Hearing what you had to say at the end, Nick, is the reason why I never give out requests. Sure, I'd love you to look at some LEGO themes I've been wanting to hear your thoughts on, like Super Heroes, but I'd much rather you cover themes that you want to cover. As someone who's been an avid viewer of your channel for several years, I think LEGO Rewind is one of your best series. The amount of effort you put into these videos is pretty astounding, and it's clear that you enjoy talking about this stuff. I'd like to see a return to the video essays, and the Sonic stuff because I like hearing you talk about that stuff too, but if you aren't enjoying the content you're making, it can show, and people can *feel* that. I'm just grateful you're making good content and currently have a career as a comic writer and artist. I understand that you'll have to dedicate your time to Planet Ripple (which I still need to get to at some point, but money has been short and college has been stressful), so when you do make a video, it feels like an event to me.
Anyway, I hope you give LEGO Rewind a good conclusion, so I can look back fondly during this phase of the channel. Have a nice day.

Just want to give you a heartfelt "Thank you" for this series! I'm an old fart who stopped paying attention to Lego in the mid 80s but have found my way back again the last 10-15 years. It's great to get caught up on everything Lego's been up to while I was gone. And it's a definite bonus to hear your subjective opinions on the different lines and sets (Edit: and whatever politics you think seem relevant!). I very much appreciate what you do, but that agree you shouldn't "phone it in" or just make videos to make them. Thanks again!
And I'll bug you one last time by saying: please look into the possibility to selling Planet Ripple on Comixology.

I miss the "dark age" days, back when there were so many original titles. Nowadays even the star wars sets are getting boring.
From all the 2019 sets the only one I was actually interested in were the Benny's space squad (and that's only because it's based on classic space)
If they're gonna do something that isn't licenced by some third party then I'd love to see some sort of thing they did with Ninjago legacy. You get a few sets per line from the most memorable or classic themes. They don't have to be 1:1 sets, but that would sell like ice cream in a hot summer morning.

Yeah, although Star Wars is my favorite theme and was my gateway to LEGO, some of the recent sets were distasteful for me, as I did not really enjoy Solo that much and I am mixed on The Last Jedi, the recent sets are not for me. I only really hunt for the rare clone wars set they release every now and again in waves as a treat, hopefully 2019 will be better as Clone Wars will be FINALLY BACK and it will be their 20th anniversary, which is basically a copout to redo the classics, which could either be really cool or really bad.

Another thing about Lego's progress in girl inclusion. JANGbricks pointed out a while back that Lego has started using more gender-neutral torsos (no boobs, no hip curves) in city sets, and I think it's great that you can use those torsos for both male and female characters now. Of course, licensed characters will still keep them (although it might also be because their outfits are tighter.)

  • @deckie_

Since I grew up with my brothers hand-me-downs of Lego, I never knew about the rich factionation in the themes. Everything was torn apart brick by brick and stuffed into a box. Having you explain the factions and show their respective sets lets me discover where these bricks come from, what and whom they belong to. It's absolutely fascinating, every single theme you cover just pulls me in that way.
so yea, do whatever theme you feel like, it's always been fascinating

It doesn’t matter how much you research a theme, you will always later find something you missed. I wish LEGO would do more large train models like the Thatcher Perkins Locomotive - except with better wheels. I wish LEGO would just take up making the monorail tails themselves so we could get more stuff. The 3D printed stuff people make just isn’t as good

This series is such a gem, I will always look back on it fondly. Your videos are made from passion and it puts them so far ahead of the RUclips curve it’s unreal.
Mistakes? Friendly reminder that the “Toys that made us” LEGO episode had a segment where they talk about 2001 Bionicle saving the company, but juxtaposed it with images of 2015 Bionicle. Yeah… like… yeah… I needed to walk away from the keyboard after that one. Luckily, my mangled soul is at ease

I just squealed in delight when you started talking about Cedric😁
Also thanks for mentioning me in the video.
Now i'm gonna quickly mention that there is an alternative backstory for Cedric which is brought up in a US Lego Mania magazine but I don't think this story is the official one as the other story is mentioned in both a book and CKK's manual while this one is only in the magazine(the magazine even swapped the names around for Leo's 2 knights Richard and John) Basically the magazine says that Cedric was one of Leo's knights and turned traitor......where does that sound familiar? Yeah not buying this backstory.
Cedric has got to be one the best villians Lego has made but it's really sad he's left in the dark while other more shallow villains like Ogel and Vladek are still remembered to this day. It would be great if Lego made a castle theme which is Cedric's home kingdom and back when he was a prince and see his other brothers. That would be a nice prequel. Now I can already imagine there was some friction with Cedric and his brothers(his dad possible too or mother if she was alive)as Cedric is referred to as the 13th son he's clearly the youngest and having 12 older brothers is probably gonna be hard. This probably resulted in Cedric feeling ignored at times and as a black sheep as the older brothers were probably classed as more important which is understandable for someone who has multiple siblings growing under the same roof and considering the time setting of Knights Kingdom 1. When Cedric was left with no land that was the last straw for him and perhaps felt unwanted. But the fact that Cedric didn't have the heart to kill one of his brothers and take their castle perhaps means that he still loved them to some extent. Oh and it's quite something that Cedric is a better father to Weezil then how Chen was to Skylor.
BTW the fact that you used Sonic And The Black Knight music when talking about Cedric just makes me wanna draw him as a Sonic character and put it on Deviantart(I have an account)Man he would look so badass as someone in the world of Sonic And The Black Knight along with Weezil, Gilbert(eye patch guy)and the rest of his gang.

It's fascinating to hear your reflection on your Lego Rewind series and your channel in general in this video. It also makes me feel old with how long I've followed your content. (I remember starting watching from your original channel, I think from some Bionicle movie reviews. Yeah, crazy how long ago that was. 0_0) Though it makes me appreciate how much you have learned and developed on your videos since then. I feel you've come a long way since your original channel. I hope you feel the same way.
Sadly, it's never pretty having to balance the desire to make videos and actually having them perform well enough to make them feel fulfilling. That's the harsh reality of creating content on RUclips. It's why I have no current desire to make videos for my channel. Even when I have some time to myself, I just can't think of content that I would both enjoy doing and be enough to stand out to a potential audience.
That said, from whatever amount of time I've spent watching videos on this website, I always appreciate the effort from people that make videos that just speak from the heart and their passion and not solely just to pander to an audience. From my perspective, if you're not enjoying making videos, then it's pretty much just additional work and that's no fun. Especially when you feel your time is better spent on more essential means.
Regardless of where you go with your channel, I hope you continue to make it your own and treat your videos as such. Lego or otherwise. I'll likely stick around as long I still have free time to watch these videos. Keep playing well. :)

    Hi Nick!
I have spent all my childhood playing with Legos, and when i found your series a while ago i really loved it! I always thought this was going to end one day, and i'm definetly going to miss this series. A lot of youtubers i watch dropped their original formats and started doing other things but, honestly, they are still fun to watch because there is still the same brilliant people behind the videos. I am new to this channel, and i haven't seen much else (yet!) other than Lego rewind, i do not have much time to spend on youtube anymore, i am sure some people will find your channel less interesting after Lego rewind, but as long as you do what you like with your style and your ideas (putting YOURSELF in the video, like in this series), you will always create something interesting to watch and people will definetly appreciate it. This said, i hope this last season will be the most interesting of them all. You gave me some real nostalgia during the other two seasons, even if i am waaay younger than you. I barely remember some of this sets, but i recall seeing them on catalogs and in stores as a kid. I definetly miss those times...
I am courious to see what you are going to dig up this time!
    Thanks for all these emotions!
    Peace and love

You are awesome. Because of your videos, I remembered old sets I owned. Most importantly the strange set from space with the floppy middle part which can split into a rover and a base. Also the underwater and ice alpha team sets. I even tracked down the old flash games from alpha team. They popped back into my mind, as soon als I saw your videos. Thank you for your videos until now and the rest that is left to come!

5/22/2021: I have binged watched your LEGO REWIND content seasons 1 and 2. I will stop here and resume the content soon. Incredible content, i recognized all the sets b/c i used to always look thru the mini magazine as a kid (I'm close in age to you) but you have given me so much info regarding "Spiritual Successors" and color and themes and sub themes. First, thank you for the hard work you’ve done on ALL of your videos, Lego or otherwise. I love seeing vintage ads and promo footage that otherwise would be a pain to look up, all the while making it fresh and applicable to today’s world. I found your channel because of the amazing Alita video, as a huge fan myself; (her portrait from the motorball arc is the entirety of my right calf!) It’s so wonderful to see someone else with the same opinion on how this movie is going to turn out- polar opposite the manga series. And once I saw that I had to subscribe!! I love hearing your take on the state of LEGO, and the history that impacts all of us on a socioeconomic level. Plus a free comic to boot!? How cool!!
At any rate, keep doing WHATEVER content you like, I’ll still be watching and enjoying every moment of it! Your dedication and perseverance is just incredible.

Thanks for doing LEGO Rewind Nick. When you did season 1, I wanted to request Mindstorm and Trains because those were themes I grew up with. Funnily enough, I’m not an engineer. But I’m glad I didn’t jump up and down for you to cover those themes because when you did do the rewind on them I thought you made a great recap on them.
Because of you, I want to time travel back and buy Ice Planet or Nexo Knights, themes that I dismissed at the time but seem so appealing now. So whatever season 3 holds, thank you for being passionate about LEGO and being our guide through the generations of simple plastic bricks. All the best Nick!

The more I binged this show up to know, the more I can see the quality of the show really has had ups and down as you say, but I can see WAY more ups than downs. As someone who is trying to break into the VA and creative business himself, someone gave me a great piece of advice: "you're your own worst critic." It may seem a bit tired or cliché, but it's 100% true. Always seek to improve, but never think that everything is garbage. It's plagued my mind for too long (and to some degree still does) and I'm feeling a lot better for it. I've written more, spoken out more, and felt a lot better now that I've gotten years of undone work off my chest. I may have only gotten into you due to your LEGO Rewind series, but now after seeing the road you've traveled, I'd love to see your own original work!
And yeah, I would never do reviews myself either. Too much stress. It's OK of you didn't wanna touch on Space Port, I'll take your advice and do it myself! Also, I never heard of Nnenn before this and now I love his work and prayed for his family after watching that part. A pity that Seatron was cancelled at the last moment, but it lives on in us fans.
And don't worry about rumors and sexism, nobody gets it right all the time. You did fantastic for what you were doing. And yeah...that old "red" Brickfig...ergh...
But yeah, can't wait to finish the rest of this series!

I look forward to whatever you may do in the future, be it lego related or otherwise! I'm glad you have a clear plan for what you want to cover with this, instead of sticking to your comfort zone and dragging things out as much as is physically possible. Much better for you to be enjoying what you're doing than get caught up in perfectionistic completionism. So yeah, I'll still be here.

One thing I find nifty with Space Police 2 is that the designs of the aliens make it pretty easy to swap the heads around yourself and make "good aliens" and "bad humans" yourself. Heck, even one of the aliens is yellow. Just give him a different head.
And the Police wear bodygloves. Not that much of a stretch to stick on an alien's head and make them a force for good.

Dude, I love your videos. I found your channel because of lego rewind (I just searched for Ice Planet and found your first episode and realized you were probably going to upload more of these interesting Lego videos which had a unique style). But I was just as happy, if not even happier to see how much we had in common besides Lego. You like Sonic, Bionicle, video games, creative writing, and so on. I'll be just as happy when Rewind ends. Not because I don't love the series, but because I think it will be interesting to see what comes next. I'm sure it won't dissapoint anyone as long as you focus on projects you're passionate about. Creativity should be focused, but also free. In general I think you're oriented around geek culture. In that way you remind me of Nerd Writer. He can make videos about anything "nerdy", which can be art, politics or just random, interesting information, but his fans are still dedicated since they have (somewhat) common interests. You will be able to do same thing. Also, I'm not a big Lego fan but I still watch all rewind videos. It has more to do with your style and personality than LEGO itself.
Best of luck and thanks for season 2. Looking forward to more of your videos!

Brilliant video as always, Nick! Your honesty is always what has put you ahead of other LEGO channels. Can’t wait to see what the New Year brings for your channel! Edit: Made this comment about 10 minutes into the video. The rest of this is from after watching the entire video. Just know that wherever your channel goes, you’ll always have my support. Movie reviews, game reviews or more LEGO content, it’s all right up my alley. I hope that your channel only continues to grow as you manage to do what most other content creators don’t- you interact with the community while still focusing on what makes you, you. You’re definitely an inspiration for a small time Battlefront II RUclipsr like myself. I love that you branch out and cover everything you like. I’ve always been worried with how I’m going to get my channel to grow because I want to cover so many things. From music to LEGO, video games or even just the stereotypical cat video. Channels like yours give me hope that I can stick to what I enjoy and find others that feel the same way.
