amazing vid. Learning A LOT by watching (i still know nothing).
Hey, I have a pretty bad battle that I could use help with, even if it's just advice. The battle is a high elf vs lizardmen defense of a settlement. the settlement garrison is 3 archers and 3 spearmen at half strength, with reinforcements from a nearby army with a flying princess and noble hero, 1 white lions, 2 shadow warriors, 3 spearmen, 3 seaguard, 5 archers, 2 pheonixes, one great eagle, and one eagle thrower. This is against 5 feral carnosaurs, 7 stegadons, 3 saurus warriors, a wizard, a melee hero, and cavalry lord. in addition, they have reinforcements of 1 melee lord, 1 chameleon shock infantry, and 1 pack of missile beasts. they have the high ground and there's plenty of woods all around. turtling up has led to the dinosaurs smashing my front lines, sending in my fliers to assassinate the enemy lord while my army hides in the forest has had mixed results, and splitting the army has given me no advantage. at this point, I'm considering hiding my army in the woods and waiting out the timer, but I'd like to see what you think.
@@isaacalves97 The cav wasn't very fast since they were exhausted, Astragoth/fliers were the only fast ones since he has perfect vigor and they don't lose as much flying around. Also when units are tired they lose armor which lets gutters shred everything.
Watching your videos makes me want to buy this game despite not being able to afford it. I haven't felt this way about a game since I was still in middle school and didnt have my own job.
It's 100% an amazing game. However the full experience requires a bunch of expansion packs as well as the game. Additionally it gradually grows old; the gameplay is fairly well the same from army to army, race to race.
i didnt you could play with the AI like that, its really impressive you did a very well use of each ability and each clic, i saved this video so i can come back and actually learn to play
The weeping blade contact effect on the night runners cut down a big portion of the armor on their single entities, giving the gutter runners a lot more bang for their buck
Sigh. I have a stack of forsaken led by The Twisted Twins that are just now hiding in front of this hugeass Grimgor army + Waaagh. He has all his initial units + 3 giants in the waaagh iirc. Far from a disaster battle and I already know how to deal with him but I consider the direct attack unwinnable... Temtped to send it to him just to provoke a reaction. 'but leeeeeeeeeeeeeeeegeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeend, sureeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeely you caaaaaaaaaaaaaan't wiiiin thiiiis' ...should I try?
These battles aren’t impossible they are just super hard because you really need to manage ammo really well. Ive done a battle similar to this, with eshin vs zatan one of the funnier down to the wire fights i ever had !
The rat runners always actually perform very well to me in a pinch especially in very hard difficulty. Use them to pull heavy cavs, slow flanking enemies, harass backlines. Very good units.

As a new player to TWH, this was amazing to watch. I'm on my 2nd campaign ever with DE as Lokir Fellheart and I've had a battle or two that said decisive defeat in AR but I took control and grinded my way to to a victory. Just have to finesse the AI a bit.
Figured all the balance of power was in those abandoned Hellcannon crews. As soon as they got attacked, you got army losses. Also, Astragoth is both rather fast and tall... (for a Dwarf).
This is the power of ranged...I had a very similar situation vs Chaos Dwarves with Nurgle after turn 200, i really had zero ranged attackers and my heros were the Exalted Knights of Nurgle..The combination of minotaurs, Kdath destroyers, Flying hero and siege was too much for melee Nurgle to handle..The dwarf hero was pretty much maxed too with all purple items..Dude was a tank
i have noticed on rare occassions that a reloading of a game can change the auto resolve outcome. my guess is, that some of the buffs and debuffs are not "saved" correctly.

Legend making it look relatively easy as he does! I think most players just aren't willing to commit to what it takes to win really challenging battles. They all want it to be hammer-and-anvil-easy (as all historical titles were before Warhammer), or auto-resolve. Anything more and their brains explode.
actually i play my games with like 90% auto-resolve. last total war i played was Medieval II and i cant find battles in TW:WH as interesting as i did in ME II. No matter the faction i play or the enemy i face, every battle feels the same. It wasnt like this in the old games.
It's gotta be that he got pulled out. If he wasn't and the ambush simply failed (i.e. was spotted) he still would have been the attacker. But since he said he was the defender, it's much more likely that he was spotted beforehand and then attacked by Astragoth.
@@mattandrews2594 yes, but in one case astragoth would be the attacker, while in the other case he'd get a prompt to attack the army (Even though he was spotted) making him the attacker. But yes, it would be great to get a chance for being detected indicator somewhere.
Now in all fairness - if this *were* a succesful ambush battle, you'd probably still send it to Legend. Holy crap, the disparity in power here is insane.
I feel like the only way to get Legend is to send him a troll battle set up to be intentionally unwinnable. Attacking a full stack with one unit of Eastern Spearmen and sending him the save etc. Not that it would be fun or something he'd agree to try.
oh if only this came out a few days ago, i was playing eshin and had problems dealing with chorfs. Ended up abusing T3 skaven settlement defences and warpbombs.
I feel like within the context of a 20v20 battle playing as Clan Eshin no battle is impossible to win short of a full doomstack of tier 4+ single entity enemies. The amount of tools Clan Eshin has is insane, and the AI is so predictable and goofy in this game you can abuse them to no end to turn a battle in your favor.

I also noticed that when I was playing skaven. Some AI units were circling outside the settlement.

This entire battle was basically Chaos dawi going "look at our big fireduck."

Technically both cases are being spotted. It does suck that the game never makes clear that Ambush stance involves passing TWO calculations.
