About the origin of the blacktron, it is good to know that it is a well established fact in the Lego universe that there are multiple races that closely resemble humans. For example spyrius are said to be a different race but they look just like other humans, and the space police is a faction created by the galactic council that is said to gather or the races of the Milky Way, but all the members look human

I was glad to see obscure references like Planet B-II and Commander Beltar make their way into this, and there were even a few things I never heard before! There's just two facts that I can offer that weren't covered in this video: 1. He comments, "Oh yeah, no mistaking that old Blacktron-built spaceship." This confirms that Blacktron built the Skull Interceptor from the "5973 Hyperspeed Pursuit" set long before the events of Space Police III. Fantastic video! I am saving this for historical record. I always pictured Blacktron as one of the many split off factions of the original space explorations missions. The settlements they originally were sent to explore were scarce in resources so scientific enlightenment turned to survival. The early settlers pleaded for trade with the other star system settlements that were more abundant in resources but there requests were often overlooked. After time passed, and being unable to leave their desolate planets en mass, this forced them to start utilizing their remaining tech to intercept cargo haulers in the trade routes. I imagine Spyrius was a spin off faction of Blacktron to exercise more covert methods of acquiring materials and technology for survival. I look at them as NOT the 'bad guys', but a people left to the darkness of space to find their own way to survive.
I actually envision my own spin off called the Epsilon Group. Their color schemes vary quite a bit depending on the type of background planetary camouflage they need but still use the Blacktron II windscreen configuration. Here is one flown by an M-tron test pilot: ruclips.net/video/3uBpc1E4C3k/видео.html
@@loreescape47 Well the entire project I've been slowly tinkering with for a couple years now, but I built the autopilot Monday night and then Tuesday morning I set up the blasters collisions for interaction with other vehicles and then just recorded myself flying around to compile some good clips for the video. So all in all a handful of hours for that particular video set up and some slight editing.
Fantastic video! The scripting, editing, and research are all equally impressive! Blacktron was the Space theme I had the most sets of as a kid, so "lore" like this has always been something I've loved!
Thank you so much! Funnily enough, I barely had any Blacktron sets as a kid but that actually drove my fascination, especially because the Future Generation sets were in stores but I knew there had been a prior incarnation in the Space Police I set I had--it was a big ol' mystery to me how the two were connected!
@@loreescape47 There were many themes like that for me as a kid, countless hours staring at catalogs. I love researching the history of LEGO, I've definitely been inspired by this video!
Awesome! That means a lot coming from a fellow researcher. :) You should see our old copy of the idea book in your latest video--it's been worn to shreds!
My head cannon is that all the themes take place at about the same time, except for maybe the later space police and blacktron generations, and they’re all human, and blacktron are kinda just the pirates of human space, also I would note that all that all universe and corporate references were made made by descriptions of gen 2 blacktron at least in the examples you gave
Nice! There's definitely story evidence for that too, and all things are possible in the LEGO multiverse. :) You raise a good point about the corporate stuff; that's a fairly recent addition to the lore via the LEGO Legacy: Heroes Unboxed game. Given that Dwayne, an original Blacktron figure, was the one with the corporate connection (and the speculation within the video about Forrest Blackwell) I went with the interpretation that it's been an element of Blacktron society for a long time.
I'd love to see a video on the Insectoids. Their lore in Europe vs America are so drastically different, and to some degree so are the UFO aliens before them. My personal headcanon was that the Zotaxian fleet were once good guys working under Iil...xy...yx... whatever his name was when visiting the Fright Knights in that old commercial and Time Cruisers comic. When he died, Alpha Draconis took over as the cruel and tyrannical ruler described in the Insectoids book. The events of that book with the good European Insectoids then happen, before one of the fleets rebels and leaves Holox leading to the evil American Insectoids who would team up with Blacktron. (Ive also got my own more crackpot concept adding Craniac and the Buggoids into the equation but that one is for me for now)
I'm actually working on two UFO videos right now! It sounds like we're thinking along similar lines to incorporate the US/International storylines. Having Alpha Draconis as the evil Insectoids leader from Insectoid Invasion was also part of my headcanon even as a kid, before I knew about the lore of their shared homeworld--I was going entirely on the shared UFO/Insectoids armor piece! Some additional lore and other elements of my approach have led me down a more ambiguous direction for Alpha, but I always loved that idea. Working on the UFO videos has me really excited to tackle Insectoids, though I think I'll probably jump back to cover the other Space factions first. There ended being even more lore overlap between the UFO and Insectoids characters than I was expecting, though, so there'll still be plenty of great Insectoids stuff there!
Interesting how in europe the insectoids are portrayed more positively. I've also heard th a t roboforce was only introduced in america in order to have a faction that could fight the UFO aliens. I'm starting to wonder about America's relationship towards aliens. Maybe it has to do with alien abductions being more common there.
Thank you so much! I'm really excited about the next Space video. Blacktron was something I admired from afar for the most part, but I actually collected almost all of this next series...
I've always been impressed with the amount of thought and work that went into that book. Pete Reid actually stopped by to comment and I was appropriately star struck. :)

I just discovered your channel, with the lego lore timeline video, and i am absolutely in love with your content, style, and presentation. The song at the end was an absolutely wonderful cherry on top. I hope you keep making content as this was such a refreshing video!
Thank you for this- the Blacktron second generation (including that control panel framing the video) were very much my childhood and introduction to Lego (along with the castles + forest-men sets). This was a ton of fun!
You're very welcome, and thank you for watching! I had a lot of fun trying to adapt the control panel and thinking about what the graphics would be like. :) Love the Forestmen too--I didn't have many of the larger sets growing up, but one year I got TWO largish Forestman sets for my birthday, and it was just the best.
@@loreescape47 Combining alternate names into full names works well with some of the characters (I think Zec Wizer has a nice ring to it) but less with others (Gypsy Moth Sharp or Danny Longlegs Steel sound arkward, so perhaps Sharp and Steel may be nicknames given to them due to their abilities?)
OMG...The last bit of this was sooooo funny...first off great song...hilarious parody of that song... This lego video was good...quite good in fact. it's basically the COMPLETE opposite of what I plan to do with Ninjago 2042....the year the world runs out of oil. Lego Minifigures Series 26 has a few new additions to the Lego Space Lore! 1) The Blacktron Mutant; 2) M-Tron Powerlifter, and 3) Ice Planet Explorer!!
I love those! It was the first collectable minifigure series I just bit the bullet and bought every figure for. :) Of course that does mean the lore in the video is out of date, but I suppose that's a small price to pay. :)
@@loreescape47 I was picking up some mars mission stuff (last year I picked up power miners) and I finally got around to looking at pricing of some old space stuff, I saw some of it was actually affordable and decided to get some. It's been doled out in bits and scraps over the years, but it's pretty amazing what you can find when you go digging for classic LEGO lore. Bionicle was very much the full expression of a drive to theme based storytelling that had been simmering for well over a decade.
@@loreescape47 amazing ! I Just got the new galaxy explorer and it picked my interest in the lore of those old themes ! Happy to stumble upon your videos ❤ Ps: The little node to Bionicle on one of the screen blew my mind and warmed my heart. It really does stimulate the imagination...
@@loreescape47The song is such a perfect choice for a faction named Blacktron. Love the lyrics and passionate performance. I do remember playing lego legacy for a while though im unfamiliar with the lore. I was surprised to hear the intro song "lovely day" on the radio because i only associated it with the game at that point
Thank you so much! I do love the figure though! He's got a tiny cameo @2:30, along with bounty hunting being a well known occupation for Blacktrons (I think the Meet the Minifigures book even said that he came from a planet of bounty hunters). Probably could have done more with the character, but I knew I was basically using the same figure for the neo-Blacktron in the opening scene, so I didn't spend a lot of time on him.
Cool video, really enjoyed it (especially the outro)! Never knew that classic Lego space themes had lore with any depth beyond what was there for marketing. I just ordered a second hand Blacktron Cruiser a few days ago which must have made this video pop up in my recommended feed. It will be my first Lego space set since my dark ages, super excited for it to arrive!
Thank you so much! One of the great things about LEGO lore is that there is so much of it and so little at the same time. (Though most of it is indeed marketing, lol.) The Blacktron Cruiser is a great set, awesome choice for a dark age decloaking. :)
Does Blacktron have his own story? What a twist! Like for video. As a child, I wanted to have a LEGO 6981 Aerial Intruder set. I liked him. I did not understand how these transparent cabins are arranged. Now I can construct this myself from old Lego parts bought in the EU. 🥰🥰🥰 But I never considered Blacktron's men to be evil. I liked these guys. They had the usual kind faces. And now LEGO makes its little men some kind of scary twisted faces. With stubble and warts. Fu crap. 😢
i got a brand new spaceship with a sleek orange paint job, and using it i got to monitor the federation's activities. this is a very interesting document, before it got interrupted by something. when blacktron falls and the secondhand ship market reopens, maybe i can sell it to some new space explorer that needs a ship.
This video was so useful for me! I've been trying to make a blacktron moc and was having trouble deciding who should be the leader. I didn't know about the Centerions, and ended up making my own 6 man team. Unsure if I will make them
@loreescape47 The best part was learning that they had a leader, but also confirming my suspension that Space Villian and Rench arnt members of the organization but just posers
This was a very well put together video! Really got me interested in Blacktron, whereas before I was indifferent. Any plans to release "I rather it were Blacktron" separately?
The sets are pretty ambiguous until you get to Space Police, where they're just being locked up left and right. But the recent book LEGO Space 1978-1992 introduced some ambiguity to the Blacktron faction that I really like; I'll be incorporating that into the future generation of the video.
That's from LEGO Minifigures Online, a MMO that was only online for a little over a year before being shut down. I wish I'd taken the time to play it back then, it looks like it had all kinds of fun characters and environments. The trailers and game footage folks uploaded should have some more reference angles if you decide to build it--I don't think it was based on a physical model.
It's possible! Spyrius doesn't have a ton of story content, but what it does have is WILD. We'll cover them at some point. The Spyrius droid major is one of my all time favorite minifigures!
This video was amazing, before watching this I always thought blacktron was Russian for some reason, probably because they were first introduced during the Cold War.
I have some great Black Falcon memories! I got the Black Falcon's Fortress for Christmas one year, which was AWESOME because we didn't usually get sets that large, and it had actually been out of production for over three years at that point, so I'd never seen it before. It was the biggest Castle set I ever had. :)
More to come! Pirates is back up next, and after that I've got a couple of smaller videos about a specific book and game, but I'm really looking forward to the next Space video; it covers one of my all-time favorite factions. :)

@loreescape47 I expect a 87 hour long timeline in reverse order with extra lore information that breaks the 4th wall
Awesome video! Please do more on the 90’s space themes. Would love to see you do one on Spyrius, Unitron, Ice Planet, Exploriens, and Space Police 2.
Thank you! I want to get to all of them for sure, though I'll be jumping forward and then back on the timeline a little first. ;)
If only I grew up watching this every Saturday morning as a kid, after I’d head to the basement and continue the saga. Great job 👏🏼- well done ! 👌🏼
Thank you! It's fun to speculate about 80s/90s era themes in a Saturday morning cartoon setting; they'd fit right in!
I have the new blacktron invader
Btw I’m just a kid using moms I pad
@@Raven319s Hey, that's a cool video! How long did that take you to put together?
@@loreescape47 Well, you've always got my video to reference to if any of the pages of yours are unintelligible xD
@@loreescape47 yeah like maybe blacktron 1 were the pirates but when blacktron 2 came around they had a “corporate benefactor”
This video was phenomenal! Really good work my friend. I hope to one day see a full deep dive into the entire Lego space lore and maybe even castle.
Thank you so much! I'm really excited about the next Space video. Blacktron was something I admired from afar for the most part, but I actually collected almost all of this next series...
LOVED the mention of Pete Reid's Lego Space Building the Future!!
I've always been impressed with the amount of thought and work that went into that book. Pete Reid actually stopped by to comment and I was appropriately star struck. :)
@@loreescape47 I emailed him when I was younger and he kinda mentored me and encouraged me to start uploading my MOCs onto Flickr. He's super down to earth and cool.
The vibes are immaculate
Thank you so much!
This was awesome, and the Paint it Black parody was _hilarious!_ Imma subscribe just to see more like this!
Thank you so much! It was a crazy idea that came off pretty well. 😁
Im glad i stayed foe the song in the end.
Could you please make a video on m-tron
I'd like to make one for each of the space factions! M:TRON has some pretty interesting lore too!
I just discovered your channel, with the lego lore timeline video, and i am absolutely in love with your content, style, and presentation. The song at the end was an absolutely wonderful cherry on top. I hope you keep making content as this was such a refreshing video!
Thank you so much! I'm committed to putting these out; I just wish I had more time to work on them. :)
Wow. Impressive work! I had no idea there was such a deep lore behind these themes! I saw them only in catalogues and on shop shelves.
Thank you! Blacktron didn't start out with a lot of lore, but it's certainly picked up quite a bit over the years since.
Yay, Blacktron!
Great video! :D The outro made me add it to my favourites!
I too had the headcanon of combining the Zotaxian's two names into Prof. Locust Webb.
Thank you so much! I figured it sounded better than Webb Locust. ;)
I feel like this channel could blow up (this is a threat). In a good way.
This is such an awesome video man, I love seeing high production lego videos like this and Lego Rewind. Blacktron II is hands down my favorite theme
Thank you so much! I'm flattered to even be mentioned alongside LEGO Rewind; that's one of my favorite series here.
You know how to do your research right. May your creativity be praised.
More! That man in the profile picture is a blacktron sleeper agent. He has infiltrated Ice Planet and later Galaxy squad.
You never know where Blacktron will strike next!
This was awesome!
I'd love to see some collaboration with stop motion animators to bring the lore to life someday!
Thank you! I'd love to see this happen too!
My cousin Ben once had Blacktron Lego and minifigures. I've got the Series Blacktron Galactic Bounty Hunter minifigure.
I love that figure--had to put him in the intro. :)
OMG...The last bit of this was sooooo funny...first off great song...hilarious parody of that song...
This lego video was good...quite good in fact. it's basically the COMPLETE opposite of what I plan to do with Ninjago 2042....the year the world runs out of oil.
I promise it will try to be as equally hilarious. That song at the end though....made me laugh...quite hard.
Thank you! It was a bit of a crazy idea that worked out really well. 😁
7:47 =analog horror
The connection might be unclear, but Kazak's insignia also appears very similar to the early checkered Classic Castle shields from 1978-1984.
Good catch! Love the early LEGO Castle aesthetic there.
Futuron Propaganda. Happy to see Blacktron Space Force jammed the transmission. Freedom from Futuron Tyranny!
Fututorn is really holding their kids back by not making them full employees from birth; we must bring them the freedom that is corporately inscribed rights to being a functional aspect of society, lest the known universe crumble further.
I would absolutely listen to a full version of Build It Black
Thank you so much! I second guessed myself on including it a lot: "Is this too much?" "Is it too weird?"--glad it's finding an audience; we'll see about a full version. :)
Absolutely awesome video and your channel is truly an hidden gem, subbed and gonna binge watch all content up to today :)
I wish you luck with algorithm so you get snowball effect with gathering viewers :)
Cheers, also Merry Christmas and Happy News Year :D
Thank you so much for your kind words! I will take all the well wishes I can get; I know some of the things that make the channel appealing are also not helping when it comes to the algorithm, but I'm hoping to bridge that gap a little more next year. :)
got this after looking at reviews of some blacktron sets I may pick up, amazing job
Thank you so much! Are you starting out with the theme or looking to expand your collection?
@@loreescape47 I was picking up some mars mission stuff (last year I picked up power miners) and I finally got around to looking at pricing of some old space stuff, I saw some of it was actually affordable and decided to get some. My first blacktron set was the gwp cruiser which I unfortunately need to fix the stickers on now that I know better (the instructions make a few of em upside down). I had also begun looking at the theme a little after getting the galaxy explorer when that released
This was super cool! I have been looking for a channle like this for a long time and you put the lore together so well! Please do ice planet next!!
Thank you so much! Ice Planet is definitely on my list; I have fond memories of playing with my Ice Sat V; I don't think I'd ever seen that many wheels in one set before. I also have a sealed 1711 Ice Scooter that I've been saving for when I need to cheer myself up on a rainy day.
It will take awhile but I want to get to all the Space subthemes. I hope you'll check out the UFO video as well!
I watched that video to
This video answered so many questions. Thank you
Thank you so much for watching!
didn't know lego lore was that deep appart from Bionicle
It's been doled out in bits and scraps over the years, but it's pretty amazing what you can find when you go digging for classic LEGO lore. Bionicle was very much the full expression of a drive to theme based storytelling that had been simmering for well over a decade.
@@loreescape47 amazing ! I Just got the new galaxy explorer and it picked my interest in the lore of those old themes ! Happy to stumble upon your videos ❤
Ps: The little node to Bionicle on one of the screen blew my mind and warmed my heart. It really does stimulate the imagination...
@@julienthijs1271 thank you! The Galaxy Explorer is one of my favorite recent sets, the details are fantastic. The Bionicle canisters are iconic!
I love army building specifically Blacktron, and pairing that with my space police 3 stuff personally
That's awesome! Do you army build with just the classic stuff or do you incorporate the CMF updates too?
@@loreescape47 I like to incorporate the cmf stuff to varrying degrees, like the galactic bounty hunter I use as like an elite group of blacktron
This is fantastic!
Thank you so much!
The "No holidays, no lunchbreaks, no mercy" policy is so cruel.
Also love the song!
Thank you! The policy is direct from LEGO Legacy: Heroes Unboxed; the song parody is a wacky idea I had that I'm pleased has gone over well. :D
Whaa no Galactic Bounty Hunter? haha great vid
Impressive.
Thank you! And thank you for watching! :)
(Though most of it is indeed marketing, lol.)
The Blacktron Cruiser is a great set, awesome choice for a dark age decloaking.
🥰🥰🥰
But I never considered Blacktron's men to be evil.
I liked these guys.
They had the usual kind faces.
And now LEGO makes its little men some kind of scary twisted faces.
With stubble and warts. Fu crap.
😢
The Aerial Intruder is on my wishlist too! And of course, the Blacktrons would consider themselves to be the good guys. :)
@@loreescape47 100%
i love the evil mech minifig so much
It's pretty darn cool!
This is brilliant, you earned a sub
Thank you so much!
i got a brand new spaceship with a sleek orange paint job, and using it i got to monitor the federation's activities. this is a very interesting document, before it got interrupted by something. when blacktron falls and the secondhand ship market reopens, maybe i can sell it to some new space explorer that needs a ship.
That's the spirit!
Great production! Following for more!
Welcome aboard! Thank you so much!
This was a trip and a half...
A real galactic voyage, lol.
This video was so useful for me! I've been trying to make a blacktron moc and was having trouble deciding who should be the leader. I didn't know about the Centerions, and ended up making my own 6 man team. Unsure if I will make them
Nice! There's a lot of cool opportunities for individualization there!
@loreescape47 The best part was learning that they had a leader, but also confirming my suspension that Space Villian and Rench arnt members of the organization but just posers
Brick Theory approved. You got yourself a subscription
Thank you!
This was a very well put together video! Really got me interested in Blacktron, whereas before I was indifferent. Any plans to release "I rather it were Blacktron" separately?
Thank you! By popular demand, it's officially on the list of channel projects (though it is a long list ;) ).
Bro that video was absolute insane. Holy shit how did go under the radar for so long?!
Blacktron is stealthy like that. ;)
Great video! Good job! 😊
Thank you!
omg this was my childhood. I love this generation
Mine too!
I had most of these sets from the 80s and 90s. I had no idea they were bad guys though haha
The sets are pretty ambiguous until you get to Space Police, where they're just being locked up left and right. But the recent book LEGO Space 1978-1992 introduced some ambiguity to the Blacktron faction that I really like; I'll be incorporating that into the future generation of the video.
Collector Minis Space is gonna drop some lore next year!
I'm so excited for those! I can tell you right now that I'm gonna get all of them. Are you looking forward to any in particular?
@@loreescape47 black tron, for certain
Maybe ice planet
At 2:50, what is that clip based on? Love to get my hands on that robot/mech. Is if from that old rgp type lego game??
That's from LEGO Minifigures Online, a MMO that was only online for a little over a year before being shut down. I wish I'd taken the time to play it back then, it looks like it had all kinds of fun characters and environments. The trailers and game footage folks uploaded should have some more reference angles if you decide to build it--I don't think it was based on a physical model.
Recent development; A number of Blacktron employees have been exposed to some form of mutagenic substance, might want to look into that
Our informants keep a close eye on all Blacktron intelligence. ;) Looking forward to including them in future updates!
I always thought Spyrius were a branch of blacktron remmants or defectors that took some M:tron tech to continue the spying business.
It's possible! Spyrius doesn't have a ton of story content, but what it does have is WILD. We'll cover them at some point. The Spyrius droid major is one of my all time favorite minifigures!
Just gold, pure gold...umm I mean, black!
I see what you did there! :)
Whoa... this is excellent
Thank you!
Subscribed, great job man!
Glad to have you, thank you so much!
All hail Blacktron!
The Mars Mission spacesuits look very similar to the Blacktron 1 spacesuits.
Hmm, I'll have to take a closer look at those!
This video was amazing, before watching this I always thought blacktron was Russian for some reason, probably because they were first introduced during the Cold War.
Thank you!
Ok this was a good video and all but that ending was the best thing that ever happened
Glad you enjoyed it!
best video of lego Space ever!!
Thank you! Very high praise. :)
Blacktron are just former Classic Space/Futuron workers turned bad
Blacktron must live!
Blacktron from Space series are Black Falcons from Knight series
Best factions from their series!
I have some great Black Falcon memories! I got the Black Falcon's Fortress for Christmas one year, which was AWESOME because we didn't usually get sets that large, and it had actually been out of production for over three years at that point, so I'd never seen it before. It was the biggest Castle set I ever had. :)
I never never I needed this but I'm glad this video exists
I make it a personal goal to make the kind of content I'd love to stumble across myself, so this means a lot to me!
That sounds great
Perhaps Blackrock will one day evolve into Blacktron.
More PLEASE!!!
More to come! Pirates is back up next, and after that I've got a couple of smaller videos about a specific book and game, but I'm really looking forward to the next Space video; it covers one of my all-time favorite factions. :)
gotta include the new renegade now lmao
Yup! I'm really excited to build it too!
