    As someone who loved Space Police III's short run, I mostly see it as a goofy romp. I mean it's basically "POLICE IN SPAAAAAAAAAACE!!!" Not something to take that seriously and would likely be a pitch for a Saturday morning cartoon, most likely from the 80s or 90s. Not much depth to it, but still enjoyable.

    While there weren't any non-villain aliens in the sets for space police 3, the stop-motion animations on the site portrayed a few extraterrestrial citizens. I loved those shorts, they gave the setting a real sense of presence. Its just a shame we never got to see any of it in the actual playset. I'd have loved to see a couple of City-like models portraying the everyday life in space (or even a large exclusive in the style of the modular buildings)

    Something I've always liked in sci-fi and space themed entertainment (Movies, shows, books, games etc.) is getting a sort of feel of the world they live in without being directly told. I think civilian aliens would be an awesome addition and opens up a ton of MOC potential! I personally think it would be a welcome change to do less ships and more structures like buildings, bases, ruins, landmarks, stuff that's different from a police station.

    • @polaris_draws
      @polaris_draws 5 лет назад +3

      That sounds like a cool theme! Maybe it would be based around a huge space station, were humans and aliens from all over the milky way live together... decently... Each race would have a different ascetic, but I would have the general look be similar to No Man's Sky. Colorful, some what chunky, and the aliens would have wild designs (maybe have some be brick built, or a space spider...)

    • @38procentkrytyk
      @38procentkrytyk 5 лет назад

      @@polaris_draws What I would love to see is multiply time setting. It doesn't need time travel but what if there was set build on progress as whole. Let's follow for example "Life on Mars" footsteps. Stage 1 Two civilisations encounter each other Stage 2 both factions unite to achive specific goal and Stage 3 divide... however it doesn't mean war or anything. Times have changed and new factions were born and continue existance thanks to knowlage they got thanks to working together. Some Humans and aliens follow one path and rest the other.

    • @polaris_draws
      @polaris_draws 5 лет назад +2

      @@38procentkrytyk So each wave of sets would be a different point in time? Wave 1 would be us meeting the aliens, wave 2 would be us building the station, and wave 3 could be the satiation completed with other aliens coming to to live on it?
      Am I understanding you correctly? Cause that's a cool idea!

    • @38procentkrytyk
      @38procentkrytyk 5 лет назад

      @@polaris_draws Yes. That's basic concept but again this is Lego! You can put something from yourself. Although I was thinking more like 1) Aliens and humans arrive on alien planet which is alien for both of factions 2) Everybody together builds up base and vehicles 3) After mission is done everyone has to find new goal in their life so they made new factions and leave this place or stay there. What I would love to see is difference between wave two and three. In first sets it would be basicly like traditional lego set with faction vehicle or whatever but in wave two sets need somethins like frankenstain monster estetic as to show this is something new for everybody and finally in third wave new sets are build on the same technology but perfected like it was most obvious thing in the world.

    As some one who grew up on LEGO Star Wars for the most part, looking at classic LEGO stuff you decided to take a look at in your series is just so cool. The creativity and possible lore that could be gleamed from all the different original sub themes, despite there simplicity I’d breath taking. The closest thing I experienced to classic space was space police 3, and the fact stuff like that and power miners have been forgotten you LEGO makes me sad.

      I was just pointing out that there have been many themes set in space that have coexisted with Star Wars.
      I think the real reason that we haven’t something like classic space is that conflict and violence sell toys, and Lego’s model for their lines used back in the day, where themes would run continuously for a long time with new factions being introduced over the years, has been replaced with themes with more story that last 1-3 years and are then replaced (with the obvious exception of things like City).

    Here we go boys, space police. Ive been excited for the past couple hours~
    Im torn about space police 3.i like the use of aliens instead of just humans like older space lines. But theyre all enemies... which annoys me. Id still love space police 4; it could possibly have some aliens on the lawful, or even civilian sides (maybe only one or two alien races as to keep them kinda evenly distributed and not have the "this generic unit is only in the high end sets" problem), maybe an even villain distribution too. It could be done.
    I kinda like how its all smaller criminals, though. It makes it feel more like police and less like a war.

    And, what's REALLY interesting to me is that when they released a mini figure collection with Both M-Tron and Blacktron, they included figures from BOTH Blacktron themes, as well as a lone Space Police 1st Gen in the group. It makes me theorize that you were getting to see the two faces of Blacktron. One was their covert ops arm with the TriForce symbol and in all black, and the other was the Public Face of Blacktron, offering their services to anyone willing to pay. This would include good manufactured from stolen designs.

    im sure some people have already said this, but sp3 isn't without a rival faction, nearly all of the baddies in the line work for the gangster-esque villain from the limo set. and are known as the black hole gang. also, atleast one of them, from the set with the purple tow-truck style vehicle, is allied with blacktron, featuring a combination of the blacktron 1 and 2 uniforms.

    Sweet I really love these themes and learning more about them I wasn’t around for some of these themes because well I was born in 2002 but I did have the space police remake but not the original. It’s really interesting to learn more about differences that lego had back then and now. Keep it up i love this content.

      I still have my insectoids and ufo, and way too many g1 bionicles. I've always loved classic space. The post 2000 space themes we've gotten lack the charm of the original lego system space themes. Your content is extremely good for the more nerdy types like me. I always stop what I'm doing to watch these. (Thanks for the heart, I rarely comment on videos.)

    There was a certain charm about the space sets from the 90s due to their exciting color schemes and the simplicity of the builds. The ships weren't as stream lined as the modern space or star wars sets but they still just looked cool.

    All those old space themes are a really weird memory, being born in 2001, I only used my dad's old space police wich had a long, hard life (almost half of the set was broken/lost) but still managed to build some small ones.
    Thanks for all those videos, just don't mess with society.

    I just broke out and cleaned up my old Galactic Peace Keeper ship today. One of the best presents I got from my Grandma back in that era of toys.
    As for Blacktron II Mocks - I used to have that Futuron Pod robot thing: Cosmic Pursuer, I think it's called. With some bits from the different Marvel battle suits, and that Creator Shuttle 3-in-1 set, I was able to remake most of it in a sleeker, more functional form. Now I just need a classic dome for it. I actually want a Neon Trans Green one so that I can have a Blacktron II 'copy cat' to play around in for some of the spares I picked up, like that new MiniFigure from the 2024 collection. Even tempted to do one in Red for M-Tron.

    Honestly, it would be nice to see space themes going simultaneously and build on common lore like back these from the 90s but this time including aliens to each faction, maybe with like some factions having some animosities towards specific alien species cuz of a harsh past, but not such definitive humans vs aliens scenario, and fact other factions team up with this species pumps up their rivalry, just a concept that i think would work really well if LEGO decided to try

    I guess I never really looked further into the different incantations on the same themes, I had heard there was a space police 1, 2, and maybe even a 3, but never cared to see which was which. Turns out I grew up with the red headed step child 2. But I have to admit 1 looks the best, same with blacktron. Seems Lego is finally coming around on their old themes what with 2 castles last year, blacksmith, black forest, 2 pirate ships, and a blacktron thing coming up. Keep em coming Lego!

    You know, there was *one* Blacktron figure in one SP3 set - one of the Aliens was wearing the uniform with the logo. He may have been in only one set, but that set *did* show Blacktron clash with the space police again for the first time in over a decade.

    Awesome video Nick! I have the Galactic Mediator, rebel hunter and Galactic chief, and some blacktron 2 sets. Also, the lime green alien from sp3 is a blacktron, same as cyborg from lego minifigures 3 and evil mech from minifigures 11.

  • @serina3872

    Maybe space police 3 is a prequel and the first part in the space timeline. This could explain the more normal look designs and the lack of aliens in the space police

  • @XuntosIzor
    @XuntosIzor 4 года назад +1

    Maybe the Space Police looked more terrestrial when they came back and Blacktron wasn't around because it is a prequel series. Maybe the Space Police were actually conquering aliens and Blacktron was a resistance cell that appeared to fight that tyranny later lol

    wow never thought about Space Police III being Fascist, that makes the line more Dystopian and likely what Humans would do in the event we encounter other worldly life, Humans are Historically Imperialistic. I just found you but the gorilla documentary style of your uploads makes me want for this style of content inter-spliced with blurbs of interviews with AFOL's my age who were the intended age range when Futuron, Blacktron and Space Police I debuted! I know I have many fond memories about the transition from what we now call classic space to the trifecta of Space seen here. If I knew how to edit I would try to create videos like that! Heck #Bricktsar would be a perfect candidate for the series as an interviewee especially because he was basically already an AFOL OG when these themes hit the market!!! great stuff man keep it up and thanks for making me feel old by telling us you were born in 1991!

    6:44 admittedly there is Blacktron in the theme...in one minifigure from the Raid VPR set. Yup an alien on foot sporting Blacktron gear but underdeveloped. Likewise with another alien referencing Insectoids.

    I had 2 small space police 2 sets with a bit of a tragic story behind them, one of my mom friends got them as Christmas gift for her son, sadly he & his dad passed away in a accident 3 days before Christmas. Being 7 at the time, I did not understand the ramifications, I was just happy to get his Lego...

  • @phoenixkidlordoffire9904
    @phoenixkidlordoffire9904 5 лет назад

    There was a reference to blacktron in the Raid VPR set 8:15. I had that set and the space crook that came in that set, called Rench. His torso was a remade version of blacktron 1’s torso with the blacktron 2 logo. There were also a few references in the LEGO minifigures series. The space villain from series 3 had the blacktron 2 logo on his torso. The chest armor piece from the “evil mech” minifigure had the blacktron 1 logo. (Inverted triforce). Sorry i wanted to mention these because space police 3 was one of my favorite themes back when I was a kid. And I’ve been a fan of blacktron since I discovered it years ago.

  • @polaris_draws

    I wonder if someone has made a fan project based on that idea? A space police 4 that had a story focused on an expanding human race, and how we interacted with alien cultures? That would be interesting... But I don't think LEGO would touch it with a 10-foot pole, and if they did they would have to be very careful...
